(Old) Silly Songs In The MMP

Oh, one last thing before I go make a shoe-shaped dent in my pillow: guess who showed up.

Old New Guy!! Apparently the other day, Sweet Manager simply sent him home because he showed up late.

Today he did the same - this was basically his absolute last chance - but she had a write-up already waiting.

Plus hw promptly signed the damn thing, so even if he were the type, he can’t draw unemployment, since he admitted in writing to problem behavior. (He’d also helped himself to a ridiculous amount of food, including taking some home which is technically a no-no, which was included in the write-up.)

Now he’s ferrealz gone. But when he came in the door and nonchalantly tried to clock in like it was N.B.D. I’m sure I made exactly this face: :open_mouth:

That’s the kind of situation where it’s great to not be the boss. You can watch the train wreck without having to be a conductor.

This is my song for cleaning the shower, especially for deep-cleaning. Haven’t used Comet in more than 2 decades, but I still remember the tune.

No eye rolling here.

Isn’t going on and on was the point of this place? I read every word of the weekly MMP, even if I don’t post much. This is a friendly group and it’s nice to hear from everyone. You (all of you) keep posting, I’ll keep reading. Deal?

Boofae, I was wondering if I had missed an announcement, because they have seemed to be settling in. Congratulations on the foster fail!

Such a cutie-patootie!

This is great news!

:laughing:I know some candidates for the committee. Might be a rather large committee.

Almost a dad joke. I think it’s the same with dads and recliners. Probably need to put my pillows in the wash, which certainly helps with the fluffiness and dust. Something for next weekend.

Another Rees. Very nice work. I don’t think I have the patience and skill for that kind of work, so I’m super impressed for those who do.

Wow! Such fun. I really like his noodly appendage.

I had the misfortune of being bitten by the neighbor’s standard poodle. And got blamed for bothering the dog. After he bit another child and the mail man, he got put down.

I would be worried that she get tangled up in it. But doors do seem to be a problem. {{{FCM, FCD and FCMIL}}}

I think others have already given good suggestions, so I only have compliments to give. Nice work!

:slightly_frowning_face: Covid is really the gift that keeps on giving. Hope your case is mild and both you and Lager are soon on the mend.

Hope you’re back up and running soon. It’s hard to believe that we used to go home and watch whatever the local channels were showing, read a paper newspaper and have to go to a library to get books.

They make my husband cough, so we’ve stopped using them. We’ve discussed getting some LED lighting for atmosphere, either fake candles or a string, but haven’t decide which.

Now that’s a GOOD breakfast. Sounds like a really nice way to spend an extended Saturday morning.

Yesterday was hair cut and grocery shopping, plus a long walk. It’s so warm, neither hubby nor I wore jackets. Weather’s weird.

Today I’m making pasta e fagioli, blueberry cake and maybe a cheesecake. I had picked up a strawberry cheesecake mix, which is convenient just for the crust.

Today is another sunny day, so we’re going to the big train station to renew our yearly ticket and stop at the transport museum, as they have Easter candy. What is the connection between chocolate and transport? Not sure, but I’m happy to get specialty chocolate which we can’t get anywhere else. And we’re members of the museum, so we can wander around and see what’s new without having to buy tickets.

Then there’s the laundry. Seems to be unending. But that’s life.

We donated our futon sofa bed on Wednesday, so that room suddenly has a lot more space, but less horizontal storage. So there’s some stuff to be rearranged. Somehow I prefer to do organizational work when it’s sunny outside. If it’s rainy, I just want to sit on the couch and vege. Time to get active.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 59 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a DENSE FOG ADVISORY in effect until ten a.m. and with a predicted high of 75 and mostly cloudy for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization (I get to plop in a pew) followed by first Sunday brunch. Then it will be back to da cave for nappage and high sloth the rest of the day.

Wheelie I am proud of y’all! That is day drinkin’ in its highest form.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

I dreamed that I woke up, and felt Monkey snuggling against my leg. Reached down for the pettin’ and discovered … some completely unfamiliar cat on my bed, brown and white with fluffy fur.

Then went on to have other dreams, then eventually woke up ferrealz, quite confused.

(Monkey was snoozing in my chair when I got up!)

I can hear geese honking from the skies above my home.

Last week, I accidentally dated a check to my daughter as 2023 - it cleared just fine. Then again, whoever issued it to you may not honor it - you might call.

