(Old) Mist and Murk in the MMP!

That’s the one I have. I don’t use it as often as some of my other pans, but it has been holding up well for a few years.

Good vibes sent to Irene.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. When I went online on my desktop this morning, it had logged me off all of my accounts. I checked cloud storage and retrieved all but the dope ( on my tablet now. Aspenglow, I could use a little help here since the can’t remember feature isn’t emailing me back). Typing on the tablet is a PITA.

Our &freezing weather hasn’t begun yet but it’s on its way. Right now, it’s about 10F cooler than 24 hours ago.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

6 degrees and sunny. Getting a ride to grocery store. Its to start snowing around 4 am. Predicted 9 inches. Heavy snow not til noon.
No wind they said.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 7c/45f with no predicted change, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “This weather is like the fucking band Oasis. Thinks it’s better than the Beatles, but it’s fucking not.”

They’re too busy sleeping in between meals! Cherry likes to shove her bum in my face when I’m laying in bed, Blossom does it to me when I’m on the sofa. They know I have Muffin in the room with me when I’m working so neither of them get too close to the growly Tortie monster.

Yay for successful surgieries and a new bed, but boo to pain and drains. I hope you had a peaceful night after all of that excitement.

I’m glad you have a date for it, and you can plan around it without it putting you out too much.

Good, it should help with the headache but not the mid-sleep need to pee  I always take water up to bed with me, then have to ensure it doesn’t get a feline nose stuck in it.

Keeping fingers and paws crossed for Irene, I hope she comes back to keep you cheerful.

I’m glad to hear you’re a bit more mobile, hopefully you’ll avoid the need for a doc’s visit.

Friday was a fairly good day for irkage, I managed to get one set of minutes completed and sent off so I have the shorter meeting to finish up on Monday. Still waiting for HR to send me the official job offer, but I wasn’t expecting it until next week anyway. Logged off irk, fed the cats and then vegged on the sofa with leftovers for dinner, and a bit of fuss time with Blossom.

Today I was up with the lark and tended to the needs of cats before heading off to the gym. I got petrol on the way there so the tank is now half-full and that will last me a while as I’ve not got any long trips planned. I came back from the gym and got showered, then had lunch and fed the cats again, before heading into town.

I parked at the little retail park as I needed to go to the pet store for cat litter and Muffin’s food. Then I walked down into town and went to the three stores I needed stuff from, then back to the car via the Rustic Bakery where I got my sourdough loaf and a cheese pastry.

Back in the car and then off to the supermarket. I hadn’t taken anything out of the freezer for dinner because I couldn’t decide what I wanted. In the end, I picked up a fresh chicken and some veggies at the supermarket (along with some treats for the mogs) and will be doing a roast dinner tonight. There will be enough left over for tomorrow too so that means I can have a day of proper slothage. Off to change the bedding since Muffin’s in here with me, Blossom’s asleep in the window, and Cherry’s around somewhere else.

It’s currently 6 below zero and heading to a high of 5. Needless to say I am not leaving the house.

To quote my great-Grandmother, who died age 99; ‘If I’d a known as I was going to live this long I’dve got mesel a new pair of shoes’.

The weather continues miserable and grey, but at least it’s barely raining today and it’s above freezing- the stream at the bottom of the hill I live on is on the edge of bursting its banks. I’m halfway up the hill, so if I start flooding it’s time to start gathering animals in pairs, but it can block the way out and there are houses which can flood at the bottom.

Today’s avtivities have been taking a car load of junk to the tip, followed by the near-inevitable trip to the garden centre, where I got some dirt cheap clearance hanging baskets which I plan to slightly update and hang up and some dahlia tubers. I could pick up the second monitor for my set-up on the way back. Annoyingly it doesn’t seem to be working very well, when both connected, the monitors keep going black for a few seconds, and I can’t do any of the online advice to fix it, as it involved un-installing drivers and suchlike which I can’t do on an irk laptop ‘cos it’s locked down. I’ll have to ask on Moanday if they can do anything about it.

have the fire lit to cheer the place up a bit, and I’ll go plant some seeds this evening or tomorrow, because spring will arrive sometime. Honest.

3 F here. Gotta clear off a bit of accumulation and fetch Car(e)less later. No way in hell I’d let him walk that far in this.

For now, it’s lounging time. Maybe doze back off for a while.

Management provides water bottles for us (we have to have non-spill containers with a lid) and those manage to find their way home with me.

Almost too warm. I usually sleep in my birthday suit & maybe socks, but the last two nights have involved thermal leggings, a long-sleeved shirt, and Very Warm Socks ™ & I woke up kinda sweaty.

Better than shivering, I guess.

But yeah, at the time you & swampy sent your well wishes for a good sleep, I was squishing my pillows and having odd dreams that I’ve already forgotten.

Imma drink some more water & see if I can’t drift off for a bit longer. That whole “getting up” and “doing stuff” thing just doesn’t sound appealing.

Otis has a favorite game - pretend to want to go out, then run around the cars in the garage instead of going into the yard. Since I know there’s nothing in there he’ll eat/drink that will make him sick, I just leave him till he decides he wants in the house or out in the yard. Idiot dog.

