(Old) Pet pics in the MMP

I want somma what you’ve been smoking.

GG demands the fresh stuff, he will only reluctantly settle for the dried stuff after sniffing my hands and going to the catnip door and whining.

I agree with you about the power of purring. Jolene is here because she purred all over hubs at the group home.

Hubs found a covered plant terrarium on the meta marketplace for ten bucks. One of the glass panels is cracked, but it’s not loose so I’ll just put that side towards the wall.

I have since learned that fireflies need decaying vegetation to hatch and grow. There are no fireflies in my old stomping grounds, I’m just adoring them here and want to encourage them if possible. Plus the DH will only be about 10 feet from the house so the cats can enjoy the bird watching.

They feel like warm velvet. If they could purr, they would rule the world along with cats.

Wow, is that a blast from the past! I had no idea they were still around. I’m glad you had such a good time, concerts were way fun back when we were younger.

My first concert was Steppenwolf at the Swing Auditorium. They were very new at the time, they were promoting their first album at the time.

I looked it up and it appears as though you will certain have opportunity to misbehave when needed. Be sure to book through the hotel webpage itself, third party websites are so very deceptive.

I’m guessing that this time FCM is going to be meaner about cleaning up after accidents.

I love your ramp! I don’t love the lack of paint on the edges.

I can’t remember if you had it painted when it was built. If it was, then that will just look sloppy. If it wasn’t, that’s a place for rot to take hold.

What’s that hedge on the side of your house? I’ll bet the pollinators love it.

Yeah, that’s a big no for me.

I read further, good on you for not yelling at the delivery driver. Our drivers have been working later and rushing more as well.

I’m sure that your ratties will enjoy their new digs, they do sound luxurious!

Which is also good for body and soul.

She was truly beautiful.

Fog is another new to me thing. We used to get a few low clouds at times, but fog wasn’t a thing. Its foggy most mornings here and I love watching the forest mist rise in the evenings.

Water is just magic and special in all of its forms. Except bottled of course, that’s just plastic soup.

:people_hugging:

This is the hardest time in any pet owners life. You are doing very well and showing grace to your ex was amazing.

I won’t say that I know how you are feeling because I am not you. I do know that it tore my heart out every time I was this close to losing one so I have some idea how hard this is for you.

Your love shows clearly.

But all of the other boat guys have one!

Honestly, I don’t know anything more about them but from what my co-worker told me over the years. He never mentioned spending a lot of time exercising them, but he didn’t keep his puppies, only his adults.

That looks rather pricey.

Yes. I remember. I didn’t realize how long ago it was, damn, I’m getting old.

Oh, I’m terrified, LOL!

I’ve been watching a lot of dinosaur documentaries lately, and can just imagine the future David Attenborough discussing the tracks she left in the sand.

I’m so glad you both had such a good time.

And we enjoyed every word - plus the cute dog pic.

So, as you have already heard more than once, I’ve been panic buying needlepoint kits. I bought a dozen purse pieces (small enough to carry in your purse) which all need 8 inch stretcher frames.

Back when I started doing needlepoint, all of the bars were 3/4 inches. Then they also started making 1/2 inch bars which didn’t work with the 3/4 inch bars. I tried to stick with the 3/4 inch bars but got some half inch bars in kits and such.

I have a whole tub of stretcher bars, but somehow I do not have four 8 inch bars. I think that’s in the rules somewhere.

I have two 3/4 inch bars so wanted to just order two more. Well, as it happens 3/4 inch bars are out of fashion, nowadays kids are using inch bars. Not wanting to start collecting yet another size of bars, I did a lot of calling around and found a set of two bars in the correct size.

And the post office has lost them.

I’ll wait until Monday and then give up and order a full set of 1/2” bars. I don’t like them for larger pieces, they tend to flex when they should be straight, but they will work for smaller pieces.

*woof*

Dinner was carnitas des res, with beans, chips, grilled jalapeño, and margaritas. Same thing I had a couple of weeks ago, only this time I had leftovers. Stuffed like a daemon.

