[OLD] Have As Good A New Monday MMP As Possible

thanks @purplehorseshoe for the inspiration.

Here’s hoping this finds us all having “as good a day as possible”.

I’ll be the one stumbling in mid-morning rueing the hour after I take my pill before I can have that first :coffee:.

@FairyChatMom will have already organized the entire Eastern seaboard and hung the laundry out in the freshening morn.

Carry on.

FIRST!!!

Just cause I could.

I’m retired, I’m lucky to remember what month it is, much less what day of the week I’m currently enjoying.

Have as good of a day as is possible!!!

Oh, but I do have to try to remember to get up early tomorrow because I forgot to fill the bird feeders tonight. If they don’t get their breakfast on a timely basis they perch on the fence make me think about the sparrows in the Dark Half. (Not the classic Hitchcock The Birds, those were big gulls and ravens.)

Second! Always late, ever the procrastinator.

I’ll be the one blinking awake at 11:45 a.m. cursing at how “early” it is, running to potty with some spectacular bedhead, then crashing back out with the cat for one or two last blessed hour(s) of rest before finally getting up for a wake’n’bake.

ETA: I wasn’t the one who came up with the phrase. I’d have to go back to last week’s MMP to find it, but someone else posted the phrase originally.

Wow. I really do have the memory of a lobotomized goldfish. I did come up with that - and promptly mixed it up with someone else’s “have the day you deserve” and I’m just gonna go crawl under a rock now.

Ignore me, sometimes I haz the dumbs.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 6c/43f with a predicted high of 9c/49f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Instead of the weather, do you want to talk about that one time you were fucking forced to wear diapers?” Err…no, thank you

Sunday was a lovely day of slothage, I managed to close my eyes to the messy floors and ignored the call of the roll-suck  It’ll wait for another day.

It’s a strange day for me, I’m writing handover notes and finishing up some bits and pieces on my last day in my current dept. I’ve been here almost 9 years, and although I’m only going on secondment for 4 months, there’s no telling if I’ll actually return to that dept or what job I will come back to. When you go on secondment, you get told that you can return to a substantive post in your dept, but there’s no guarantee that the role you left will be the one you come back to. Not that I can imagine many people really wanting the job once they’ve had a few months to try it out!

Good morning, all! It’s currently 54F/12C here in Nashville. I want to be sleeping until the sun is up, but I have to take CtE to the bus. At least I have a few minutes before I have to wake them up to waste time on peruse the boards.

Today is going to be a pretty good day, or so I’m expecting. After the kids are dropped off, I’ll be putting the chocolate on my peanut butter eggs. I haven’t made these before so I’m hoping they come out OK. Then I’m getting together with a friend for lunch. She’s seen how rough things have been for me lately and said she wants to treat me. I really do have the best friends.

I set up my planner for this week and for next month. This week looks relatively light, thank the gods. Last week was appointment after appointment after appointment. April will be a mix of busy and slow weeks, though one will be a major PITA with 2 or three appointments every day. Ah well, keeps me out of trouble, or so they tell me.

Off to go wake CtE and listen to reasons why they can’t go to school today. (Narrator: For all that their mother has sympathy with their depression and anxiety, CtE will be attending school regardless of their mental state. )

First, from the last batch:

While our TR can be loudish, it’s not nearly as bad as you’ve described. And they no longer put peanuts on the tables, but they do have a barrel of bagged nuts at the entrance. We grab a couple on our way out. And I love their salmon!

That’s like when everyone was hawking “fat-free” stuff that was packed full of sugar. C’mon, peoples, there are calories in things other than fat!!

Her battery, after core return and with a veteran’s discount, came to just under $230. She choked. The battery replacement I dread is in the boat - we have 3 and those suckers go for close to $1K each. And they’re HUGE!! But so far, they’re good, so there’s that…

On to today:

Ha ha wrong!!! I actually slept till after 6!!! Never woke once during the night!! It’s a miracle!!! I think all the raking and leaf-hauling yesterday had a little to do with it.

And the reason I woke when I did was a bizarro dream I was having - don’t despair - I’m not going to tell you the stoopit details. Except that it got to the point where I discovered a pan of raw meatballs had been left out all night and dried out and I woke up pissed off that all that meat had to go into the trash. Not the best way to start your day. But I’m caffeinating and mellowing now.

Looks like we’re promised rain on and off between lunch and supper, so my hopes to ready my veggie garden patch are pretty much dashed now. Dammit. However, I’ll push the roll-suck around the basement, gathering graham cracker crumbs. And I need to get some 'nanners at some point. I should probably look for lost science experiments in the fridge before heading to the grocery store.

FCD has a bunch of things to do - some banking for his mom, plus an appointment with the hospice counselor. I hope something there clicks soon - he keeps threatening to quit going, but it’s got to help, right? I can’t remember what else he was going to do but there were several items on his list.

Speaking of lists, I’ve found my 2 boat to-do lists - I can put them on a spreadsheet and we can create a priority/schedule for dealing with them. That’ll keep me busy on a rainy afternoon… for a bit.

And I need to find a new read. Yesterday, I started reading a different author’s take on Regency England, and apart from anachronisms, her style is annoying - she keeps popping in and out of the main character’s head, so it’s tough to keep track of what’s happening and what’s a remembering sequence. And that’s just after the first chapter! I’m pretty sure I won’t bother with chapter 2.

Thus beginneth the last week bit of March.

Have whatever kind of Moanday you want to have!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 82 and mostly cloudy for the day. It’s supposed to rain today, but who knows if it’ll happen. TWPTB are all willy-nilly. We shall have a little cool down over the next couple of days, then back to normal temps. I will call in a refill for my cholesterol (why is that word so hard to spell!) meds this mornin’ when the pharmacy opens and then go pick it up. That is the extent of the planned excitatement for the day. The usual sloth and overall uselessness shall prevail. Sup shall be beastloaf, succotash, mac 'n cheese and rolls. Easy enough to put together and tasty.

BooFae the last day at a gig is always a strange time. I know they’ll miss you and I hope you enjoy the new gig.

ReafFish glad you’re gettin’ treated today. You deserve it even if you are a mean mom who makes CtE go to school.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday or whatever kind of Moanday you desire Y’all!

Seven in the stupid morning and I’ve gotten … lessee … oh, that’s right, NO sleep. Brain went completely hooey on me.
Gave up on this whole “sitting around” nonsense and at least started a load of laundry. My work apron 1a.) missed the last laundry committee meeting, and 2b.) gets the brunt of the sauce/grease/misc splashes at work, so it was kinda the nudge to get that process underway.

But because it has long tie strings, it goes into the zip mesh bag. So, I’ll have to do TWO LOADS OF LAUNDRY today, if I wanna also have clean bras & socks, and 3c.) OMG I think “zip mesh bag” was one of the things from that dream the other night, when I kept wanting to add things to my grocery list but couldn’t, and 4d.) this is the most laundry I have done - or at least, am planning to do - in a single day in who knows how long.

Ok, work enabled me by handing out a bunch of new work shirts to everyone. I quite literally responded with, “Thanks! Guess who’s not doing laundry tonight!”

Um, that’s just … I dunno, awkwardly weird?

Your pharmacy doesn’t give you the option of automatic refills? CVS not only keeps refilling, but if there are no more refills, they’ll contact my doc without me having to do anything. Then they text me when my meds are ready.

Of course, I am, well, me, and surely even CVS recognizes that.

FCD is awake and showered, so I guess it’s my turn now.

Good morning everyone. 46.7 degrees F here with forecast of rain and stuff later. Thankfully my weather app/station gives very accurate readings. I’d hate to go out and discover it’s only 46.6 degrees, that would be bad if I was expecting 46.7 and found I had the wrong coat, right?

Back home after 2 weeks roaming around S Texas (beaches). The fish are fine, and probably still laughing at my attempts to lure them toward my gear. They did get several good meals on my behalf though. Had a good time just hanging out and listening to the surf. We had to use the 4WD on the truck to get far enough to enjoy a private beach. And we never got stuck even once!

Obligatory pic (we had just arrived, hadn’t set up chairs/etc.):

Apparently we missed a lot of rain while gone, so today’s tasks involve mowing my lawn/jungle and trying to get control of it again. I didn’t realize how much stuff would grow in the 2 weeks. This is probably a multi-day task, but I’ll need to get at least the front done today.

Also a battery of tests from the medicants this week. Something stress something – all I know is I have to skip my coffee one morning. Pretty sure that affects my stress level, but they seem insistent I go without it.

Later I need to make the trip to the boat, as the mechanics have finished and declared it’s running great. I need to clean it up so the next mechanic doesn’t think I’m a slob. They spend more time on it than I do, so I want them to have an enjoyable experience. Sigh…

Hope everyone has a good week. (or as good as possible, per the thread title)

And, as usual “accuweather” is full of crap. No one else shows rain today. So I should be able to get some raking/clearing done after all. But first, the roll-suck! Off I go!!

Mornin, all. Today the software developers are coming for a visit. Maybe they’ll finally see that the music game should, yanno, go with the music? We shall see.

Have as good a day as possible, y’all!

I tried to make them go. They curled up on their bed under their comforter and refused to get dressed. They outweigh me and, unlike when they were little. I can’t dress them.

Dealing with their frustration means I’m doubly deserving of being treated.

