(Old) Pole Dancer and Dasher and Comet and Cupid! - A MMP For The Rest Of Us

I got ambitious and made homemade french fries for lunch. When the fries were just out of the oil and still white-hot, I sprinkled them with minced raw garlic. The high heat cooks the garlic a bit, and there you have garlic fries. They went well with steak and asparagus salad.

Nowadays if I make a big meal, it’s lunch. I can’t eat a big dinner anymore, because I have acid reflux and GERD, and dinner would just come back up a bit as soon as I lie down. Or later, when I’m sound asleep, which is even worse. So we have small dinners of maybe a deviled egg or a mug of soup, and big lunches of steak and french fries. An additional benefit to this is having no major kitchen cleanup in the evening, when one is tired and stuffed.

If it’s not raining tomorrow morning, we’ll be off for a hike on a flat trail in the country. But it looks like rain, so maybe not. Darn, just when the weather would make a mall walk a nice dry way to get exercise, it’s Christmas shopping time. I wouldn’t go anywhere near any of our malls tomorrow.

Went to get groceries, as places are closed Wednesday.
My aches are gone but my throat hurts when I cough.
Pity party. No pain my lungs just low in my throat/ neck.
I went downstairs to check the mail and there was Moley, sitting right at the sliding doors.
I put my finger up and said, " I’ll be right back!.
So I brought my packet os Salmon down ( gotta mix it up) and dropping the salmon pieces in front.
That was a mistake as it started to rain hard and Moley don’t wanna be wet.
So I put the little bit left under the tarp.
Love my Moley.
Got mail.
Peedin’s card came! I would swear it was bought in a store, professional.
Also religious, which I like.
Tonight I rest and recupe.

Those are very neat! Thank you for sharing! Also, I hope you feel better soon.

I thought they meant feets of strength - so I didn’t change my socks last month.

I can’t do it myself, for all that I spent the first 19 years of my life in Baltimore county. But I do recognize it. When I was in the Navy attending a school in Athens, GA, I knew without being told that the instructor was from Dundalk!!!

< spit take > That’s a firm no. Even if Skecher made heels, I’d stick low to the ground.

MIL got a Christmas card in the mail today from someone at their church in Ocala. We did some google sleuthing (brain farting - the appreviation in the card SWCC was referring to Christian Church not Community Church.) The sender was one of the elders and we confirmed that we’d found the right website by seeing his name listed. Anyway, FCD called them to let them know she’d died. I hate that he has to make these calls, but he’s been good about the notifications.

OK, time to add the carrots and celery to the soup. Back laterz!

Afternoon all. At Brother’s house after 6 hours driving and several stops. Fox News is on so that will be my cross to bear. Driving was great until I hit Illinois where R&R (rain and roadwork) slowed me down. Hotel is checked into and all is good,

Haven’t read all the messages yet but will do so as time permits. Take care all.

Howdy Y’all! The things got done and then I went into high RDOS mode. OYKW made the cheesecake this mornin’ so I did the things. I’ll be happy with that come feast time Wednesday when I am chowin’ down on cheesecake. We napped, day drank and et sup. In a bit it will be Netflix, chill and popcorn time.

Spuds I am makin’ company smashed not you. Christmas feast will be relatively simple: prime rib roast, roasted spare guts, the aforementioned not you, deviled aigs (I briefly considered not makin’ ‘em’ but decided I best lest there be wailin’ and gnashin’ of teeth) rolls, and cheesecake with macerated strawberries and real whipped cream. We shall munch on cheese and crackers and sip champagne (we’re fancy!) beforehand.

Cat_Glove sounds like lots of nummy cookies to eat. I highly approve. Glad you experienced such great customer service.

Coppertone feel better soonest.

MetalMouse safe travels. May the road be smooth and the idiot drivers sparse.

Sticky_Buns appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the disability claim.

MOOOOOOM remember one wears a single strand of pearls when bein’ a happy homemaker. Also remember your house dress must be startched and ironed.

Rocker all day without your phone and kindle!!? :astonished:

shoe happy trainin’ to be a RDOS day!

CupCakes happy doperversary!

Legend sorry everyone has had to deal with the plague. Hope everyone is well soonest.

Oopsie hope you’re not too sick to meet up with your dad and brother. I run cold temp wise as well so 98 would feel feverish to me.

And here I am all proud of myself just for showing up on Monday at all! It’s 3:15 pm here in the Pacific time zone.

My Festivus grievances are remarkably few. Aside from the one Very Bad Thing that happened in early November (which we aren’t supposed to talk about here), 2024 has been a pretty good year.

My goal was to work about half the year, and I ended up invoicing 26 weeks. Mrs W’s job is also going well, and we’re currently enjoying good health and a comfortable home.

I got home from my job in Seattle (where I’d spent 27 of the last 35 days) a couple of days early on Thursday. My next job is scheduled for two weeks beginning January 13th in - wait for it - Seattle. It’s going to start feeling like a second home. But it means I get three-plus uninterrupted weeks at home, while still getting a good start on the 2025 work year.

I finished my Christmas shopping and wrapping today. It’s not a lot; Mrs W and I don’t exchange big gifts, but we fill stockings for each other with little treats and fun stuff. She’s booked us a room on The Strip for the two nights after Christmas, so that’ll be our splurge. A fun getaway.

Enjoy what’s left of your Moanday!

I have a back up kindle in the office.

Always prepared.

Back home and in my snuggly fleece thing in front of the radiator. Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow, breakies out and then… who knows. The only thing I have scheduled is dinner with cousins on the 25th.

That sounds like an interesting fusion.

I have a rose colored globe teapot like the one you linked to and my little 2 cup one is this one.

{{{sticky buns}}}

That’s beyond cute!

Feel better soonest!

We had our potluck today at irk. All of the department at large (four different areas) participated and it was like an international buffet. We had lo mein, taboula salad, Equadoran chicken and rice, Thai chicken fried rice, butter chicken, both Indian and Somali samosas, empanadas, roasted chickpeas, Dominican tamales and homemade baklava among other things. It’s amazing the variations of chicken and rice different cultures come up with. My spiced nuts were also a hit. Dinners like this are one of the perks of working with folks from all over the world.

Salad for supper though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Hubs turned down an appointment for his stents/whatever tomorrow because he wanted to wait until everyone was over the holidays. He wants them focusing on him, not rushing so they can get home and start wrapping presents. Sadly, I do get it but I’m still super worried.

I even took the big bin out to the road tonight because that’s a long walk for him ATM.

I swam 800 yards today, does that count?

I also learned that I’m now a gym regular, they gave me a Chief Logan Rec Center lanyard when I signed in today. I said Thank You and left it in the locker room because I don’t use them. Here’s hoping someone takes it instead of it ending up in the lost and found with dozens of other unwanted lanyards.

Please come back and share the results, they do sound very good.

But not with jam, with spicy mustard.

Ours has six showers attached to small changing rooms, but not a lot of mirrors and no electrical outlets by any of them. Its perfectly suitable for me now, but I was much more high maintenance when I was thirty and would have had to go home to my bathroom for proper spiffying.

I’ve always thought that the tea kettle whistled when the water was boiling, but I’m used to the stove top ones.

I’m glad you arrived safely. Does your hotel have an exercise room? That’s a good excuse to escape the Fox news cause if you don’t keep up with it, you will be sorry when you start again.

Hubs does many things for cookies, I’m sure OYKW is a sucker for them as well!

I wasn’t fast enough to read it but will send many hugs anyhow.

Wait, what? Do you have a link or anything cause I’d love any excuse to add more chocolate to my life.

Should you really be standing that long?

I’m sorry for the horses that are doing poorly and hope they start feeling better soon. Give Ariel some loves for me, please.

I am so sorry, I know how much you were looking forward to being there to help out…and cuddle your cute little grandbaby.

We were promised snow, but it is clear and 35F so I think that we were lied to.

Dangit. Just in time for xmas. I hope it stays minor.

Hurray for checking in. Are you planning on seeing a show? If so, which one? I really wanted to see Penn & Teller, but couldn’t get tix before we moved so that will probably never happen.

I got my new kit today and while I’ve done pulled and drawn work before, this one has supplies I’ve never seen and required five different sized needles. I’m super looking forward to having something else to focus on, learning makes my brain feel good.

Saw the ortho PA. She took x-rays again and didn’t see any fractures. However, she is concerned that while the pain has diminished, it still bothers me. She ordered an MRI, which probably won’t happen until January because of the holiday limbo. I can stand and walk with no problem as long as I don’t have socks on and I’m wearing my gym shoes. The pain is on the sticky outtie bone so wearing boots is a no go.

I made white chocolate macadamia nut cookies, using the traditional Toll House recipe. I did not like the way they turned out. They got too brown around the edges and didn’t really spread out. I guess this is why I don’t like baking. I’d much rather cook.

MetalMouse Glad you made it to Ohio safely.

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts. I am ok. And I even got word this afternoon that the psych will fill out the form for me. I find it all very frustrating, especially going through this process for the second time. However, with the issues that I have, I think it is the right thing to do.

Got lots of groceries today. Tomorrow is going to be a day for making cheesecake and possibly some bread as well.

