Fcm, such a difficult time for everyone one. 3 pats of consolation.
Dogsbutler, happy cake day!
This morning we have rain. Nothing like what went on in the Midwest, just high winds and rain.
I slept on the couch last night as I didn’t want to put the new mattress down until i dealt with the gator area in the bedroom.
I scraped a big area this morning. The good news with that is it will be easer to spackle/ skim coat. The first coat is on. Hopefully the rain will not slow the drying. As soon as I’m done with this bit I will breakout the new mattress!
I am truly happy for your transformation. Still, I hope you choose to follow through with your therapy sessions anyway, and take them seriously.
At the risk of overstepping, I do sense that you’re carrying a good deal of… residual malignity toward HL. Even if you’re feeling great right now, a guiding hand to help you process what you’ve been through may be welcome. Just sayin’.
As to me, not much going on at Casa de Wheelz this week. Mrs W is on one of her cleaning frenzies, so I’m staying out of her way. Been working on my AI gig 5 or 6 hours a day, which is good for the bank account until I can get back out making real money.
Looks like I’m in for a chilly and rainy week in Portland next week. Ah, well, I won’t need to be outside much anyway.
A bluebird day in MSP, with a warming trend after that wild meteorological swing over the last 24 hours. Breakfast burritos today, then exercise class with a temporary leader, since our regular is recovering from knee replacement. She’s good, but she pronounces ‘purse’ like ‘pierce’, as in “pierce your lips”. I know this is a pronunciation from a particular part of the country, but can’t remember where. This is all it takes to annoy me these days, I guess.
Heading out to the Arboretum tomorrow, as they put on an interior springtime flower show. I’m fine with it, as long as we don’t have lunch there; worst food since boot camp.
I think dinner will be orzo accompanied by hot dogs. Real gore-met cookin’.
cookie I’m getting the wild weather here today. Currently 60 f now, super windy and heading for 15 overnight. My knee is telling me that the weather guessers have it correct.
I’m done with stuff at the school for a couple of weeks. I built things too fast. And I’m out of approved hours.
JtC I did make a prototype eclipse viewer thingy. If it ever gets sunny again I can test to see if it works.
I thought that we’d be lovers And play beneath the covers And then she cut a fart We were engaged in cunnilingus How could she do a thing like this? How could she cut a fart?
My tongue was down there turning When my eyes started burning And I could scarcely breath The odour from her anus Was something rather heinous I thought that I would heave
About the legality of the waiver…This article from the Seattle Times explains it better than I could:
Courts have mostly sided with businesses and upheld class-action waivers, Feldman said. But last fall, a division of the Washington Court of Appeals sided with a Domino’s Pizza semitruck driver in Kent who filed a lawsuit against the company seeking class-action status even though he had signed an arbitration agreement with a class-action waiver when he started his job.
The court found the agreement unenforceable because it “frustrates our state’s public policy of protecting workers’ rights to undertake collective actions and ensure the proper payment of wages.”
That decision signals that some courts in Washington might be more willing to throw out class-action waivers than courts in other states or the U.S. Supreme Court, Feldman said. It is “highly suggestive about what the courts in Washington may do [on] this issue,” Feldman said.
“If I were a plaintiff’s class-action lawyer and a group of tenants came to me and asked me about this, I would tell them … the law in this area in Washington is unclear,” he said.
This is one reason the software manufacturer that enables the price-fixing that’s the reason for lawsuits is also a defendant in the suit. The waiver won’t let me joing a class action suit against the corporate landlord but doesn’t protect the software company.
These are the same corporations, by the way, that have snapped up a big percentage of single-family houses and ratcheted up prices. Bastardi.
The corporate overlords landlords use Rent Cafe. It supposedly imported our old usernames and passwords from the previous landlord’s portal, but it didn’t recognize our passwords and threw a bunch of us into an infinite cycle of click here-invalid link. They finally gave me a temporary password with no info on how temporary or what happens next. The TL;DR: They probably screwed up and might, with a stern FCM look, add the CU later.
Because she just can’t change from her “I don’t want to bother anyone” ways? It’s what kept my mom lying on her bathroom floor for four hours without pressing her life alert pendant. It must be hard to sleep through the night if you have to have one ear listening for her.
Happy Doperversary, Doggio!
I’m gobsmacked that there are people making a living moving saguaro cacti. Who decorated Bob?
The sky has opened, the temps are dropping, the weekend doesn’t look particularly pleasant, weather-wise. It’s nice to live indoors.
I just built our supper casserole and popped in into the oven. When the timer beeps, I top it with breadcrumbs and cheese and give it 15 more minutes. And that’s when I’ll put the broccoli in the steamer and get it going. I’s stahvink! Can I last 90 minutes??
I’m about to have lunch. I decided on a ‘classic’ burger: No cheese, no mayo. Just catsup, yellow mustard, and pickles. I’ve never preferred burgers made this way, but I thought I’d try a homemade one.
I am on lunch break as well. Chicken finger, Mac and cheese w/ bacon, peas, and corn, challah, and crème soda.
Should y’all ever want a full body workout, try unboxing/ unwinding/ wrestling a mattress. Whew! That was a work out. Getting it into a bag is sooooo much easier than getting it out of a bag.

12 miles west of the White House it’s currently rainy and 61°F, with a bit of breeze that will become a “high wind” warning in a few hours. I’m always super grateful when it isn’t freezing cold/snowing outside, but it’s definitely a good day to remain inside (or, as FCM wrote while I was drafting this, “It’s nice to live indoors.”).
I have the third and final volunteer-related evening meeting of the week tonight, but it’s for the committee that I chair: so, even though I’ll have to be on camera it won’t be painful (and it will be quick). At least, it won’t be painful for me.
