Open up the windows in the MMP!

Mildly irked that DH’s pharmacy delivery has yet to arrive. He’ll have to contact them when he gets home.

Tired, sore arm, and some mild nausea today. Also sweatier than body temp or room temp really accounts for. Yes, I’m taking tomorrow too. Paid sick time I don’t think I can get zinged for attendance about? Yes, please.

Finally got around to scheduling an eye appointment for Saturday. Really do need those new glasses. I’m probably facing at least bifocals this time around, so trying to figure out if a bifocal newbie would do better with lined or progressive.

Up from nappage, and I did a beer run for the game. Making stir fryied chicken and rice with chipolte bbq sauce, and cheesy broccoli.

Congrats!

OOOOO! We can turn the basement into a dive bar!
< hops in car, heads north >

metal mouse, we’re slated to get What-A-Burger here in the near future. I developed a taste for them in Texas and Florida.

{{{wordy}}} Dementia sucks.

Mazel tov cookie!

I’m with silenus re the windows, except, no catbox / bathroom window. It may begin at 55F in the mornings, but by the time that I get home, it’s in the mid-eighties. My apartment’s heating / AC isn’t programmable.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson, vacuumed and et supper. Go me!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

{{{{wordy}}}}

Encore!

My sister’s first great-grandchild was born while my kids were still pre-teens.

The bedroom window on my side of the bed has pretty much been open for the last three or four years. Did have to close it a few times because rain was coming in, but it’s usually sheltered from such.

Heh. I say it’s snowing. Again.

Howdy Y’all! I needed to go pick up a ‘script from the pharmacy, so, since I was goin’ to be out and about (in appropriate adult attire even) I made a list and braved a trip to :astonished:WallyWorld. :astonished: Then I got back to da cave, put stuff away and achieved nappage, which was needed after bravin’ :astonished:WallyWorld. :astonished: We grilled the steaks and et 'em along with steak fries and sallit. Life is good.

{{{wordy}}} that is no fun at all. Dementia sucks.

cookie congrats on bein’ a great grandpa :older_man:

{{{ wordy }}}. I still remember my dad’s final years and his loss of everything that was Dad. Take care. Like swampy said, it really sucks.

cookie, congrats on great-grandparenthood.

FCM, glad you don’t live in River City, Iowa or you might have trouble…

Seanette, good on the eye Dr. appointment and hope you get to feeling better.

cookie, Happy (belated) birthday! Not sure, but you’re in the running for oldest Mumper posting (swampy, FCM, and I are in our mid-late 60’s)

Dicey, good news on the shot appointments! We’ll get the MMP up to 100% soon!

Nappage this afternoon then soccer practice accomplished, and Mickey D’s provided dinner. All is well and readin’ and internettin’ will occupy the evening hours. Got confirmation that the gutter folks will be here between 8-9am.

All y’all have a good evening.

Today I had an imaginary oncologist appointment. That is, the oncologist is real; the appointment was not. When I copied it from my phone to my paper calendar, I put it on the wrong day. So they’ll see me again tomorrow, lucky people. I went to the gym and did an hour on the treadmill at an incline of 10 and did strength training. I’m still trying to atone for the sins of Mother’s Day weekend and beyond (darn leftovers).

I’m envious of those of you who have central air…or any a/c. All the landlords here say, “Oh, you don’t need it here in the PNW” before heading home to their central air. No window units allowed, and portable units are ungodly expensive and loud. Anyway, I keep windows open at night into November. I like fresh, cool air. I live next to some woods, so I get to hear birds and squirrels, as well as the children in the playground beyond.

wordy, I’m so sorry your dad has dementia. It’s such a cruel disease that’s at least as hard on family as it is on the patient. I hope your dad’s wife gets some respite. It’s emotionally and physically exhausting to live with a dementia patient. I was very worried about my sister when her husband was sundowning. It’s hard on adult children, too, so be kind to yourself. {{{wordy}}}

Congrats, cookie! I won’t live long enough to be a great-gramma, but I think it’s so cool you’re a great-grampa! How wonderful to see that many generations hence. Glad mom and baby are doing well.

Oo! Oo! I’ll bring the neon bar sign. I was thinking of this one: 8 Neon Signs Calling Your Name In Chicago

So, how much are you going to charge them? Hourly or per session?

Around me virtually no one gets lined bifocals anymore since the progressives have matured into being so good. They are much easier to learn to use than are lined bifocals. Now you can even choose progressives with different sized or emphasized ‘sweet spots’, depending on whether you read a lot or spend a large portion of your day looking at computer screens. Read up on the various lenses and plan on asking lots of questions. I’ve worn progressives since I needed reading glasses almost 20 years ago and did fine with them from the very beginning. Less than 2 years ago I got a pair of cut in bifocals because of special needs created by my traumatic brain injury vision but even those have been easy to learn to use and I haven’t minded wearing them even though supposedly they make you look older. Hell, I earned every one of these years.

Bizarrely, I didn’t find you guys today until 9pm my time even though you early birds had been posting since morning and I’d been read da Dope off and on all day. I’ll click on the tracking tab on my way out so the MMP will start showing up at the top of unread threads instead of after my sun has gone down. Not that I ever had much sun in my parts today-plenty of rain and cloud to make the weeds grow. Last 4 days of school here so it’s getting squirrelly.

I’ve had to learn to make sure to look for the new MMP on Moanday, unless someone was kind enough to link to it in the previous one. I also have this problem with the monthly mini-rants.

Until you just said this I hadn’t figured out why I was losing the mini-rants! Gah! I am so tech daft and such a message board peasant.

At least I now have our MMP on ‘tracking’ now. Took me 11 months to figure THAT out.

On Monday I open the new MMP and keep that tab open until the next one. I’m that lazy. I seem to have confused something, though, because the message board keeps telling me I have 16 unread messages in the old thread.

I’m wondering what happened to spring. This morning was a beautiful late March morning, but the calendar says May.

I actually prefer to have some rain because then stuff stays green without me having to drag out the hose.

Lunch will be Pasta e Fagioli from the freezer, but without the pasta. It’s already thawed, and I’ll add pasta when I warm it up for lunch. It’s certainly the right weather for it.

Special day today: 21 years since Mount St. Helens blew its top. I guess that means we can buy a beer for the volcano. But just one. Don’t want it to get out of control. Been there, done that.

Happy Tuesday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to dump and heave.

Yes!

I need progressives, but with the astigmatism, nystagmus, and different eye prescriptions, it ain’t happening.

Yanno, I almost always review my posts before posting them because I find typos so distracting when I read. But my last one was so short, I didn’t bother - how could I make a mistake with so few words? Trust the resident comedians to jump on it… :stuck_out_tongue:

Up way too early today, tho I stayed in bed reading on my tablet for an hour or so before hitting the shower. And shortly, I’ll head down the stairs to put the first coat on the last of the walls. It’s supposed to be a pretty day - I’m thinking I’ll pack a lunch and take Roxy to one of the local parks for a picnic. It should be too nice to hang out inside all day and the back yard is in serious need of mowage, which I can’t do with a toddler underfoot.

Another vote for progressives here! I’ve never had lined specs but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t like them. It did take me a little bit to get used to the progressives at first - for some reason, going down stairs was disorienting - but I lurves 'em now - been wearing them for over 20 years. Holy crap - that long??? When did I get so damned old??

No time to wallow in self-pity - there are comics to be read before I paint again.

Happy Tuesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 62 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 87and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today is laundry day. I can hardly contain my excitatement. also I shall go over to the church house to gather up donated foodstuffs and take it over to Neighbors In Need, the local food and other stuff pantry we help sponsor. I shall also go to the Food/Winn/Harvey’s/Dixie/Lion as there is a sale on Poopsie products and it’s on the way back to da cave after I deliver foodstuffs. Sup shall be my world renowned Eyetalian chikin, peas 'n carrots, smashed N.O.T., and rolls.

I wear bifocals but mine are lined. I’ve had progressives as well. I actually prefer the lined lenses. The only problem I have with bifocals is goin’ down stairs. That’s always been a little weird for me. However, other than that they are great.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Also, since I shall once again go about the public (such a bother!) I must purtify and don appropriate clothin’.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

This morning’s round of paintage is done. Roxy is on her way here. Let the games begin!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s raining. Weather app says “It’s wetter than a truck stop toilet after being used by a bus load of fucking hover pissers” and promises me 14C/57F, mostly cloudy with showers nearby. I’d agree with that. It was sunny at 7am when I walked to the station, still sunny at 8.30a when I got to the campus office. Wet and miserable now…I bet it rains all the way back home too.

Since I’m on my own in the office, there’s nobody around to complain about the music so I’ve got a Rockfit playlist going on spotify, nice mix of old and new stuff there so that’s keeping me entertained. It was useful to be here because I needed to copy a document and print out some reports to work from tomorrow. I can work off screen versions but having a paper copy to write on is sometimes much easier. Oh, and I booked a bunch of gigs yesterday so I have tickets and confirmations that need to be printed out for the home noticeboard.

Cookie belated happies for your birthday, and congrats on the great-grandkid!

wordy sorry to hear about the dementia…that is such an awful thing to live with.

I also need to book an eye test, I had a reminder from the opticians a couple of weeks ago but haven’t done anything about it yet. I know my eyesight has deteriorated over the last year or so, probably not helped by having to work more from a laptop at home. I have them tested every 3 years anyway so it’s due.

Today is ‘im indoors’ birthday so we are off to a local pub tonight (inside! yay!) for a celebratory curry. They have a Nepalese chef who makes the most amazing curries so that is definitely a high point to the week. Sadly, we have to go grocery shopping first.

I wear progressives. Once they became available, I never went back to the lined bifocals. I didn’t have any issues getting used to them either. I need to make an eye appointment too.

When I woke up it was pouring down rain. I hope it lets up enough later this morning for my husband to finish spreading the mulch. He didn’t finish yesterday and I couldn’t help because I was working. I should be able to help him this afternoon after I get done with my doctor’s appointment. Today is the day I (hopefully) will receive a diagnosis about my borked-up knee, wrist, and arm. I’m not counting on much, but I will try to remain positive they can figure something out so that I can begin the journey back to wellness and fitness. Having not run for nearly four months now has really pissed me off, to be honest, and the attendant weight gain doesn’t make me any happier.

Congrats on the great-grandkind, cookie!

wordy, I am so sorry to read about your dad’s dementia. What a terrible thing for everyone involved.

Well, it’s time for another cup of coffee. I got downstairs later than usual because I actually had to style my hair since I am leaving the house. Mostly, I just wash it and let it air dry if I don’t have to go anywhere. Today, I have to look like a proper person. I will even put on some mascara and whatnot. Since COVID, I rarely bother with make-up anymore. No one can see my face under the mask anyway and it just makes the mask dirty.

Y’all might want to check your math there, Dicey; and if you want volcanoes, there are cameras tracking an eruption in Iceland (although it looks quiet right now…) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1I-0PUhFmU

Seanette, I wear progressives too, and they have gotten better and better over the years. Look into them.

nellie, enjoy the appointment, whatever day it is…

Up and dressed for once, expecting the gutter folks shortly, so of course there is a chance of rain around noontime…we’ll see. Also need to mail my AAA membership dues sometime today and coach the boy’s soccer, so that should keep the day relatively active. Everyone have a good 2sday.
