(Old) Of Humid Bondage- A Heatwave MMP

Up from naptime, having an Old Fashioned to help me recover from Spot “helping” me make my bed. Also cheeseburgers and corn.

First the earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil…

Double Yay!

It’s not so bad, except when there’s too much dew on the grass, and certain people would not go out.

It was indeed.

So say we all.

Well said. I always wonder if people think I don’t like them or something if I respond to some people and not others.
I read and enjoy everybody’s contributions here. It can just be so hard to keep up!

Even if I don’t respond to you, I’ve read and enjoyed. Sometimes others have said what I would have said first.

I sure do hope you never have to move. You’ve been there so long that you would never remember where the bathroom is in the middle of the night.

More melting down is happening in AZ. The movers didn’t pack the washer and dryer and I’m throwing a fit over the idea of him pulling a trailer cross country.

Once the spending money situation gets settled down, we can buy the last set we will probably ever need. Until then, the laundromat in Logan was clean, had working machines and the change machine would take twenties (which is how I had ten bucks worth of quartahs in my consal.)

Mine was post-TIA, so they might well have been looking for different things, such as verifying presence of a brain.

Get a massage?
Pedicure?
Facial?

So kind of a Ted K kind of location?

I resemble these remarks.

Exactly.

I think they should have to pay for a new set or at least half.

Worked, worked out on the NuStep, watched 1-1/2 hrs of the Tonys (I dvr’d them). I texted our daughter that after Hubs immunity levels are back up high, that I want her and I to go to NYC and go see a bunch of Broadway/off-Broadway plays and musicals! Made soft tacos for dinner. Watched the Olympic Swim Trials again tonight.

Getting pretty sleepy so 'night all!

I had such a test once, and the results were negative.

Dang. At this point sell them to some single mom for a pittance and buy replacements in West Virginia. Renting a trailer and the extra gas to haul it all those miles will cost more then new machines in WV, to say nothing about the wear and tear on hubs pulling a trailer across damn near the entire country. Just say no. Go out tomorrow, buy a pair and have them delivered and set up, tell hubs to donate the AZ to a family just squeaking by.

That would be the unincorporated community of Lincoln, Montana in Lewis and Clark County, which is far too remote for me. Lincoln is heavily wooded where you could live off the grid in a cabin for years sending package bombs and nobody would know you were there. Lincoln is not a typical Montana town, just a famous one.

Stevi is mainly an agricultural area. When I walk my dog every morning I see cows, sheep, goats, chickens, llamas, horses, and cattle. There are thousands of acres around me being farmed for hay and alfalfa. I live 30 minutes north of the town of Hamilton and 30 minutes south of Missoula, which is the “big city” with a population of 80,000 people and also has the University of Montana.

JtC, I’m obviously not a lawyer, but you should check your contract with the movers. They have insurance that covers lost or damaged articles, and it seems likely that forgetting to load major items like a washer and dryer would be covered.

MetalMouse, I’ve had a number of MRI’s. They bang, clang, and buzz at 100 decibels or more. A jack hammer is 100-130 decibels. If my head is not inside the machine, it’s not as bad. Otherwise, I’m ready to confess to crimes I didn’t commit.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

So you might be at Ground Zero for Llamageddon?

< mind goes there >

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/56f with a predicted high of 17c/63f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app declares that it will be “Yet another fucking shitty day.” I’m not so sure, it’s dry and there’s a hint of sun, it’s not too hot and not too cold. I’ve been outside already to determine that weather conditions are, in fact, perfect for me.

Oopsie yay and double yay for you! Will someone be filming your singing gig so you can share it with us? And don’t worry about the flaky guy, it’s early days and if he’s really interested then he may well suddenly become a lot less flaky

Wheelie sometimes I read all the posts and think I should reply to everyone, then it goes out of my head, or I can’t think of the right thing to say. Doesn’t mean I’m ignoring people though.

