(Old) Pet pics in the MMP

Afternoon all. A boys’ U9 team coach is out of town this week and I volunteered to take his place so in about 90 minutes I’ll be meeting up with 8-10 8 year olds for soccer practice at one of the elevated (about 125 feet above the parking lot) fields in the park. At least it will give me some evening exercise and Culver’s (which I had previously chosen to provide this evening’s repast) is right on the way home from the fields.

21 messages since this morning. Let’s see what I can handle before I need to dress for soccer practice.

red, hope the car can be a quick fix.

JtC, nice pick, no doubt who is the boss cat there!

Knots, most places give me a little card with the date/time of my appointment and I tape them to the bottom of my computer screen (next one is a dentist appointment in March 2026…). And another vote for adding ‘clatterdebang’ to the Oxford English Dictionary…

Cookie, those lovely eyes… Enjoy the apple picking. I picked up some Envy apples to try instead of my usual Red Delicious and I am very impressed.

Now I have 'Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene; bouncing off my three brain cells…and find I don’t mind it do much…

Dicey, neat photo. Glad the Gubmint can still manage a reasonably east task for you.

flyboy, hope the trash is gone. They missed my grass clippings last Monday but they are gone now.

Oopsie, hopefully Bailey can have one more good day with the other dogs and yor ex.

:scream:

lily, had some Mormon missionaries at my door last week (can’t recall if I mentioned it or not), guess this is conversion season…

OK, time to change clothes again and get ready to face the hordes (well, 8 or 9 boys) of soccer players for 90 minutes or so. If I survive will catch y’all later tonight.

Yes, someone came by not too long after I called.. I didn’t go out to bring the bin in right away. It was when I went out to bring it in that I saw the tripped trap.

My wife says we paid the exterminator through the 11th. The tech said we paid for the initial setup and three visits. So he collected their three traps, and assisted me in setting up the ones I’d just bought. (He showed me where he would set them, set up one, and then had me set up the other one.)

… if your store has them, try Lily’s toaster grills, not delicious but easy to do and not bad at all.…

Every time you mention these I tell myself I need to try those.i checked and both Target and Walmart carry them near me. My main grocery store doesn’t but it is fairly traditional and I’m in Tarjay or Walmart often enough with my literacy student that the major challenge is for me to remember to look when I’m there. The grilled cheese, the grilled cheese/hamburger and the cheesy garlic grill all sound good. At least I have a toaster if my bonked brain memory doesn’t fail me.

So thanks for reminding me to get on this.

Does that mean your Red Delicious are envious?

Ditto, to both of ya!

If my calculations are correct, I have now successfully achieved BOTH of the most pressing tasks I had slated for today, and if I get my kitchen somewhat cleaned up (!!!) I already have the fixin’s for a lovely dinner in the fridge. Chicken, cilantro, green onion, butter lettuce, and then rice paper rounds to roll it all up.

Oooh, I haven’t made a peanut butter-chili-hoisin sauce in a while.

I haz … some motivation now. SOME don’t go thinkin’ I’m all ambitious about this “washing dishes by hand” nonsensery, which would hafta happen first.

Anyhoodle, if I don’t get KP done, there’s always Ye Olde Folks Diner up the street, although their idea of “dinnertime” and mine is quite different. They often close before I’ve had lunch.

But they do make a decent patty melt on rye.

Good call, as a backup option. Plus, yanno, frozen custard.

I was quietly doing a jigsaw puzzle on my tablet when a big “Uncle Donnie, er, Sam wants you in ICE” with all sorts of cash enticements. It made me ill. Then again, maybe a whole bunch of slackers should join and screw around with training and/or assignments just to mess with the department. Would that work?

Supper was miscellany. Dishwasher is sloshing. The garage is ready for pellet delivery tomorrow. Chillage shall reign for the rest of tonight.

IMHO, a good patty melt is to die for…

T

Afternoon, everybody! Tis been quite the time for me. My sister’s started with her schooling, and it’s been chaos. It started out terribly, but things seem to have stablised for the most part for her. Still a tad stressful though.

For me though…I started dating a lovely lady recently. Gonna go out with her in early October and do some shopping and hanging out and whatnot. She’s just a little further up north in Wisconsin than I am, so meeting up with her is a lot more feasible. I am very excited.