Went for my checkup. Yes, my cholesterol has ‘high’ because my HDL (‘good cholesterol’) was ‘through the roof’. My ‘bad cholesterol’ is ‘right where we like to see it’. Potassium is right at the upper limit of normal. My PCP isn’t concerned because it’s not ‘high’, and he’d rather have me eating my avocados and spinach than not.

And good evening all. Exercise has been exercised and soccer coached (but kitchen is still a bit of a mess). Have the tackleball game on in another window (have Amazon Prime) and am using halftime to catch up with y’all. Another mild night, it’s 70F heading to 63F so AC off and windows open again tonight. Need to finish the Firday shopping list before bedtime but not touch on it this week.

Nut, sounds like your delivery window is going to be rebooted (and I see that it finally made it, yay!..and I wonder what possessed those guys to change careers mid-stream like that…

boo fae, thanks for the information, another in a long list of places I would like to see but probably won’t in my lifetime.

shoe, hope we can get a pic of a harnessed Monkey. And a nice pic of the late Ms. Nikki.

Oopsie, glad the mess wasn’t too bad this time, and {{hugs}} too you for the massive decision you are having to make. Such wonderful pictures.

FCM, interesting photo, I wonder if they’ll take FCD up on his offer. And I’ve spent this year tracking my calories against those burned in the gym, right now I am staying even or below my requirements and still eating stuff I like. I’ve dropped all the poundage I planned to (about 90 lbs over three years) and so far I have stayed between 201 and 207 lbs all of 2025.

red, sounds like your settling in just fine.

nellie, I think most people remember the day, but the immediacy is gone…I mean, everyone (at least our age) remembers the Day Kennedy was shot and when the Space Shuttle exploded, but I doubt any of us could name those dates now. Carl Sandburg’s poem “Grass” applies to great disasters too…

VanGo, that’s the most relaxing picture I’ve seen in awhile. Glad you and pup are having some fun.

swampy, hope the Red Roof works out, I try to get something in the middle when I travel, places like Best Western or Holiday Inn Express.

JtC, hope the correct bars make a dramatic re-appearance at the Post Office for you.

And not only has this lasted through half-time, the third quarter just ended with the Green Bay Pachyderms leading the Washington Commanders-in-Not-Those-Chiefs 17-3.

Take care all and see you tomorrow.

Up from naptime, watching the Packers, and having a Royal Hawaiian, with Smoked Paprika Chicken and potatoes.

Wear some white gogo boots to work.

Sea spoot!

I made a major mistake today. I watched the History Channel for hours. All about 9/11 of course, Major downers of course.

Part of the problem is that 9/12. tomorrow, is the eleventh anniversary of the death of my father, killled by an inattentive driver, sandwiched on his motorcycle between the asshole’s truck and the car in front of him. Never got a ticket. My last memoru is of him in his coffin. I absolutely hate the memory of a guy who looked down to put a CD in. Was the music important enough to kill a man?

SWMBO just asked, ‘When do you think you’ll get X-rays of your knees?’ I said, ‘I don’t know.’ SWMBO said, ‘Next week? Next week would be good. Next week?’

I’m very sorry for your loss. That’s awful. The person who read-ended me when I was a teen was driving at high speed and fiddling with his music. I was fortunate.

The moon is rapidly waning, and the frogs are chirping and croaking like it’s about to be made illegal.

Monkey’s new glow-in-the-dark harness is a huge hit .. with me. Wasn’t too big of a deal getting it on him (thanks, squeezy-crack!) and it is BRIGHT in the darkness. He didn’t seem too troubled about wearing it, we both chilled outside for a while (at 1:30 a.m.) … but when I went inside for a drink & pee, came back out, he was nowhere to be found. I called his name, squinted around … and saw a bright blue light THREE houses down! Naughty gato!

I walked up to him, called his name, and he had the balls to hunker down like, “You can’t see me!”

The fuck I can’t, lil buddy. Picked his ass up & carried him back home, with him lightly fussing the whole way.

This thing is AWESOME.

Imgur

D’aaaawwwwwww.

Sure, I don’t mind sharing!

But the answer to your real question is, I don’t spoil my critters … too much…

For example, gooshy-fud appears on a random basis. None of this “first thing in the morning” bullshit, because 8 a.m. starts to be demanded at 7:30 a.m. and then friggin 6 a.m. and so forth.

