Open up the windows in the MMP!

Ah, fresh air!! I love when the temperature and humidity allow for an open house! Nothing like a little breeze ruffling the curtains and the songs of birds wafting in! And sometimes at night, I can hear owls hooting nearby…

What say ye? Do you agree with me or are you hopeless incorrect??

Happy Moanday!

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 56 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 87 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Got a text last night to say that men’s night is bein’ postponed until next week due to prep this week for the big yahd sale the ladies of the church are doin’ this Sattidy. So I guess we grill steaks at da cave tonight. No biggie, just gotta do sallit and N.O.T. here instead of there. Life is just so hard!

We have opened up da cave windows durin’ the mornin’ for the past three days. Been nice but with temps creepin’ to mid to high 80s in the afternoon, the windows get closed and the a/c turned on.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Moanday Y’all!

I love opening the windows and letting fresh air in the house. I open them even in the winter just to air the place out. I’ve slept with the windows open and the fan going for the last several nights, even though overnight temps drop down into the forties.

Sadly, I will have to close the windows when it starts raining because the rain just seems to blow right onto the window and into the house. I already have a couple of damaged windowsills because my son would often forget to shut his window when it rained. It’s nothing that a good sanding and stain can’t fix, but I somehow never get to that particular project.

I spent all day weeding in the backyard again yesterday, plus we had five yards of bark/mulch delivered. I mostly weeded, while my husband put down weed cloth and bark. I helped wrestle the wagon onto a couple of steep areas in the garden and help spread it, but mostly the husband handled the bark. There is still bark to be hauled to the back and spread, but he will have to finish that today. Even though my bin is stuffed full from Saturday’s big bush murder, tree trimming, and weeding out front, I laid a tarp down on the very last portion of my BIG garden (the part no one sees) and started dumping weeds there. I will cover them up with another tarp to cook them down and when the yard bin is emptied, I’ll dump those weeds in there. After I get off work, I’ll help my husband lay down some mulch.

I am part of an interview panel today which is sort of training for the new position that I still don’t have an official start date for because it’s still sitting in suitability. Even though I did my due diligence and filled out the required OF 306 immediately upon receipt, HR waited close to a week to send it to suitability. So annoying. So, they technically have until mid-week this week, but somehow I think it’ll go beyond that.

My husband will receive his first COVID jab today. So, hopefully, he’ll feel okay enough to spread mulch when he gets back. There’s still about 2.5 yards to spread and it needs to get done before the rain moves in this week.

I am soooo ready for vacation, but I still have to get through this month, June and July. I am tired and ready for a break. I take two weeks, none of this namby-pamby week stuff. A week just isn’t enough. I think sometime in the next couple of years, I am going to plan a major trip and take a longer break. I always have a lot of leave. I want to do a three-week break, but we’ll see.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s been nice this morning, and now it’s raining. Weather app says “Nobody is going to the beach today. Well, except for weirdos looking for fucking treasure” and promises me 13C/55F all day, partly cloudy.

I opened the small windows in the bedroom to get some fresh air in which was very welcome. I can’t open any of the larger windows at the moment because fostermog is not yet allowed outside so unless we decide to keep him, he will remain an indoor cat which means not opening windows wide enough that he could get out.

This morning I went to the gym for an early indoor spin class which was great, really enjoyed it and was back home by 7.30am ready to start work. I wanted to book the same one for next week but it’s already fully booked so I am on the waitlist. I’ve got Saturday morning classes booked instead which will have to do.

I’m a huge fan of spin classes, though I haven’t attended one in years and probably wouldn’t walk properly afterward for at least a week.

I love having the windows open - it smells delicious, especially in the spring and early summer, all spicy and green. And I like the wafts of humid air when it’s raining outside because it magnifies the scents.

The weekend was bittersweet. I saw my dad and his wife, which was wonderful, and got to spend time with my sister, also wonderful. Things seemed so normal my sister and I couldn’t figure out why our stepmother was worried. The dementia couldn’t possibly have progressed that far.

But at night it was like a switch flipped. Five o’clock rolled around and my dad was paranoid, afraid and convinced my stepmom was trying to kill him by asking him to take his cholesterol meds. He woke up at 3 a.m. trying to drive to his childhood home. What was worse was when he woke up a few hours later and remembered flashes of what happened and cried from embarrassment. Jesus. You guys remember when you were little and it felt like time stopped when you were sad? And now we’re all adults and you still have to keep functioning, paying bills, cooking meals, cleaning stuff and it sucks?

Ugh, sorry to be all morose. Being an adult just blows sometimes.

So I brainfarted, and got to work an hour early. And a slow day. yay Monday. At least there is hockey tonight. I like opening the windows, and so does Alex Catt. She likes to sing a song at the birbs.

No window screens?

(((((Wordy)))))

Good morning, all. This is my favorite time of year. The weather is pleasant, and the sun comes up early enough I’m not biking in the dark.

My Cherokee Purple tomato plant has three fruits on it, each about the size of a quarter. I see BLTs in my future!

Fang has his last AP exam this afternoon. His High School career is just about done. I feel old. I spoke with his godfather the other day, who started having an existential crisis. I believe the words, “Oh shit, you’ve been married twenty years,” were spoken several times.

