(Old) Rainy Days and Mondays in the MMP

gg and jolene are sooooo very adorable.

Thanks - I took a look and the options were impressive. I’ve sent an email to the folks at booking hoping to get an explanation, but it’s good to see I’ve got another choice.

OK, for sure now, I’m heading back. We’re going to breakfast at a sorta new place - they’re actually in their 3rd location, and we ate at their Leonardtown location, but that’s been many years. So we’ll see what this venue is like.

So, nighty night!!

Drinking Vitamin Water and nibbling leftover Knorr noodles, and some crackers. Do not feel like venturing out, so I plan to nuke something from the freezer later.

Have a headache from all the coughing, but at least my tummy (and parts downstream) seem to have mostly settled.

Much nappage was achieved, so I hope I can still get a good amount of sleep.

All that’s left is to attend to the rats, the poor things are rattling the empties and getting impatient.

Good evening all. Got my exercise done post-banking and then watched some European soccer and ate dinner…and been puzzle solving/slothing pretty much the rest of the time. Have got the Friday shopping list done for tomorrow morning, so I guess that is an accomplishment of sorts. Still above freezing outside but the heater is still at work. Tired and will head off to bed fairly early tonight.

Didn’t post this afternoon so lots of reading to be done…

JtC, glad both squirrels and crows are benefiting from your generosity. And best wishes for Hubs, may this catheterization go as planned. Oh, and {{{hugs}}} (and please don’t murder him, such things will get you talked about…)

wet one, hope the ankle keeps improving.

FCM, sounds like you are starting to get your life back. And would not have thought of Nextdoor as an option, glad the diapers and Depends will be of use. And yeah, church ladies can be a bother sometimes…of course, so can atheist ladies I have found out. Takes all kinds…

flyboy, sounds like a company that values it’s customers. Hope the coffee emergency is short and manageable. And quite a dream; I am currently reading old Ray Bradbury stories and he could have done something with that…and bureaucratic organizations are going to bureaucrat, it’s the nature of the beast.

cookie, glad your artistry was appreciated.

{{{shoe}}}, hope your Dad is doing OK but take care of yourself too!

red, my Brother has had Bassets for around the last 30 years, has two now, and they do live long enough to become a big part of a person’s life.

And seeing if I can get through the tackleball game on Amazon before bedtime, might be a close race…hoe the game doesn’t go into overtime. Catch y’all on Firday.

I ran by Goodwill on the way back from FedEx, and bought a Hamilton Beach coffee maker (I thought it was a Mr. Coffee – I’m notorious for not reading labels) for $9.99 – $11.00 with tax, and rounded up for a small donation. I stopped by the corner market to buy some ‘basket’ type filters, but they didn’t have any. I think (hope) the conical ones will work.

IME the cone ones won’t work, but in a pinch some paper towels shaped to fit will until you can get to a store that carries the basket-shaped filters. Those come in two sizes- 4 to 6 cup or 8 to 12 cups. Know which size your maker is (it should say how many cups on the carafe. Push come to shove too big is better than too little.

I’m getting a haircut tomorrow, so I can go to Dollar Store.

Ain’t you fancy!

Up from naptime, having a Royal Hawaiina, and the usual Smoked Paprika Chicken.

Well, they’re the state bird in Indiana, where I grew up too, but it was mostly because they are pretty, festive looking winter birds. I’m glad you liked it!

Many hugs and much patience to you.

You may want to check to see if it actually needs them or if it has a screen type filter that you wash. The last couple of drip machines that I’ve bought don’t need the paper ones. (I do keep some in the studio though, to contain embossing powder or glitter).

The screen filters I’ve used had to be bought separately. I have one that will fit this machine, but it’s down at the office. Actually, the screen filters don’t work as well as paper filters. Great if you’re out of paper filters, or if you’re not concerned with grounds residue in your cu and your teeth, but not as good as paper.

Up, caffeinated, and heaved. Off to heave.

“I had a FB friend start spamming me with car engine part pictures. I had to block them.”

Today I taped up and addressed the boxes. I was able to get one big box in the babushka cart. I took twine and lashed the other big box onto the cart, then put the smallish box in a shopping bag, stuck a pair of scissors in my purse (to cut the twine at the PO), and off I went. While I waited in line, the woman ahead of me said she’s a professional hair stylist and liked my curls. I’m not used to getting compliments on my hair, so that was really nice. We talked about a few other things, and then when I got out, she pulled up and offered me a ride, which was kind. She wasn’t going my way, and walking is good for me, so I declined with many thanks.