JtC sounds like you should be fussing at the movers if they managed to miss two major items like that. They should either arrange to get them shipped over to you, or compensate you for it somehow. I agree that it might be a better and less traumatic solution to donate them to someone in need, or a local charity if you’ve got one that looks after that kind of thing. Buying new ones where you are would probably be much less hassle all round.

Mooom when I swapped phones, Samsung Switch was a blessing as it did pretty much everything for me. I like it when that happens!

Big hugs to the sickies, hope you all feel better soonest!

Yesterday ended up quite well, Shadow’s vet visit and subsequent blood results were good and he managed the trip without incident. The girlies didn’t take revenge by pooing in my trainers, and everyone seems quite happy again. I logged back into irk when I got home, we released results to final year students so hopefully we have a happy bunch of people and nobody’s grumbled too much.

I did a bunch of little jobs during the day, after releasing results we go through all the virtual learning site areas and released marks/feedback from there. Then after I logged out, I burned about 300 cals doing a Rockfit workout. I dropped my membership down to the basic level because I wasn’t getting enough time to do the number of classes it was offering me (you get more classes the higher up your membership level is) so I was expecting to only get one class a week. When I logged in, I’d got three months listed with two classes per week, plus the bonus “specials” so I had plenty to choose from. I know it will sort itself out and I’ll go back to seeing one class per week, but it was nice to be able to do something else.

After that, I had a bit of sofa time to cool off, then made dinner. We’ve been watching “The Orville”, we watched the last episode of season 2 and started season 3, then found that those are a bit longer so I had a later night than expected.

This morning I’ve already ventured outside to haul the biiiiiiig bin out for collection, and popped across the road to post a birthday card. Normal irk day today, got a departmental meeting in 40 minutes, and then tonight it’s grocery shopping. Oh, joy.

Actually, none of those appeal to me. I apparently lack the girly gene that derives pleasure from such pursuits.

It moved all the stuff, but not the ring tones or my lock screen wallpaper, so I had to do those all over again. Maybe because I was going from a cheapie Android phone to an actual Samsung. Fortunately, all the contact info transferred - that would have been a pain to redo.

It barely got below 70° overnight - hate that I had to sleep with the house closed, but I don’t know when it got under 76° where the a/c is set. A couple of windows are open now, but once it heats up again, they’ll be closed. Dammit.

On the plus side, about 12 hours from when I’m writing this, my sweetie should be home. He was telling me he met cousins he hadn’t seen in 50 years - I know that was exhausting. his mom was the only one of the 6 siblings to leave Indiana, so all of the cousins are close, except for FCD and his brothers. Anyway, yay!!

I need to gather the household trash, tidy the basement, damp mop the kitchen (since I didn’t do it yesterday) and probably something else I forgot. I guess we’ll see how the day goes.

Happy Tuesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 73 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 90 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. Be still my heart. I also foresee some quality cee-mint pond time. Sup shall be chili/cheese/onion/slawdawgs and oven fries. Fart fest to follow.

Pilot from henceforth I shall refer to myself as a RDOS. Except when I forget and type the whole thing out cause I’m old and have only two functionin’ brain cells.

Oopsie yay for the singin’ gig and it is nice to know you still got it ain’t it!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Good morning.

It’s 49F and mostly cloudy outside. Our expected high temperature is 71F, with partly cloudy skies later in the day.

Yesterday was cool and rainy here, and even cooler up in the mountains. For now, at least, the PNW has escaped the big heatwave. Tomorrow is supposed to be bright and sunny with 80F temperatures, but the clouds will start moving back in by the weekend (of course!).

Yesterday, I spent five hours on the road. I left my house at 4:00 and reached Mount Rainier National Park and the John Mather Memorial Highway approximately an hour later. It took me another hour and a half to get over the summit, down the other side of the pass, and into Yakima. The drive was totally worth it, though. I was stopped by a stag elk first and then after him four more times for herds of deer and elk crossing the road. I had the whole road to myself, which was wonderful, I was in no rush and enjoyed the wildlife. Once in Yakima, I dropped off the stuff I needed to drop, turned around, and headed back home. Right after returning onto Hwy 410, just past Naches, I had to stop for a small herd of bighorn sheep. On Facebook, I posted that they were antelopes, but in fact, they were bighorn sheep. Talk about a brain fart! Anyway, after that, the drive back was serene; just me, the road, wildflowers, waterfalls, snow, fog, and more deer on the way home. I was back in my house by 9:30, and it would have been sooner, but I stopped at a fruit stand for some fresh strawberries.

