(OLD) Out and About in the MMP

OMG, I think that would be a pretty but laid-back doggie. Just love thinking about that combo.

It did. Place is still there, so hopefully I can get the stuff done in a couple hours.

doggio, rooting for you to come home with that cutie.

wolfie, welcome to spring…hope winter doesn;t stop by for an encore.

BBBoo, great news on the IPad.

Shoe, get one of the guys you don’t much like to serve him; two birds with one stone…

doggio, thanks for the Gordie story, it gave me a good belly laugh imagining Gordie’s “what the hell was that for?” look.

Sonic Drive-in provided the evening’s repast, got a chocolate shake and mixed it with Diet Pepsi for a mutant root beer float-thingy, but it wasn’t too bad. Soccer went well, the girls are learning fast and I have several parents to help, so that is good. Went shopping on Amazon and now have 2 whistles, two stopwatches, and nine paperback books due in at various times this month.

Ok, it’s past 9pm so need to finish up internettin’, do some reading and head off to bed. All y’all take care.

Did you just realize this NOW?!!! I haven’t been back nearly as long as you’ve been here and I caught that one!

This is what we’re here for. (Well, not just that, but you know what I mean.) In the meantime, {{{Sari and Ripple}}} I’m with everyone else saying I’m glad that Ripple is doing better, and you definitely need the stability that a dog brings to your life.

Congratulations on getting this close to your goal! Mine is 150. I was down to 214 (from 276), then the medicine that was helping with with that became something I couldn’t take anymore for the weight loss. Now I’m back up to around 226 and I’m trying to find ways to at least stabilize until my doctor and I can figure something else out. I love reading stories of people getting where they want to be!

My 17 year old is thinking about it themself. It seemed to be a really good option for them (they’ve got a lot of genetic markers that make “just eat less and exercise more” something that doesn’t work as well, something they can thank me for!) Then when they found out that their stomach doesn’t grow back, it freaked them out a bit. Now I’m hoping that I can find ways to reassure them that the surgery will be a good thing for them.

This is what Hubby keeps thinking too. He should know better because he’s got a degree in molecular biology and used to teach a health and wellness class. But he’s still got 20 year out of date info in his mind.

{{{Nellie}}} This is definitely tough. I was going through the same kind of fears when my Dad first found out he had kidney problems. I offered up one of mine, but due to his age and health, he wouldn’t be a good candidate. So I definitely know how you’re feeling, coming at it sideways.

Thanks! I’ll be sure to stop by in the next day or two to do that. Of course, while I’m there I’m probably going to buy a bunch of other stuff that I shouldn’t but… that’s Dollar Tree!

Boo, I’m glad you were able to get your iPad fixed with little fuss and not nearly as much cash outlay.

Smart thinking! I usually buy multiples from Amazon (which I’ve been lucky with both them and Anker) for my family and I have cords squirrelled away everywhere so when BtY inevitably comes to me needing a new one because “I don’t know why it stopped working!”, I have one to give him. This kid has broken high quality cords/headphones/etc as well as low quality. They both last about the same time, so I go with the cheaper ones to save money in the long run.

Oh no! I hope the Benadryl and Allegra do their darn jobs and get your sneezing to stop. Dang allergies is right!

I’m pretty happy for Hubby right now. His tutee didn’t reply back whether they’d be online for their tutoring session, so Hubby decided that he wanted to go to our local game store to play Magic: The Gathering. He’s been wanting to go for awhile now, and I’ve been wanting him to do something that is for him. He’s been gone for several hours, which tells me he’s having a great time. I can’t wait until he gets home tonight and he tells me all about it.

I got a chance to look at CtE’s hair. They love it. I hardly see any purple in it. It’s a lot more blond with purple highlights than purple with blond highlights. I’m really thinking I need to find someone that is a lot better at this stuff than me so it comes out right. But, as Hubby pointed out, the important thing is that CtE is happy with it. So I’ll just have to decide in the future if I trust myself to do this.

