(Old) On this day in history in the MMP

Morning all. Got up to micturate at 6am, laid back down to doze until 7am, ended up waking at 8:30, so guess I was more tired yesterday than I thought. Nothing much on the schedule, do have a soccer practice with the 8-year olds this afternoon, so that gives me something to look forward to. Otherwise a day of sloth is planned. Already 81F and heading to the mid-90’s later today, so time spent outside of the AC will be limited.

FCM, I tend to agree with Nettie, that many incidents in that time would tend to indicate an internal problem (hacking) and you might want to consider another source. But enjoy the evening with the kids.

Boo fae, swampy, must have missed it, what is OSTM?

And due to my late awakening, it’s nearing First Meal time, so will head to the kitchen in a little bit. Enjoy Thorsday all

Laundry day, which is always a barrel of laughs. We were going to try to get our hairs cut today, but the haircutter is not coming in because of the covid outbreak.

Made zucchini bread again, this time with pecans because I couldn’t find the walnuts.

Still awaiting Q’itih’s ashes to be returned from the cremation service. That’s not going to be a good day, I’m afraid. The wife is still on the edge of tears much of the time and this will likely reset the clock.

hey has anyone heard from nellie recently? it just dawned on me she hasn’t been around the last week or two …

Mrs. L.A. just wished me a Happy Anniversary.

DOH!

I’ve said that our anniversary is easy to remember 08/15/2015. 0815 hours is 2015 hours. But I haven’t been paying attention to what the date is.

I suggested going to Everson for Schnitzel. She said we could go eat crabs and prime rib at the Nooksack Casino and then watch one of her patients play his guitar and sing. Then she said, ‘Or… We could go get Schnitzel, and then go see [her patient].’ Then she noted that you don’t get leftovers from the buffet, and you do from the Schnitzel house. So that’s what’s for dinner tomorrow.

Considering it was VISA that alerted us to the fraud, I seriously doubt it’s an internal issue. I’m more inclined to suspect either websites where we made purchases or charges made during travel. I wouldn’t be surprised to find a connection between our purchases in Falkland and last night’s Channel Island attempt. I have no reason to suspect our credit union’s employees.

MIL continues to lose it. She’s asked 3 times within 30 minutes about what time her dentist appointment is. Her short-term memory is shot. Last night, she counted the money in her wallet half a dozen times - just like FIL used to do in his last days. It’s rough.

They’ll be leaving shortly and I’ll change her bedding.

When I get up at night to answer nature’s call, I often step on warm spots. Not wet, just warm. Ziva isn’t particular about where she sleeps… goofy feline…

Sorry to hear that, although you’ve probably posted about it before now. I usually don’t have the patience to read all of the posts that have arrived since my last visit.

Man, I didn’t realize how much a creature of habit I’d become until this week! I’m definitely happy to support my friend while her hubby and son are out of town, but I already miss my routine. Heh.

After I finished working yesterday Wife BFF and I went out and had burgers for dinner, so by the time I got home I’d been out of the house for ~12 hours. On one hand that’s a long time to leave the doggy alone, but on the other hand literally all she does these days is sleep. But what’s harder now vs the last time I did this – two years ago – is that Bailey can’t get up on the couch anymore, so these days I don’t really get any time with her in the evenings. Instead of sleeping next to me, she sleeps on the bath mat or in one of the BR dog beds. Which, I realized last night, means that if I’m gone all day I hardly see her at all; really just the two times I take her outside. That made it a little extra hard to leave her again this morning, but we just have today and tomorrow to get through and then our routine goes back to normal. We’ll both survive.

Why yes, I am super sappy about my dog. She’s been my only housemate for the past 15 years (we moved out of my ex’s when she was 10 months old), and for the last 4.5 years it’s been just me and her all day every day.

Wife BFF will be coming downstairs for lunch soon. My standing morning meeting got cancelled, but I have meetings at 1pm and 2pm and then a voice lesson at 3:15 (though it might get cancelled: yesterday my voice teacher warned me that she’s been getting over something and is still feeling pretty icky). If the lesson happens, it will be a good test of how well sound travels between the dining room and the home office upstairs.

I’m glad I decided to only work 1/2 day tomorrow. It’s been nice to have that to look forward to this week.

LOL!!

:tada:!

Is he also still having any soreness from the crash? :frowning:

Aww, you guys. :people_hugging:

Happy anniversary! :clinking_glasses:

Today used to be my parents’ anniversary (they divorced in the '80s), and it was also my mom’s brother’s anniversary (he died last year; his widow died a couple of months ago). Yep, my mom got married on her brother’s 5th anniversary…I no longer remember the story of why/how that happened.

So despite all the stuff in smalls running well, they still managed to overload the belt. What is with these people? I got sent up to The Mez to help out the 2 new-ish clerks, then down to the 300 Slide. I did my Senior Day shopping at HT, and came home.

