(Old) Rainy Days and Mondays in the MMP

Cookies = yum - how hard is that???

Work from home options? I know lots of people do it. Come to think of it, I keep seeing ads for proofreading from home - unless those are scammy. Just a thought.

Nurse said MIL is most likely in a coma and there’s nothing unusual or disturbing about her at this stage. Her decline is progressing as expected, if somewhat slower than they might have thought. They keep telling us it won’t be much longer - I’m guessing MIL is outside the norm. For my sweetie’s sake, I truly hope it won’t be much longer. He’s a mess.

The overly large cookies are quite good, and a number of them have disappeared already. Go figure…

And the Swiss Colony box was just delivered - it’s from TX SIL - LOTS of stuff in it, all in little bitty sizes. Nice of her, but dang, so many sweets! I see Roxy and Tobias getting a bag of goodies, unless SIL sent them a box also.

The sloppy joes were yum, and just enough for 2, so no leftovers. Huzzah!! Now it’s recliner time.

What she said!!!

I will not eat tootsie rolls. When I donate to the Kiwanis Club, I decline their offer of a tootsie roll. I don’t care for skittles, anything with marshmallow, candy corn.

You can tell what my favs are by what I buy to give out for Halloween: snickers, Reese’s cups, M&Ms. Otherwise, dark chocolate. When I went trick or treating, my favorite was root beer barrels; haven’t seen them in a long time.

IL Congrats on the birth of your new grandson! That’s a big boy.

I’d vote thrift store. I wish I could find certain lid covers, especially for a few corning ware casseroles I have, but also some pots.

Been filtering water, almost done. Prepared a draft of a Christmas card news note. (not doing a letter this year). Sent it to daughter for any suggested edits. Hoo Boy. First she asked why I didn’t set it up in columns. Well, as an Accountant, I have expertise in Excel; not Word. Unfortunately, I can’t do a Christmas letter/note in numbers. So, I sent her the original draft and she edited the heck out of it… like she was on her college newspaper and was editing news columns. Well, can’t fault editing perfection. Now I need to get on my original, the one with the decorative heading and make the changes.

While, I’ve been doing this, I’ve had Pandora on the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Radio station. A lot of CSNY, CSN (which I prefer-Neil’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard), and some of Joni, James, and Beatles. Just played For What It’s Worth.

Hi, folks! Sorry for the late check-in, but (a) I plumb forgot, and (b) I had a neurologist appt. earlier today. My old neuro left town, so this was a nervous introduction to his replacement, Dr. Liz.I told her about my leg cramps waking me up, and she Rxd a new drug. We’ll see how that goes.

The weather here in Elkhart is uncommonly warm, 51F this afternoon. We had a snowstorm a few days ago, but that’s all gone now.

My brother’s wife is very sick, with interstitial lung disease. She’s been in an induced coma for weeks.

Best wishes to all of you!

Does anyone else like Mallo Cups?

We can still be friends, sort of.

Sadie is back home and hiding under the bed, minus eleven teeth. They apparently get very brittle and break into many fragments. So we’re $1700 poorer, but she’ll be much happier.

Reminds me of when we took in a stray dog off our street - that “free” dog needed $urgery and some eriou grooming.

Worse than kids… :stuck_out_tongue:

I love Sixlets and otherwise dark chocolate. I detest anything with raisins in it and most kinds of white chocolate.

I just applied for a part-time job at the store at the mall where they sell my art stuff. It sounds like just a 5 hour shift which wouldn’t be so bad for my legs. We shall see what happens.

:open_mouth:

Happy anniversary FairyChats!

Although I like the occasional gummy (at least the special ones), I heartily agree with this list with the addition of marshmallow stuff.

Congratulations!

From a shopper’s perspective, finding pot / pan lids at the thrift store when you are missing one is the difference between continuing to use a pan or sending it to recycling.

Please do check in with us now and again to let us know you’re OK. You know we worry.

Thank you for taking care of her. You’re right about being much happier (and healthier).

To answer the OP, I enjoy a warm rain in the summer, but detest the cold rains that we get in the fall here. It rained all night last night. I had to suit both Nelson and I up in rain gear to go out before bed and when we got up this morning. Cold rain also makes my bones creakier.

Not a whole lot shaking at CasaRoja, but am enjoying a little reddish dog in my arms.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! Bug man did the bug thang. I did errands. I got the spoiled brat two boxes of chawklit covered cherries cause I am a saint and do nice things. I think they’re ick. We achieved nappage and day drinkin’. Sup got made and et with leftovers for tomorrow. The biiiiiig trash can got drug up from the road to where it lives. Also got my neighbor’s trash can and put it where it lives cause, again, I am saint and do nice things. It’s rainy which makes for good sleep weather.

I didn’t get much done today. I’m just not feeling it.
I turned up the heat in the bathroom and took a long hot shower. It felt good, until the hot water ran out.
The sun came out for a bit this afternoon and it felt so good coming through the windows.

I’m sort of glad I didn’t get a patio put in yet because I was going to get a plain old cheap awning. Now I think it might be a good idea to get a retractable one so I can block the sun in the summer and let it shine on in in the winter.

I absolutely adore the rain. Maybe not enough to move to the Pacific Northwest, and it is probably the scarcity that makes it seem so special. Living in Southern California, unless it is an El Nino year, we usually don’t see much at all.

I know to some people the rain is annoying, perhaps even depressing, but I swear it just always puts me in the greatest mood.

Aw, poor Sadie. I hope she recovers easily and you can get the meds in.

Evening all. Swimming was good, managed to do 74 minutes straight (2,200 yards) and then changed and did my pedaling and walking, so no evening session at the gym tonight. Ate three Krystal’s (the South’s White Castle) double Cheeseburgers and fries (cost $16, which is lots more than most places, so they may come off the Moanday list). Am sitting here waiting for the Southwest Chief at LaPlata on the Virtual Railfan You Tube (due 7:32pm) and figuring out what I can snack on without overdoing it (a container of Mott’s applesauce and some carrots will work). Then do some newspaper reading, I am a week behind as usual. Made hotel arrangements for Xmas, but nephew is still in ICU in Cleveland so I made sure that it’s fully refundable, just in case.

nellie, do what is best for you, but don’t forget the people here who are invested in your life, too. If you were 2,500 miles closer… As for the apartment mystery, it’s a secret government safe house for defecting spies…at least that’s my guess…

Sari, good on the nail clippings, bad on the mouse turds (traps out?). Hope the shopping goes well and the dogs enjoyed the change of scenery.

And the Amtrak Chief got to the station 7 minutes early. Five off, on one, off to KC and eventually Los Angeles. Need to ride that train someday…

Sticky Buns, that was…odd. And good luck with the job application.

Legend, congrats on the new grandbaby for you to spoil. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

CatGlove, glad you could help that caller, finding a place during the holidays ain’t easy.

cookie, glad the dental work went fine, hope Sadie forgives easily.

shoe, parents do things that are beyond the mortal ken of their children…or they are just weirdos…

FCM, good idea on the donation; some things we never expect to need suddenly become critical and it’s nice someone is there to help out. And if you need to get rid of some of those goodies…

Don’t Ask, best wished to Sis-in-Law.

And that’s all for now. Take care.

Up from naptime, having an Old Fashioned, and a cheeseburger with mushroom and onions.

ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!

Welcome Lysol!
My favorite is summer rain that washes away the smog and pollen.

 I wanna see that on Youtube.

As noted, you shall be Lysol and well, you have been officially assimilated into the MMP.

Long may you reign.

I had some people from the sciencenter visit on Friday, to look at stuff they may want from my 20 years of building exhibit shit. I caught a cold from one of them. But I suppose them buying 2500 worth of stuff is an ok compromise.

Put me on the dark chocolate team, But I do like sour gummies. But no cocoanut. Or black licorice.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave

What a horrible thing to get in the post! I hope you find something happy in your day to make up for it.

Lovely news! I’m glad to hear newbie is hale and hearty. How’s his mum? Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well though, I hope it passes soon and you get lots of cuddles too.

Fingers and paws crossed for her, I am sure she will forgive you once she realises how much better she’s feeling. And the good drugs will help

Then how are they renting out for such a short term every time? Sounds like something very fishy up there.

It is a lot to think about, and obviously you need to work on that yourself. But don’t stay away from here, come and tell us what you’re thinking, how it’s going, and how we can help. We need to know you’re ok. Also, look into remote working options as there’s much more scope for home-working now.

I had some awful cherry medicine from the hospital when I was very small. It was absolutely vile and I have never been able to go near cherries since then. The closest I get is a cat called Cherry

I’m glad the hot shower and some sunshine made you feel better - some days you just need something like that.

Much excitement today - the curtain man is here! It’s been a month since I ordered my vastly expensive new curtains for the living room, and today they’re finally being fitted. I managed to get the old curtains and track down by myself but left the fixings for him to deal with. 'im indoors had to empty a load of comics out of a wooden blanket box that sits in the bay window, and we had to move the stand with the tellybox and all the other gubbins on it. I managed to clean behind it, was very messy and there’s a lot of cables back there. Anyway, it’s looking a bit more respectable, and it’s going to be beautiful when the new curtains and track are up.

On the downside, I have a meeting at 10am to discuss Greek and Latin exam papers for our January exam session. I am at home, the other three people involved are on campus so it’s going to be a hybrid meeting. I don’t hold out much hope as the guy running it is not a fan of technology!

Campus food prep and grocery shopping later - might use my lunch break for the grocery run instead of doing it this evening. I only need to do two lunches this week as we have our festive social on Thursday so there will be a buffet lunch, and day drinking! I am not overly excited about the whole thing but it’s better than working.