Catnip … you get what you get, and you’ll like it, dammit.

(Okay. He gets the fancy kind with silvervine added when I can find it.)

Jeebus, same.

D’OH!

Well, that’d be one way to get the tip jar filled.

Or for me to slip ass over teakettle.

I am so sorry, love, for your pain & loss.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

{{{{Cupcakes}}}}

Tron Cat hates the MCP!

Uh, wut?

Hugs to Cookie and Oopsie.

Shoe, that harness is totally cool!

Thanks, everyone, for your advice and opinions about the ramp. The paint is a special no slip mixture that has gritty stuff mixed in it. It was originally stained brown last year and I’ve realized that was MusicMan’s issue before that the area between boards was not painted. Although, it wasn’t as noticeable in that color. Here’s the big, stupid dilemma, I am having a hard time with the idea of telling our handyman that it needs to be fixed. Partly because I’m a chicken who hates conflict and partly because I can’t figure out why he would think that leaving it like that is ok. I know that I’m the customer here, but I like the guy and I don’t want to hurt his feelings. Yes, dumb, I know.

In other news, I have the day ‘off’, but will be working on my IEP fest. The good news is that my boss is super awesome and she’s recruiting help for me to do the basic work on getting the IEPs started. I went into the meeting expecting to hear what I’d done wrong, and instead she was reaching out to help me. She even said that she does not want me to spend all of my weekend writing IEPs. Pretty awesome, I’d say.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 16c/61f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Does that one fucking cloud look like a weasel screwing a carrot?” Err…no….can’t see any clouds from here!

You must not feel guilty about those thoughts, they’re perfectly natural. It doesn’t mean you will miss Bailey any the less because of it. She would not want you to feel guilty about anything, especially not for the live full of love and care that you’ve given her.

Godbod excellent choice for your first real concert. You know you’ve got the bug now, right? One of my friends is in a band and they’re playing at a pub near us so we’ll probably go along to hear him - that will be my 158th band this year.

But you should be allowed the occasional treat meal, as long as you’re not doing it regularly.

I am sorry that the two days bring you such feelings. :people_hugging: a virtual hug is the best I can do, except to say that I will be thinking of you.

My mogs are not exactly on a schedule but they know that once I’m out of bed in the morning, food is not far off because they get fed before I start doing other stuff. If it’s a campus day, they know I feed them more gooshy fuds when I get home again. They also have an inbuilt sense of treat time at night when I’m about to head up to bed.

Sounds like you have a good boss there - it’s a lot of work for you to do when you maybe don’t have experience of how they want things done, and you shouldn’t be spending all weekend working on work stuff, you need your “off” time as well!

Yesterday evening was as predicted for me, home and chores before collecting ‘im indoors from the station. I got my early night and slept reasonably well, and was awake just before the alarm was about to go off. Cats got fed, Muffin had some fuss and was purring which was nice to hear. And yesterday afternoon, she managed a proper solid poo! I was really happy to see that, I’ve been giving her a bit of butter every day so hopefully that has helped “move things along”.

Today’s journey to work got me here on time but everything was either early or late. The bus I had intended to catch turned up 5 minutes early so I was between stops at that point and had to wait for the next one, which was also early (and the bus driver asked me what time it was, according to my phone). The bus stop has no notice of revised schedules so I’ll have to check online and see if things have changed. Then the trains were all running late so I caught a train I hadn’t expected to, but still made it to Big City Station with just enough time to get from platform 1 to platform 12 for the campus train.

Only two of us in the office today so it should be quiet enough that I can get on with some work. Yesterday was not a very productive day and I have a lot of things I need to get done.

Fireflies and hummingbirds are the two things I really wish we could have over here- if people were going to mess with ecosystems by taking stuff everywhere all willy-nilly, why didn’t anyone bring us those? But nooo… we get stuff like mink, which take over the waterways.

We do have a native glowworm, but they don’t fly around glowing and they’re really rare now, and not found at all in this area. Closest we have to hummingbirds is a moth which does impressions.

I don’t yet have rats, though I did as a teen, for a bit. IIRC, Shoe has African soft fur rats, which aren’t the same as the standard rats I’m planning on.

