I ran the cleaning cycles on the good ice machine and the coffee maker I napped. I took the liner out of my trench coat, and switched my long sleeve shirts for my Hawaiian shirts, so next week’s blizzard and sub freezing temps are on me. Having a wiscon Old Fashioned, poke loin, baked N.O.T. and Margert Holmes Pepper n’ peas for dinner.

That would be more Passover style.
Redneck Zombies?
Hope the yelling dudes get the sparky stuff flowing again quick.
And a good late afternoon (or early evening) to y’all. Got two out of three missions completed (grass has been mowed and bagged and dinner at Metro Diner got et, but didn’t make ti to the gym as they closed early (4pm) today. Not a problem as mowage gave me some calorie-burning time.
Now need to turn my attention to the Big Trip which will start Wednesday afternoon and last about 3 weeks, so I need to be very sure I take everything I need and turn off or lock up everything I don’t need. One question for my fellow Mumpers; when you take off for a long trip, do you turn off (or set to pilot) your hot water heater or just turn the water off? I’ve never touched the water heater in all my previous trips and have had no problems, but am wondering about it now.
Weather at least is perfect at the moment, the rain and clouds left about 11am and it’s been bright and clear and in the 60’sF so can’t do much better than that.
Flyboy ,
Shoe, Glad (apparently) that no one was hurt. Hope you get some charge out of life real soon…
Mollie, take care of yourself.
Lily, after dinner today I was going to stop for Ice Cream, but they weren’t open yet then I went to my cookie place and it was closed, so no treats for me…
Hippie, happy for the family get-together.
And into the evening hours I go. Still have some catch-up internetting I should be about, so all y’all take care.
OMG did they ever! Speed demon Tobias grabbed his controller and went pedal to the metal! (Or trigger to the, um, max?) They were very excited. I think they enjoyed that more than the egg hunt. But they’ve gone home now - Ah, silence!!
Speaking of the speed demon, I’m constantly reminding him that we don’t run upstairs. When I told him that today, he said “I’m not running - I’m speed-walking!” Little smart-ass!
That’s the only kind I eat. My mom gets me a few rings at her grocery when I remember to ask and they live for a short time in my freezer. Good boiled and even better boiled, sliced, and mixed in a big pot of sauerkraut. Pardon my drool…
We’ve never turned off water or water heater or anything else for that matter. Then again, Daughter or SIL come by to check on things every couple of days - cat box won’t scoop itself, yanno. One time, I did turn off the water to the washer, but that was a single event.
Temps are supposed to drop into the 40s tonight, so windows will be closed. It’s mid-60s already as sunset nears. We’ll be doing some boat chores tomorrow, but the rest of tonight is for chillage. Wish I had some Amaretto…
One of the things I’m enjoying about living in Texas is plentiful, inexpensive, good avocados.
Yikes!
lily, the kittehs are growing up nicely. Skritches!
Hugs. As someone who was out of phone / wifi during Nashville’s Christmas bombing, I sympathize.
Sis and I went to a couple of plant shops in my neighborhood, the farmer’s market and Texas Art Asylum. Neither of spent more than $20 and we came out with beads, jalapeños and beets. I came out with a really cool steel rule die, a stamp set, some purple jute, a couple of grapefruit and beets. Now I’m tuckered.
I just dished up the pintos, cornbread and turnip greens for supper. They’re good.
Easter dinner has been eastened. Eaten. TJ’s bone-in, spiral-cut ham with the included glaze, and a style of potato casserole rather than potatoes au gratin. This is what I ended up doing: Grated three Yukon Gold potatoes with the box grater; made a roux with a tablespoon of butter and flour, added some finely-sliced green onions, some cream cheese, cream, milk, grated Tillamook medium cheddar, grated Parmesan, and a little salt (not quite enough, TBH), added and mixed in the customary sequence, and topped it with more cheddar and parm. I cooked it in a covered 8x5 baking dish alongside the ham. When the time came to glaze the ham. I removed the top from the potatoes and broiled them in the toaster oven while the glaze… glazed.
Howdy Y’all! The service was large and in charge. No incense today as we did that at the Vigil. We got home, changed, et sammiches and proceeded to have two hours worth of nappage. Then sup got fixed and et. We had ice cream cake whilst we watched some more Downton Abbey We wondered if the Dowager Lady Grantham would approve of ice cream cake. Perhaps she would out on the terrace on a sunny Summer afternoon. Oh, the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow.
If your new butcher doesn’t have it, Tagz in Murfreesboro has decent kielbasa for a meat market in the south. I’m a bit spoiled, given that my granddad used to make good kielbasa and I was close enough to South Bend that I could take readily available Polish food for granted.
My last report for this MMP. Was up about 5am CST (Atlanta says I got up at 6) so been 16 hours with no nappage and fairly busy (driving 4.5 hours and mowing the lawn) so should get a good night’s sleep and be ready for the week ahead.
FCM, wonder where he heard that ‘speed-walking’ line…both grandkids are pretty intelligent for their ages. And while my neighbor keeps a general eye on my house, I still am distrustful of my plumbing (even with all the new/improved stuff), so I’ll probably shut it down.
red, sounds like a successful shopping trip.
And that’s all the energy I have for tonight. Catch y’all tomorrow on the new MMP.
My brother in law - who died a year and a few days ago - has sent me a gift from the beyond.
I’ve moved to Florida, into my parents house (mutual care situation) and marijuana is illegal here. I have not smoked in about three weeks. It’s no fun. A few minutes ago I was looking for a sleep mask I thought I’d put on top of my dresser, but it wasn’t there. On a guess, I looked in the drawer of the table next to the bed and what do I find? A bag of THC gummies (only three left, but still) that was originally purchased in Maine. No doubt it was left there by my brother-in-law from his former visit here.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/47f with a predicted high of 14c/57f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “This weather is fucking awesome. Sort of like the perfect fucking fart.”
We have a lot of band t-shirts and tend to wear the same size - they’re unisex which I like as ladies fitted t-shirts never fit me properly! It makes sorting out the laundry quite interesting as it tends to involve us remembering which t-shirts we’ve each worn that week! Gets even more fun if we’ve both worn the same band but different designs
Sounds like a delicious breakfast!
shoe glad you are safe and the leccy men are sorting stuff out for you! I hope the power comes back on soon.
We don’t turn anything off as we have catsitters coming to the house every day. We do turn the heating to its “dormant” setting so that it only comes on if temperatures get really low. Essentially it runs the heating in the house just enough to stop the pipes from freezing.

Busy day for me today, I’m off to the gym to do weight stuff then home for lunch (leftover mac and cheese from yesterday), then we’re doing the grocery shopping, I’ll make tonight’s dinner in the afternoon, then I’m off back to the gym for Cycle Revolution. And home to eat dinner!
Happy Dyngus Day to all the Polish and Polish American folks!
Cookie, that’s a brilliant pic of Sadie’s ear fluff. The swirls of color, lines, and individual hairs almost look like abstract art. Do you have any local photography competitions you could enter?
