(OLD) Out and About in the MMP

I wanted to see them too! Very cute!

(How did you get the video to post, I took a video at today’s jam session but can’t get it to work.)

The potluck/jam session was a lot of fun. The music was in tune, the dogs didn’t get at the food and the weather was perfect. I got there early to help set up which would allow me to leave early for Tai-chi.

It’s been many years since I saw someone playing spoons, but this old boy (black cowboy hat) sure rocked them!

I did indeed make too much coleslaw, but I have been informed that chickens like coleslaw so we won’t be eating it for the next week. My friend is probably going to be eating pulled pork for a month with the leftovers, but at least it is easy to vacuum pack and freeze.

Friend was so cute, “I didn’t expect people to bring all this food” and I’m all like, “Deb, you invited 30 old retired women to a potluck, what else could you possibly expect?”

I really didn’t want to go to Tai-chi today, I was pretty tired after helping set everything up, but I forced myself to and I’m glad that I went. There was only one other student today :frowning: Her Wednesday morning classes always fill up so I think what’s happening is that all of her students are old retired women who want to spend their time with their kids on the weekends (when the kids aren’t working) so go on Wednesdays instead.

HURRAY for Spot and Darci, they so very lucky to have you. Hurray for you too!

That’s great! Money is always a good thing and I’m glad you have some  Now go spend it, LOL!!!

Mass produced homes are rarely perfectly square which is why aftermarket cabinets rarely fit right out of the box…which is something we learned the hard way.

I shamelessly stole “flying food” from doggio  You can tell that it was shameless because I keep using it in front of him, LOL! If we don’t get at least one belly laugh out of GG every day, we worry that he’s getting sick.

Cracks up.

Update:
Spot is still hiding.
The Shelter called in the middle of my nap. I am now $25 poorer, but I will be 38lbs. dog-ier after 4:30p.m. on Thursday.
I am having a Vieux Carré. :tumbler_glass:

It reminds me of the theater in downtown Savannah. You’re probably has 200% feweer ghosts, though.

I’ll have to try it.

Opens a bottle of mead and clicks glass with you! :clinking_glasses:

Of course there is no surprise about this at all. Darci picked you and Foster Dad saw it.

Such a lucky dog!

How old is Spot? I can’t see the color well in the pic, Black tux?

But anyhow…HURRAY!!!
:confetti_ball:
:confetti_ball: :sparkler: :fireworks:

I thought it was as good as what we got off the truck.

He’s a 2 year old boy, black with a white face, and completely invisible.

Well, yes, of course he is. I was imagining I was seeing a cat when actually I was seeing a small dust bunny.

I’m sure he will come out soon, this is all new and different and scary. Of course you know this, but a little reassurance to a new daddy never hurts.

The best cat in the world was invisible for weeks, but when he finally learned to trust and love, he gave us everything he had for as long as he could.

Yay for new critters doggio! May you share many happy years together.

JtC, I can’t afford $900 for his teeth cleaning. That’s why I’m looking for another vet. I’m sure that not all of them charge that much.

Went on a ramble with my SIL today, down US 31 to Pulaski (we weren’t really that far from metal mouse ). We stopped at an historic cemetery, at a country BBQ joint, picked up some goodies at a little bakery and bought a pair of jeans at a thrift shop.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Well, a big bowl O’Salad, three graham crackers and way too much Pepsi Zero have me in a more mellow mood now. Combined with a couple of hours of you tube vids I should be ready for bed around 11pm and we’ll see when I wake up tomorrow–if some t-boomers don’t wake me first…

Yeah, red, about an hour out, sounds like a nice little side trip.

doggio, I am very happy about your 38lb weight gain. Drink Up!!

JtC, looks like some toe-tappin’ music was played there. And may the chickens grow fat on your coleslaw.

    Absolutely perfect response!

VanGo, like I said above, hoping to get my first mowage of the season in tomorrow. May we both succeed.

Real Fish, glad that MFN got the vehicle they wanted, and hope Dad-unit does well enough on his own. And don’t mention brownies…I haven’t had any in a long time (I have no resistance at all to them, a pan-full of them would not last 48 hours in my presence), but I bet they are good.

Pilot, enjoy your 3-day travel. I’ve never been through Guatemala City airport, hope the overnight furnishings are nice. And using Tri-Rail or Miami Metro?

OK, 9pm so once the Southwest Chief checks in at LaPlata, Missouri (it’s a Rail-fan thing…) I need to get on with my reading and consider sleepage. All y’all take care.

Happy Saturday!

It has been an exhausting couple of days.
I see there are 105 unread posts!

The weather has been good, although a bit rainy today.

I don’t know why they called my son back to irk, he got off early every day. He got off 1230 Wed am, 430 Thur am, and 300 Fri am. Very annoying and I got very little sleep.
I astayed up Tuesday night because I knew he was getting off early and thought there was no sense in going to bed. I had hoped to go to bed early Wednesday night, but Adam wanted to play stupid cat games and Ripple refused to eat and take his pills. I got to bed around 11.
That morning I was so tired I was literally shaking. I went to the park anyway and wanted to leave early, but B/H mom called and said she was on the way so I stuck around. She got there right around the time I would normally be leaving. I should have left.

Anyway, I have had to accept the fact that the nights my son is irking I am not going to get much sleep.
Ripple needs to go out in the middle of the night now, so I am going to have to get up and let him out.
I need to find something to sleep on downstairs so at least I am not running up and down the stairs. That wakes me up too much to go right back to sleep.
Also, Ripple is giving me a lot of grief about taking his pills. He does much better with my son for whatever reason.
Ripple has gotten picky about eating. What he wolfs down one day he sniffs and walks away from the next. I can’t put salmon oil in his food anymore. He won’t eat cottage cheese now. He doesn’t want home cooked food anymore. He won’t take his pills in cheese anymore. He was taking them in bologna, but not now. He’s getting suspicious of Vienna sausages, and he no longer will eat peanut butter ripple ice cream. Tonight, we snuck the pills in some Perdue chicken nuggets. Last night I put them in a McDonald’s hamburger. One night I made scrambled eggs, 9 of them. Ripple chowed them down and gave me a where the hell is the rest look. A few nights later, I made another batch and he and Echo both ate about half and walked away.
The other night I didn’t get to bed until after 11 trying to get his pills in him.

He barely has eaten anything today though.

Ripple is… I don’t even know what to say.
Last Saturday night, we thought he was dying. He couldn’t get up and he was so weak.
Then suddenly, he jumped up, a bit wobbly and went outside. After that, he started improving. His new tumors shrunk and went away. His huge tumor under his armpit has shrunk down to about a fourth of its size. His belly isn’t so bloated.
I emailed the oncologist and he put Ripple back on Palladia.
That is good news.

FCM I found this on line
quality-of-life-scale

Congrats on new battery Metal Mouse

Red We almost never see squirrels on the big dog side. The small dog side has quite a few.
The side’s tree line is maples I think, full of squirrels. The tree lines on the big side are fur trees, not too comfortable for the squirrels I guess.

I hate the bushy tailed tree rats, my yard is full of them.

All of my passwords are different versions of fuckyou, fuckoff, kissmyass, gotohell, etc. Creating passwords puts me in a bad mood. One time I had to give my password to a CS person irking on my account. He laughed, and changed my password to Happy54.
What was horrible once, I was so pissed off at OAOASO that I changed a password to a joint account to OAOASOSUX. He called for the password and I said I can’t give it to you, I’m not home and I don’t remember what it is. I thought I could get home and change it to something more suitable. He pushed and pushed so I said fine, it is O A O A S O S U X. He didn’t catch it, but his friend sitting next to him watching him write it down burst out laughing.

Doggio, I guess I have to keep reading to find out if you got Darci

Okay, I skipped ahead CONGRATS!

I know this makes me a horrible home owner, but my back yard is mostly wild violets and dandelions right now. I love it, patches of purple with spots of yellow.
There’s a lot of clover too.
Of course, it has to be mowed, what little grass there is, is pretty high.

When I lived in Baltimore, one whole side of my yard was wild violets. I pulled up all the grass and once I got rid of it, I never had to mow that side of the yard again. I could live with that again.

Sorry for all the friggin typos

fur trees indeed lol

O am flippin tired and going to bed

I’ll catc h up tomorrow.

Conga rats on the new additions, doggio. Will you keep Darci’s name?

I certainly get that and I hope you can find a good vet who doesn’t charge as much.

It most certainly was! I was wishing that we had left room for dancing, cause I used to love me some two-stepping to the music those guys gave us.

One of the deserts were brownies that had been cut into little one inch squares…just for folks like you and hubs.

:people_hugging:

Can you put a doggy door in for Ripple? I’d probably fall down the stairs and kill myself if I had to let an urgent critter out to pee in the middle of the night. Would he use one of those fake grass pee pads?

I understand Murphy beds are more comfy than pull out sofa beds.

That sounds delightful and so much better for the ecology. Butterflies and bees need that sort of thing, so I think you should just leave it until someone complains.

I did a load of laundry, made Asian Stir Fry, and put out a saucer of chicken pieces for Invisible Cat

I really haven’t decided. It depends on how her personality emerges once she realizes she’s safe.

It makes you a good, and ecologically sound home owner.
{{{{sari and Ripple}}}}

How often have you peeked in at the bowl or at the litter box? Be honest here, I’m sure you have memorized the placement of each bit of kitty litter by now…or at least that is how we react…but it is well known that we are more than just a little indulgent when it comes to our pets so maybe you are saner.

{{{ripple}}} I have no other words.

He came into roomie’s bathroom, and allowed some petting, but holding is still right out. He got a clipped ear, so he was fixed as a feral. As I told the lady at the adoption place, “If I woke up without my balls, and a chunk of my ear chopped off, I’d have trust issues, too.”

That’s progress! Tipped ears just add to their natural good looks.

We have discovered windows. Wait till he finds out about flying foods.

Alss, if he keeps making the high pitched squeaking noises, his name is gonna change to “Beaker”

The purple and yellow sounds pretty to me and good food for butterflies, bees and birds.

I’m hope that Ripple will start eating ripple ice cream, or at least something, especially to get his medicine.

Doggio, so happy to read about your weight gain(38#) and the new stain (Spot). Looking forward to seeing pictures and hope the two get along.

JtC, that music group looks like fun, especially the spoons.

Weather is wet, and we missed the opportunity to cut the grass when it was dry, so the yard’s a bit overgrown. At least it’s getting water - after last summer’s drought, which continued into winter, we’re still worried about water levels, especially as this winter’s snowfall was very light. Seems California stole our water. (Joking - I know they need it, but wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could share?)

Today’s lunch is chili from the freezer. I think there is only food from 2022 in the freezer, since I got out the beef broth from 2021 (!). Still have to go through the remainder of the containers and make sure there’s nothing from the first half of 2022 left.

Was thinking about making scones for breakfast, but I’ll do that on Saturday, so then we can have scones on both weekend days.

Now the washer’s whining, so I have to go move the clothes.