Mmm, love me some Culver’s. Their buffalo chicken tenders are a favourite of mine, they are quite divine and not too intense. I recommend anyone here who is okay with spicy stuff give them a try.

The Witnesses have approached me twice since my move. Both were on Saturdays, the first when I went to get the mail and the second knocking on my door. A simple gracias, no was sufficient. I haven’t lived anywhere where soliciting was permitted or common for a lot of years. I guess I have a project of a snazzy, bilingual sign for my door. :stuck_out_tongue:

I finished up a one sheet wonder set (all of the cards are made with one sheet of print paper) this afternoon. Now, I’m fixing to work on a filler project for the evening whilst I watch / listen TV.

:up_arrow: QFT.

Howdy Y’all! We have been sloths today. I mean that as in more RDOS than we usually are. Did get the neighbor’s and our trash cans hauled all the way back up from the road to where they stay, so maybe that counts as effort. Well, sup got fixed and et and the kitchen cleanded up as well.

Thanks for the pics of mumpets. They make this grumpy old man smile.

Well, yay!

I’ve said this before, but I’d love to have a few minutes heads-up before any seriously evangelicals show up .. so I can prep my 4-ft python accordingly.

“Why, hello, would you like to talk about Beelzebub?” (while gently stroking said snek.)

I decided to shake things up, and try their “grilled cheese burger.”

Also, a chocolate malt, cuz why not?

(That chicken/green stuff thing may not happen!)

I have a checkup on Thursday afternoon, and I just got some test results back. Everything is normal, except cholesterol is high. Cholesterol is 204. :frowning: HDL (‘good cholesterol’) is very high: 117 (Normal range 40-59).

Somehow or another, Nelson doesn’t inspire the same amount of terror respect, try as he might.

My method is probably very clunky compared to what smart folks do, but…I use my droid to take a pic then share it to my email. Then I go to my desktop (windows, not the latest version), open the email, expand the pic and then either right click on the picture to get the dropdown menu and select “save picture as”. I name it and send it to my documents.

Or I click the download icon on the upper right corner of my screen, which instantly sends it unnamed to my download folder.

THEN I go to flikr and do the download picture thing there and finally get to show off the fuzzbutts here.

I’m positive that most people have a faster easier way, but it works for me.

My knuckles have gotten bigger over the years and my ring was getting painful, so I had it resized and cleaned. A few months later, I had to get a MRI on my back and forgot to leave my ring in my locker. The tech caught me and when it slipped smoothly off my finger, she asked if I was a newlywed.

It must be regional, we have only once used our Aldi quarter and last time we couldn’t even give our cart to someone who was going into the store because she was only getting a few things.

I love your fast wit.

I also think that you’ve got a pretty handsome tux as well

Go back and look again, she has a little heart shape by the base of her tail. Just too sweet.

Monkey always has such a smug look, he knows who rules the house there!

While Ralphie is a very handsome guy, I do have a soft spot for the tuxes.

I sure do miss good Mexican food. The best we get here is decent, and nobody here understands our pain.

OTOH, there is some amazing Indian food here and they use all of the spices with abandon.

Back when Hubs was the Leader of the Pack, there were several times that single men ended up in the hospital (and once a woman ended up dead), so our responsibility was to clean up their homes before family arrived. Dishes weren’t washed and food wasn’t tossed, we were looking for and boxing up the sex toys and drugs/paraphernalia.

We didn’t throw their things away, we just hid them from Mom.

Hubs wanted a side-by-side for this place and I do not like it. The shelves are narrow and deep so things get lost there too.

Plus, as was mentioned above, cookie sheets don’t fit.

He’s defiantly a handsome MumPet. I do have to laugh, GG has that same bed and he doesn’t fit nearly as well as Nelson. He’s always got a body part hanging out.

She is lovely. I can’t help but notice your cat inspired interior decorating scheme

This is the first time in over 40 years that we haven’t had a box on the floor. Neither of our current feline overlords like boxes. Cats is weird.

Lovely. If you were on this side of the planet, I would assume that was Venus on the left. Or am I just stoopid and it is Venus?

That was great, thank you!

It is so thoughtful of you to power through your pain to give him a chance to say good-bye. I don’t know if I would have found that much grace during such a hard time.