I’ve always had a bit of a gadet problem (I have two newer iPads, a newer Kindle, etc.), but for some reason I tend to hang onto phones and my Pixel 3 is now 4.5 years old. Google stopped pushing updates to it a year or two ago. An upgrade has been on my to-do list for a while, and this morning I finally pulled the trigger: a Pixel 8 should be delivered tomorrow. NEW TOY! I paid an extra $3 for overnight shipping because tomorrow evening is when I’ll have the most time in the next few days to set it up and play around with it (plus, for a fraction of the cost of the phone why not get it sooner??). I’m ridiculously happy about this, and will be looking out my home office window all day for the delivery truck.
AND, my personal trainer did forget about the body composition scan he’d threatened mentioned last week. *phew!* I’m seeing him again both Friday evening and Saturday morning, but if he didn’t mention it last night I think it’ll stay off the table for a while…I’m in no hurry to remind him!
Exactamundo! Part of the fun of all of this is definitely just remembering that I can still feel this way…I find myself humming “You Make Me Feel So Young” (alternating with “Mrs. Robinson,” even though 10 years isn’t a huge deal at our ages). I’ll admit that the whole thing is also a bit of temporary inspiration for working out/eating a little better: while struggling to finish a particularly challenging set last night, I thought about Cute Fellow Volunteer and found some strength!
(Both in terms of wanting to look as good as I can and being inspired by him: dude is a gen-you-wine military hero who, while responding to a plane crash, carried a surviving pilot through the jungle for nearly an hour. That’s some crazy good “if he can do that…” inspo.)
That’s it: time to put a bell around her neck the next time she’s sleeping!
Catchin’ up to y’all. I might have some playback on my day tonight or for sure tomorrow morning. In a nutshell, all good.
Wetone: Ursula seems quite unperturbed. As befits Royalty ensconced in her palace surrounded by foot-persons. Glad it didn’t get any more exciting at your house.
It was on sale? Of course it was. I’m sorry you’re all riding this wave of end-of-life heartache. May it go as well as a human ending can. Monster {{Hugs}} to all.
Shoe, I have no experience with acupuncture, but that’s an amazing and encouraging report.
I will be forthcoming with her, and there may be some reason to continue beyond visit #1. Especially since any prepwork she did off my earlier memory/psych eval reports set her up to expect somebody very different from who’ll show up. It may take another visit to recalibrate her thinking. But my expectation mostly matches yours, and I’m looking forward to (possible) massive 3rd-party vindication of my decision.
Not really. I was totally catalyzed to say what I did by your example. You led the way; I just followed.
Your point was framed as the bosses screwing her and mine was framed as her screwing herself. Both are true, and the double-barreled approach may work better than either alone; we (any we) never know which ideas will strike home with anyone in our audience.
In any case I wish Taters nothing but serenity and peace at work.
Yaay! The hardest part is deciding which is more important.
No risk there; I welcome all feedback of all sorts from all sources. The MMP is partly a cheerleading party, but it’s also some of the people who know you best leveling with you when they think you’re making big mistakes.
I hold no ill will towards HL. She was about 99% exactly what it said on her label; no bait and switch, rather near total truth in advertising. I have massive disappointment at our failure to connect and by extension disappointment in my own judgment having made the initial error of letting her move in. Over misgivings I had almost from the git-go. is my main emotion. Nothing to do now but move along smartly. As in both “intelligently” and “promptly”. Some learning has been accomplished and more is still on-going.
I suspect is a lot of her emotional state too. To the degree I could ever tell what the Siamese cat was thinking / feeling.
Best of luck surviving cleaning at home and rain in Portland. They’re good at that.
Given your highly adventurous life between then and now, that’s one hell of a comment on some craptacular cooking. OTOH, orzo & weenies sounds kinda fun if doctored up right.
I always enjoyed meetings I chaired far more than being just an active participant or in the silent audience. Makes things move quickly and decisions get made, not talked about. You kick it tonight! I know you will.
Yaay for new phone; they even smell good when they come out of the box! Which brings me to a silly song just for the occasion:
Happy set-up follies to you!!
Happy set-up follies to you!!
Happy set-up follies dear misnommmmerrrrr!!
Happy set-up follies to you-ou-ou!!
Swimming is complete and I solved the Wednesday NY Times crossword, so the old brain and body are still functioning, will shortly fix some dinner to round out the day. Temperature has dropped into the 40’s from near 70F pre-rainstorm, so while not a drastic as some Mumpers, it is cooler than the last couple of days. Supposed to stay cool until Saturday, then back up into the 70’s
.
So say we all.
Wheelie is wise in the ways of the world.
cookie, I read that as Ouzo accompanied by hot dogs, which I thought a bit strange…
flyboy, I liked it!
nellie, You never have to shut up here; we love hearing from you.
FCM, dinner sounds pretty good, And I remember that Comet song from my teenage years! And I still use Comet on a regular basis.
I hear you. One of the two light bulbs above my bed has burned out, but to change it I will have to move my King Size mattress and Box Springs to get the ladder in position and…well, the one working light bulb does well enough with the table lamps…
Oopsie, hope the new toys bring you joy. I tend to the opposite, keeping things until I have to get something else because the old one is so out of date.
OK, need to forage for sustenance and do the evening internettin’ and reading. Take care all.
DH and I just got back from some minor erranding, including buying Buddy a replacement harness. He’s now dressed again, as is Allie (figured if he got to go harness-free for a while, she should too). Popup Clown has fish sandwiches at this time of year, so I got one.
Dunno why, but I was seeing rather higher mask usage than current normal at stores.