Supper will be turkey - the turkey I thawed the other day and didn’t eat. Not sure what we’ll have with it, but there’s time to figure out the sides. Meanwhile, there’s crocheting to be done.

Well, there’s always that, of course. But the other consideration is how long I’ll continue to cook meals of any size.

Accidently hit submit.

Good morning. 4 degrees in f(ucking cold), which is -15 in c(old, fucking) outside. Snow has been falling since about 5am and isn’t supposed to really stop until about 3pm tomorrow. So far maybe a half inch, but this is the light first wave. Tonight is supposed to be the real stuff.

We have wood for a fire and snacks for snacking, and we’re ready for a weekend in. Hopefully no church choir in the morning.

You want us to accidentally hit submit? How do we do that? It wouldn’t be accidental!

Snuck over to the gym during a break in the weather. About 30F outside so as long as you drive carefully there is no real problem. Did see 2 cars in the ditch on a 3-mile drive, so that helps keep me cautious. Supposed to get above freezing in a couple of hours and turn to rain so I’ll just loll around and take plenty of breaks between sets. Fortunately this place has about a dozen comfy chairs scattered about so sloth between exercise is fine. Might even use the pool and whirlpool while I’m at it. More later when I get home later today. Take care all

Was a whole 2 ferrets when I awoke, up to a rousing 7 now. I had some errands to run, interesting weather, it was bright and sunny at my house, 9 miles and about 300 feet in elevation down into town and it was snowing with about 2" on the ground. Back up the hill after completing (nearly, couldn’t find upholstery tread) and back into sun and dry.

It’s sort of like throwing yourself at the ground and missing. You have to distract yourself at exactly the right time. Except instead of flying you end up posting weird cryptic messages.

We were on our way to buy some fiberglass strips and I asked FCD why he needed it. He described what was going on. I asked - can’t you just use screws?

He got really quiet. Then he scooted to the left lane and made the next U-turn that he could. Sometimes it takes someone else to break your way of thinking.

Go me! He’s really quite sharp, but sometimes he gets severe tunnel vision. So he’s very lucky to have me here.

At least he finally filled his car, and Otis got to go for a car ride.

It’s down to 41 ferrets. ¡Mas tristé! The bottom will drop out come sundown, although nothing like some of you.

I’m fixing to start my afternoon read / nap.

We are at 19f in Philly.

I did go on the shopping trip. Not to bad. Started at Michaels, got some yarn and other little things. Then to home goods/tj maxx got tea and snacks. Also found some birthday items for my cousin. Then on to acme. Cold cuts and sandwich makings, pom wonderful was on sale, hot chocolate at Starbucks. Things were fairly well stocked they even had a few shovels. Not as crowded as I expected. Perhaps the cold kept people away, it was in single digits at 10 am. On to target, again not crowded, able to move around easily nicely stocked. Got bins and tp.

I think lager likes his new feeder. The bigger bowl makes it easier for him to eat. He has to learn the new sounds the feeder makes.

We are now all settled in for the winter storm.

I was supposed to be clerking the 100/200 Sidle, but they moved me to sorting on Blue Belt. I got out of that just in time to be sent to Secondary Sort for a hour. So I got to get clerking at 8ish. They started bring me carts of rewraps and damages at 10. I got out at 1:45(rewrapping multiple 100lbs boxes of furniture, and reboxing a box of traffic cones takes time). But I got laundry going(I’m doing my Sunday load today just incase I lose power. It’s 27F, with a Windchill of 16(-2.778/-8.889C)

“Roll Out the Barrels”, mariachi style.

SWMBO decided we’re not going to White rock today. I was getting ready to boil some eggs for tuna-and-egg salad. Mrs. L.A. came into announced that she was going to make tuna salad. Then she saw the eggs. She said she doesn’t want eggs in the tuna salad. I’ve put a couple more eggs into the pot, and I’ll boil them anyway to make egg salad. I’m planning on making fried tilapia and canned green beans for dinner.

The can of tuna needed to be opened. There was a ding on the rim, and somehow the electric can opener did not open that bit, nor another bit 180º away. Wifey tried to pry it off, but couldn’t. I grabbed a handy Swiss Army Knife (a four-or-so-blade Wenger) and easily cut the stuck bits of the lid with the knife’s can opener; which made me wonder…

Do ‘kids today’ know how to use a can opener?

I know that as a group, we trend older. Someone of us grew up in households with ‘lever-type’ can openers (as found on pocket knives) in a kitchen drawer. (We had the manual kind with the knob, and an electric one.) Some of us (not me) were in the military and have used P-38 can openers. (I have one on my house key ring.) I’m sure most – maybe all – of use can use one. But I wonder about teens and 20s kids, since most cans now have pop-tops.

I dunno if kids can (heh) or can’t use a can opener, but I did notice during the Covid initial panic buying period that all the cans with pull tabs were selling out, but the cans that needed an opener- there’s a few cheaper brands that need one- were not. I suspect a lot of people don’t own one any more.

I have one of the manual ones- it doesn’t get much use, but I’ve read ‘Three men in a boat’ and I’m not going to be stuck without one.
