(Old) Mist and Murk in the MMP!

Bear, whats your location?
I want a polka fiesta!

Happy day, DCM!

And time for the late night final. Got my workout done by 8:15pm, well before the closing time of 9pm, and am home eating some applesauce, a protein bar (advertises 20g of protein) and some chocolate chip cookies to replace some of the calories burned. Since I don’t have to worry about getting up at 6:30am for soccer I can dawdle with my internet/You Tube browsing as late as I want, since tomorrow is due to be cold and wet. They are calling for a ‘wintry mix’ (whatever the heck that is) in the morning with rain in the afternoon and then rain through Sunday afternoon…so it will be wet down here in Ali-bama, but probably no snow.

Lots of catching up to do, so better get down to it…

VanGo, quite a contraption. Sounds like Ms. Peach is training you as well…

Lily, at least it is on the schedule and you can plan for (and around) it.

Maus, hope the gremlins leave your cans alone.

Flyboy, the relatively mild weather here hasn’t hit my bills quite as bad, but I expect the March billings for this month will raise my eyebrows a bit…

FCM, looks like Roxy may have a little of her maternal grandma’s skills…

And have added enough calories back that I think I can resist further goodies. Onward into the wilds of the Internet and I’ll see y’all tomorrow.

IDK, it might warm the place up a bit. :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually, according to the outside thermometer, it jumped all the way to 2.

I braved the supermarket on the way home. The shuttle does a drop off/pick up on 2 runs. Uff da! Silly chair! What were you thinking?!

There were 2 carts available, one was locked. The produce area was wiped out. Interestingly the giant did have snow shovels. Most places are sold out. My big needs were cat food and litter. I got some snacks as well. The checkout queue was wrapped around aisle after aisle. The pickup run leaves the building at 6pm and should get to the giant by 6:10. I got on line at 5:44. Ah well, the next pickup would be on the 6:45 run. Got through the line and to the door of the store at 5:52. Not bad.

The shuttle was running a bit late and got to us at 6:15. That was good as we were getting nervous about missing him. We get on and the driver said “there is a protest at city hall”. Oh dear…

Turns out the protesters were on the move, the east side of centre city was blocked off. we detoured all over centre city. Didn’t get back to the building until after 7pm. Seriously! I get alerts from phila in the wee hours of the morning that various roads are closed. Why can’t they alert when city streets are blocked?! Seriously! Not a peep from ready pa or even the news stations.

I’m not sure about the shopping trip tomorrow… I will be amused by the crazed frenzy, that is entertaining. I’ll see what lager thinks.

Heard a ruckus in the kitchen. Went to investigate and realized it was coming from behind the fridge, where Hazel had managed to tumble after jumping on the top. She managed to rescue herself before we were forced to drag the thing out from the wall.

Ash, of course, thought that was a really interesting thing to do and crawled under the over-the-fridge cabinet and threatened to do the same thing himself.

Thank you, I did, and am currently tossing him some treats after being home all of fifteen minutes - the little twerp just won’t leave me in peace and I have a headache. I think that’s because I didn’t drink as much water as I usually do - long shifts especially in the summer I can schluck down 3 bottles, tonight I barely finished 1 - but I had a cold wind in my face and ears most of the night and that doesn’t usually make you go, “Mm, let’s have some cool, refreshing water!”

Glad you’re home.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s down to 34 degrees Ferret Height(1.11 Centipedes)

Yeah, when you can see your breath, you don’t think hydration

I had some before going to bed & have a supply conveniently at hand for my lazy ass. Woke with just the faintest shadow of the headache and a sudden & rather time-sensitive need to pee, so I guess some rehydration occurred.

Gonna sip some more, have a bit of a smoke, and hopefully get half a metric shitton more sleep.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 49 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 61 and cloudy. I am goin’ to do some down home cookin’ for today’s main activity. A hunk o’ beast will get thrown in the slow cooker to become a pot roast with gravy. The rest of sup will consist of rutabaga, field peas ‘n butter beans with okra, squish, smashed N.O.T. and cornbread. There will be work involved but ‘twill be yummy. Never fear, I will not neglect RDOS inactivities.

Coppertone I think a Polka Fiesta would be a great Mumpfest! Pierogis and empanadas all around!

Shoe I trust you are snoozin’ away as I post. Glad the headache went away.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, let the domesticity begin! Rah. Well, begin later this mornin’.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

ELEVEN FREEKIN’ FERRETS!!! Not what one wants to wake up to. Well, unless one has been in negative Ferrets. Yesterday afternoon it hit 50, so this is not amusing. At all.

I’m starting my day with blueberries in oatmeal. That is, I dumped a handful of blueberries in the oatmeal before I nukelated it. Warm and comforting, so a good way to start the day. According to Accuweather, today’s high will be 23-ish and we’ll get 3-6" of snow and ice by the time it ends tomorrow. Well, that, at least, is better than the 14" or more they were threatening a few days ago. And I know some people will have it far worse, but I’m still gonna bitch about it. So there! The reduced accumulation forecast also reduces (I hope) the chance of losing power. But sub-freezing days and single digit nights are promised for at least a week. Dammit.

No real plans for the day. I wish I’d gotten more 'nanners for FCD, but it’s not worth braving the idiocy at Food Lion to get him more. He can make do with canned fruit if he must - there are peaches, pears, and pineapple in the pantry - a veritable feast of alliteration!!

And so it begins. This would have been a perfect week to take a Caribbean cruise, and I’m not a big fan of cruising the islands, but I’d make an exception. Oh well, we shall survive. We’ll whine, but we’ll survive. And once again, I’m so glad we park in the garage. It gets enough heat from the shared wall with the house that it doesn’t (hasn’t?) gotten below freezing. The poor truck, however, may be a problem. I’m thinking maybe we should drive it around a bit today - maybe get some gas and get all its fluids warmed up and moving.

For now, tho, I’ll bask in the glow of the intrarwebz. Happy Saturday!!

Good morning! It’s -6 degrees outside my window, rising to 9F later today. We have the kitchen faucet barely open to a trickle, to keep the pipes from freezing.

I’ve had my Le Creuset set ~35 years, but it doesn’t get used all that often.

Currently six ferrets (-14 centipedes) outside; wind chill is -13 ferrets (-25 centipedes). Trying to work up enough nerve to take the bunny a bottle of liquid water to replace his current bottle.

Well, I haz a disappoint. After all the storm hoopla, it is just cold. 10F now but will warm up to 20F later in the day.

It is supposed to snow tonight, but I doubt there will be much. No real plans for the day. Laundry will probably happen because I want to change the sheets and I might make some low-carb gout friendly brownies if the bananas are mushy enough.

Mostly I’m just going to hang out and do nothing, I’m still tired and cold from yesterday. It seems as thought I take longer to recover from that sort of thing than I did when I was 30.

I probably don’t have another 15 years, so I’m reluctant to pop $400 for a new pot. Lodge makes a highly rated one for about $100, so I might take a look at that.

-16F this morning, so we’re slowly creeping upward. Should be in positive territory next week, though barely.

I’m worried about another resident here. We saw her being taken out by an EMT crew a couple of days ago and of course staff can’t tell us anything. Irene is such a frail little thing, bent over nearly double and uses a walker to get around. But her joy in life and the twinkle in her eye charmed us and she and I like to joke with each other. She’s always trying to say prayers for me and I’m always telling her that it won’t take, and we share our home-grown tomatoes with her every year. I hope she is able to return to us.

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 26F and clear outside. It’ll be clear and sunny for the day, with a daytime high of 42F. Still nary a snowflake.

Cookie, I have two lodge enamel pots, and they are great. I wasn’t prepared to go out and spend four or five hundred on a Dutch oven either. I hope Irene returns.

Shoe, I’m glad you made it home. I hope by now you are warm and snoozing hard.

Dicey, sending get better vibes to both you and your husband.

VanGo, what a cool contraption. Sounds like Ms. Peach is very good at training you!

BooFae, congrats on the job offer! I hope you will be much happier in this new position.

We’ve planned to go to the German restaurant and the deli today. We’ll have lunch at the restaurant, then head to the deli. Dinner will be coldcuts and brochen.

That’ll probably be the extent of running around. While I am moving around better, standing for long periods still bothers me.

My daughter sent me a couple of pictures of my granddaughter cheerleading at a school basketball game. She looked so cute! The younger girls were being led by older gals.

Flyboy, I think my bill was around $252 bucks, but the next one will be higher because we’ve been running the gas fireplace more.

Welp, I need some more coffee. Please stay warm and take care of yourselves.

Morning all. Up and have broken my fast while awaiting the half-snow/half-ice that is on the way for the morning. Should warm up by this afternoon to just rain, which will stick around all day, then tonight comes the cold weather (I realize 15F isn’t cold to many here, but for N. Ali-bama, it’s nightmare fuel) comes calling.

So might actually get some things done around the house today, we’ll see how it goes.

rocky, glad you made the bus and survived the mob (both at the store and on the streets).

Pavo, catz is weird…

shoe, sweet and headache-free dreams.

FCM, happy hibernating. We’re supposed to stay cold here from Sunday onward, with highs about 40F and in the teens for the evening. At least no more precipitation is forecast for next week.

Sounds like a good plan to me…

Cookie, ya never know how many years you got and if the Lodge pot will serve, I’d say go for it. And best wishes for Irene.

And think I will munch on some baby carrots while await the apocalypse. Take care all.

Can you share the recipe or link? PLEEEEEASE?? < puppy-dog eyes >

I gave the truck a good drive - maybe 20 miles? It got well-warmed and I put a tad over 10 gallons in the tank, so it’s somewhere between half and three-quarters full. That will likely last 2 months, as little as we drive it. Temp has leapt to 17 Ferrets. At least there’s some sun and not a lot of wind. Snow is supposed to start around 10 or so tonight, continue till morning, then freezing rain settles in all day tomorrow. Ick.

Dog training has been canceled for today since Trisha has the flu. I’m glad (not that she’s sick, but that class is canceled) - I was going to have to go alone since FCD wants to finish the fiberglass work in the shop. He’s out there now. Otis is snoozing next to me (and next to the pellet stove.) I guess the cold takes a bit out of him. I’ve got the ice maker running and shortly I’ll assume the crochet position. I figure I’ll fire up the basement fireplace later this evening and try to bank it so it’ll go much of the night. The firebox is kinda small and some of the logs are pretty big - we’ll see how it all works out.

As that’s life at FairyChatEstate so far!
