(Old) Make Me Proud! In the MMP

This. So much this. Back when I lived in the land of the summertime heat (triple digits for at least five months in a row) dropping down to 60F was really cold!

Now I’m looking at the expected temp for tomorrow (6F) and thinking “Oh, that’s not so bad”

Thank goodness I’m retired and don’t have to go out and do stuff!

Don’t want to drag politics into this nice chatty thread, but there’s a couple of depressing threads in Politics and Elections if anyone’s interested.

I just checked the severe weather hotline for irk and I have the day off tomorrow, plus a late start Thursday. Methinks i will stay home and cuddle with a small reddish dog.

Tomorrow is garbage day. I did not wheel the bin curbside. It never got out of the single digits plus there is ice in the spot where I fell November 2023, fractured the fibula head, and set off the beginning of ongoing injuries. The bin is staying in the garage for another week.-

Sounds horrible! I prefer my :snowflake: :snowman_with_snow: :snowflake:

I would be happy with 80.

Evening mumpers! Long time no see. A stray thought reminded me of the SDMB and the MMP, so I thought it would be nice to stop in say Hi.

Stayed home from work today as Mrs. Sario and the Spawn are sick, so it’s been a lot of idling on the intertubes while they doze as needed.

Good to see so many familiar names still hanging around, though it looks like there’s a nice helping of new-to-me folks as well.

Let’s see if my brain remembers to check back in before the end of the week.

Welcome back ( Kotter).
:v:

Happy Toosday!

It’s f’ing cold outside.

{{{BooFae}}} I’m sorry about Shadow.

Nettie, I wanted to say last week how cute your kitties are.

Doggio, I think you are very talented.

I bought eggs over the weekend. The store brand was 7.99/dozen while the brand names were 4.99/dozen.
I bought Eggland’s, which are huge. The egg cooker holds six large eggs, but only holds three Eggland’s eggs.

I wonder if they were the stolen eggs.
Somebody up this way stole a truckload of 100,000 eggs, valued at $40,000.
I wonder what does one do with 100,000 eggs. Is there a black market for eggs? I would think eggs would need to come from a trusted source.

I don’t know of anything to be proud of.
I have a hard time understanding the concept of pride. I probably overthink it.

I got a blood test last week and everything is good except my WBC. The results say I probably have an infection of some kind. Which may explain why I am so cold all the time, and why I am sleeping so much. I don’t have a fever.
I see the doctor Thorsday and see what she says.

I hope this week is a little less chaotic than last week.

So it was a kinda low volume day, and it looked like it was gonna be short. Except the 1 Next Day Air didn’t get there till 0845, and the Territory Manager wasn’t gonna spend payroll just so people could get their stuff the next day like they paid for it. So they kept a few of us to unload the 5 cans of Air, and load it into a 53 footer. Which filled it nose to tail 6 feet high, minus the 2 boxes of possible illicit weed the Sheriff guys grabbed for inspection, and the 2 jugs of bull semen. Oh and we had a couple of managers for Jacksonville(Fla) and Winston Salem brought in to be The bobs and show us how to do our job better. Apparently they think you don’t need clerks on Preload. I stopped at the dump on the way home, and heaved the old microwave into the dump. I stopped at Bojangles for lunch, because I had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for sweet tea and chicken. I stopped at the one Exxon for gas on the way home, and my key stuck in the ignition. :grimacing:

Canada took a 4-0 lead on Finlad, and won 5-3, and the Swedes beat a depleted(10 instead of 12 forwards) Team USA 2-1. Thursday is Canada vs. USA for the Title.

{{{{sticky and MusicMan}}}}

It’s the volume that strikes fear in them. Which reminds me, I need to write them again.

Sario!
: tacklehug :
Welcome back!

I wonder if they’ll break their earlier record and get 4 fights into the first 9 seconds.

Lessee.

When I was heading out for my break, a cop had juuust pulled someone over. The guy was in a parking space, like a normal human being, but the cop was blocking the drive-thru.
When I got back from my break, the cop was juuust leaving.

Couple hours later, a car at the drive-thru was … look, I’m no mechanic, but that vehicle sounded Very Not O.K.

Few minutes later, I noticed the same woman still sitting at the window. Thought maybe I’d forgotten something … NOPE! She’d run out of gas.
S.M. and I put on our coats, told her to put in it neutral, and then two elderly bitches ladies had to push her damn car in the snow to get it out of the way.
She sat there for a while trying to get assistance, until S.M sent me back out to offer for her to come sit inside instead of being in her freezing car. (Our lobby was already closed by that point; it was getting pretty late.)
Anyway, she very gratefully accepted - I joked to S.M. that we should ask her to wash some dishes - and eventually her help arrived.

End of the night, I went to turn off the line (the refrigerated setup for all the toppings) only to find that it was … already off.

Or should I say, still off. Never got flipped on, and it was so cold, nobody noticed.

(It’s around 12F right now.)

I got kitty toothpaste for Monkey, and brushed his teeth on Monday. So … that should make everyone proud!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 2c/36f with a predicted high of 6c/43f and cloudy. Weather app declares that it is “Not quite fucking cold enough to freeze a fucking fart.” OK, not that cold but definitely cloudy out there.

Awesome! Is there some kind of documentary evidence of said headgear? I hope you and MusicMan are both feeling better soon.

Moooom I have a spreadsheet for my accounts that is correct to the last penny, 'cos I am somewhat obsessive like that. I get twitchy knowing I’ve used a debit card during the day and not updated the spreadsheet because I can’t do it until I get home again!

The idiocy in your country must be spreading further and faster than we thought. What kind of person thinks shooting someone is any kind of solution?

When my local grocery store had a bit refurb and reorganisation, they printed up tags and hung them on all the shopping trolleys. The tags had a list of items and told you which aisle they’d been moved to - very useful for the first few trips!

That is very good to know, those poor dogs need to be sent on to better people.

VanGo yay for the new car, boo to the battery and windscreen issues though. I hope you get many happy years with your new motor.

I love it when the waifs and strays come back! Sorry to hear your family has the ick though, I hope everyone feels better soonest.

I am still living in the land of Very Quiet Days, in fact it’s good preparation for the time in the future when I am able to be a proper RDOS. I still have another week before I go back to irk, which I think is a good thing. I pushed the rollsuck around a bit yesterday because I couldn’t stand looking at the filthy carpets any longer. Today my shoulder is protesting a bit. Not massively, but enough to let me know I’ve done something.

I cooked last night and made a big pan of chicken orzo so that’ll last me a couple more days. I just have to work out lunches which won’t be too difficult. I’ve just run a bath so I’m off for a little soak next, and I need to wash my hair today because I should be going out with a couple of friends tonight. Other than that, I am trying to do as little as possible!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 46 Amurrkin out with rain, and a predicted high of 52 with rain until late afternoon. We made the executive decision to put off the procurement of provisions ‘til tomorrow as we don’t want to deal with the rain. However we shall attend the doin’s over to the church house this evenin’ as this will get us fed. Thus we shall be our usual RDOS selves durin’ the day.

VanGo yay for the new to you ride.

rio great to hear from ya! Come back and regale us with tales of your life.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

So here we go with the next project. I have had the first installment of my 2025 Block of the Month. We are making this quilt:

This is block number one:

This looks like it will be fun and challenging. I love the color palette. This is at a different shop than the one I am finishing. I took my first class from this teacher and I am glad to be back there.

Sario - somewhere in the back of my dusty brain, I remember your name, but not much else. Remind me of stuff about you, please, and make yerself to home again!

Woke to a chilly house - we both forgot to replenish the pellets last night and the temp in the kitchen dropped FIVE WHOLE FERRETS!!! No wonder Ziva was yelling - she likes to sleep in front of the pellet stove at night. She’s still yelling at me, even tho it’s fired up again. Her people failed her!

Gray and cold and overcast with threats of flurries, but no real accumulation, unless it does accumulate. We’ll see when we see.

And this from the Department of Things That Don’t Matter But Still Keep Me Awake:

Recall that yesterday I mentioned the death of my high school choir director and that a friend sent me his obituary. The photo in the obit was from our yearbook, fifty-some years ago. But the man was 90 when he died. WHY was that old photo used? Surely he’s said cheese more recently than the early 70s - heck, even a photo of him in his early 70s would make more sense than one from when he was 30-something. I admit, not my business and it certainly doesn’t affect me mine, or society in general, but there ya go. Moving on…

I have a few phone calls to make today regarding auto-pay accounts. And I think I’ll research some inexpensive things to do with the kids when we’re in Pigeon Forge, including stuff to do if the weather turns to crap. No real plans beyond that. I suppose I could dust.

(hahahahaha! I made a funny joke!!!)

Onward! Happy Wednesday!!

welcome home!

scareyfaerie, it just boggles the mind.

it is a frosty day in philly. i knitted a faux fur hat a bit ago. the hat is very dense and warm. i have 2 more skeins, so after i finish the socks (last lesson on sunday), i will make the 2 hats. i used the circle loom thing for the hat… i might try circulars… who knows.

i will be on a sour cream hunt. i forgot to pack sour cream for the lunch i remembered to pack. salmon with vareniki.

Well, hi there!

Keep posting pics! We love them!

Fell asleep with Monkey purring in my arms. Such bliss.
Now he’s making up for it by howling at the door and trying to climb the curtain.

Heading for exercise this morning. Four days off has taken a toll on my slothful self. Up to -6F this morning and it may make it to zero today. The wife has a doc appointment this afternoon, then probably a grocery (has anyone ever heard of that word? ) stop. Have a good day, all.
