(Old) Silly Songs In The MMP

Initial indications were good. When I was going back to bed, she asked who she should call for if she needed help. Near as I can tell, she didn’t need anything till around 4 this morning so I got close to 7 hours of much-needed sleep. I’m feeling almost normal after a very disoriented yesterday.

LOVE IT!! And concur with the various statements made. And being the overly practical self that I am, I have been wracking my brain to figure out what I could do with it besides put it on a shelf. When finished, it’ll be too pretty to shove in a closet, but it’s overly large to be a candy dish, isn’t it? Regardless, I’m impressed!

Talk of reconnecting with teachers has unearthed a big regret. Some years back, I found where my favorite French teacher was living - not too far from my mom, in fact. I kept thinking I should drop him a line, hoping he’d remember me after decades. But I never did, then I saw his obituary. Dammit.

There are two others I’d love to find, but with last names of Miller and Wilson, there ain’t no way. Especially since I have no idea if they remained in Baltimore. But even if they’re still alive, I wouldn’t expect either to remember a quiet student they had in the late 60s/early 70s. Oh well.

Shame on you!!! Shame Shame Shame!!! (Wish I’d said that!)

Much rain overnight, forecast to last till late afternoon. I’m going to dash to Food Lion for a few things, but other than that, it’s a good day to hibernate.

I made the mistake the other day of congratulating myself (not out loud) for beating our finances into submission and having a few extra bucks to tuck into savings. I should never taunt the financial universe - FCD needs about $4K in dental work. Dammit. He’s got a fractured molar that needs to be replaced with an implant. At least we’ve got money in savings to cover it, but that was supposed to be our boat fund. Dammit.

At least I have my own dental appointment to look forward to on Moanday. Of all the various issues I have, teeth ain’t among them. I’ll get xrays, a cleaning, and be on my way. So I got that going for me.

Happy Saturday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 54 Amurrkin out and waaaaaay foggy with a predicted high of 72 and maybe some rain later on in the day. Fine by us as we have nowhere we want or need to be today. High sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, and day drinkin’ shall be had. Sup shall be burgers 'n fries, just cause.

Last night went well. A good crowd of folk showed up and the food was plentiful. It was rainy(ish) out so we set up a makeshift “tent” out on the covered patio just off the kitchen for fish fryin’ purposes. It worked well especially since it got kinda windy and the tarps we hung up kept the wind pretty much out of the area. Anywho a good time was had by all. I have some pics, but last night could not get 'em transfered from my iphone. I am pretty sure it was a combo of, well, not real smart me and tiredness, so will attempt again in a while.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

FCM,
Thank you! I live to be funny and am always looking to ad lib. Glad its appreciated.
You don’t have problems with your teeth. Whats that like?

Well, it’s better than the astigmatism, the arthritis, the bursitis, the thinning hair, the memory lapses… I think we’re all entitled to at least one working system.

And I think I’ll grab a quick shower and run to the store while the household is still abed.

Whenever I’m feeling whiny, I just take a ride in one of the elevators. Seeing what others are having to cope with usually makes me feel pretty fortunate. Yeah, I have some issues - mostly mitigated by meds - but at least I’m upright and mobile.

Made some scallops last night, which were a disaster. The house still stinks of burned garlic and fish. At least the rice was edible. I’ll try not to screw up the oatmeal this morning.

Mornin’ all. It’s about 8am as I start this drivel. We’ve been at sea about 14 hours. One of the Bahama islands is sliding by outside the windows. The usual scattered cumulus puffies here and there, a couple with rain falling out. It’s about 75/24 out there and it must be breezy; there are a few whitecaps on the otherwise smooth sea.

Lots of stuff in my world in the 24 hours since my last post. And about 40 of y’alls to read & comment on

As to me …

Finally had my first meeting w the shrink. Nice 60-ish lady on the faculty of the local med school. As I had expected, her expectations from my chart did not accord with the person across the table from her. She warned against impulsive or daredevil behavior and we’ll meet again a few more times as long as I find it useful.

Picked up my mail & Amazons so there’s not too much backlog when I return, then home to await the Uber to the train in an hour or so. Ahhh, calm serenity on a warm spring day.

About 20 minutes before the expected time I realized my phone had somehow gotten disconnected from the outside world. No text, no voice calls, no network. Evidently there’s a bit of dead spot in that part of the house or T-Mobile was have tower problems just then. Cue mad flail to reboot phone, reconnect cellular, prove it all works, etc. Meanwhile afraid the driver has come and gone early. Finally get all the computers happily chatting with one another and lo and behold, the driver is 5 minutes out and 10 minutes early. Fortunately my stuff was fully ready to go, so after a careful inventory I went out to the curb and off we went.

Train was 10 minutes late, but time passes easily in the premium lounge. They made up most of that time enroute which meant my Uber at the destination was willing to wait those couple of minutes. Whew.