I have to admit, sometimes I skim. I may be in a hurry or mentally fried or just going thru the motions. On the other hand, I have been known to go back the next day to read older posts. And I truly expect many of you skip my tales of woe, which is fine. Even tho you should be fascinated by my life, I understand… truly I do.

Don’t you know you should never express such a thing - it’s taunting the universe and ensuring you’ll be drafted into doing something… some people never learn.

I over-caffeinated myself yesterday, so I had a tough time falling asleep. Stoopit short night. Woke to cat hork in the kitchen (at least on easy-to-clean surfaces) and after I tended the critters and fed my face, I helped MIL to the bathroom and back. Her weight jumped 2# since yesterday, which could be edema, or not. We’ll see what the scale says tomorrow.

When I let Higgs out, I saw that FCD’s shop door was open. I looked in quickly and didn’t see anything amiss, but he need to go check. I can’t imagine someone breaking in there. Hope he just didn’t close the door firmly when he was last out there, whenever that was. And, of course, it’s going to kill the electric bill because it got down to 39° overnight and the lowest his thermostat can be set is 50°. Always something…

Can’t wait to see what the rest of the day brings.

Happy Sunday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today Cleaning, afternoon sloth, and watching Spot watch birds on the agenda. Speaking of which, the boy slept with me last night. You know all those curte pics of people sleeping with their pets? Hogwash:
< stomps back and forth across human thorax >
< pokes human’s eye balls >
< stick paw up human left nostril to catch moving nose hair >
< curls up on human’s chest, slowly slides down, blocking nostril and pinching trachea shut >

“Sir, this is a Wendy’s,”

As long as you don’t poop in a pew.

< Marie Antoinette likes this post >
But yay on feeling better!

Did you get the novelty popcorn bucket?

Hope you’re both feeling better today.

As long as you don’t bruise the gin.

Mornin’ folks. About to dock in Puerto Plata DR. Quite the process in a small bay with a rock-strewn entrance. Modern ships with modern manueverability and computer assistance are a wonderful thing. Not my problem, which is a different kind of wonderful thing.

Yesterday at sea was low-key. Food, drink, sun, and social.

Had a nice Korean dinner akin to last time, but different dishes. All yummy and my dinner mates from rural PA (50-something Dad and Mom plus 30-ish adult daughter and SIL) were surprisingly adventurous eaters and pronounced it all utterly unfamiliar but all good. They’d somehow won the cruise gambling in Atlantic City and had never done anything like this.

Went to bed around 9pm with an alarm set for 11pm to get back up, re-dress, and hit the disco. When the alarm went off I decided I’d rather sleep, so punched it off and rolled over. I was disappointed in me, but it did feel good.

This morning to early afternoon will be a sailing / snorkeling expedition. Seems breezy enough it’ll be a good ride. Late afternoon will be wandering the tourist part of town. Then dinner and the serious late night party of the cruise. So part of why I wimped out last night was to preserve energy for this upcoming night.

As to y’all …

Good luck with the apnea or whatever it is Spicy. It’s one of those hidden debilitators that folks don’t notice they have, they just feel like old and like shit all the time. Once they get cured, it’s a miraculous Fountain of Youth and Vigor.

Aaaaannnd? Good, bad, meh? Do you have to have seen Dune to make sense of 2? I’ve read the books (decades ago) but not seen the first movie. Not looking for a full debrief, but a couple sentences would be much appreciated.

Nellie trikes on sidewalks are common here. They pretty well monopolize the width, but it still works. Not knowing the streets nor drivers wherever the heck you are, not much more can be said.

Sari: the glitches just keep coming. Good luck as you keep soldiering forth.

Coppertone: Yaay for healthy.

Vapo-rub is sometimes recommended as a cheap remedy for toenail fungus. It actually does work on some strains of fungus with far fewer side effects than systemic anti-fungals. BTDT, it worked. There are other anti-fungal creams that work on other fungal strains.

But Vapo-rub on the feet for respiratory issues? Pure BS.

P.S. Your customers are idiots. Or at least you have some idiots amongst your customers.

Yes. A never-ending cavalcade of fun and chores and eat and sleep and chores and eat and fun and sleep and …

Here’s hoping the chocolate at the museum is as good as you expect. And deserve.

He’s not the only proud one. This former Las Vegan (can’t say “Vegan” any more or people think you’re somebody who eats weird) is proud too.

