(Old) Mist and Murk in the MMP!

I have exercised and the scale shows 202.2, about a 2.4lb loss, so we’ll stay active and see what next week brings. I usually get a burger and fries on Moanday (Monday is my ‘let the food places feed me’ day) and I finally made a list of all the places near here that I go…a total of 11! So I’ll try to keep track this year and spread my dollars among them. Burger King is looking like tonight’s winner, so I’ll head over there in a little bit. Otherwise no activity more strenuous that pushing the keys on the keyboard (might take the trash bags out to the garage and replace them with new ones…or maybe tomorrow…). Temperature is at 38F and heading downward again.

FCM, I will make a note to try Gala apples next week. Not sure if I ever picked up Fuji but will keep them in mind. Hope you got the missing bag of pellets.

Pavo, I see the test went well for wife, so Hooray! for that.

shoe, take care and visit us when you can. We’ll be here for you. And thanks for the grin on my face from your stories.

JtC, if it’s “holding the car door open with your foot” windy, that’s a pretty good gale you’ve got going. And like the idea of a cherry tree. And while Dolly Parton is not on my playlist much, she is good people (and I loved her in “9 to 5”). Hope you get to see the Aurora tonight.

Flyboy, my work with youth soccer is my major contribution in doing for others, but I admire you and wife’s efforts to help the homeless, it is something worth doing and that you are motivated to do it says a lot about you (all of it good).

And need to go forth and collect my Double Whopper with Cheese to celebrate my losing weight last week (forget it, he’s rolling…). Back late tonight or early tomorrow.

That’s always nice. I tend to have at least one flavor that sucks to me.

I second the motion!

JtC, Dolly Parton was considered the patron saint of Tennessee when I lived there (and likely still). She did a lot (not just the imagination library) for the folks of the state.

I forgot it’s the Kollege Handegg Championship tonight. As an ACC fan, it’s all about The U!

I think I read somewhere that the state has declared today to be a state holiday.

Its never happened to me before either

I think its too far north for us, but it gives me a reason to try to stay up until at least 2230 and stitch.

Tomorrow I have a doctor appointment in the morning and then James and I will be heading to Morgantown to wave our signs around. That’s where the big protest is planned and I feel safer/less safe with people around. I’ll be back at the capital on the 23rd for the state ICE protest. Hubs has requested that I sew an Airtag into my bra.

No pretty lights in the sky yet, but it is also pretty cloudy so I’ll probably not stay up much longer hoping to see something.

Will you rock ‘them’?

No rocks. Its too late for rocks. I’m bringing my husband who will be carrying a high cap assault rifle. He doesn’t support trump, but he won’t let his wife get disappeared without resistance. Our executor is aware of what is going on and plans are in place for the fuzzbutts.

Speaking of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day…

“If our economic system is to survive, there has to be a better distribution of wealth … we can’t have a system where some people live in superfluous, inordinate wealth, while others live in abject
deadening poverty.” — Martin Luther King Jr.

Referring to ‘Waving your banner all over the place’.

This is purportedly happening in Minneapolis, and MAGA can’t understand how this can be allowed.

The Black Panthers are armed and marching in Philadelphia. They look so young, just children. How could things have ever come to this?

4 hours of slothing, internettin’ and tackleball-watching has brought me to here, from which I will shortly repair to my bedroom and commence snoring.

JtC, best wishes on the Morgantown sojourn, may you have lots of company. And while I understand your fears, is that really a good idea you have in blur? I am skeptical and mildly fearful. Be strong but be careful. Please.

And on that rather somber note, I leave my computer and very soon my consciousness. Catch y’all on 2sDay.

This is an open carry state, it is perfectly legal. As long as everything stays peaceful, everything will stay peaceful.

These people are living in the street. I’m sure it’s nice to get a bag of fairly-healthy food; but it seems so little. We really need a systemic change, where people who don’t need any more money give up a fraction of the money they don’t need, to provide shelter, food, and psychological help to people who need it. We distributed food today. What about tomorrow? And the next day? And the next?

One guy said he was Jewish, but followed Christ. He was saying he needed a ‘card’ from the government so that he could get a place to stay. I don’t know how public assistance works, but I assume he’s entitled to benefits but can’t access them. A woman who was grateful, was talkative… seemingly to no one in particular. One guy was barely communicative. Never did see his face. He was pretty out of it.

These people are getting food from somewhere, as evidence by the fact they’re not lying dead in the street. But a country as rich as ours should be able to provide better services to them. I gave out bags of a sandwich, a bottle of water, a fruit, a cheese stick, a granola-type bar, and an Andes mint to several people today. We acknowledged them as existing. My more-devout teammates prayed for them. But this nation that so many call ‘Christian’ really needs to step up and help the least of us.

I have orange-and-white zoomies over here. A certain klepto kitten also decided to steal my glasses from their spot next to the tub while I was busy washing my face (and about to wash my hair) and unable to defend them. Good thing DH noticed her carting them into the living room and reclaimed them for me, since I can’t see well enough without my glasses to find my glasses if they’re not where I expect them to be.

She’s healing up fine from her spay, and I’m pretty sure the surgery only slowed her down for as long as it took the drugs to wear off.

… and named one of your cats after her big hit song.

Yeah, you’re a big non-fan.

That was me the last time I wandered by my old kollege town.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 28 degrees Ferret Height(-2.22 Centipedes).