I saw P&T last year. Definitely past their prime, but still a fun show.
We caught Piff the Magic Dragon when my bro and SIL were here in November. Also fun, but we all thought Piff was a little off somehow. Turns out the original Mr. Piffles (his dog) had just died. He announced it publicly the following day.

No shows on the agenda this time around.

Neisenpfeffers made and put away in a cookie tin. Cranberry jello salad made. More dishes washed. 4+ gallons of water filtered. My back hurts now so I took some Ibuprophen and am sitting down.

Decided to check the status of the packages I mailed. One of them said it was delivered to a parcel locker at 4:19pm PT. I’m not sure what a parcel locker is. Is that the box at a Post Office? Although there was no PO address. It appeared to be an address at a house.

Second one changed from being delivered today by 9pm to being delivered tomorrow by 9pm (probably MT). It arrived at the USPS Regional Facility in that person’s city at 5:21pm so it likely will be delivered tomorrow.

The third one was delivered In/At Mailbox at 2:06pm PT. This concerns me as this person lives in an apt. If package couldn’t fit in mailbox, would they have just left it on the ground? Maybe person doesn’t know to go look. Heck; hope no one absconds with it.

:musical_note:There will come a day
when youth will fade away
and what will they say about me? :notes:

We saw David Copperfield back in the late 90’s. We were able to see a few things that tipped us off as to how he did it. A week later, we saw that same show on video and couldn’t see any of our clues, so we think he was so used to working for the camera that he wasn’t as careful about his theater audiences.

I did that last month and was also disappointed in the results. I blamed it on learning how to bake in a different oven with different altitude but haven’t had time to try them again. Surely Tollhouse didn’t change their recipe?!?!?

Sprains are always worse than breaks, please try to stay off it as much as possible. Maybe buy some Uggs, they are super warm and comfy plus they are skid resistant.

I wasn’t planning on doing much for xmas dinner, just a roasted chicken with veggies and smashed NOT, but now I’m in the mood for a coconut cream pie. I can get that done tomorrow, we are only going to have lunch with his family so everyone can get home before dark. While I know there will be leftovers, we always like to have our own private dinner later.

Recipe requested. Please.

Is that your SS package? PM Nayla and ask her to tell the recipient to go and look for it. If it was to a mumper, FCM has always been really nice about doing it for me. She has to, she is nice damnit!

Up from naptime, having an Old Fashioned and a cheeseburger, and watching hockey.

Gesundheit!

When you do customer service during Xmas, your soul leaves your body, and you become a meat husk indistinguishable from a bot.

Meth?

Feel better, Oopsie!

Usually a parcel locker/access point is a locker at a business like Lowes Hardware or Walgreens, where you go and sign for your package. They might have similar for apartment complexes.

I forgot to thank wet one for the lovely Christmas card earlier. It’s up on the living room bookcase as part of my holiday decor.

Hi everybody! I was invited by JaneDoe42 to join the MMP. Not sure how this works, since I don’t normally read MMP threads, but since someone mentioned grievances, here goes.

I ordered something from Etsy. Two somethings, actually: a Christmas-themed shirt for Mr. Rilch, and a pink Shiz University shirt for my friend, who I’m going to see on Christmas Eve. I ordered them on December 8th, and the package has not shown up yet.

According to the seller, they had to wait for a shipment of shirts before they could start making one, or both. Okay, but how about letting me know a bit earlier, like before it was a week past when they should have shown up? And now the package has been sent, but it’s in limbo. My other grievance with the seller is that they didn’t have a disclaimer about using UPS for shipping and needing a street address, not a P.O. box. I dunno: UPS could come by tomorrow, or it might show up at the post office after all. If I don’t have it by tomorrow…well, that’s gonna suck, but there’s a loophole where the seller can say, “It’s not my fault you live in the middle of nowhere and don’t have your own mailbox!”

If it shows up on Thursday or Friday, I can still give the shirt to Mr. Rilch. As for my friend’s shirt, I really want to give it to her now, not wait for her birthday in summer, because by that time, Wicked merch may be passe. So I’ll either mail it to her, or, there might be a way to get it to her BIL, to bring with him to her/his brother’s house.

In any case, I’m not going to get into this with a review. This is a crazy time of year for vendors, and I don’t want to humiliate them with a scathing public review. I am going to tell them in a private message, though (I’ve got a chain of messages already with them), “Next time, tell the buyer when you’ve got a supply chain issue. And maybe put it on your page that you don’t ship to P.O. boxes.”

Watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). I’ve just read the book (to myself). The movie is ending. Mrs. L.A. said, ‘So, does Dr. Seuss say that Christmas is about the birth of Christ?’ [No.] ‘So he missed the point too.’
