(Old) PJD strikes again in the MMP

And a grand and glorious evening to you all. Afternoon went as planned, now at about 50% of the Mega Crossword solved and 1,250 calories sweated off at the gym so that was accomplished. Went back to Kroger to check on an item they didn’t have this morning, they still don’t (and it may be discontinued) but ended up picking up about $50 worth of other stuff (because Kleenex and HVAC filters and ter-let paper and shaving cream were not on my morning list). Back home and did some on-line training for Futsal Refereeing (just a on-line refresher course) while replenishing my calorie-depleted body. Futsal starts tomorrow at 8am so need to set my alarm and will be in bed early this evening. A cloudy day but no rain and it’s still above freezing so I’ll take it, tomorrow is due to be about the same.

And need to get to scrolling…

pj, thanks for the info and best wishes to your partner. As for the inheritance, I have my eye on some land out west of here…

Knots, I neither drink wine or do jigsaws, but will gladly listen to your gripes if it helps out…and yay! for the successful Dr. visit.

FCM, just hope daughter and SIL can maintain their financial discipline, it isn’t easy to do at times and backsliding may occur…

Cookie, I try to be the same way, if I can help I help and don’t expect it back most of the time. Enjoy the caramels.

red, keep on improving.

Ah, quality entertainment…

Hippie, best wishes to Sunshine.

Flyboy, so many others would have just thrown up their hands and dogged it (Not our Doggio), says a lot about you (all positive) that you’re still working hard at your job.

JtC, nice needlework. And glad GG stood up for his rights to the catnip toy.

And that’s about it for Firday. Not sure when I will have the chance to post tomorrow, soccer starts at 8am and goes until 1:30pm so that will keep me occupied for most of the day. Take care and have a good weekend all.

Mrs. L.A. calls me a ‘Boy Scout’. [Full disclosure, I was a Webelo.]

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday. It’s also 34 degrees Ferret Height(1.11 Centipedes).

Today we’re getting hair cuts and I suggested to hubby to have the guy trim his eyebrows as well. Probably could do it himself, or I could do it, but let the scissor-happy person do it.

We’re taking cardboard over to the recycling center on the way, and then I’ll stop at ALDI on the way back. The weather’s being weird, so we’re not sure if we’ll get rain, snow, sun, clouds, or some mixture. Depending on how dry it is, we’ll go check out the train bridge, as they are taking out the one span to replace the corrosion protection, and putting in a temporary span. Many countries might just replace the span, but the original one has historical significance (it’s just old), so they want to keep it in place.

I am not exaggerating when I say that home has more books that my childhood library. I think it has more books than some used bookstores. Wow. Glad that people could buy the books instead of them being hauled off to the landfill.

Literally, step-by-step, you’ll get there. Glad to see you back and that you’re getting stronger.

Glad of it. Hope you can get bumped on the waiting list.

Such great news. Hope the Tylenol does the trick and doesn’t have nasty side effects.

Was the clothes dehydrator even on, or it is a favorite spot for Spot?

I remember our first meeting with a finance guy when we were newlyweds. Just tracking where the money goes really helps. I used pen and paper then, but now there are apps that are really helpful. Hope they follow through.

She just likes her grands better. Oh well. pouts

Made scones for breakfast and now hubby’s starting lattes. Almost time to eat!

Happy Saturday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out and rainin’ with a predicted high of 52 and rain. A good day to stay inside and dry. As I mentioned earlier, I will be makin’ food for tomorrow’s first Sunday brunch and make chikin ‘n dumplin’s for tonight’s sup. My DAWGS play Alabammy for the SEC championship at four p.m. I will most likely need extra speshul double sekrete confession and penance tomorrow. I take comfort in the fact that I won’t be the only one. Some RDOS inactivities will be thrown in to keep up my cred.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 7c/45f with a predicted high of 8c/47f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Calm your fucking tits, it’s not that fucking bad outside.” It’s damp and dreary, but there’s no snow so I guess that’s a win.

Fascinating! It would be great if you could find a job there, there’s something special about going to a job that you really care about.

Congrats on an easy repair, and long may it last!

Cherry did that to me the other day. I turned the heating up a degree or two because the house was cold and the air felt damp. She got straight onto the radiator to absorb the extra heat, and gave me a look that said I should have turned the heating up days ago.

You’re a good person to be thinking of things to make her life better. My brother had a stairlift installed for his wife, she has all sorts of medical issues both real and imaginary. It seems to help her so it can’t be a bad thing.

Sadly, the UK tends to be like that too. Some areas get snow in quantity and know how to deal with it, most areas don’t and can’t. I used to work with a woman who lived five minutes drive from the office (I lived an hour and a half commute away). At the first sign of a snowflake hitting the ground, she would rush home because “the roads would be impossible”.

She’s very lucky to have someone so supportive. I hope her recovery continues to go well.