I’m taking Spike for his first Pfizer shot today. He’s not looking forward to it, but is looking forward to being able to see his friends again. I need to remember to try to schedule Squeaky’s first shot while I’m there; he turns twelve at the end of the month, and Kroger’s website won’t let me schedule until he’s actually of age.

Oh drat - no more coffee. I’ll have to rectify that.

Morning all. The first windows I had in my house did not have screens, so I seldom if ever opened them. The new ones I got several years ago are screened, but old habits…but with the temperatures supposed to be in the 80F range all this week and no rain predicted, I may just open up the place and let some new air in.

Tomorrow I’m getting my gutters replaced, hopefully it will only take a day to do, the ones I have are 25 years old and probably could stand replacement.

Taters, y’all want to come and put down grass seed in my yard next? And agreed, I always took a 2-week summer vacation and still had use-or-lose hours at the end of the year.

Magic, best wishes on all the shots, and I got a note from my neighbors that their daughter is graduating high school…when did she grow up??

OK, need to make myself presentable and do the Moanday shopping and sammich run, with soccer later in the day. All y’all take care.

Mrs Magill just remembered she picked up some chocolate covered espresso beans for me after her last treatment.

Caffeine achieved!

Just had an unusual experience on YouTube.

I saw they had posted the trailer for the upcoming Hotel Transylvania 4 movie. I decided to watch it.

You know how YouTube puts an ad on before they show you the video? The ad was the trailer for Hotel Transylvania 4.

Today has been windy. I think Piglet and a couple of witches flew by earlier.

We planned to go to the garden store later this week, but those plans are probably toast.

Because we got appointments! Yesterday we signed up with the second location, and got appointments for Wednesday and Thursday this week. Woo hoo!

I worked on Friday, but today I got the payoff, so that’s one big thing off my checklist.

So this week will be extra, extra weird. Looking forward to it.

Happy Monday!

It’s been unusually warm and dry for April/May in the PNW. The lack of rain will likely cause trouble later in the year. But it’s sure purty out. We went to the rhody garden, the tulip garden, and the iris garden. Next week is the peony garden. Our tomatoes are growing like mad, but we’re careful not to plant them in the ground until night temps are consistently above 50F.

My first great-grandchild was born last night to my step-granddaughter. No name has been released as yet. Apparently that has to be a big announcement like all the other over-the-top nonsense associated with reproducing these days. Anyway, mother and baby boy are well after a C-section was needed.

Making a batch of baklava today. Good stuff with overdose amounts of butter involved.

Congratulations!! Healing wishes to your step granddaughter!

I’m glad my daughter and SIL don’t go too silly with the baby announcements. They told us about #2 by giving #1 a t-shirt that said Big Sister. And my daughter had some tests done last week, one of which will tell #2’s sex - she should find out in a couple of weeks, and she’ll just tell us. No explosions here!

Roxy didn’t want to go to the playground, so I just took her directly to her mama’s classroom. I got a text saying after I left, then she wanted to go to the playground. Kids!!! But I was gone, making stops at Food Lion and the credit union. I think tonight’s supper will be salads. But now, I have some touch-up painting to do.

The only open window around Casa Silenus is a half-open bathroom window above the litter box. Otherwise it is central heat/air all the way.

Great-grandkid? Dude, you’re old!

Cloudy, foggy and generally dreary around this part of SoCal this morning, as it has been for the last few days. Saves me from watering the garden, but the peppers won’t kick into high gear until it is consistently in the 80s or higher. My students are entering panic mode as school winds down for the year. NOW they are all in my face about missing assignments. Where were they when the suckers were due?

Stay safe, everybody. Only 4 more days until Friday!

My DIL became pregnant as a teen, apparently. Her daughter is older than most of my actual grandkids by a significant amount. But yeah, I just turned 74 four days ago. :scream:

I took a ‘lunch break’ to mow the lawns, take a shower, and get laundry started.

Now I’ll have a sandwich while I get back to work.

The basement will have 3 different shades of gray on the walls. I didn’t have enough of the lighter gray to finish, so I mixed it with the medium gray and got about half a gallon that’s just a little darker than the lighter gray. I’ve got the last area cut in, and tomorrow, I’ll roll on the first coat. Should be able to get it done before Roxy gets here. Then I can do the second coat after she goes home. All the trim will be painted this weekend. We’re going to have a nice looking rec room down there.

FCD wants a pool table. Guess it’s time to look on Craigslist. I’d be happy with a bumper pool table, but we shall see. For the most part, tho, it’ll be the pay area for the grands.

You gonna charge them a quarter a game?

It’s 81 and sunny outside. We have the window A/Cs installed in their windows, but they’re off. We have the one window that has a screen open, and the front door, that has a screened storm door. We have screens for the other windows, but they’re in the basement waiting to be painted. We’re going back to the valley tomorrow, but when we come back next month I’ll try to get started painting some of them. Our garage sale was only semi successful, but we got rid of a lot of stuff.
We also have a bunch of stuff in the car already for our moving sale back there.

Have a great week!

Windows open here. And I’ve put up the magnetic screen door on the side door. It’s not the best solution, but that’s the only way I’ve figured out to have that door screened and still have the doggie door useable.

They’re calling for 80’s later this week, but still down into the 40’s at night, so in my opinion, almost perfect weather.

Stay safe, all!!