There was lots of pounding and such upstairs today. I assume they’re removing ruined flooring. I wonder if the company that rents the place will get charged. I should think so. Meanwhile, no more drippage, so tomorrow I’ll take the canvas drop cloth and the drip-catcher to the office.

No progress on deciding where to move.

{{{{JTC}}}} Focus on the probable, and the probable here is the VERY high chance that he’ll come through just fine. I’ll be thinking of you, though, and keeping my fingers crossed for a smooth, successful surgery. Let us know how it goes.

52, I like your nickname!

Red, you are a wonderful person and a good friend to accompany your goddog on his last journey. I’m sure his person was grateful you were there. Also, your cards are fantastic!

Did you have to buy it or did you earn it?

Sounds like Saturday night at the Screw ‘n’ Brew. (That’s a combo bar and hardware store in Cannon Beach, not my dirty mind). I hope you sleep well and wake up feeling much better!

Whoa. They’re also the state bird of Illinois! I love cardinals, but geez, Illinois, get your own bird! I guess it’s better than the stank hen. (I think not native to the US anyway.) I had a student who came in early for class and insisted on teaching me a dance move called the stanky leg. The next day I told him I felt pretty good about my skanky leg, and he was shocked. Oops.

MetalMouse, while misery doesn’t love company, I take some comfort i the fact I’m not the only one. I get it from my dad. He was a brilliant man but had no fine motor skills. When he sent us letters at college, he’d print, and Mom would translate between the lines. Unfortunately, I didn’t get his IQ, too. Anyway, did you have trouble in shop class like I had trouble in sewing class?

I have got back into my crocheting projects, but have discovered something that saddens me a bit. My hand issues, the stiffness after the should injury, and the tremor, has made small work with thread too difficult I used to love doilies, baby clothes, and even tablecloths, but now the thin thread and the thin needles create too much tension and make me hurt. So I have given away the thread balls I had to a quilting group at church. They use thread in the center of squares, and since I had lots of colors they can really use it. I have kept the hooks for thread, as I have a holder for all sizes.

I wish I could see pics of your projects.

Never stop being you.

I conked out pretty hard for a coupla hours, awoke for a rather urgent bio break but otherwise feeling decently better, drank some water aaaand … it all came back up again. Still blurf-y and now the damn headache is back from all the coughing.

I haz some woe.

ETA: sorry @Baker that indeed sucks.

At least I can still do yarn.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/41f with a predicted high of 6c/42f, and cloudy. Weather app says “The fucking clouds are all lurking outside an acting like total fucking douche waffles.” Yes, it’s definitely cloudy, and a bit drizzly too. I know this because it was like that when I came to campus and I’ve also just been out for a quick stroll over to the Law Building to stick a notice on a door. Such is the excitement of my day.

I was going to suggest advertising them on local sites but I see you’re already ahead of the game there!

I’m glad you listened and stayed at home. Also hope you feel better today!

No reason why you should - I know a couple of folks at my gym who do exactly that! One of them said it her “me” time, she was out of the house where the family couldn’t bother her for anything, she got to do what she wanted and she got some exercise at her own pace too. I must admit to spending an hour on the cross-trainer listening to music because I enjoy doing both things  Oh, and those cats are gorgeous!

Fortunately it wasn’t for academic staff so I avoided all that kind of thing - instead, I had various conversations about favourite hexmas horror films. Much more entertaining.

This makes me very happy to not be a coffee drinker. My tea-maker never fails…I either boil water in the kettle, or in a pan on the stove. Pour hot water onto tea bag(s) or leaf tea, leave it to draw, add milk and slurp contentedly

Sending positive thoughts your way - he’s in the best place and in good hands. We’ll just sit and worry with you :people_hugging:

Awwww…that sounds horrible. Did Monkey come and give you healing snuggles?

{{{{{red}}}}}

Yesterday’s hexmas party was ok, I went to the one last year so I knew what to expect. Sadly the food was very bland and boring but at least there was wine! It was all over by 4pm and we all went off home. Anyway, it was an afternoon off work and that’s not a bad thing.