One of my favorite “only in Vegas” wasted days was to go out for Prime Rib and scotch … for breakfast.

Gotta run; still need food and setting up for shore stuff.

Cheers all! Happy Sunday!

So judgemental!

I have a new bucket list item.

Hell, with my current effed-up “sleep” “cycle” it would probably be dinnertime for me anyway.

It’s Sunday, so I’m channeling my inner church Lady

Got to try that. I’ve done PBR and scrambled eggs before when I worked third shift.

Now I can’t get this idea out of my head. (Apparently, my brain really wants a hunk o’cow.)

But man … I’ve been one of the seen some rough-looking individuals squinting in the sunlight at the corner store scrounging through pockets for quarters.

I can’t imagine how battered the scotch-for-breakfast crowd in Sin City must look.

HA! Auto-correct really wanted ^^ to be “crows”. Which says a lot about my introvert ways, how much I post/read about nature and zoology, and also, possibly, what the ghouls inhibiting L.V. might look like after a night long weekend on the town.

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 37 degrees Fahrenheit and snowing. Light snow will fall off and on this morning, but nothing will stick. This afternoon the snow transitions to rain showers and we’ll have an expected high temp of 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Yesterday, we had crazy amounts of hail where everything was covered, snow, and blinding sunshine. March is definitely entering like a lion cub. We’ll see how she exits.

Other than washing the dog blankets and cleaning up the kitchen I was pretty much in sloth mode all day with bursts of “What do you have in your mouth?!?”, jumping up to retrieve said item, “Get DOWN!” and running to the kitchen to get the dogs aways from the counters, and going outside to pick up poo.

Today I’ll wash regular laundry, to include sheets and towels, scrub the bathroom in the master suite, and various other chores. I’m debating going into the office tomorrow since I need to go in on Tuesday to activate my LincPass. If I go in tomorrow too, that means I won’t have to go in on Wednesday, and, the other bonus is that there is less traffic on Mondays. I’ll probably go to the office tomorrow, so I must fill up the Jeep today. She’s a thirsty gal and those 80 mile round trips eat fuel.

I plan to enjoy my last cup of coffee before loading the last dishes in the dishwasher and running it. I rarely run it after dinner because my husband dirties a bunch of dishes after dinner, and I can’t stand looking at them in the sink all day. So, I wait until the morning.

Okay, the pups are trying to escape their pen. So it’s time for them to potty again. I just fed them breakfast too, so I’ll need to devote some attention to them before I start my chores.

FCM, I send my continued hugs to you and the family.

nellie, I hope your tummy is doing better today. I’m a veteran of stomach woes and multiple days of stomach woes is exhausting.

The scotch for breakfast crowd buying a mini or two at a raggedy convenience market can be pretty rough. As in world-class rough.

The ones at the nicer hotels even showered and shaved before coming down for “breakfast”. They might be almost as dissipated but they smell & look a LOT better.

As to your odd schedule, the point of course is to make the prime rib and scotch the first meal of your (soon to be wasted) awake period. In your case that coincides with everyone else’s dinnertime. So you won’t be doing your thing amongst the scruffies.

Forgot to mention …

Last night the dinner buffet (that feeds only a small fraction of the ship; most folks eat dinner in the fancy restaurants) was featuring prime rib & roasted root veg as one of their several mains. So after I finished my Korean dinner I stopped by and had a slice of PR and the veg. Darn nice. It was either that or another drink and I was still harboring illusions of sleeping my 2 hours then getting up to dance for another 3. So the PR seemed the wiser choice.

Daughter is bringing her spawn over to run amok after being stuck inside all day yesterday. Of course, after I’d cleaned the fireplace for the season… no biggie, tho. I have wood ready ti light when they’re on the way.

MIL just woke again so I need to help her up.

Yet here it’s already hitting 50 and supposedly gonna be in the low 60s (!!!) next coupla days. Bright-ass sunshine, too.

Spring. Is. Coming. And behind it … summer. { whimper }

Already took my agave & lemon back outside. I had a few spring gardening ideas and it looks like I can’t back-burner the planning stage much longer.

Also need to replace the magnetic screen “door” that Monkey absolutely shredded, for my side door, so I can leave it open for a nice breeze (and to let him go in&out&in&out) while still blocking at least some of the flies.

I have the new door thingie; I just hafta remove the entire old one - cue stepstool on concrete steps while living alone - and get the frame for the new one set up.

Meanwhile, my side door looks like entrance to the set of a bad zombie movie - yanno, the kind with ominous rooms filled with random overturned or mangled items, and one flickering light bulb?

Okay, no flickering bulb here, but the snows knocked over some stuff outside, there’s more branches down in the yard, and seriously, the existing screen looks kinda terrifying, as if a large man-eating predator came through.

… hmmm, maybe I’ll keep it, as is, to deter would-be burglars?

Double-sided tape and/or aluminum foil sheets are traditional ways of attempting to keep cats off counters or other surfaces we silly hyoomans decided we don’t want them to go.

Would those help you deal with your pups going where they ought not to go?

Okay, my appetite is roaring back - a sure sign of impending healing - and in lieu of rare prime rib roast :face_holding_back_tears: I shall scramble a coupla eggs. Haven’t even done that in a while.

Plus, there’s a “peanut butter” thread over in Cafe that’s givin’ me ideas …

Didn’t know there was one. In any case, I didn’t buy any popcorn. Mrs. L.A. bought a medium-size for herself.

Good. It was nice to see it on the big screen. I did have to make head call after a couple of hours. The movie is almost three hours long. I would recommend seeing the first half. I mean, it took me three attempts to get through the book a few decades ago. With all of the intrigue it’s like a Roman epic. It’s good to know who all the players are. Do you have to see the first half to make sense of the second? I don’t know. I went in having read the book (a long time ago), having seen the 1984 movie multiple times, and having seen the 2021 movie three times; so I knew who the players were.

Morning all. Up early and as I mentioned yesterday, made the run down to the Krispy Kreme place and picked up six glazed donuts, which true to form have been promptly been inhaled and are assimilating in my belly. Dishwasher is running it’s cycle and Sunday NY Times has been acquired. Those were my major projects for the day, may go to the gym a bit later as penance for those many calories and sugar rush (but I regret nothing). It’s 55F and while it’s supposed to reach 72F later today, clouds are in the forecast for all afternoon, so a gloomy-looking day is in store.

Spicy, not breathing is considered a bad thing and I hope you don’t do that anymore. Best get that checked out. And ‘perfect equanimity’ and ;‘having a 3 year old child’ are two terms that will never go together perfectly. Hoped you enjoyed the steak and enlightenment.

red, did think about a bike, even looked at some of them, but really not into it that much, will look more at the adult trikes, though. And ouch on the pothole; not to many here, but I can remember some from up North that could eat cars.

JtC, so the bats made GG batty? Still, I admit I’m a bit jealous, would love to see that.

nellie, hope you get feeling better.

Sari, no one ever catches up; we all do the best we can and move along. You’re doing fine. Hope the internet stays on this time and the check clears. Good news on the little pupper, hope his legs recover soon.

Coppertone, yeah! on feeling better.

shoe, much thanks for the stories and Vicks on the feet don’t sound right to me either. And yeah, management was something I never strove for. Given my experience I probably could have gone after and go a branch chief job when I was working, but didn’t need the hassle of being responsible for 12-18 people and doing ‘performance evaluations’ every year tor them.

Wheelie, sounds like a lovely day with your wife. And that’s pretty good wind–no hats being worn, I reckon.

FCM, I still use Comet and I still remember than song when I use it. Gues some things are universal.

doggio. explain to me again why we own cats (or at least grant them co-habitation)?

Pilot, enjoy the excursion and hope you survive the evening activities.

Taters, you make a pretty good puppy-butler, hang in there.

OK all, need to do the Sunday Internettin’ so take care and I’ll try to catch up later in the day.

Thank you! He’s about 95% better now. He’s still taking it a little easy, but back to playing, running and even some jumping. Glad Cosmo is on the mend.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, trash out and fixing to do KP and irkweek meal prep. Not much on the agenda except the finishing touches on the album.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I changed the sheets, fluffed the pillows in the dryer, and flipped the matress, without any feline assistance. I guess Spot was too tired after being up allnight being the living embodiment of TVCTPMO. I had a banana, kiwi, and orange for breakfast.

I was asking myself that at 0430. But they are just cute and fuzzy enough to forgive them being sociopathic chaos generators 95% of the time.

Well, what they intended was a novelty sandworm topper. What they made was the Shai Hulud Fleshlight.

What are you, a fruit bat?

What. The. Unholy. Fuck.

… someone, in some corporate office, looked at a prototype and went, “Yup!”