Those few words make me very happy, you deserve good things.

Yesterday evening was fun, the gig was great and the band played for nearly 2hrs with the first half being songs from Magnum’s first four albums, and the second half was a mix of things from 1985 onwards. The only downside was the couple of guys at the back of the room who had a very loud conversation virtually all the way through every song. Honestly, it’s the last time this band will ever play, why wouldn’t you want to listen and appreciate the music?

We walked home afterwards and gave the cats some treats while we watched a short animated Predator-based film. I went to bed after that and am up with a cup of tea in a very quiet house. The cats have all had food and are snoozing in their preferred places.

Today I have to do a couple of hours fundraising for Little Paws over at a very large and very busy shopping centre. I do not look forward to being in that place in December, but it has to be done. The pet store has various schemes that we can access funds from (as their designated charity partner) but at least one of them is dependent on us being physically in the store for 24hrs through December’s weekends. I’m doing 2-3hrs this afternoon, and a couple of hours next Saturday morning. As long as we hit our target of hours, we will receive a £1,000 Lifeline voucher to spend in the store before xmas which will go a long way towards keeping all the rescue cats fed. It also means we will qualify for funds from their Santa Paws appeal, so it is important for us to spend as much time there as we can.

‘im indoors is cooking tonight so no idea what we’re having, except that it will involve chicken because that’s what he pulled out of the freezer. My turn tomorrow, and I am already thinking that sausages and mash will be my plan. I woke up this morning with that idea in my head!

She (and SIL) actually asked to check in with us monthly to keep them in line. I’m pretty sure they’re serious. We’re going to their house today to do a signed agreement, since we’re lending them money to deal with some immediate issues. This is the second or third time we’ve had to bail them out and we made it clear that it’s the last time. Our retirement funds make for a comfortable living for us, but they won’t last long supporting a family of 4 at the same time…

Your work is sooo impressive! I wouldn’t have finished one square before flinging it out the window. What’s this one destined for?

Better than burying your face in your plate in the pie-eating-contest style!

Woke to a weather warning. Apparently it was drizzly/lightly rainy overnight and some roads will be slippery. Today started at 31 Ferrets here and it won’t get too much higher. The lawns are more wet than white - poor Otis will be so confused!

We’ll be working in the shop on boat stuff this morning, then going to Daughter’s after lunch when SIL gets home from work. I ordered some plastic to go over their windows inside the house and it’s supposed to be delivered today. Their windows are crap and the film will help keep some cold out. At least I hope so. They have 8 - it would be very $$$ to replace them, but they need replacing.

The cover for my new tablet may actually be delivered today! Amazon says I can ask for a refund since it’s 3 days late, but that doesn’t seem right, especially since I think the delay was largely due to weather. So I’ll be magnanimous about it. I just want to protect my new toy!!

That’s pretty much all from FairyChatEstate on this freezing morning.

Happy Saturday!!

It is too early to be up on a Saturday.

Concert this morning. Why a morning concert? Why are you asking me?

Went to bed early last night, before the kittens had their 11pm zoomies. We’re still keeping them in their room at night because of Hazel’s predatory instincts toward our hands, so they are getting their zoomies out of their system at 6am instead.

After the concert, likely a nap. Maybe Christmas shopping. We still haven’t settled the Christmas tree question. Perhaps we will figure that out as well.

Happy Saturday!

Just found out that I may be put on the shower chair this evening, so have that to look forward to.

Morning all. Short note this morning I actually stayed in bed for the alarm clock today so need to get attired for soccer and out the door to make the 8am start. At least I have broken fast and will try and take some (semi-nutritious) snacks with me as it may be 1:30 before I get out. This is mostly meet-greet-scrimmage time but they have 52 boys and 23 girls signed up for 12U soccer (which is starting at 8) and they’ll need more than a few coaches/refs there. Nearly 360 kids total signed up, so guess it will be a pretty active winter. 37F going to 45F but no rain predicted, so we’ll see about the rest of the day.

Dicey, my barber always asks if they should trim my eyebrows (I always say yes). And taking out a span of a bridge is…odd, at least in my memory, but hope it goes well.

swampy, enjoy the game and no breaking of any commandments!!

boo fae, glad the band was great and the loud talkers…well, AHs are going to AH** I’m afraid that’s just a fact of life. Happy fundraising.

Why am I filled with terror just reading those words?

FCM, good luck with the family budget; I imagine that with two kids and all it isn’t easy to budget, but it’s something that has to be done. Hope they learn well. Used to use the plastic when I was in an apartment but the windows on my house do a pretty good job keeping the heat in.

Pavo, happy concerting.

red, happy showering.

And time to dress and head out. Have a good Sattiday all.

Nice surprise this morning. I was looking at my food diary and I opened the chart showing what I’ve lost. Turns out the 30# is just since returning from the cruise. Total since April is 40# Go me!!!

As soon as we get a relatively dry day, I’ll be going thru the yard gathering up all the wood and stuff that Otis has spread thither and yon. He’s pulled logs off the firewood pile and 2X4s out of FCD’s shop, plus he dragged out the little plastic pool that was Roxy’s sandbox. Goodness knows what else is out there! But I dare not mow till it’s all found and removed.

I’m showered and dressed and when FCD gets back from fetching his fountain drink at McD’s, we’ll head out to the shop. I have a little touch-up work to do on the doors and maybe I’ll do a bit of sweeping or vacuuming. So I’ve got that going for me…

Good morning.

It’s damp and 48°F outside. The expected daytime high is 51°F, with rain in the morning and showers and clouds for the afternoon. Yesterday was very wet with a constant downpour. By evening, and until around 3:00 a.m., it became very windy, too. I could hear branches, needles, and pinecones hitting the windows and side of the house as they flew off the big fir tree in my neighbor’s yard. Fortunately, I don’t think large branches fell.

Red, yay for progress and a shower!

JtC, I’m glad you and your hubby are content and happy.

Cookie, we have a simple bidet, too. It would be nice to have one of the fancy Japanese toilets, but I gotta say, this thing is nice, too. It’s in the powder room because that’s the toilet we use the most.

Once again, there just isn’t much happening with me. My retirement packet is still being worked on, and I do little things around the house each day. It’s been pretty yucky outside. I’m thinking of seeing if my husband wants to drive down to Olympia tomorrow to take my son out to lunch for his birthday, assuming my son is free. I can’t believe he’s turning 33 tomorrow (and he’s my youngest).

Welp, it’s time to finish my coffee and do…something. You all take care of yourselves.

While you are putting the film up, run your hands around the sides of the sill and frame and feel for drafts. Block those as well.

Thanks for the compliments on my work, this has been a fun project. I really do like working with wools but many designers would rather work with shiny stuff.

You are a very good person and I’m sure that Bast has noticed your actions and is pleased.

I’ve found the cat forums on Reddit. Now my feed is filled with pics and videos of cats and xmas trees. One person had a small tree hanging from the ceiling with the bottom about four feet from the floor. It had a kitty in it.

Happy days indeed! I’ll bet you’ve missed showering a whole lot. Please be very careful to not fall.

That’s got to be so stressful. Waiting for someone else to decide your financial future without any input from you has got to be maddening. I hope things get straightened out soon.

Not much is going on here today. I’ve done all of my daily things except dinner and that will be simple because I made a big pot of ham and bean soup yesterday so all I will need to do is heat it up and fry some cornbread.

I have learned that while I cannot refrigerate corn bread batter, I can freeze it in meal sized portions. It will thaw in the fridge overnight or in a bowl of water in about an hour. Cheap and lazy, that’s me all right!

It was cold in the building, cold enough to see your breath. I was loading 100 Middle White White most of the morning, then I got sent to finish loading Bottom Red, because the loader went home sick. And he made a hash of things before he left. I was out early, so I stopped at Ace for some food for the vermin, so Spot can watch his shows. Laundry is in the dryer, and I’m having bacon, eggs, and a glass of port for brunch.

He just likes to lay on it. For cat reasons.

For a minute I though they were putting you in The Chair, and was like “How bad was her bloodwork anyways?”

Not all at once I hope. That would be less organized than Calvinball.

Nah, that Batman level prepared.

I have NEVER had this much trouble naming a pet, but finally, almost 3 weeks after we accepted the fact that she’s now a family member, we finally got the kitten named.

Meet…..

Kasya.

(I didn’t want the C initial for Cassia because having the names of three consecutive cats have initials A, B, and C seems a tad cutesy. DH wanted the -ya ending because he prefers that pronunciation to ee-ah, wanting one syllable instead of two.)

Imgur

nettie That is one cute cat!

We dog schooled, then dog parked, now she’s tired. Which is good, perhaps less shredding of things.

Currently have turkey bits and veggies on the stove becoming broth. To become turkey noodle soup layer today…or maybe tomorrow.

Laundry, a never-ending task, responding to some emails, getting a gift ready for someone I’ll see later today, and now about to work on the novel. We hope to wrap more gifts later so we can drop them at the nephews’ place. I can smell my quinces, so today or tomorrow I’ll cook up some membrillo.

Still planning to get kittehs, but my lovely wife might need hand surgery and I’m still being evaluated for a possible hysterectomy, then I have a conference and writing retreat and other stuff, so we think it may be better to add cats to the mix later.

Once you get used to that rather startlingly cold jolt of water, it’s just fine.

WTG Mooooom!

Oh, i’m not up on my own yet. I would have to be transferred from bed to a shower chair and a tech assisting me bathing.

Welcome to the land of the Mumpets, Kasya!

Excellent! She is a beauty.