I too often feel like people will think I’m ignoring them when I don’t quote everyone. I’m not, I read all your posts and celebrate or commiserate with each of you. I’m just bad at remembering everything, especially since I mostly post once a day, and it’s hard to keep up with all of you.

JtC, I’m sorry that things just keep going sideways for the move. I would check your contract with the movers, because that’s a big miss!

Oopsie! So good to see you again! Congrats on getting rid of some responsibility/stress, the new gig, and a date!

FCM, yay for your sweetie arriving home tonight!

I suppose I should finish my coffee and start the dishwasher. My husband left some dishes on his desk, so I need to load those first.

I’m showered and dressed. I finally got around to making the cuke-onion salad (sans strawberries! :stuck_out_tongue: ) - it’s marinating in the fridge. I gathered the household trash. Next step - the basement… rah!

I’ll have both kids on Thursday since the school will be closed for some teacher event. They should entertain each other much of the day and I’ll take them to a playground so their mom can pick them up after work. At least that’s the plan now - who knows what Thursday will bring.

I went to HomeGoods and purchased some tall blue-glazed planter pots, and planted Thai basil, garlic chives, and tarragon in them. Then I lined them up along our new fence in the backyard and they look very nice. I’m looking forward to using the Thai basil in cooking. I love a Thai stir-fry with basil, garlic and chiles. I already used the tarragon in some foil-baked halibut for dinner yesterday. That’s one powerful herb: a tiny leaf or two on each halibut filet perfumed it strongly.

Today it’s off to Hollister to soak up some cooler weather and have a nice drive in the country, followed by a tri-tip burger at the Dunneville market. This is a place famous for its tri-tip, and they also make burgers. Why choose between the two? They’ll make you a big grilled burger and top it with lots of thin-sliced barbecued tri-tip, and in addition top it with bacon. It’s my favorite burger anywhere.

Then back home to wash windows. We’re having a service wash the outsides of the windows, but I’m doing the insides. I’m doing just a couple per day, because it’s a major chore and I don’t have to rush because I’m retired now. It’ll be nice to have clean windows. We haven’t done them in two or three years.

Off to the new job. I am to learn online for a few hours. Hopefully, like the other impossible training one, I will get food.

Free food is nice. A regular paycheck so you don’t have to rely on free food is better. Hope this training goes well for you and the job works out.

I’m at the airport waiting for my flight to Chicago. Yay! Supposed to board in 35 minutes. The plane is at the gate. Fingers crossed everything stays smooth for an on-time departure.

Good morning all. Up about 6:30am, thought I would sleep in after the last two days, but nope, my body likes to see us up bright and early, so browsing away on the internet. Nothing much on the agenda but leaving Thorsday on vacation so need to start planning for that, so I don’t forget anything critical (like, for example, tickets and clothes…). Another hot one, 80F now heading to 94F again–and then it’ll get hot this weekend…

Coppertone, hope the training goes well.

JtC, I’ll echo the other MMP’ers, time to get fussy with the movers. And they might be willing to come back out and move them, your stuff probably hasn’t left the area yet, a big semi moving van can hold 2-3 households of stuff and sometimes it takes a few days to consolidate. Hope Hubs is calmer today and has abandoned the trailer idea.

boo fae, watched the first season of “The Orville” but never got around to the rest. Maybe a summer project for me.

Taters, that sounds like a marvelous drive (long as you don’t have too close an encounter with the wildlife). Seen herds of Buffalo on the road in Yellowstone and Custer State Park, but never the variety you saw.

lucky, I predict happy eating is in your future…

Wheelie, quick and hassle-free flight.

Alrighty then, need to finish the morning internetting and be about the day. All y’all have a good one.