There comes a time that you have to address this sort of thing in your will and with your insurance company. Fires happen, your insurance company will only give you a little bit of money to replace your hobby supplies unless you have a rider.

Plus, if you don’t specify who gets what if you get run over by the beer truck, people will fight over the good stuff.

You have an oven. It has a broiler rack.

I would always order the weird local cheese first.

So, this is getting really long and there is stitching to do so I’m going to share a few things and then do other stuff.

Mrs Harry won’t let Harry do all the forest fighting he used to (and it shows, it is wonderful) so he’s been busying himself otherwise. Today he brought over a fake dragonfly mounted on a couple of feet of spring steel wire with a clip at the end. He says that if I clip the fake dragonfly on my hat it will bob around and scare off all the skeeters and midges.

He had one clipped to his hat and pointed out that he didn’t have any skeeter bites so I guess I’m going to have to trust him that it works. As long as it is paired with DEET that is.

After cookies and coffee (Mrs H only allows him to have decaf at home. I serve him half and half here. Mrs H doesn’t keep cookies in the house. I only give him three instead of half a dozen. Mrs H knows this and adjusts for it because she knows that everyone needs a forbidden treat and cookies are better for him than booze.), I thought I’d go to a new-to-me dispensary on the other side of Logan.

Nice folks, good prices. I like the really terpy stuff which costs a little more, but saw that they also sell the unpopular stuff (not terpy and low THC) for half price or BOGO. Things are the same all over, many folks, including every housekeeper I’ve ever had likes being tipped in weed.

Not MMP safe, but … man, I’d love to hear (read?) some of your stories.

That is .. indeed, quite odd. Are you certain they are both cats, my dear?

I figure, “Fuck it, I’m dead, I’m not gonna give a crap. But I’ll be watching from above down below, rooting for ya!”

Place closest to me not only has a drive-thru window, they’re working on a 2nd window (like McDonald’s .. order here, pickup there) and my brain still essplodes every time they give me a receipt. Like, whaaaa…. ??

I shouldn’t say this, but … you think S.M. doesn’t know what I’m up to? She friggin’ told me they were having a sale. I was like, “Yeah, I know. I swung by before coming here & clocking in.”

You would be disappointed. Those grown ass Marines didn’t want their moms to see their Hustler centerfolds (in the bathroom of course) or their DVD copy of Debby Does Dallas. A couple of vibrators, lots of condoms. The dead gay girl wasn’t any more interesting.

Oh no! I’m sure she didn’t have any clue, she was just warning you about the heavy traffic in the area. So you could avoid it on your way home.

Yanno, I’ve only used a drive-thru once and that was just because I had to do it because.

Needlework stores and dispensaries are the only places I actually like going into just so I can interact with the employees.

Up from naptime. The usual cheeseburgurs and Old Fashioned for dinner.

Still, what kind of wealthy succubus is Jolene that a dude would leave Dolly frickin’ Parton for her?

Why not export it to Flickr directly from the phone, then save it to a file on your desktop from there?

GG is bigger and fluffier, so of course he fills up more of the bed.

10:45pm, the tackleball game is over and time for the late-night final. Soccer practice went well, only had 6 boys there and they all were (mostly) cooperative, so we got a fair amount of soccer accomplished. Then stopped at the gym for an extra 300 calorie dropoff and upsized to a ‘triple-deluxe’ burger at Culvers which was pretty good. Scale showed 201.4lbs today, so almost where I was at the start of the year, so maintaining weight has been successful for 2025 (so far). 66F presently and heading downward, so the AC is off and the windows are open.

flyboy, hope the traps keep the moles from re-establishing themselves.

BBBoo, let me know what you think. I usually get their ham and cheese, but the grilled cheese is good too.

They might feel deserted as unless the price is really a bargain, I think I’ll stick with the Envy ones.

shoe, yay! for self-ambition, but don’t get carried away…

You know, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten ice cream products from Culvers, but they were advertising Butter Pecan tonight and I was sorely tempted…

Never been a patty melt fan, mostly because I do not care for grilled onions and apparently a patty melt isn’t a patty melt without them…

God Bod, nice to hear about your budding romance; hope things work out well.

And that’s all the energy I’ve got. Off to Slumberland. Catch y’all on 2sday.

It was all right. Probably won’t get it again, but it was fun to try.
