(Old) Silly Songs In The MMP

FCM Hopefully the OT got through to MIL. And your lives become a touch easier.

spicey Ugh, the galloping crud! {{{Happy birthday}}} from a distance.

flyboy Enjoy Dune 2. I liked the first one, but I’ll probably wait for it to get to streaming. I just don’t like going to movie theaters anymore.

Me? I made 10 of these today. Still needs some clean-up sanding and a coat of finish. Comments appreciated.

Still dealing with some stomach pain, but I’m going to head to the gym anyway. Why should the rest of me go to rack and ruin?

Yesterday I got a Friend request from a student I had clear back in 1991-1992. I was surprised she even remembered me after all this time. I always enjoy seeing my student’s kids and learning what’s happened to them in the years since we shared a classroom.

This was so sweet! Thank you! For some reason, I missed this earlier.

Alas, she’d still get up and fall, just within the confines of her bedroom. Serious question: How long do you think you can go on like this?

Thanks so much to you and the others for the concern. It wasn’t slippery, honestly. And it would still have been twilight when I got home. I wear flashing wristbands and/or a flashing safety vest (all straps, but that’s what it’s called) at that time of day. I no longer trust drivers, even in the daytime. You know the traffic circle at Fourth and West Bay Dr.? I avoid it at all costs on sunny days because cars don’t notice the flashing lights at the pedestrian crossing. Also, it’s where I got “nudged” twice by one car when I first moved here and was heading to Tai Chi class at twilight.

I can’t blame him. Those puppies are so cayuuuute! My son and DIL use some kind of wet wipes for dogs to clean paws. I suppose they’d be harding to use on excited youngsters, though.

Point taken. And now that song will go through my head when I’m considering anything remotely risky.

sari, I’m concerned about the almond butter since it makes your mouth tingle. You have an epi pen you keep at hand, right?

I can just imagine Nelson’s woebegone face.

They also serve who only crash the pate.

Yeah, right. Good luck with that, LOL! Puppers and kittens do not know how to rest and stay quiet after surgery, the best you can do is contain them somewhat.

Well, then I’m sorry I assumed the other dogs were at fault. I hope he gets better.

Can you eat cashews? Cashew butter is pretty tasty.

Well dang. Just when things seemed to be calming down.

Put her in the litterbox and let her see you cover her poop with your hands. She can figure it out from there.

What? I never had or wanted kids either.

Looks like you taught her well, you should be very proud!

Oh, poor Maggie! I hope she was too stoned to remember her embarrassment.

Says the man who makes quilts to die for! Thank you so much

Dang about MIL falling again last night. I hope she remembers what the OT person said about the alarm but you’ve said her short term memory is going as well. I am sorry for everyone, this must be so hard.

I started that piece on 4/27/23 (I always write the start date on the edge of the piece), but got all grumbly about the constant corrections and put it down for months so I’m not sure how long it actually took me. In the past, these pieces take about five months.

That is some really cool stuff!

I hope everyone has a great time. Hopefully the pups will be so tired from the beach that they won’t have the energy to make a big mess at son’s place.

Thanks for the compliment. And, yeah, GG learned young to avoid the wrath of VBC…“you won’t like her when she’s angry.”

Beams proudly :innocent:

While I would have enjoyed a penis sampler, I do these with Mom. While I’m pretty sure that she has had sex at least four times, that’s just something I don’t want to think about, LOL!!!

I can get that. I used to smoke tobacco and even then I knew it stunk. Now it really stinks IMHO, but I still have tobacco smoking friends and want them to be comfortable while visiting, so wouldn’t be happy with that restriction.

Thank you  Has anything changed now that the fosterlings have a permanent home, or did they have that figured out long ago?

Oops, Ninja’d, LOL!

And a good late afternoon/early evening to all. Got all my swimming in (all 2,200 yards, needed to take a break in the whirlpool after the first 1,600) and some Amazon stuff got here ahead of time (came by US Mail). Have some new pants to try on, going from a 44" waist to a 42", may still be a bit tight but I’m optimistic. Agreed to ‘coordinate’ the 10U girls soccer program this season, which means mostly (1) putting the teams together and (2) begging for coaches. We’re due to get started March 18th, so have a couple of weeks to get organized, then the games start the 30th of March and run to the end of May. So that will help keep me busy for the springtime.

shoe, feel better soon. Hope you don’t need to see Doc and you can get some Sleeply, but you’ll never be Bashful or Dopey (well, maybe when you’re smoking the wildwood weed).

FCM, hope the OT message takes hold for MIL.

Nettie, that’s some serious weather out there. Be careful.

Spicy, take care of yourself and hope you’re feeling better soon.

talkie, enjoy the sitting and coffee this weekend; you’ve earned it.

Vango, they look real professional, hope they sell fast.

OK, need to fix up my Big Bowl O’Sallit and bunker in for a night’s internetting. Indoor soccer is over, so I am at loose ends for tomorrow, but I’ll think of something.

.

You’ve probably surmised that our new Friday spot is Gateway 1890’s Smugglers’ Tunnel Speakeasy. As usual, we each had two Hemingway daiquiris. I had four shrimps from the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, and two potstickers. The Spousal Unit had two shrimps and four potstickers. I also had a Caesar salad. We’re both stuffed.

We thought we ight run into that chemical engineer we met at The Black Cat last week, as she likes going for oysters at Drayton Harbor Oysters and then to Gateway 1890; but we do tend to go early.

Hugs to all of the Weasels.

I like the graphics.

Given what I’ve accomplished today, I look to be done with the album sometime Sunday afternoon. Much as I enjoy it and even like the money involved, it’s also nice when one is complete.

Now, it’s about time for some lap time with Nelson.

I made it to the gym and was able to watch the 2023 finale of the Great British Baking Show while on the treadmill. The contestant I liked the most out of the very likable group won, so that was nice.

For a moment there, I thought you meant like a Whitman’s Sampler, with a labeled diagram inside the lid.

Avoid the one with nuts.

It’s a winner! Love the Finger lakes. Useful and a beautiful handmade object, as well as a unique memento.

My suggestion~in smaller print engrave the month and date as well. If potential buyers are like me they’ll appreciate that. Sign the back or attach a label~in years to come you’re going to be a sought after artist.

^^^This!

I can remember a time when I would have been all over that!!!

Awww, geeze. This is such an issue with retail workers, no sick time so you keep passing the crud back and forth.

I wonder about that…his numbers seem a little high.

That’s so not fair, you are still recovering from Covid. Rest and get well.

Thank you. You can do what I do, anyone can. The hardest part is learning to read and FOLLOW the instructions. Sometimes they aren’t the best, especially if you are working with patterns from the pre-computer days.

The piece I am working on now has a hand-drawn stitching guide and three paragraphs of instructions.

Printing out the charts and stitching guides for the sampler used about half a ream of paper.

Thank you very much, but I am not creative. Not like hippy, Sticky Buns or VanGo. I am very good at following instructions though

I hate days like that! I hope you get some porchinating time, that is so good for your health.

That is amazing. Seriously. I could never have come up with anything like that in two days.

My only comment would be to stain some of them dark colors and some of them light colors because that is the sort of thing to be displayed after the eclipse and you want folks to be able to match their décor.

:frowning:

I hope this resolves soon.

I’m so glad you heard from your student. I can still remember my favorite algebra teacher’s name. I should look him up some day.

I enjoy my needlework, but I am always happy when I’ve finished something. I don’t have the extra incentive of getting money for it, so I sure do understand why you are happy.

Give the lil guy some scritches for me!

Paintcharge, I love the piece that you made!

Spicy, I hope that all your family feels well again soon.

FCM, I do hope what the OT said today will stick.

I am so sleepy right now, but MusicMan won’t be home for another hour and I am waiting up for him. Today was somewhat productive. However, when I went to my volunteer work interview, the person that I was supposed to talk to wasn’t there. She called me and apologized profusely a little while later and so I’m going back there on Monday. Not sure yet what’s happening this weekend. Maybe I’ll actually put some clothes away!

Thanks you to everyone who had something nice to say about my art! :purple_heart: It is all about fun for me. I work with polymer clay, copper wire, resin, and old silverware. Basically I just kind of rotate from one medium to the other when I get bored. Although, after the rush to produce so much all at once, it will probably be awhile before I get the urge to create anything else.

Ok, I’m going to get back to watching old episodes of What’s My Line. See y’all later!

Napped. Spot "helped me put awy the clean laundry. I had a Cuba Libré, perch, and rice and green beans.

Awwww. Feel better

Feel better, too.

Outstanding. And I like teh sign/date bit and the year idea.

She pooped in the car on the way home. But it didn’t bother her, like Gordie she was cute, but had the IQ of a matchstick.

Nettie, Holy crap!

Had a chicken bowl from Chipotle. The meat was so tender! Have enough left for lunch tomorrow.

Me too! On Sweet Manager’s advice I went to Walgreens on my break and got Vicks VapoRub.
Did you know it comes in a lavender scent now?

Still stinks of camphor and eucalyptus and respiratory illness, but hey, now with lavender overlay!

Spent the rest of my shift in a camphor-scented cloud.

Sweet Manager is still sick, too - we both looked like hell.
She treated me to some of her Day-Quil, though, which was much appreciated.
I didn’t feel like it helped, really … but I sure as hell felt it wear off.

Ugh, it didn’t help that Carless Co-worker was on dough roller duty tonight. He moves too slowly, just canNOT keep up with Friday night rush demands. We kept running out of this size crusts, then that size.

Oh!! A bit of good news, though. Old New Guy is officially gone. I was so relieved when S.M. told me she was gonna let him go.
She was like, “I just canNOT keep an eye on him all the time, we are too busy!”

So we were short-handed (and two sickies!) but frankly, I didn’t mind that part too much b.c. of the reason WHY we were short.

Oh, wait!! Two bits of good news! Sweet Manager surprised me with a new hoodie/windbreaker. It’s super lightweight, just enough to, well, block the wind without me overheating, and it features a BLACK CAT’S EYES!!
She said she saw it and immediately thought of me. Plus it fits perfectly (I’m tall but scrawny) and I got a couple of compliments on it already.

:four_leaf_clover:

A coupla years ago, I friended my old high school English teacher. It’s been a hoot reconnecting. (I found her through a friend/classmate - saw she’d commented or something and was like, “OMG it’s Mrs. [Name Redacted!]”
She had a reputation as something of a battleax, but she was the reason I got an English degree and another in Journalism.

So I hope it didn’t make her feel weird to see me (virtually) after all these years!

I saw on FB where someone had crocheted a lovely drawstring bag, filled with an assortment of crochet penises.
Yes, it was a bag of dicks.

… almost made me wanna learn how to crochet!

That’s goddamn ridiculous. Mother Nature needs to calm her ass down.

Thank you for the best laugh I’ve had all day.

I endorse both of these suggestions!

Please do so.

I had a coupla shekels and decided to stop at Close By Dispo on my way home & treat myself to a pair of their higher-strength indica prerolls. I’m sick, dammit! I deserve something that’ll make me feel, if not better, at least vaguely less miserable.

Now it’s time for a very long, very hot shower & a fresh slather of Vick’s Stinky Rub. ™

I’m a little worried about Nelson. After a pre-cuddle round of fetch, he began limping with his right front paw giving him problems. He may have injured it when he slid across the kitchen floor (he has a Pete Rose style slide). I checked his shoulder, knee and paw with no yips, but he had to be lifted into bed. I did make him a little peanut butter taco with a half of a carprofen left over from his dental surgery this summer and hoping that relieves what I think is a sprain. Poor baby.

Ratties needed water refills, and got a meal of oatmeal flakes, pasta, and bran flakes - yum!

Oh, I saw a nest with brand-spankin’ new bebehs, so the moms probably need a protein boost.

Monkey got his gooshy-food tribute and is being a bit of a butthead a handsome gentleman.

I had my very long steamy shower, which unclogged all kinds of yuck made me feel better, and have re-slathered myself in Vick’s Stinky Rub.
Currently ingesting some mashed potatoes doctored up with garlic “butter” and trying to get hungry/bougie enough to bust into the salmon I have stashed in the fridge.

I got two fresh lemons when I got the fish, and I did have some orange juice earlier. Hopefully the Vitamin C will help.

Okay, ratties got their dried mealworm mix, which brought Mom off the nest in a hurry.

I did get a shot of bebehs. They’re … not cute when they’re this new. Kinda like - in my mind - human babies.
Anyway, if you’re curious, here’s the most recent results of Romeo’s exploits:

Van Go, JtC, and Sticky Buns, your art is all amazing! So many creative people around here!

FCM, I’m afraid I have no useful advice for you, but I wish you and your whole family the best in a very tough situation.

And I hope all the sickies get to feeling better soon.

I went to today’s ukulele lesson for the first time since… early January, I think. Everyone was happy to see me, which was nice. I’m super rusty but I mostly kept up. Gotta make more time to practice between sessions.

We went to the Pub for dinner tonight and then stopped at the wine bar. Haven’t done either of those in a while. It’s good to have a little more breathing room in the budget. It was a nice day, too, though it’s gotten quite windy, and it’s only supposed to get worse. The cats are not happy.

Not much on tap for the weekend. Have to pack at some point, but that won’t take long. Leaving for Portland on Monday. It’s only scheduled as a five-night trip, though I just learned today that the client may extend the contract. If they do, I’ll take it!

I genuinely hope your MIL listened to - and remembers - what her O.T. sez.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It is raining.