The other thing I found out about CtE’s hair today is that they are loving their shorter hair. They’ve been bobbling their head all around the house to make their hair bounce. They told me that they’d forgotten how much they liked the shoulder-length hair - fewer knots and it feels really cool as it bounces. I’m hoping this helps their mental state too. It seems to have so far.

Heard from Dad too. Found out that the reason his PT was working on his upper body instead of his lower was that they’d been given the wrong information on what Dad needed. So they’re going to start working on his balance and lower body strength. I’m not sure if this will affect when he goes home - I’m really hoping insurance will let him stay a bit longer because I think the 4 days of PT left aren’t going to be enough to get him where I wouldn’t be constantly worrying about him falling. I’ll talk to him more tomorrow and find out if he’s heard anything.

And now I should consider the shower and getting ready for sleep. Tomorrow will be a busy day and I want to be more awake for it than I have been today. Good sleep, all! Chat more in the morning!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. SSLAW willing, and the creek don’t rise.

Yay!

I don’t know who is responsible, but somehow my email address (the serious one, not the one I use for junk) ended up on the lists of snake oil salesmen and women looking to send me nekkid texts or something. On one hand, they crack me up - actually, just the subject lines, since I don’t open any of them and they all go right to the spam folder. But apparently many of them deal in “weird” products from around the globe that will melt away 5# of fat every night while I sleep, or some such crap. Or they’ll make my penis longer, thicker, and harder, which in itself is weird, as I don’t have that particular dangly bit. For a while, I’d click the Unsubscribe button, but now I just empty the spam folder once or twice a day.

Today is scrub-the-hull day. I’ll be working on my own a lot because FCD has to do a phone appointment with SSA with his mom. But that’s fine - I can handle a hose and a scrub bucket on my own. And it’s supposed to get into the 70s which will be nice.

I hear lots of coughing from the bedroom - I’m worried about his lungs, but will he go to the doc? HAH! And so the day begins.

Happy Tuesday!

Good Morning Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. *YAWN * ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 75 and N.O.S. for the day. Today is laundry day. Be still my heart. There will also be the usual sloth and general overall uselessness. Sup shall be hamburger steak ‘n gravy with rice, peas ‘n carrots and rolls.

Doggio puppy looks like a sweetie! I am sure she will have you trained in no time!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then onward into the day!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently a dark and damp 42 degrees. The expected high is 50 and the day will contain rain and rain showers.

It’s been a very soggy few days, and although it’s not particularly cold, I would like to see some spring or at least a little sun to get out and play with plants and dirt.

We spent Easter afternoon with the kids, and they made a nice lunch. We went outside with the littles while they hunted for Easter eggs, and I watched as they gleefully opened the eggs to find treats or money. Of course, Grandma and Grandpa brought each an Easter basket filled with goodies and a gift sack with spring and summer outfits. We wore both the kids out. Adam crashed five minutes after we left the house, lol!

As has already been noted, you all were especially chatty yesterday. I have read but retained little. I try to keep up via phone during in-office days, but yesterday was too busy. Lots of new requirements for me to fulfill at work made me a little stressed yesterday. We’re also planning our statewide meeting, and it’s finally coming together. The LOI was sent to the venue yesterday, so hopefully, we’ll be paying for the conference room rental shortly. We’ll need to make our room reservations before the end of the month. I still don’t want to go, although it’ll be held in a lovely place. I’m just tired; tired of picking up others’ slack while trying to keep up with all the new stuff that rolls my way, tired of others’ lack of attention to detail, and tired of repeating myself over and over again. Sorry to gripe.