Today the Travel Gods were smiling on me for the journey into campus, which probably means it’s going to be horrible going home…I’ve got some odd jobs to get through, and a meeting with one of my minions this morning so I have stuff to do. It’s also our turn for the graduation ceremony today, we have to be prepared for idiot students and their parents turning up thinking they’re going to graduate when they’re not.

So starts another day at the funny farm…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 33 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 62 and mostly clear. This will be a day of high RDOS inactivities as is our wont. Sup will be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit.

Sticky_Buns and shoe hope y’all are feelin’ better today.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

{{{{JtC}}}}

I feel your pain. I don’t really want to relate my sad tale of woe but just know there are other jackwads in the world who do this sort of evil crap against their professional minions.

============================
The foregoing was typed last evening when I was done with WFH. I WFH’d for 2-1/4 hrs in the morning then went to what I was told was going to be a Pinochle party, then when back from said event, worked another 4 hrs. Then started reading the Dope (always start with the Game Rm to ck on the dead pool threads) but I’ve been feeling a slight soreness in my throat and also a tiny earache and feeling tired/run down so as soon as I was off the phone from a call with our daughter, I shut down the computer without posting what I had written (was sort of out of it that I didn’t realize I had typed something), made some tea that I put in a thermal water bottle and went to bed in spare room after putting on a mask and telling Hubs not to go sit in the kitchen where I had been.

Back in kitchen with a mask on, actually 2. I hope that Hubs doesn’t get any germs that I may have picked up. I double mask everywhere except for in the house, outside and in one of our cars. I can’t imagine how I could have gotten infected, if that’s what has happened. This morning I’m feeling ok, just the very slightest soreness in throat but if Hubs were to get germs, he has close to almost no immunities now. So Heck, Heck, Heck.

Got close to 8 hrs of sleep, normally I only get about 5-6 hrs, sometimes 7 if I’m lucky. I need to take the yard waste can to the curb but it’s only 12* out so maybe can wait till next Friday. But last night Hubs wanted me to take a bag of old technical manuals from when he was working out to the recycling bin at the curb. So, I guess I’ll put on my down coat over my pajamas & long underwear and my sherpa cap and merino wool gloves covered by down mittens and go take care of those tasks. Be right back.

They’re nothing fancy - just lap blankets. If you scroll thru here there are 5 in a few different pictures - I wasn’t organized enough to group the blankets together so you’ll pass assorted miscellany from my life. I’m actually surprised there are only 5 - I thought I’d uploaded more, but obviously not. I figure people would think I was trolling for approval or showing off. OK, showing off a little…

I’ve never crocheted with thread - too impatient. That’s also why I never bothered to learn to tat. I want to see progress NOW!!! Most of my work is done with size I-K hooks or size 10 1/2 knitting needles.

Daughter just messaged me that Tobias has a holiday concert thing today at 11, but I can’t make it, dammit. I’ll tell FCD - maybe he’ll go. He needs a cheer-up - he’s been having nightmares in which he kills his parents and Higgs. He blames himself for something he didn’t do, but he feels guilty that he couldn’t fix it, despite knowing there was nothing anyone could do in any of the situations. And, no, he won’t talk to the grief counselors. Looks like stubbornness is inherited.

Busy day ahead for me - not sure how much I’ll get done. The guest room carpet for sure, after I move the smaller furniture out of there. Then there’s laundry, some more sorting, the meet-up with the caregiver to pass the incontinence items to her, and I’m sure there was more, but I can’t brain this morning.

I did wake up deep in the dark, warped humor mode, so I shall spoiler the following. You have been warned.

Preacher’s wife and several others have asked “Was her passing peaceful?” And it was, but my sick sense of humor this morning suggested this scenario: “No, in fact it was a nightmare! First there was the vomiting, then her bladder and bowel control ceased. The smell was horrendous! And the screaming and cursing - I didn’t think it would ever end! We had to throw the mattress away and tear up the carpeting. I’m thinking maybe we should just move.”

I do have my disturbing moments.

We were supposed to go out for breakfast but I don’t think FCD is up yet - I think he was up again in the middle of the night. I think I’ll suggest we reschedule for Tuesday - we can take our time eating, and we’ll be in the same neighborhood where we’re meeting our money guy at 10. Yeah, I think that’s the better plan. So today, I’ll send him to fetch a McBreakfast.

Oh, Happy Firday the 13th! :scream:
