(Old) Really? I'm starting the MMP?

And here’s the Rat’s late night update. Skipped swimming but did coach soccer, and afterwards used all those Kroger points I collected in the past month and actually, for the first time in decades, got the ‘gallon’ total to go faster than the ‘dollar’ total. So full tank and not so empty a billfold. Then stopped by the gym and took 500 calories off according to the computers on the stationary bikes, ate my Big Bowl O’Salad, and have snacked a bit. Tomorrow will be busy, coach my first game at 8:15am, referee at 9:45, coach again at 11am, then get about an hour off before coaching a third time (it’s a tournament) at 1:30pm. So a pretty full day tomorrow.

Shoe, nice going by the staff on that ‘upgrade’ to the pizza order. And mea culpa on the mis-identification.

nellie, hope you had a good walk with Ms. Dog. And I bet you just can’t wait for Tenant #4

Wet one, It will wear off, in it’s own good time. Been there, glued that.

Oopsie, a most happy anniversary to you and Bailey. And yeah! on the new storm door. And the Yanks are up 2-1 in the 8th as I type this.

Good luck on the laptop fix, swampy

flyboy, welcome back.

Hippie, looks like a wonderful place to relax when you’re not fishing.

FCM, that’s why I coach; I can get them stirred up and then hand them back to their parents…

JtC, lovely pic of the two of them.

And it’s closing in on 10pm and the alarm is set for 6:30am so I can be sure I remember to take everything I need with me (Narrator: He won’t). Take care all, will be back in touch sometime tomorrow.

Also, it is St. Crispin’s Day! So go out and crush a French host!

They were both good boyz! As are the current Mumpets.

The walk was wonderful. She always gets many compliments, which she loves. Someone yelled out of a passing car, “Great dog!” She got many pets and pats and sniffed many butts (mostly canine). And joy of joys, there were many ducks, about two dozen, at The Curl, land that curves like a comma tail around a ducky place. They’re the Ducks of Curl. :musical_note:

But the really stupendous thing was on the other side of the lake. There were hundreds of Mallard ducks flocking there, and another 100-150 swooped in. I’ve never seen so many ducks in one staging area! They were forming scraggly squadrons. Each squadron had at least 40-50 ducks. I counted 9 of groups, but there may have been more, as it was hard to tell too far in the distance. How do they know which squadron to join? Is this what’s known as a Grand Passage?

Unfortunately, Ms. Dog couldn’t see them, as there were low bushes in her way. She was very patient, though, and Mother Nature made it up to her later by sending a squirrel skittering 5 feet in front of her. So a good walk. I’ll have her all day on Halloween.

swampy, hope you find a Fixer of Laptops.

MetalMouse, tomorrow sounds exhausting. And I’m content to wait a loooong time before Tenants #4.

Welcome home, flyboy!

I’ve read all and probably missed replying to many, but I’m very tired, so domani.

Just went to a large format print shop in a slightly seedy part of town. It is pretty much opposite a police station. When I collected my print job, I found this homeless guy having an epileptic fit in the road.

So I know the signs of epilepsy, a friend in high school had it. I am wearing a red shirt, so I thought I was reasonably visible. Stopped traffic, then I went across the road to tell the police, guys, call an ambulance. I know an epileptic fit is not always a medical emergency, but shit, better safe than sorry.

Fuck me, the cops could not have been less interested. Motherfuckers, there is a potential medical emergency DIRECTLY OUTSIDE YOUR POLICE STATION!!

I stopped traffic, some other guy helped me to move the guy out of the road, and he called an ambulance (he’s private security so he actually called his office and someone else called the ambulance). The guy finished his fit and - as is usual - was really confused and walked down the road without his meagre belongings.

I picked them up, chased him down and gave them to him. The private security guy then relayed that an ambulance was not necessary.

WTF, police? I don’t have a bunch of respect for them because I am in a law-averse counter-culture, but society has agreed that the fucking police have some duty to help. They are not paramedics, sure, but looking out the window at a man I reported as spasming just off a major road did not elicit any care whatsoever.

Just a guess, but they may have seen him go thru this before and assumed it would just pass again. But, I agree, that was pretty disgusting.

It’s gonna be a day here. I got the kids down by 9:30 but FCD said he heard Tobias crying for his daddy after I went to bed, and he wound up sitting with him till after 2AM! Needless to say, my poor sweetie is still sleeping. I think I got about 5 hours of sleep myself, maybe 6. So it’s gonna be a day. Hope SIL comes fairly early.

Not sure what the kids will have for breakfast when they get up. I don’t keep sugary cereals, but I did buy toaster strudel, and I’ve got cinnamon raisin bread, and I can always scramble an egg or something. For now, tho, they’re both asleep still. So yay.

As for the rest of my day, I’d like to run the mower around the yard before too many more leaves accumulate. And probably other stuff. Maybe I can plan better after more caffeine.

Happy Saturday!

Morning all. Set the alarm for 6:25am so of course got up at 6:05. Got all the paperwork ready and am 60% dressed, just need to remember to take everything with me.

scudsucker, yeah, it was not a good look for the cops, albeit FCM may have a point about them having seen and dealt with it before so they don’t consider it a ‘big’ deal…but still, ‘to protect and serve…’ But you and the other guy did a very good thing.

nellie, sounds like a great walk for both of you. We have geese residing in a pond near the fields, so sometimes things stop and everyone watches them come by at low level taking off.

And need to gather my thoughts (they are scattered all about) and get some nourishment before departing for the fields. Have a good day all.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. ‘Tis 55 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 87 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is mowage cause I must. The rest of the day shall be spent in high RDOS inactivities. My Dawgs have a bye week so I shall be watchin’ other kollege tackleball games between nappage and day drinkin’. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for pizza.

Scudsucker good on you and the other guy for helpin’.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Grands are up and dressed and watching Stinky and Dirty, MIL is sleeping in her chair. FCD is doing more design stuff for the boat. I’ve showered, dressed, and emptied the dishwasher. I put the basement more or less back together. Waiting for SIL to claim his spawn.

Good times!

I woke up coughing and achy and feeling lousy. Allergies, sinusitis, or bronchitis? Or Og forbid, donkey fazoo.

I had a reply started and then life got in the way. Now I’m back and I’m sampling the new 7up Shirley Temple. I was super excited when I saw it in the store because I remembered the hallowed days of Pomegranate 7up. But, despite this saying that it has a Pom flavor, it’s not the same. The flavors, in general, could be described as subtle. I’ve never had a real Shirley Temple, though, so maybe this is spot on. (NOS)

The spawn are gone! Peace reigns! I need a nap…

Even if they’d seen this before, at the very least, get the poor guy out of traffic. Major fail from the PD.

It sounds like you and Ms. Dog had a wonderful walk, nellie.

Up, caffeinating and messing around in the studio.

It was raining when I woke up, so I read for a bit until there was a break in the rain to take Nelson out. We made it back in right before the clouds let loose again.

Not much on the slate today except picking up a prescription, so it’s a rainy play day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Remember the father in My Big Fat Greek Wedding and his Windex? That’s MIL with antibiotic ointment. Scratches, cuts, bug bites, dry patches. And she has tubes of it on her night stand, on the table next to her recliner, on her bathroom sink, and in her purse. When she moved in with us, she had 8 tubes of it around her 2 room apartment. At least she’s not hoarding Windex, right?

So nice and quiet with the grands gone. And it’s time for lunch. Must forage.

The what now?

As of this morning, I have reached the pinnacle of pancake making. I had no buttermilk for my cornmeal pancakes so I substituted Greek yogurt (thinned with some milk). The cakes, fried in unsalted butter, came out lightly crispy with a fluffy texture. Heavenly.

A down day today with nothing planned. We’ll rest up until Monday when the wife’s niece comes over with husband, one of her sons, and the son’s girlfriend. I’ll be making butternut squash soup with ginger shrimp and a side salad of greens, pears (Harry & David), stilton and candied walnuts.

In addition to ordering my new storm door yesterday, I also sent a deposit to my lawn company and got on their schedule for some front yard landscaping. It’s a small house, so there isn’t a lot that needs to be done: 3-4 small hedges need to be trimmed, and they’ll clean up the beds on either side of the front door, but the main thing will be pruning/shaping the small crepe myrtle that’s next to the sidewalk between my house and the street. It hasn’t been touched in the 10 years I’ve lived here, and it’s become a bit unruly; one side is even impinging on the sidewalk a little. When the guy came out to discuss the work, I asked that they make it as small as possible.

The door and landscaping work will take care of 66% of the things on my house-related list: the last item is to fix the gate latch before the final bits of wood rot and fall off and it stops being latchable at all. I keep putting that off because I can’t decide whether I want to look into replacing the gate itself – part of me wants to go from wood to metal, but I’d have to find a company that offers a design that will still keep the doggy in/critters out but doesn’t cost more than a car – or just upgrade the latch mechanism (more likely). Either option is out of the question this year due to the door and landscaping costs, but maybe I’ll revisit in the spring…fingers crossed that the current latch hangs in there that long. (Yes, I’m a renter, but I bought the fence and it’s my responsibility until I move out).

Today’s plans include a personal training session (at 12:30), then dinner and pumpkin carving with my BFFs. I have two stencils printed out and ready to go, and will decide which one to use when I see my pumpkin. :jack_o_lantern:

Thank you! All puppies are cute, but she was objectively very cute. She frequently got comments and compliments, even from jaded vets and groomers and doggy daycare staff.

I wish I could use one of those on my work computers! Not because we get spied on or I want to fake anything, but because one laptop will always automatically lock while I’m using the other: it switches my MS Teams status on that laptop to “away,” which isn’t accurate, and then I have to stop what I’m doing and log back in – which only takes a few seconds, but happens several times a day. Sometimes I can catch the “screen goes black right before it locks” moment out of the corner of my eye and wake up the other laptop in time, but not always.

As you know, it did not end well for me. But I got to see the first ever walkoff grand slam in a World Series: even if it wasn’t a Yankees hit, that was some good baseball. Bring on Game 2!!

So we’re back to the “no 6th punch” thing. Which would have been nice to tell me before I got to work. So I came home and napped with Spot, which made him glurry with joy. Now I’m up, bacon and egg-ed, and off to buy cat food and bitters before college handegg. Go Huskers!(Not to be confused with Hüsker Dü)

Which sounds like something straight out of rodent p0rn.

At least keep traffic from running him over til EMS shows up. WTF indeed.

My Cornhuskers just went up 17-14 against the #4 Ohio State. Must be my Mumper friends sending good karma our way. Thank you all!

Go :football: Big :corn: Red !!

doggio I wish we were in the same zip code or at least the same time zone so I could buy you a :cocktail::beers:~your college handegg karma is bringing it!