Today, I need to start writing up Emergency Occupation Plans, even though my agency is not the lead agency on ANY of the buildings we occupy, because I have to prepare for an inspection. That’s five different buildings; each document is around 26 pages long. I also need to recreate emergency contact lists and, emergency phone trees, emergency action plans. I get to do all this and try to keep up with everything I have on my plate. I must also write up several SOPs and create a new onboarding process with tips and guides for new employees. I also have to modernize our state SharePoint site and am still cleaning out over 20 years of electronic files and organizing and creating all the other files we need to keep. I work for the Feds; we have to keep records of everything. Shit gets old. I have a naming convention for each type of file, and it pisses me off when my MPA just bungs some orphan files in there without creating a proper subfolder and without the naming convention. What pisses me off is when she wipes out six months of work because she didn’t freakin’ pay attention to the files I already had in there, wiped them out, and then told me she added all the files. I had to let her know they had already been there; she had wiped out six months of work and had done it incorrectly. It wasn’t a fun conversation for me. I was angry but kept my cool and asked her to pay attention to detail. She was miffed that I called her out.

Doggio, the pup looks very sweet!

nellie, the new pup sounds wonderful!

sari, I’m glad Ripple is feeling better.

Metal Mouse, slow and steady, wins the race. I’m glad you’re close to your goal. I’ve admired your steadfast work on caring for yourself, mainly because I’ve fallen way off the rails and can’t seem to jump back on track.

FCM, the boat is really lookin’ purty!

Well that was inconvenient. My on-call shift started at 5am with me sound asleep. Nothing better than working while snoozing. Anyhow, that blissful state lasted until 6:15 when the phone rang with that distinctive ring that signals impending work.

Up, sheveled, fed, Lyfted all in a mad flail to make the appropriate train, and now lazily chillin’ w y’all on the train to work. Funny how it alternates between mad flail and sitting around waiting uselessly.

Today is again warm, with scattered rain & occasional thunder. Assuming all goes mostly to plan (ha!) I’ll be home tonight in time for slightly delayed Taco Tuesday nearby.

@Taters; I don’t know what an MPA is, but it would be an unemployed or deceased MPA after I got done with it. Willful ignorance is a firing offense.

Short heave today, but there was frost on my car when I came out. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I just hope she’s up for dealing with The Invisible Mole People.

But do yoiu have any pictures of nekkid, snake oil cover women you need to get rid of? Asking for a friend.

Morning all. Having my instant breakfast and since the laundromat opens in a few minutes, will get myself prepared and head over there in a little bit with at least two full baskets of stuff to wash. Another nice day is in store, in the 70’s and no rain in site, so besides the gym I may try and get out for a walk.

It’s a little easier when you’re retired and don;t have the responsibilities and pressures of work and dealing with your cow-orkers. Hope you can cut-n-paste some of that 26 pages of documentation for the sites. And Pilot, looks like MPA=Masters in Public Administration…sounds like Taters could come up with something stronger than that, but that would get here in trouble with the mods here, and we don’t want that.

Pilot, happy flying

FCM, outside of an occasional threat to expose my files of undoubtedly terrible things I do unless I send them bitcoins, my mail is pretty free of spam. Hope your system clears them out soon. Happy Scrubbing! :upside_down_face:

Real Fish, my weight loss came about starting several years ago when I topped out at 305lbs and had to get new jeans with 46" waists. Made a resolution to join a gym in 2022 and stuck with it, somewhat to my surprise, and this year resolved to start drinking Diet sodas instead of regular Pepsi and so fari I’ve stuck to that too. So like you say, slow and steady. As I mentioned above, it’s easier when you don’t work and don’t have a family to look out for…I feel for you.

Ok, onward into the day. Take care all and I’ll check back in when the laundry is done (probably bring it home to dry).

MPA stands for Management and Program Analyst. When I worked for DoD, it actually meant we got to analyze stuff and work on program improvement. In this agency, it seems to mean glorified admin.

there was much furniture moving yest., and i believe i have gotten the couch to work. next to get a new tv and have it wall mounted.

turns out i was off about .5 inch on the shelf, trunk combo. the trunk will now be a side table and part of the little corner cozy spot. it goes nicely with the telephone booth shelf unit.

more cleaning and clearing out to follow this week as the paschal prep starts to get into higher gear.

