(Old) PJD strikes again in the MMP

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 41°F and raining outside. It’s supposed to rain all day, and our daytime high will top out at 46°F.

Van Go, what awesome neighbors. I’m glad Brian has someplace to be warm and safe.

I always took two weeks of leave in the summer. It started that way because the daycare would be closed, and even when the kids became too old for daycare, I continued because one week is just not enough, especially if you go somewhere. One week was for going somewhere, the second was for relaxing at home or working on some of the projects I never had time to get to over the weekends. And, frankly, sometimes the whole two weeks was a staycation and that was just as nice.

Nellie, I’m glad your daughter and sister had wonderful birthdays.

BrightTree, those muffins sound delicious.

Sticky Buns, I’m glad your meds are starting to help and that your NP is such an excellent healthcare provider.

I don’t have plans to go out today. It’s wet and I donwanna. Other than the usual tidying up around here, there are no other plans. We’ll watch Pluribus as soon as it airs today. It’s an interesting show.

Well, this coffee isn’t going to drink itself. I’m going to finish it, load the cup in the dishwasher and set it to slosh. You all take care.

Thanks. It’s warmed up. Only 3 below today (C, natch), with fluffy wet flakes coming down.

One more brief to get out and then Christmas mode! :christmas_tree:

Good morning! I picked up some emotionally significant items for a newish Camino friend while I was in Spain, and today I’ll have coffee with her and deliver them.

I’ve arranged another writing retreat with a friend for later in 2026. I’m not sure what I’ll work on, but by the time I get there, I’ll have ideas. It’s at a time of year when the weather isn’t usually great, encouraging us to stay inside and write. It’s at a silent retreat center (though speaking is allowed in the cabins) wirh outside bath houses, vegetarian fare provided, no internet, some cellular access.

Onward.

Good morning all. Only slept in until 8am today, so ready to go…do little, nothing much on the agenda. Maybe a little house-irk, maybe a little gym-time, but nothing major. Highs will be in the mid-40’sF (38F now) but rain is expected around 5pm and will continue all night, so if I’m going to do anything outside the house it will be sooner rather than later.

Lovely feline pics, Nettie and flyboy. Those two cats together look nearly like mirror images…

flyboy, if they have no concept of quality, then they will learn their lesson the hard way…problem being it will be hardest on their employees…

Sensei, hope the visiting youth tempers the behavior of your young’uns as you expect.

Sticky Buns, hope to hear soon that your sleeping past 6am (which is my benchmark for ‘it’s too damn early’).

Piper, interesting story and sounds like the vacation policy has an effect. I seldom took more than 2 weeks at a time for vacation when I was working, but now being a RDOS taking a 3-week trip is nothing much (haven’t gone to 4±weeks yet, but one of these days…)

Keep on Pt’ing, red

Knots, be careful driving. My new car alerts me the roads might be icy..and it’s 38F outside…I’m all for caution but geez…

Cookie, bundle up well for the Costco sojourn, and don’t forget the three most important words…“wind chill factor”.

lily, happy writing inspiration.

And fast has been broken so need to see what the rest of the day brings. Have a good one all.

Hyundai is a bit naggy, isn’t it? That’s yet another reason I’m happy with my 2012 - it’ll ding when fuel is low and, of course, there’s a Check Engine light, but beyond that, it doesn’t pester me. The 2024 Santa Fe, on the other hand…

I did a bit of shopping, ran to the credit union, and touched up a bit of the white paint that showed yellow-ish thru. Not sure what the rest of the day will be. I’m sure I’ll think of something productive… or not…

FCM You said it about Hyundai. Mine texts me about every hour to let me know that the doors are unlocked. And then there’s all the beeping when parking.

In Switzerland, it’s the law that at least 2 weeks of holiday must be taken consecutively. It’s not written that the person may not sign in, as this would be according to the company. I understand from some bank IT people, that this is the case for banks in Switzerland.

Just have 10 more working days this year (Monday’s a holiday here), and then we have 2 weeks off. Where did 2025 go?

today an estate sale opened up on one of the big victorians in the rittenhouse section of phila. it opened at 2pm. good heavens! the man who lived there had an amazing home library. i don’t believe there were any rooms in the house that did not have books, (that would be the bathroom in my abode, and apparently his). multiple book shelves in every room.

Rittenhouse Square Estate with 100,000 Books! starts on 12/4/2025

as with old houses like the one above, unless you do extensive renovation, it is a rabbit warren of rooms. and this one was, tight narrow stairs, and up and down landings. it gets really crowded really quickly.

i did get some books, 1 for me and some for others. he had philosophy, greek and roman history, natural sciences, travel, not a big fiction reader. people were leaving with bags and boxes of books.

tomorrow is the condo “deck the lobby” event. hopefully, no one will spoil it this year.

My 2018 has more warning crap than a cockpit of a small plane.

In OT today, some arm strength exercises were worked on in addition to the leg ones. Taking a couple of steps with the walker wasn’t as hard either. Work, but I gotta do it to get sprung.

Thanks! I wrote down some ideas that occurred today, and I’ll see if I write them in the several months before the retreat.

A very pleasant coffee with my writer friend, and now home with some time to work on the novel. My goal is to keep working on the second draft, plus read the completed second draft chapters to my lovely wife next week. She’ll give me feedback, and I’ll see if I used the same verb three times in the same paragraph.

Yum!

We love estate sales!

It was cold out today, made colder by the fact that it was windy.

Howdy Y’all! Been a rainy, dreary day here. We are happy to be inside, warm and dry. I read, played games, watched stoopid stuff, napped and day drank. Hawt chawklit with a hefty shot of rum is nummy! Sup got fixed and et. I make a fine beastloaf . OYKW suggested beastloaf for NYD. I do believe that will happen. It will be just the two of us at Christmas, so we will probably do steaks. I like the idea of a quiet Christmas Day very much.

MG nice to hear from ya!

What games?
I can not day nap as I’d wake feeling gunky.
It is to go down to 14 tonight.
I just had some cole slaw and turkey/pepper jack sammich.
Trying to finish the book Weird Al Seriously.

And a good early evening to all. Got my gym time in and beat the rain home (it’s not storming but pretty steady rain all night). Working on my Ham-n-Cheesers as I type, making them was my major activity for the evening and nothing much else outside of watching tackleball is planned.

FCM, Maus, red, yeah, there are times it gets annoyingly bossy, but on the other hand if I close up to close (unintentionally) with the car in front it doesn’t hesitate to hit the brakes…hard. Still learning my way around the beast but it is pleasant to drive.

rocky, that was quite a collection, wish I was closer and I might have picked up a tome or two…

red, keep working at it.

MG!!. It’s great to see you in your old stomping grounds! Don’t be a stranger.

And need to do a little post-meal cleanup so see all y’all later on.

The evil white stuff is predicted overnight and into morning. Theoretically less than an inch, but with temps in the 20s, it could make for a slick ride. I’ll leave extra early for my Dr appt tomorrow.

For tonight, tho, megachillage.

I was doing pick off on DELV all morning. And because the Blueberry sorting for the Mez wasn’t doing their job, I had a lot of work. Especially at the end, where there were 100 No Scans, and 4(four) packages for the DELV trailer. I did a quick Senior Day shopping then took a quick pre hockey nap. I’m having a Royal Hawaiian, and Smoked Paprika Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans.

Double Yay!

It’s the car version of “XYZ”

I’m getting “wintry mix with no accumulation” tomorrow.

Welcome back, MG!

I always liked hawt choklit with a shot of Captain Morgan and one of creme de cocoa or Kailua in it . Warms you up, it does.

10:30pm and time for bed, but one last late-night final. Not that I have done anything in the past several hours worth reporting, but tradition! Did make hotel arrangements to go see Brother and his family on Xmas, so I guess that counts as something.

FCM, be careful (I’m not worried about your driving, it’s all the other knickleheads out there).

And that’s all I have the energy for. Catch y’all tomorrow after the Great Firday shopping trip.

Tis a whole 10 ferrets as I prep for bedtime. I have a dog who is not a fan of the cold and snow, so I’ve been dealing with inside zoomies.
