So the usual 100 and 200 Slides today. Of course there was 200 tons of stuff coming down that wasn’t supposed to be there.
Me: “So I rescanned it, and it changed, some going out, some staying the same.”
Screaming O: “Don’t scan it. there’s a glitch, and it changes back in forth depending on how many times you scan it!”
Me: “So…is this new, or something they should have told me 4 years ago?”
Screaming O: “It’s been going on for a month.”
Me: “…”
But it got fixed, heaved on the belt, and at the end all Hazardous Ken and I had to deal with was 30 cases of Chinese vases that had been turned to powder. Plus a couple of other things.
But laundry is drying, bacon and aigs have been et, and the S.E.G. has been fed. Nap time.
Well if I was closer, I would. For a beer or 3.
I had a gin&tonic, and I opened the tonic bottle with the Official Aldi Aisle Of Shame RDOS Fridge Mounted Bottle OpenerTM. It tastes extra sloth-y.
Does your church perhaps hold something like a Wednesday night service? I understand attending church is important to you, but so is earning your daily bread.
God helps those who help themselves.
Heh.
I have every sympathy.
I’ve simply started using disposable boxes. Figured with the amount of environmental impact washing plastic with hot water, etc. it was roughly even.
It helps that through my current job, I have nearly unlimited access to boxes.
Scoop a coupla times during the week to keep things under control, then toss the whole thing on Trash Day and start over.
I like those sort of museums and a griddle could come in handy at times.
I also thought that sounded pretty good, but it is on the other side of the state and I don’t want to try to transport a hot dish. I’m going to get off my butt and make date bars in a bit.
Offers you some good coffee and dark chocolate.
(everyone here loves the litter robot)
We got our water bill today and HOLY COW!!! According to the bill, we are using a thousand gallons of water a day. There are no wet spots in the yard and hubs looked into the crawl space which is also nice and dry.
When the plumbers were out the first time, we had them put a house shut-off valve in the house instead of down in the crawl space. They had a really hard time shutting the water off at the main valve and told me to call the water company and tell them that the valve and meter needed to be replaced. I called and someone came and looked at it, but nothing else was done.
After 30 years in Texas, this made me do a double-take.
Drive time from El Paso to Houston is over 10 hours, according to Teh Googlez, and I don’t know if their algorithm accounts for potty breaks or if you’re expected to just hold the wheel with one hand and the empty Gatorade bottle with the other.
Floozying in the shower, are we?
{ ominous music }
Shit, I gotta pull on some pants and get to work. Someone has to support what remains of civilized society 'round here!
Had a break in the rain so mowage was achieved. Note to self, don’t go 2 weeks between mows. The lawnmowers (both the machine and the user) were unhappy.
Mrs L.A. vacuumed the front yard today. ‘If you get a self-propelled lawnmower, I’ll mow the lawns.’ I don’t know how many years it’s been, but this might be the first time she used it. I mowed the back lawn, and then hacked and pulled the damnable blackberries, creeping vines, and other weeds from around the greenhouse. I piled everything on top of the pile in the burn pit. We’ll have to wait for a dry day after the burn ban is off to burn it. As for the rest of the brambles behind the greenhouse, we’ll have to use some Agent Orange.
Yeah, I’ve come to realize that upstate NY has become a jungle. I’ve got vines trying to take the electric service to my house down. Wasn’t like this 20 years ago.
(Do you folks over there not have screens for your windows? I might not like you so much if the answer is no.)
Oh yeah. The munchies can be a serious issue. I’ve pretty much stopped getting them anymore, which is a very good thing.
Texas is the 2nd largest state in the country, AZ is the 6th. WV is the 41st largest state and would probably fit in the Dallas-FT. Worth area. Its size and lack thereof has made me blink too.
…maaaaybe
But even so, we only have a 50 gallon water heater and I do not floozy in cold water so that is just a small part of the supposed usage.
I’m sure it will get figured out after way too many phone calls and fussing.
considers that to be a good thing.
How are your feet?
Kudzu is the cause of many issues here. Harry cuts it down whenever he sees it in this neighborhood, but I’ve seen some power poles that are almost covered with it.
Bella is still acting like she’s in heat so I’m going to make an appointment locally and have blood work done. If we have to pay to have her spay finished, so be it.
I brought one of the brothel lamps into my room and the light shining off the beads makes me happy, so I’m going to try to figure out where I can put the other one. Bella and GG don’t seem interested in messing with fringe or beads because they are too interested in each other. Here’s hoping that continues!
Afternoon all. Left home about 8am and got back around 3:30pm, after refereeing 3 games in 90F+ heat. Took extra water breaks, for the kids and for me, and no one passed out or got sick, so I guess it was a success. Left the last field just before the monsoon hit, so my timing at least was pretty good. Home now and not planning on moving very much for the rest of the day, my feet are letting me know they have had quiet enough work for now. Dinner will be light and whenever I work up the ambition to get over to the kitchen.
Coppertone, best wishes on the job.
Taters, the worse thing about vacations is coming back to work; hope it isn’t as bad as you think.
wet one, some days are like that; just one long PITA. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
FCM, congra-rats to Daughter’s team with the Dragon Boat race.
JtC, as one who has gotten those Devine Bovine water bills before, I know how you feel. Sounds like the water folks may have to do some digging to find a leak of that size. Hope things work out for you.
VanGO, I try to mow at least every 8-9 days, know what you mean if it goes to long. And concur with JtC, kudzu is the bane of most Southern lawns and gardens, that stuff can grow like…well, like kudzu.
OK, guess I should look into adding some sustenance to my body, refereeing on 2 hostess cupcakes and a bottle of Pepsi Zero is not quite an even trade. Take care all.
Howdy Y’all! We were top of the game RDOS today. Cee-mint pond time, nappage, day drinkin’, and foragin’ for sustenance. Best of all, no leavin’ da cave all day. Plus it rained a little while ago and looks like more could be on the way. Bring it on, I say!
No kudzu up here, yet. Some of the vines look like grape leaves, and I know some of them are morning glories. The grape looking ones are worse, cuz they get woody. And the bastards don’t provide any real grapes, just little tiny ones.
Back in the days before dedicated cat boxes were common, my aunt always used the shallow boxes that canned goods were shipped in and sand.
Coming into Texas from Louisiana on I10, you’re on mile marker 810, so crossing that state is a two day trip. Here, Memphis to Bristol is 586 miles, so a pretty good drive, but crossing on I65 (north / south) is only about an hour and a half if you miss commuter traffic in Nashville.
I took Nelson with me for errands today. The nice lady at Staples gave him a treat and then we hit the dog park. A couple of his little buddies were there, but he also made a couple more new friends, so win-win for the small dog side.
Home again and digesting supper. I’ll mess around in the studio for a bit after internettin’.
Me: “This laundry basket is heavy for some reason.” < yanks violently out of dark closet, spilling contents >
Perturbed cat: < streaks out of avalanche of towels and underwear >
Anyways, I’m watching preseason handegg, and having a Sazarac.
The Small Egyptian God, yes.
I hope it’s just a moved decimal point on the reading.
Wow, Wilmington to Asheville is only 329 miles. But if you keep driving:
