This is my opinion, too. Except I’m a bit more enthusiastic about their fries. I can’t think of anyone’s fries that I like better. Everything else, though - meh.
Despite both of us just getting over a flu/cold/whatever, we went out and got a new favorite dish: bo ne. It’s a Vietnamese dish of filet mignon and over-easy eggs served on a sizzling platter. On the platter as well are pork meatballs, pate and onions, all bubbling in some sort of savory and sweet sauce. They serve it with a big, light, crisp baguette and some salad. It makes a heck of a breakfast on a Sunday, and we were both in need of it to help this bug go away.
Inaugurated it on my eggs this morning. Heat & flavor was great. The crunch was a bit disconcerting on poached eggs at first, but I quickly got used to it. It’ll be awesome on more solid fare.
Having lunch in GUA. A “small” sangria served in a 16 oz beer glass filled to the brim. Too tasty. Bacon, onion, & pepper mini pizza is coming. All in an open air tin shack downtown in the shadows of 15 story buildings. Giant brick ovens pouring out heat into the already ~80F weather. Sunday afternoon & lots of families out shopping, eating, and promenading.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, had the met about the Bishop’s visit, and had N.O.L. at the church, as the coffee hosts went all out. Little chikin and aig sallit sammiches, artichoke dip with pita chips, and individual little pineapple upside down cakes made for a nice feed. Nappage and day drinkin’ have also been accomplished.
I cleaned, I vacuumed. In 23 hours Spot managed to shed enough to fill 1/3 of the rollsuck supreme, and somehow managed to get cat hair on top of the ceiling fan. . Spot is not a ran of the rollsuck, he tried to flee through the sliding glass door. < bonk > I also took the lining out of my trenchcoat, and switched out my long sleeve day off shirts for my aloha shirts, so next week’s blizzard and subfreezing temps are on me.
Shitty situation.
Well, it gives time for Spot to settle in, and prepare to be an Emotional Support Cat.
Hope they can get you in for the eye.
CatGlove, sounds fun, but now I need a day off to recover from reading about your week.
I fear I have sunburned my knees. I spent 2 hours reading on the back porch while listening to the Sox beat the Angels. Lovely day today, supposed to be back in the 50’s and raining tomorrow.
Mooooooom, depending on genetics, RoxStar could well top 6’. I have two sisters who do and a niece who’s ~6’4". They’re handy for reaching stuff on the top shelf.
I made some progress on cleaning up / working up the scraps from the cookbook project and managed to go pick up the prescriptions. Sunday dinner was bacon - asparagus quiche and steamed green beans with red peppers, scallions and mushrooms.
Now for KP and messing around in the studio a bit more before hitting the hay.
I’ve been reading another trashy novel, chilling. I have a hankerin’ for DQ, but not enough to trade my robe for clothes, so that ain’t happening. I expect I’ll sleep like the dead tonight - at least I hope so.
Brief stop to say the doc said since I’m not missing any of my visual field, I should just call first thing in the morning and tell 'em he said I need an immediate appointment. Can’t stay on here because light hurts my eyes, but I’ll see you all in the next MMP!
The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. I know y’all were anxiously awaitin’ this report. I deserve chawklit after all that effort.
The paschal holy day is done! Hours of church, scurryfunge done, break fast eaten.
The paschal meal was ham, kielbasa, deviled eggs, ambrosia, potato salad, and the special paschal bread (which is very similar to challah). No work on pascha so the meal is usually food that one can graze or pick. I had a chicken sandwich ready for the wee hours of the morning after the overnight service, the cats had fancy feast. I do miss chicken during Lenten periods.
I uploaded the file somewhere and posted a raw link to the .mp4, just like with a photo. I usually use Discord to host my images and videos these days.
Early Evening all. Mowage was accomplished, didn’t get a lot chopped (about a bag and a half of clippings) but the lawn does look a little better. then went to the gym for whirlpool and sauna, so I could use their showers to clean up some.
As for the Woes of the Rat, my car is now telling me (and I confirmed it) that my right front blinker light is out. So probably make an appointment with the dealership and also get a tech person to check the problem with my key fobs. I have a hunch that putting in the new battery reset a lot of things and may be what is interfering with the fob (it also won’t lock/unlock my doors) so hopefully they can puzzle it out. First though I need to know when the plumbers and fence people are due, so I can schedule the car visit. Life can be so much fun at times..
rocky, forgot your Orthodox, sounds fascinating.
[[nellie}}, hope they take your word on the doc’s orders and the problem can be fixed.
Of course you realize you’ve doomed yourself to a phone call at 5am from someone who wants to buy your house…
VanGo, bet that smarts some. I have the ‘referee’ tan around the knees, caused by wearing sports shorts and long athletic socks.
Pilot, sounds like a bit of an adventure. Have fun.
Shoe, no idea what they are, but lovely!
FCM, lucky, I think the Five Guys burgers are good, but it’s the fries that I’m really hooked on, those rascals should be declared an addictive substance by the FDA. And the boat seems to be a chore that is never quite finished…
Flyboy, well, so the weather crapped out… Sound like the home improvement project is a go, hope it looks great.
OK, need to get a bite to eat and then finish out the day. All y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
Cat Glove, I’m exhausted just reading about all that hiking! Sounds like you got your money’s worth from the past week.
There was a break in the weather, so I took a short walk (2.6 miles instead of 3.1). Pace was off. It took almost 20 minutes for each mile. I think I walk better at mid-day.
The same thing happened to me Friday night, late while I was reading da mump. I’m in a similar situation to you-virtually blind in my left eye due to histoplasmosis causing scarring on that macula (central vision locale on retina). That was an equally sudden onset, driving back from Cape Cod on a summer Sunday. By the time we got back to Boston and I found an eye doctor to see me on Monday it was too late to save the fine vision in that eye. So I was advised to act instantly if anything ever hinted at happening with the right eye.
So Friday night, 40 years later, about 10pm, weird stuff started happening in my only good eye. My dental pain ordeal 2 weeks ago so traumatized me I didn’t even try to do anything. An urgent care or ER wouldn’t give a damn since there wasn’t anything to see and I had no hope anyone would believe me, so I just went to bed. Saying to myself that if was still happening in the morning I would pursue further with my triple boarded ophthalmologist/neurologist/micro surgeon’s practice’s on-call service. Fortunately in the morning I could read again. I think it was a big flurry of allergic inflammation due to our extremely high pollen levels and grass fire smoke drift.
Sad that the dental ordeal ruined any hope I had for the current state of us mere mortals being cared for by our current medical system. I just didn’t have any fight left. Asking for help and being rebuffed is worse than not asking for help, so I didn’t.
Turns worry meter down a couple of clicks. Please let us know what’s going on soonist. I really don’t like you being in so much pain.
Thanks for the reminder, but dang. Now that it has warmed up enough, it’s time for us to go through our freezer as well. We try to rotate everything, but things end up forgotten if we don’t pull everything out and rearrange it.
doggio, how is Beaker doing today? Hopefully a little better after having a peaceful night without kitty eating monsters coming out of the scary closed doors. Ours have always gone nutz for Halo freeze dried chicken or salmon treats and most cats are open to bribes.
Well look at you go! 'im indoors has no idea how lucky he has it!
Yeah! Looks like a great party happened and when did Roxie turn into such a poised young lady?
I sure hope you get over your crud soonist.
A St. Barnyard followed me home shortly before hubs and I moved to AZ. In the spring I would sit outside with her and comb as much of her shed out as possible just to watch the birds flutter around chasing nesting materials. Then we just started getting her a crew cut a couple of times a year. She was happier and we weren’t burning out a vacuum cleaner every year.
Yeah, it seems we can’t afford to sell and move closer to town either. Well, we could, but only if we wanted to give up space and yard and quiet.
Please tell us how the bank worker reacts to this. I’m sure she will try to stay professional, but she might snort a little in aggravation over the situation.
About that recipe??? Sharing is caring.
Nope. I got in my 5 year old car, turned the key and nothing. We have a charger so hubs is going to drive it into town tomorrow and have it replaced. I’m happily surprised that the battery lasted this long, Arizona heat plays hell with batteries, this is the first one that has lasted the complete expected life. This is a good thing, but we are used to getting batteries at the pro-rated rate instead of full price.
Pretty posies, thank you for thinking of us
Owwwie!!!
I’ve tried putting asparagus in quiche and it always seems watery. How do you avoid that?
I was!
Yes, yes you do.
Thank you, I will look at it tomorrow. My brain has already shut off for the day. Yesterday took more out of me than I had realized!
It has been a day of sloth for me. Hubs rode his motorcycle to town to buy COC some more junk fud because COC has been hungry lately and has managed to put half a pound back on. We have a dollar sto here, but it was a lovely day so hubs mostly wanted to get out for a ride.
I spent most of my day out on the porch. The weather was perfect and the bird are in spring mode which is always pretty entertaining. My carnations are starting to bloom and the columbines have buds. I love spring
Spot: < runs into kitchen, tries to jump on stove >
Me: “No. not safe.”
Spot: < squeak >
Me: “Ok, Beeker.”
He decided to hide in the sunroom, and look out the sliding glass door, instead of hiding in the sectional.
He spent his younger years being furdioactive then eventually parent-unit tired of the hassle and thereafter he was crew-cut buzzed except for his face. Reduced the wool a lot and also improved his skin condition. Sadly he looked like some mangy refugee who’d escaped from the charity vet before treatment. Sorta the drug-addicted homeless look. But he was happier and did not seem to care what he looked like to the two-footed crowd.