Stayed up stupid-late for me for no useful reason so slept in to 7:30 & awoke with that unpleasant “I’m going to be draggy until I get my nap” feeling. Despite me staying up a couple extra hours, that still wasn’t as late as Her Ladyship’s norm, so I’ll be solo for a while yet.

As usual 9 months a year I’m outside on the balcony here. It’s about an hour after sunrise. 74F/23C on the way to 87F/31C with that comfy touch of humidity and a gently breeze. Just about perfect. A few joggers out, a few pedestrians, and plenty of workday drivers. Shame about the traffic noise.

My tasks for the day are a) grind a week’s coffee beans, b) buy more cream for said coffee, and c) have a phone meeting with the guy who oversees my money. Oh yeah, and score another nap by the pool. Might even run a load of laundry.

The phone call is usually pretty easy, but as we’re down to the short strokes on planning how to put money into the checking account after my employer stops doing that for good, there’s more than usual to talk about. Sure be nice if the Russians, racists, or rightists don’t destroy our world during the next few years. We’re having a plague of Rs! Or is that a plague of Aaarrrgh!s?

Glad to hear that @TruePisces is getting a proper treat from a proper friend. Virtual friends can do a lot, but only a local can commiserate over free lunch.

Morning all. Youth soccer starts in earnest today, I meet my U10 girls team today at 5pm for their first practice and games start Saturday (weather permitting). That will help keep me in shape (what shape I’m not predicting) along with the gym, might have to start eating more… Also shopping-n-sammich for Moanday will take place in a couple hours.

From last week’s MMP:

Pilot, I think you’re thinking of Logans Roadhouse, Texas Roadhouse is a separate chain that is slightly more civilized (but using the peanut shells is a nice touch…). Hope the financial advice is good.

VanGo, good luck in making people see reason…

yankers, lovely picture, I’ve never been one for lonely stretches of beach (hey, growing up my nearest beach was Lake Erie…) but I can see it does have it’s charms.

shoe, happy laundry day.

swampy, your refill made me count my remaining blood-pressure pills, got 29 left at one per day so should make it to my annual check-up later in April.

FCM, if you get tired of trashy romances, may I recommend “1632” by Eric Flint, the story of a 20th century W. Virgina town sent back in time to Germany in the middle of the Thirty Year’s War. Lots of interesting characters, some romance and lots of derring-do…and multiple sequels if you like it. You can read the whole thing on-line here: 1632 by Eric Flint - Baen Books

No idea that batteries cost that much these days. My car has a battery power screen, I need to look at that to see how it’s doing.

boo fae, happy last day; folks there taking you out to eat or anything (something of a custom in the US of A where I worked).

OK< out to have a day…good, bad or indifferent don’t matter to me. But all y’all take care now.

Thanks - it’s been a busy last day! No, not going out or anything as I’m not really leaving. It’s only 4 months, in the building next door to where I am now, and I’ll still be seeing everyone as I have a regular lunch date with the other assistant team manager on Wednesdays

Mooom, on a similar time travel these, I’ve been re-reading Sarah Woodbury’s “After Cilmeri” series on the Kindle. It’s based on a pivotal event in Welsh history where the last genuine Prince of Wales (Llywelyn ap Gruffyudd) was killed. Except in these books, he didn’t die but was saved by a time-traveller from 21st century America. It ends up being time travel, history and parallel universes, sometimes a bit hard to follow, but good fun.

Off to make a cuppa before my official handover meeting with the boss!

TR used to put buckets of peanuts on the table and shells went on the floor. Then the plague came and that practice was stopped. At least that’s how it was here and in FL.

Thanks, but it doesn’t appeal to me in the least. I don’t like sci-fi stuff much beyond the light versions, like Star Wars. I tend to analyze the bad science too deeply and I get annoyed when it’s over-the-line stoopit.

SIL just called - we’re taking Daughter’s car to the shop, so the logistics of getting the truck to her and getting her car to the shop has been worked out. Maybe I’ll get to raking after lunch??

But I’ve been to CVS and Food Lion, so that’s been accomplished, as has roll-suck. The morning hasn’t been a total waste. Yet.

That explains it. I have not visited a TR since before the plague. And now lacking the ability to gorge on slobbered peanuts, I doubt I’ll visit one again.

I’ve never heard of Logan’s Roadhouse. The internet tells me they’re not anywhere where I’ve lived or visited for work. They seem to prefer smallish towns to major urban / suburban areas. With a few exceptions.

Her Ladyship has arisen and so it’s time to sign off and begin our un-busy day.

FCM, Pilot, I stand (well, sit in my comfy chair) corrected. Just never associated peanuts and loud contry music with Texas Roadhouse. Logan’s does have mighty good meatloaf, however…

Press on.
