Short day at the museum. I like doing 8-5 four days and getting out early on Firday.
I won 2 battles today. I got my ping pong ball lifter to work very nicely, and I fixed my oven igniter.
Ping pong lifter, plus the balls blow around in the big box.
Ms Peach has decided the best new game is to toss her toy over the back of the couch and then whine at me to get them.
Good luck to all with the coming snowpocalypse. The guessers are calling for 8-12" here, then to get really cold for a while.
Surgery scheduled in the spring. The doc says this is fine since the biopsies were benign. This surgery has caused a rescheduling cascade of other appointments, but it’s better for my own schedule. If she’d said I needed it now I’d have made it work. As it was, they first offered me mid-March, so it’s not like they wanted me in next week. (Though I could have done it next week.)
To the surprise of absolutely no one, the performance of Les Mis tomorrow night has been cancelled. We’re trying to exchange them for Six.
Earlier, I swung by the grocery store for some last minute supplies before the Icepocalypse. I was surprised the new Publix doesn’t have a rotisserie for chicken, so I had to get some canned chicken for white bean chicken chili. I also picked up a couple of cans of diced chilies. Why is this significant? This is the third time we have bought a couple of cans diced chilies in the last couple of weeks. The previous two times, when I’ve gone to make white bean chicken chili, the cans are fucking gone. Last time I took everything out of the cupboard, and there were no diced chilies. This time, just to prove I’m not losing it, I have photographic evidence.
I paid off my credit card yesterday, and I still have $180 in my checking account.
Our electric bill was $303. I’ve just put the $183 propane bill on the credit card. Almost $500 for power and heat! (Mrs. L.A. keeps her room toasty with a radiator space heater, and she leaves the space heater in the bathroom on all day. We have another radiator space heater in the back bedroom, but it’s not on very high. Just enough to discourage a pipe from freezing.)
Currently 35 ferrets (two centipedes) outside; predicted low tonight is six ferrets (-14 centipedes), and tomorrow’s high is seventeen (-8). Winter storm warning in effect 0300 Sunday to 0600 Monday, and .gov is finally predicting quantities: Five to nine inches Sunday, and another four to eight Sunday night. No French toast for us, though – I’ll be making a pot of chili tomorrow.
Back from Salsa’s - Roxy made me a card and a pot holder. She got the kit for Christmas and made sure to use several red loops since she knows it’s my favorite color!
Glad to be home. I’m gonna get comfy and watch some TV before crash time. I’s tahred!!
Thing is, this pot is probably 15 years old or more, so it’s seen a lot of service and the enamel coating isn’t want it used to be. This high-temp flash cooking of marinated meat was more than it could handle, I guess, and there was a rock-hard covering of blasted marinade covering the bottom.
The new electronics are doing well. I really like lager’s new feeder. The dish is a good size and I don’t have to fight him off. The old one I had to load daily and he would try to nose in and eat before I could get the cover on. So much easier. Thank you Johnnyla!
The new kindle is nice. Now I have to download everything. That will be something to do while it snows this weekend.
I see the storm is strengthening in the south. Good luck to those in the 7-8 states being hit right now.
Kind of a long day, but a good one. Glad we’re back home. Getting ready for the ice or snow or whichever shows up. I had more to say, buy can’t remember what.
My old Le Creuset was the same age, and had produced maybe a thousand stews and pot roasts in its life. The enamel just wasn’t doing its job anymore and everything was starting to stick. I finally bit the bullet and replaced it just two weeks ago. Red beans and rice tomorrow!
I napped. I dreamed I was fleeing some petty tyrant, so I loaded some scrap metal in my truck and drove around to the back of his house which was a construction site. They were hiring people and strays so I signed up and was petting the dogs. Now it’s a Boulevardier, and the Bachelor Food version of Cioppino.
Good idea considering your week.
Drive safe. Monkey needs his primate servant.
And yay to double vanquishing Murphy!
[Dr. Sigmund Fraud]Zo, are the chilies in the room with us right now?[/Dr. Sigmund Fraud]
But they are there.
Mine was like $150.
Is that an Old Person thing?
It seems weird that those things only last 15 years.
Howdy Y’all! Been a lazy day in da cave. Well, I did make slaw and baked beans so I guess that was productive. We won’t be gettin’ any of the nasty weather unless you count rain on Sunday. Everyone in the path of icr/snowpocalypse hunker down and take care.
Peedin no worries. I am prone to such stuff myself.
Maus what green chilies? I don’t see two cans of Old El Paso green chilies in that pic.
Dicey may both of you be over your surgeries soonest.
MOOOOOOM I read that as Polka Fiesta at first. I think that would involve a piñata and an accordion.
