At a gathering yesterday, someone was surprised that our previous move required 3 20" trucks. A. That’s not a lot for grownups with furniture; B. We packed things we would have had to give away and then replace on arrival, like TP, detergent, canned food, potting soil… We did get rid of most of the furniture and at least 1/3 of my books, plus a lot of clothing, but my lovely wife adores her specialty cookware and, y’know, I still had 2/3 of the books.
We want to re-do all of the window treatments because they’re in crummy shape, and that’s become quite expensive, so we might not be able to do the backyard project we wanted to take on this summer. That means I needed a new lawn mower. I asked a neighbor if she liked her brand of reel push mower. She said it was fine, it had been given to her years ago, she 's only used it once, and she has someone who mows for her–did I want it? Hell, yes! She wouldn’t let me buy it, so we’re going to help her with some of her backyard landscaping as a thank you. Nice!
