Old 'Lemmings' PC game

20 posts about the lemmings and no mention of the Christmas edition? Boy, if you thought you hated Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer enough, get ready for a new level.

LET’S GO!

I remember Lemmings. I think I still have the disks somewhere.

If you liked Lemmings you might like Penguins! from wild tangent. it’s only free to play for a little while though. It’s pretty much Lemmings but with Penguins and they don’t die they just get caught by the zookeeper. They also have some interesting things they can do to get them to where they’re going. If you have violent tendencies you can always shoot them out of a cannon and into a wall or bounce them off a trampoline and into a wall, they don’t die but they do make a satisfying smacking sound when they hit the wall.

Also there is Shoujo Attack! , lemmings for anime fans, with scantily clad cute anime girls!!
Something like 22 different abilities including airhead (walks on air), catgirls(of course!) and mecha shoujo!
Bit I remember best is that when you “pause” a shoujo for a few seconds she does a panty shot and blushes

When my commodore 64 broke, I took it to get fixed and the place I took it had lots of Lemming toys dotted about. It was DMA Designs old old premises and they had yet to hit really big so they were still making cash by fixing computers. They couldn’t do anything for my 64, said I would be cheaper buying a new one.

By an astounding coincidence, I just today came into possession of an original Lemmings for DOS 3.5" diskette, copyright 1991. It appears to be intact and readable, but I have no idea if it will install and run correctly. If anyone wants it, feel free to email me or send a PM.

I’ve removed the links to Abandonia. Unfortunately, handy as it is for some old, harder-to-find games, a lot of them are still under copyright, and according to Abandonia’s own FAQ, it doesn’t have permission to distribute the software.

Since we discourage such copyright infringment (as well as frown on links to illegally-distributed software), I’ve removed the links.

I bought my daughter a PSP for Christmas. I was browsing through games for it and found Lemmings. I just had to get it. I knew she’d like it, and she did.

I loved Lemmings. Does anyone know of any other Lemmings-type games that might be available for the DS?

There was a freeware game kicking around a few years ago called “Lamers”, in which you were supposed to wipe out the miniature horde.

Link to download page though you’ll need an application like DosBox to slow it down enough to make it playable.

Buggy little devil isn’t it?

I was playing the game here and was distracted and the level ended up in a state from which it couldn’t be completed. I tried to end the level but that button doesn’t work. So I closed the window it was in. The music continued, all my open windows but one disappeared and my desktop was cleared of icons. To return to SDMB or anything else and get rid of the hideous music I had to reboot.

Think I’ll give it a miss thanks.

The disk has been claimed, in case anyone else was interested. Carry on.

Y’know, it’s funny that critters smart enough to be able to learn carpentry and mining at a moment’s notice would be completely incapable of grasping the concept of “turn around and walk the other way”.

Fugazi mentioned it but I reckon I’ll amplify it. A whole new Lemmings is available and downloadable for the PSP and the PS3. New puzzles + the same ole stuff but cooler graphics and more sensitivity (you’ve got to be much more precise with the bombers, for example). It’s a nice throwback. Keeps reminding me of college.

Much better music, though.

Can someone post step by step instructions to run lemmings under DosBox for the dense amongst us?

Have you gone through this tutorial, treis?

seems odd that such a simple and addictive game hasn’t been translated into ‘app’ form. Seems like a no-brainer.

Looking at this reminds me of Q.E.D. - I was the one he gave the disk to :frowning:

There are what seem to be about a dozen lemmings clones on the iTunes app store. There weren’t 5 years ago, though - when this thread was created.

Lemmings was once pretty ubiquitous, it even turned up on the Sinclair Spectrum.

Dang, I’ll love that when it’s out. Best. Amiga Game. Ever.