Luckily Spot doesn’t steal, he just defenstrates.

It keeps coming to this.

In spite of having the day off yesterday, I didn’t manage to make it here. But, I did do some cleaning and organizing. Today my little girl has an upset stomach. I cleaned up a mess, but I’m not entirely sure which end it came out of considering the sounds I was hearing from the other room.

It’s currently 1F outside and MusicMan has to spend the day outside, as usual. :frowning:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 26 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 55 and mostly sunny. I didn’t report back in yestiddy. Men’s night was good. Less folk showed up but we still solved all the problems of the world. We watched an episode of All Creatures Great and Small and then went to bed around eight-thirty. For some reason we were both tahrd. I have been up since six-thirty and OYKW is still abed. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. The thrill of it is almost too much. A hunk of poke will get tossed in the slow cooker in a bit. That along with broccoli and baked sweet N.O.T. will be sup. I think I will make a cheese sauce cause broccoli and cheese sauce is good.

Nellie that could be a good solution for both daughter and you. Also conga rats on the gig.

Pavo great news! Glad there was no blockage.

JtC I love what you do, but please be careful.

Shoe glad to hear from ya!

FlyBoy you did a good thing there.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then onward into the day! Laundry awaits. Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

There’s weird then there’s weird. Last night’s dream was weird. First off, I was on travel with a coworker (dunno who, dunno why) who decided to leave me behind. So Pilot (dunno where he came from) said I could stay with him and he’d take me to the airport in the morning. I was worried because I didn’t have my meds, but I decided to take a shower anyway. Unfortunately, I left part of the curtain out of the tub and I got water all over his bathroom floor. There were only 2 towels and I had to use mine to clean up the mess before I could dry off… Weird miscellany followed, including the three pre-teen brats who were living with him, then my Sonata outside his apartment, covered in snow. I’m sure there’s a very profound message in there, because that’s what dreams are, right??

On the plus side, I mostly slept till after 7. And as soon as we’re both showered and dressed, we’re heading to the marina to see our boat’s newly cleaned hull. Then we’ll swing by Lowes for our missing bag of pellets and on to Food Lion in the hopes of restocked diet root beer. So, a very exciting morning.

We forgot to pelletize the stove last night - woke to 19 Ferrets outside and 69 Ferrets inside (instead of the usual 71. Guess our insulation works.) The stove has since been fired up.

Not sure what else I’ll do today. The kitchen floor could do with a good damp mopping. But first, I need to shower and dress.

Happy Tuesday!!

Not much going on. -14 C here so I think Cookie in Minnesota holds the record for coldest MMPer today.

But, the plug on my block heater has disappeared. It was showing signs of wear, and two days ago when I came back from errands it had fallen off; too much stress I guess. So I’m hoping it doesn’t get much colder.

Snow forecast for today and tomorrow.

Fach, great news for Mrs Fach. Yay! It’s great when med tests are wrong in the right direction.

Shoe, good to see you.

Off to be a worker drone.

Well, it’s Tuesday, the 20th. It’s dang cold in Elkhart, 2 degrees F, with a wind chill of -15.

Metal_Mouse, I like Honeycrisp and Fuji apples.

Best of luck to Mrs. Pavo.

I’m groggy. Need coffee!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/47f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app says “Oh good. It’s super fucking cloudy outside.”

That could be fun - perhaps you’ll find some little gems to share with us? I am also intrigued about a “cat psychic”. Those two words do not normally belong together.

Awww…what a lovely mental image. I love our girlies, but I do miss that kittenish behaviour.

You’ve been missed, young lady! I’ve seen your occasional postings on FB but it’s good to see you here too.

Excellent news, and great that everything else can proceed as normal.

You did a very good thing for other people which makes you a good person too, I am glad to hear that they appreciated it.

Hubs is very wise, that sounds like an excellent idea.

To be honest, I feel the same about our provision for the homeless here. We have many charities and churches who run outreach programmes that feed the homeless on a regular basis but there’s nothing consistent. One of the issues we come across is that some people simply don’t want help, some don’t know what help there is, some don’t like shelters, some have been so troublesome that they’ve been banned from shelters for the safety of others. All the money in the world could be thrown at these problems, but you’d still have some people who just don’t take advantage of it.

Sticky Buns I hope Annie feels better soon!

I finished work early yesterday and scooted up the road to see the dental hygienist and then the dentist. Nothing exciting there, I will be back to the hygienist in 3 months and the dentist in 6 months. Then back home to do campus food prep, then I rifled through the fridge to find stuff for dinner. I ended up making a one-pot chicken dish with onion, leek, mushrooms, chicken stock, garlic, cream cheese, mixed herbs and tarragon. Then I mixed in some cooked macaroni (just because I have a pack that’s open and needs to be used up). It was deemed acceptable

Today has been busy. I had a meeting with Troublesome Minion and my erstwhile manager-type person to finally draw a line under all the stuff that’s been going on recently. I hope it really is over now, although she says she’s still upset about things but hopefully we won’t hear any more about it now. Then I had a half hour break before a departmental meeting which was boring as usual. There’s a different departmental meeting tomorrow so that means more minutes for me…and a union meeting at lunchtime because pay negotiations are still in dispute from last year (and this year’s negotiations should be starting soon).

I am exhausted just thinking about it!