I find it very cleansing to get rid of possessions. It’s the Catholic in me.

It’s the bloody English! < waves at boofae >

It unfortunately will be a bad day.

Her last post was 3 days ago.

I just had to re-apply for my part time job helping the school district with their plays. They defined it a little differently this go-round, but there aren’t that many people in the area that do what I do.

No, he seems to have gotten over that, I think. He hasn’t mentioned it, and since he’s not working on the boat, he’s actually getting some rest.

I’m the one who needs rest - 4 hours of sleep just ain’t gonna cut it. I just hope the concert doesn’t run long tonight. I’m pretty sure I’m letting Daughter drive tomorrow. I’ll fill her tank and cover the tolls, but we’ll use her car.

OK, laundry is done - downstairs I go…

Here in sunny central/maybe northern California, there’s just the slightest hint of autumn to come. We’re getting a few yellow leaves on our silver birches, and I saw the first few scarlet leaves on local Chinese pistache trees. We’ve had several nights where it got below 60 degrees and we could turn off the A/C and open the upstairs windows. It’s still summer, but the nasty heatwaves from last month have relaxed their grip and daytime temperatures are in the tolerable 80s.

Maybe I should start a thread for the Dopers to debate about. Where does central California end and northern California begin? We’re 25 miles south of San Jose, so in my opinion, we are right on the cusp.

Isaac Asimov said he thought Roger Zelazny was a truly outstanding author – but think how much better he’d be if his name were Roger Aardvark!

No job in sight but thank God, my church is getting me another bus pass and toilet paper.

I always figured Fresno was the cutoff (or Monterey, if you’re on the coast).

Howdy Y’all! Stuff got did and we were bears who brunch. Then, might want to grab your pearls and have a faintin’ couch ready, when we got back to da cave, I accomplished mowage! Of course that called for another shower afterward, as well as a beerverage out on the back porch to admire my irk, and then nappage. Up soon will be Netflix, chill, and popcorn.

Flyboy happy anniversary!

MetalMouse OSTM is BooFae’s over-stimulated team manager, who, from how she is described, is an ADHD squirrel.

Evenin’ all.

Been dropping in occasionally to be nosy, but not very often… Turns out doing a PhD and renovating a house + garden at the same time doesn’t leave you with much free time or brain power. Who knew?

Am currently taking a week off to work on the house, thus cutting stuff down from ‘waaaaay too much to do’ down to ‘too much to do’, which is nice. It would be nicer if I wasn’t having to spend my week off scraping wallpaper and fixing plaster though.

Afternoon all. Pedaling to nowhere has been accomplished, sweaty things are in the dryer getting the sweat out, and soccer will be coached in about 75 minutes. My index toe has turned several interesting colors but the pain is virtually gone so at least I’ll be more comfortable chasing the kids around. Given that it’s about 95F outside running the kids (or the coach) is not in the game plan. Ham-n-cheesers are on the schedule for dinner, but might change my mind (hey, pancakes and bacon can sub as dinner, can’t they?).

Cookie, Zucchini and pecans are not two items I often think of together, but if it works, more power to you.

Flyboy, nice recovery on your Oops! regarding your anniversary.

FCM, good luck on the credit card stuff. And I can remember my dad hardly remembering something from 10 minutes before…old age is hell. Sweet dreams tonight, sounds like you can use them.

Oopsie, give Bailey some special treat once the visiting time is over.

doggio, HT = Harris-Teeter, right? (I’ll figure out all the acronyms sometime before the entropic heat death of the universe).

To this ex-Midwesterner and current Ali-baman, Northern California ends a bit south of San Francisco and Southern California ends just barely north of Los Angeles, with everything in-between Terra Incognita.

swampy, you workaholic, take care now!!   And thanks for the explanation, see my comment to doggio as to me and acronyms.

Nut (or maybe Hazel?), sounds like life has handed you a truckload of lemons to make lemonade out of; best wishes.

Well, about time to get into soccer practice gear and plan on heading out to the field. Will grab an apple before I leave. Take care all.

Well, she forgot once. Now we’re even.

If that’s what sounds appealing to you, I see no reason why not. I’m not exactly locked into “X food can only be consumed at Y meal”.

Hey! I didn’t kill anyone and from their perspective, it was a successful visit, so score.

I have something to write up that’s due tomorrow, and I’m engaged in post-visit clean up. My lovely wife is out visiting today so I’m doing some house stuff as a surprise for her return.

Trying to move my Ozempic dose up since it’s no longer working; today I went from 1.0 to 1.25 mg and if that works, I’ll increase to 2.0 over the month. The clinical instructions are to jump from 1.0 to 2.0 mg in one week, to which I say no, sah! with my PCP’s assent. I can’t imagine a better strategy for making myself violently ill than doing such a big increase.

We ordered a couple of yards of fabric from Spoonflower to make a dust cover for our main monitor. It should be fun to encounter in the dining area.
