I think I’ve been away from the MMP for less than a week, but it feels like forever! I actually scrolled through all of the 200+ posts I missed in last week’s thread, and the 110 posts I was behind on this week. It has taken a good chunk of the afternoon, but time well spent!
I filed my taxes in late February: I owed the feds $3 more than I got back from the state. Worked for me.
So, Bailey has a cyst (or wart or something) on her front right leg. On 4/7 I noticed that she’d been licking it a lot, and it had broken the skin and become an open wound. I took her to the vet on 4/8. Some drama and bs ensued with the doc she’d been seeing since the pandemic started (partly detailed in last week’s thread), and I took her back on 4/12 for a new bandage – after taking photos for the new doc – and to schedule the procedure to remove whatever it is. The new vet only does surgery on Tuesdays: we couldn’t do it today (I’m going out of town on Sunday for my uncle’s funeral and Bailey will need to board), so it’s scheduled for a week from today. In the meantime, though, they don’t want the same bandage to stay on for more than 4-5 days: she went back yesterday for a fresh one, and we’ll go again on Friday morning. I’ll drop her off at the kennel Sunday morning, and drive up to NJ: I’ll come back Monday afternoon/evening, but I won’t pick her up until first thing Tuesday morning – at which time I’ll take her straight to the vet for her surgery. I think that’ll be easier on her than bringing her home and then taking her to the vet the next morning, plus this way I can take my time leaving NJ on Monday and not have to worry about getting to the kennel before they close. Luckily she isn’t sick or anything, and she seems to not notice/mind the bandage at all. Today I ordered both an inflatable “donut cone” and a post-surgery “suit” for her, and will see which one works best.
I recently started binge-re-watching The Good Fight, via Paramount+. I signed up for that service specifically so I could watch the final season (last year?). Turns out there’s some good stuff on it – like The Good Wife, which I already binge-re-watched. This is my first time re-watching The Good Fight, and it’s interesting now that I have three years with the NAACP under my belt: my perspective and attention to certain details are slightly different this time. Anyway I am completely enjoying this show, again, and I look forward to watching it. It’s kind of sad how excited I am about tonight’s plans to watch some episodes while eating pizza and popcorn.
I have some thoughts related to last week’s thread before I get to this week’s…
I live a couple miles closer to DCA than IAD, but I hardly ever use DCA: because of the access road to IAD, it’s usually both easier and faster to go there. I haven’t flown since January 2020, but the next time I do I’ll be a little more deliberate about my airport choice.
That looks very cool! I nearly ordered a Van Gogh set today, but I’m trying to hold off on unnecessary pricey purchases until after the dog’s surgery – and also the anesthetic dental cleaning that she’s on a wait-list for. ( =

Woo hoo!!! Can’t wait for the official “gotcha” pictures!
I grew up mostly near Baltimore: my dad still lives there, and my brother is in the 'burbs.
When I lived in England I went to the British school, and was in a play written by one of the teachers: there was a scene where one character asks about a certain fee and is told it’s the value added tax, and he responds, “Oh, well VAT’s alright, then.” We were a bunch of 12/13-year-olds and that cracked all of us up! I mean, it’s been almost 40 years and I still remember this line!
Nice!!
The emotion is completely understandable, but congratulations!!
*phew*!
Aww, no…I’m so sorry.