Got settled on the boat. My balcony is nice, but not sure how much use it’ll get. Then we had solos meet n greet, the all-hands set-sail party with free cheap champagne, and then it was time for a nice dinner with a dozen new solo friends. Napa cabbage-wrapped snapper over orzo in a tasty broth, a fancy salad w avocados, and a dessert of a cinnamon poached pear in a puddle of vanilla yogurt sauce under a hat of filo dough with a light sprinkle of powdered sugar. And suitable libations for each course.

Then it was time for a nap, and up again at 10:30pm for the PJ party. This time I was fully prepared and had my red satin PJs at the ready. The party was held outside on the back porch of the ship. Dance music cranking, bar pouring quickly, two- to three-hundred people drinking, dancing, or hanging out / making out on the big soft upholstered thingies. Like last time, there were a number of … extroverted … PJ choices. But between the late night cool and the significant breeze, lotta folks had a sweatshirt on over their outfit. My concession to warmth was a long sleeve t-shirt hidden under my PJ top. And sox. Bright red of course.

Despite diligent searching the only other solo I found was a ~30 single woman from New Brunswick. She had conventional satin PJs in black and cute sandals with a pink bow. She had sat across from me at dinner. So we danced and yakked until she got tired. About midnight-30 she called it quits, having been up since 4am. I lasted another hour 'til the party quit, then off to bed myself.

Up early, sheveled, and caffeinated. Breakfast next. Another meet up in a couple hours.

As to y’all, and this won’t be comprehensive. …

That’s real pro quality work. As befits a pro like yourself. My hat’s off to your craftsmanship. Both your first prototype and the second more complete one you posted later in the thread.

The businessman in me says that is far too nice a one-time-use product to produce and sell profitably. To make a few for yourself, friends and family, sure. But they won’t sell except at a loss. Folks are looking for cheap disposable cardboard stuff, not durable craftsman quality.

Well they’re both forms of train, so maybe you can find a place where AMTRAK does loop-de-loops.

Dammit Shoe you’re not supposed to get sick. You’ve got enough crap on your plate already. Stoopit manager coming in sick.

Well said. Damn shame it needed to be said, but them’s the facts. Here’s hoping MIL can adapt to accepting your help whenever she’s upright. ETA: sounds like she’s trying, which is the necessary first step. Good luck for sure!

After your week that sounds like just the ticket.

Like the old saying: “There are two sets of people who don’t have sex; your parents and your children.”

Both of those things are excellent. A manager that thinks of you is the best.

Mo bebehs, mo bettah!

Great wisdom there.

Good morning!

It’s 37 degrees Fahrenheit at the moment. We’re supposed to have periods of rain, snow, or rain/snow mixing this morning, but by afternoon, the precip will change to rain showers. The expected high temperature is going to be 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

FCM, I hope what the OT said sticks. I’m glad you got some rest overnight, too. Being sleep-deprived is neither easy nor healthy.

Wheelie, congrats on the new addition to the family! I meant to mention that yesterday. She’s a cutie!

VanGo, that is beautiful work!

shoe, I’m sorry that you’re still sick. It’s doubly hard to be ill and work in a job requiring so much interaction. I hope you get better STAT!

spicy, I hope you and the family are also better soonest.

The trip down to my son’s place has been moved to most likely next weekend. My son has had a grueling week, and so have I. I’m glad to stay here and not worry about the pups messing up there. Additionally, I’m definitely fighting something off, so it’ll be better not to spread my germs around anyway.

missred, I hope little Nelson is doing better today.

Work was work and lots of it. I’m glad it’s the weekend and I’m going to do my damndest to NOT look at my work computer today.

I don’t have any plans today other than perhaps tidying around the house. I should run the rollsuck and the pups need a bath. I’m not sure we’ll get to the bath, but I need to vacuum. With Polar, it was apparent that I needed to do that because his tufts of white fur would start gathering in the corners or under tables. I could have just vacuumed, and there would be more. He was a walking fur drift. With the pups, their hair is black and fine, and you don’t see large tufts. I know they’re shedding though because the lint trap in the dryer is full of black hair from them after I wash their blankets.

Okay, it’s time to deal with the pups and finish loading the dishwasher so I can run it. I didn’t load it last night because I was became lump on the sofa. The pen barely contains the pups anymore, and if Buster wanted to, he could break out of there quickly. I leave it up because sometimes I need a minute to finish things without the pups’ “assistance.” It’s very difficult to load a dishwasher when they’re trying to remove flatware to provide “extra cleaning”.

Everyone take care.

Soggy soggy soggy out there, but I made it to Food Lion and back without incident. Groceries are stowed and I’m caffeinating.

MIL continues to lose weight - under 88# this morning and down from 95# in 2 weeks. Not good. I gave her a sugary turnover for breakfast with extra half-and-half in her coffee. She just doesn’t have much of an appetite and she hates those high calorie protein drinks.

I need to empty the dishwasher eventually. I hope to find some motivation…

A lot of protein drinks are subpar.
I enjoy the Atkins ones, 1 gram of sugar, 15 protein. Dark Chocolate Royale ( or as they say in France, royale with chocolate, ha). But the coffee flavored one tastes exactly like Kaopectate.

Beautiful! They could be handed down with stories of the day that turned to night.

My staycation came to an end yesterday, I went back to work and cleared desk and emails, general office keeping.

Around 3 o’clock I started coughing. I wondered what was kicking up my asthma (I have coughing variant) used inhalers, got home, coughing got worse.

Woke up this morning, and whoa, did anyone get the number of the truck that rolled over my bed, and why do I feel hot? Temp was 98, and Covid test positive. Argh!

Lager has an upset tummy, so we both will cuddle in and keep misery company.

Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and back to work on the album after KP.

Nelson is putting full weight on his sore leg this morning, but not running or jumping. I did give him another peanut butter taco with carprofen and he’s moved his studio bed right next to me, so he’ll get some extra babying today. He did eat his Saturday morning scrambled egg with no leftovers, so his appetite is good. He also socialized with the poodles next door when we went out this morning, but obviously didn’t run with Sully (he did stand up to give Sugar some face kisses though <3 )

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. Got up and decided to do something wild and crazy so I got dressed before 7am and went to Eggs Up for breakfast (hey, for me, that qualifies for wild and crazy). Buttermilk pancakes, bacon and OJ and my fast has been well-broken. Will take it easy for a bit, may head over to the gym later, but we’ll see. 50F outside but still feels cold and wet, albeit by tomorrow it is suppose to get to 75F with plenty of N.O.S.

red, glad Nelson is doing better, give him a couple cuddles from me.

Pilot, enjoy the cruising. And if an AMTRAK could do loops, I would ride it.

Swampy, glad the frying went well, will look forward to the pics.

FCM, sorry to hear about FCD’s problems; like you, my teeth have been pretty well-behaved the past few decades. But it’s a river-full of beavers there, isn’t it? ( One dam thing after another. And I graduated HS in 1971, so doubt if many of my teachers (even if I remembered their names) are still around.

shoe, nice pictures of the littles. Keep them well-fed. And your manager is a one in a million type.

And to all the MMP sickies, GET WELL SOON–THAT’S AN ORDER!!!

Wheelie, safe travels to the west.

OK, need to get back at working on my sloth skills, y’all have a good Sattiday.

Get her favorite flavor of ice cream and keep it in the fridge, not the freezer. Makes an excellent high calorie beverage. You can even zap it to make it room temp or warm if she’s feeling cold. Which I would expect to start happening soon. {{Hugs}}

I love orange cats!!
Would putting ice cream in the fridge make it go bad?
How about a protein smoothie?

I joined A Certain Orange Cat’s FB page.

How well does milk or cream last in a refrigerator? A week to 10 days. How long do you think a quart of ice cream will last before being eaten/drunk by a hungry person who likes the flavor?

No, ice cream won’t keep indefinitely in the fridge like it does in a freezer. But it’ll keep as well as any other fresh milk product.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 4c/39f with a predicted high of 5c/41f, with rain showers. Weather app says “This is the perfect fucking weather to let your dog go outside and fucking roll in some shit and dead worms.” I’m glad I don’t have a dog!

Last night’s trip home was bedevilled by “stuff” causing delays in all directions. I was home later than I wanted to be, so it was a bit of a rush to get fed and re-sheveled before we went out to see Trucker Diablo at our local rock pub. We made it home shortly after 1am, and stayed up a bit longer with tea and toast.

Late start this morning, but my weekend of sloth has not worked out quite as planned! I did not get up early though, that’s a good start. I’ve been into town, had lunch at the Good Chinese Place, bought a rain jacket for emergencies, booked some train tickets for a girlie weekend next month, and am about to have a look at some stuff to do when we’re on holiday.

We had a brief discussion and decided we need to venture out again tomorrow. 'im indoors says his suitcase is nearing the end of its usefulness so we are off to the big suitcase shop tomorrow, and since we are out and about, we will stop off somewhere for lunch and also visit the Big Supermarket brother of the one we usually to go. Thus there will be some slothage today and tomorrow, but not as much as I’d originally intended!

Moooom I hope the OT has made MIL realise that she does need to rely on you to help her in the night.

VanGo lovely bits of woodwork! I agree with the others, putting a date on them and your name on the back would be a great idea.

shoe nice little ratty pics!

red sorry to hear Nelson injured himself, hopefully the cuddles will help.

Hope all you sickies feel better soon!

JtC no change with the fosterlings, I think they secretly knew when they got here that they’d be staying. Di at Little Paws was quite sure we’d already adopted them anyway  They’ve made themselves quite at home, and look quite settled even though they are still a bit skittish at times. The fun part will be getting them in a carrier and to the vet for their vaccinations so they can finally go outside into the garden. I’m putting that off at least until after our trip because we need to take them for two lots of jabs, a fortnight apart, and that’s pushing it between now and 20th March.

Right…done everything here that I need to do, I am due some sofa time with Shadow before I have to stir my stumps and make dinner. Chicken curry tonight

Just texted Sweet Manager to see if there was any chance in hell someone could close for me so I can leave by ten or 11 instead of 2 a.m.

Stay 'tooned, and wish me luck!

Luck!