I just need to rearrange the furniture a bit more first- I had to bring my big bookcase downstairs yesterday to make space for the cage, so putting it back together and replacing the heap ‘o books is on the list of today’s jobs. I’m planning on a garden visit first though, I get free entry to this place Thursdays and Fridays, but I’m normally at irk, so I can’t go and it closes for the season end of the month.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 88 and sunny. I feel some quality cee-mint pond time will be enjoyed later this mornin’. The water should be nice and coolish. That along with other RDOS inactivities makes for a nice day. There’s grilled chikin leftover from Tuesday, so that warmed via the nukelator, peas ‘n carrots, smashed N.O.T., and rolls will be sup. Easy and tasty!

{{{CupCakes}}}

JtC I won’t have time to misbehave. Convention is a jam packed day and a half of Diocesan bidness. I booked through the motel sight, so no worries about surprises there.

shoe Monkey looks spiffy in his glow in the dark harness.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Washington just played on Sunday - they’re having to do it again on Thursday? Sounds like a rather brutal schedule. Not that I care, but it is a curiosity to me. < shrug >

Not to dispute its impact and importance, but I have to wonder how long before all the reminiscing about 9/11 is confined to anniversaries ending in “0”, then kinda glossed over, like the aforementioned Kennedy assassination and Challenger disaster. I don’t watch anything associated with it, but FCD played some of the reports on his tablet, so I heard the stories and the sad background music and I wanted to yell “SHUT UP ALREADY!!” I’m not heartless. But I hate the annual rehash.

{{{cupcakes}}} I do ache for you and your loss. Sometimes there is no justice.

It really is! Huzzah for harness technology!

It’s more of a treat for him than for me, and it’s too easy for him to go crazy. I’m trying to figure out a compromise.

Maybe there’s a connection? (bolded for connection??)

My new sleep routine seems to have become wake-at-4-pee-sleep-till-7-ish and as long as I can fall back to sleep, I’m good. Today started in the upper 50s and we might see 80°. That’s pretty much the forecast into next week.

It’s laundry day and I’ll strip the bed, too. I should probably do the guest bed since the grandspawn have slept there a couple of times. Should we get a surprise guest, (yeah, right) I’d be rushing around to change the sheets, so why not be prepared? That should guarantee no surprise company!

FCD has opted out of boat work since his back is acting up. He said yesterday that his legs feel better if he walks a bit - something he could have mentioned some eons ago. I’ll try to get him to stroll in the neighborhood regularly. Our 3 roads include 2 cul de sacs at our end of the neighborhood plus a mile anna quarter rectangular circuit and 2 spurs that lead from the main road. If we walk all the asphalt, it’s about 3 miles. So I’ll start us off with the cul de sacs, and see how it goes. Very rough representation (I made it on Power Point) - we’re at the star:

Imgur

But first, I’ll finish my morning computer time then haul and sort our week’s worth of dirties and get the first load started. Somewhere in there, I’ll shower and dress, and maybe I’ll take him to the thrift store to look for jeans. I’m pretty sure he can get down one more size, so I don’t want to stock up on too many at this stage, but he’s only got 3 pairs that fit without falling down.

OK, back to surfing. Happy Firday!!

paintcharge, what a great picture! what a day she had! how fun for both of you.

baker, i’m so sorry.

purplehorseshoe, wow! monkey’s harness is sooooooo fantastic. now i want to get one for lager, even though he doesn’t go out. he does like clothes. he could be a soft moving night light…

hurray for muffin progress. there are times when i go to scoop the box, turn to lager and say “hey, bud, that’s a good looking poo”. then i shake my head and laugh. now i’m “that person”. oy.

i do like greyhounds, they are quiet dogs for the most part. i would be a bit concerned about the chase instinct with a resident cat.

Good morning.

It’s 59°F, dark, and foggy. It should be partly cloudy this afternoon, and our daytime high will only reach about 70°F.

Oopsie, I’m thinking of both you and Bailey today. Sending hugs to you and gentle skritches for Bailey.

I was about to drive through the gate of the military installation I worked on when news of the towers hit the radio. The gates (ALL of them) closed mere minutes after I passed through. My mother was about four months pregnant with me on JFK’s assassination date, and my husband and I were getting ready to go back home from our honeymoon on the Challenger date. The owners of the hotel we were staying in gathered us and brought us to their apartment to watch the news.

But, yeah, I didn’t watch any of the programming related to the 9/11 anniversary.

Baker, I’m so sorry.

VanGo, loved the ocean pic, and I love how much effort you put into including lil’ Miss Peach in your life and activities.

Yesterday, my husband and I opted to go out to lunch together. We were on our way to the waterfront in the next town over when my husband suggested going to a German restaurant not far from where we were (on the road) and then going to the German deli for bread, Brötchen, cold cuts, and cheese. I forgot the butterkase, though. After purchasing our food at the deli, we drove through Steilacoom, following the water, and then headed back east to I-5, Hwy 512, and home. At that point, my husband was getting antsy to get back home to the dogs (we’d only been gone a couple of hours), so he was driving a little fast. I’m thinking I might take a very long drive by myself today. I love my pups, but they would have been fine being alone together for another hour or so. He tends to rush through outings, and when I’ve pointed this out to him in the past, he’s made an effort to improve, but now he’s back to the same behavior. So, I’m just going back to doing things on my own instead of trying to make sure I include him in my outings. It’s not like I go far or anyplace very often anyway.

Meh, just ignore the minor rant. I did enjoy the lunch, my visit to the deli (it had been a long while since I’d been there), and the drive down roads I hadn’t traveled in a long time.

We’re coming up on chanterelle season. Another good soaking rain, and it’ll be time. I need someone to accompany me, but it can’t be my husband. I’m not sure my son would come with, and I don’t want to ask the last person I went with, because she became impatient the last time and wanted to go home an hour after we got there. She couldn’t spot the mushrooms, which made her frustrated. It’s a 2.5-hour drive to my spot, so I was pretty disappointed that day. I must mull this over for a bit.

Well, I should finish my coffee and sort out what I plan to do today. Please take care of yourselves.

My sister had 2 cats when she had her greyhounds, and there was no issue. Plus Ziva hides under the bed all day and whatever dog we get will be crated all night, so she can mosey about as always. And this assumes she survives till we get a dog - she is an old lady.

All the laundry is downstairs and sorted and the first load is washing. I did yet another search for some hand-held shower heads that I was sure we have, but no luck. Maybe I imagined them. But my search uncovered some diapers and small clothing in a drawer - they were to be spares for the kids, just in case. But they’ve outgrown all of it.

I have to add to my evening reminder - Alexa tells me to take my meds at 7, and I need her to tell me to check the garage door. We left it open again last night. I’m not worried about burglars, but I don’t want critters taking up residence. And with cold weather coming, we’d lose a layer of “insulation” along the wall it shares with the house. I don’t always remember to check, so now I’ll get a reminder. Alexa is my auxiliary brain, along with Outlook.

Guess I’ll re-sheet the beds while waiting for the current load to finish washing.

He looks like the pub cat in a dive bar with that light up. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hugs to you, baker.

I remember seeing a number of planes circling to land at Opryland International on the way to work on 9/11 and wondering just what was going on. Once at work, we gathered around our monitors and watched the towers fall. We had a branch meeting for the leads on up for our facility that put into place new work shifts (we were a distribution center for Lucent, so we were supplying operations at Ground Zero) and things changed overnight. Once home, I spent time in line for gas (none of us knew when we would be able to get more), then went to my SIL’s to spend time with family.

I was working graveyards when Challenger happened and woke up to coverage on TV. I don’t remember the JFK assignation, given that I was only 11 months old. However, we always had a picture of JFK on our dining room wall, along with the last supper, Mother Mary and the Sacred Heart.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After, I’ll get some of the stuff that I didn’t get done yesterday done.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I like this!

I have entire arguments with Monkey, some of which I win, and some … yep, turning into “that person.”

Ah, I forgot about that part. FCM y’all do need to keep this in mind.

Aw, naw.

That sounds … lonely but satisfying at the same time.

May I ask why?

(I wish I could send my mother your way. She’s an avid mushroom, uh, gatherer (?) and loves chantrelles.)