We have made an executive decision. We’ll go to the [s]hog trough[\s] GC for N.O.L. for today’s main feed. Somebody has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for their fried chickin which must be satisfied. Somehow I shall suffer through it all.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 9c/48f outside with no predicted change, and rain. Weather app says “It’s wet and slippery. Get your head out of the fucking gutter, pervert!” It was just starting to rain when we got back to our hotel last night, bucketed down overnight but had stopped by the time we had to leave.

We went to get some food, our last proper meal here so we had schnitzel and beer  then walked back to the hotel to collect our luggage before getting the S-Bahn to the airport. Check-in took a couple of minutes, security took ages despite having fast-track but we got there in the end. Now chilling in the business lounge until it’s time to get on the plane.

It’s been fun, we will get back home just after midnight, and I get to sleep in as I am not back at work until Thursday. Laundry and grocery shopping is on my list for tomorrow as well as fussing the cat and filling him with treats.

We It’s a cloudy, wet and day here. I love cloudy, wet days. I’m going to the gym and will walk errands today. Oh, and I have to call the dermatologist about a new autoimmune disorder thing. My body seems determined to reenact the Civil War.

Taters, I assumed MPA stood for Major Pain in the Ass. Wowzers, you have a lot to do! I don’t see how you get it all done.

MetalMouse, congrats on the weight loss. Slow and steady is the way to go, but it requires long-term commitment, which isn’t always easy, so kudos to you!

Pilot, how much time do you typically get between the call and arrival at airport destination?

Before the school district got filters, I got so many of those ads that I was tempted to check myself. Ugh. Does anyone ever respond to those? Maybe drunks and stoners? I hope FCD’s cough clears up.

Would he use a walker? Surely they wouldn’t let him go home with a high fall risk, if for no other reason than they might be found liable.

Yesterday’s dinner was delightful, as was the pilgrimage to South City for custard. I wish we got to see those particular friends way more often - they’re so easy to hang out with, and we hadn’t seen them since before COVID.

Got an okay-ish amount of sleep but work is…unmotivating. Probably has to do with all the meetings and being a bit blah. Waiting for mom’s scans to happen to things to get started really doesn’t help. All of us are on pins and needles.

nellie, your suggestion that the girl talk to her friends about her brace was excellent. Overlygirl learned that one of her friends does happen to have scoliosis as well and has been wearing a brace for several years, and apparently they agreed yesterday to be “brace buddies.” Her friend hasn’t been great about wearing hers, so her curve progressed and she’s getting close to surgical range. They’ve evidently made a pact to wear their braces consistently. This is one of the very few times I’ve been a huge fan of peer pressure.

I spent the last half hour going through the booklet about knee surgery and follow-up. Looks like my days will be full for some months to come. I’m not even sure if there is enough time in the day to do everything that they want one to do.

Another nice day in Big Minnie. I think a walk is in order.

Okay so I went back over to the nursery with my receipt, explained what happened and had them charge me for 6 more plants. But then they only charged me for 5 (maybe I should check the receipt before leaving ). I feel like at this point it’s on them. Next time I eventually go back there I’ll pay for it, but I’m not going back over there again just for this.

And what a good friend you are…

As it turned out, we didn’t scrub. Today the boatyard crew was beginning whatever they have to do before cutting a big-ass hole on the hull. I was able to get a second coat of Cetol on the transom since they’re working at the bow, but there’s no way we could scrub and not risk getting the workers wet, so scrubbing will be on another day.

I’m finishing lunch before going out and mowing, and maybe raking. FCD has gone to his mom’s for their phone call appointment. Then I’m guessing he’ll head to the boatyard to see what’s been done. Pretty much a do-nothing day for us, boat-wise.

But it’s a pretty day and I’ll be opening the house when it warms a bit more.
