(Old) Springing into cleaning in the MMP

Creamy bites of joy.

Happy Easter to all who celebrate!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I don’t know if Sis will drag her butt out of bed in time to do anything today or not.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

No.

But that’s because I never much cared for it in the first place.

Our deluxe (pepperoni, sausage, green pepper, mushroom … Jeebus I can recite that in my sleep) is roughly half of all our orders, and contains nothing I consider even remotely edible.

If it’s a perfectly ripe Haas, then … oh, gawds yes.

@FairyChatMom some avocado are, yes, tasteless. They’re kind of a gamble sometimes. But when you strike it big, ooooh yummy!

Love this! Gotta remember it (typed as I have Siamese of thundering gravity keeping me from getting up to make my first coffee of the day).

Those kitteh pictures literally took my breath away. There may have been a little bit of crazy cat lust in there too.

Good morning and Happy Easter to those that celebrate. Mrs Magill anf I attended the vigil service last night while Squeaky was at work. We came home to a recently showered sixteen year old young man eating a frozen pizza in his underwear because “all of his pajamas” were in the wash. Boy, if only he had some new pairs in his drawers that we had purchased for him a couple of months ago. Oh, wait! He does! Right there, in his top drawer right under (wait for it) another pair of pajama pants. :woman_facepalming:

Mrs Magill let me sleep late, so I’m running a bit behind. I have the potato casserole in the oven for breakfast now, and the ham for early dinner warming up on the counter. I need to go file diving shortly for FCM’s tarragon potato recipe in a minute.

Your idea intrigue me,and I’d like to subscribe to your newsletter.

I missed those at Franklin Pride. I may have to attend Nashville Pride.[1]

Okay, this is one of those wierd things that triggers my GD. I guess this is what happens when you suppress things for fifty-plus years.

I’m sorry. This is a completely foreign concept to me.

  1. I’m still getting used to the idea that I’m a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and not just a supporter. ↩︎

Well, I’m home. Left early and got an hour’s break going back to Central time so despite some rain I made good time. Wasn’t the greatest side trip ever, but it got me out of the house, allowed me to meet (for a couple minutes) a couple of Air-Travel 'content makers" who I watch a lot, and see the Delta Museum for the first time. So not bad for about 44 hours investment. Now in about 74 hours I need to be ready to leave on my major vacation, I did use some down time to organize my paperwork for the trip and do my packing list (but I’ll always forget something). The sun is out now and I am hoping it will dry things out enough that I can perform mowage this afternoon (they pickup the clippings on Moanday). Outside of that nothing much planned for Easter.

And trying to catch up a little bit from the last 24 hours (and 27 posts).

Mollie, best wishes on the cataract surgery. And clothing and teenagers have a…unique…relationship (so do old retired folks…). Enjoy dinner.

JtC, Paid over $4.00/gallon to fill up on my trip, first time in a while I haven’t been able to use my Kroger discount and the shock was considerable. No intent to ever use 88 octane. And beautiful story about the dentist’s office.

Flyboy, haven’t read down, but hope sister gets real about her situation.

FCM, bet the kids will love the track.

Swampy, hoping the Easter service is going well.

There’s an animated cartoon somewhere in that…or at least a webcomic

lily, lovely pictures.

And a Happy Easter to all that observe, and a good Sunday to all y’all.

I’ve had excellent luck with the bags of four Hass avocados from Trader Joe’s. Supermarket ones are hit-or-miss.

I bought a huge avocado from Florida once, from Pike Place Market. It tasted like water. Never again will I eat a Florida avocado.

I’m not sure what that means. Anyway, she confirmed I’m wearing her shirt, as she’d cut the tag off of it.

It’s stupid, but a wee part of me feels a longing when I hear something like that. It doesn’t bug me anymore, since I can recognize what that feeling is, but it’s still there.

What is ‘GD’?

But I’ve cleaned, dusted, vacuumed, and changed Spot’s litter. Laundry up next.

@susan Pic #3: “Zen and The Art of Meow-tercycle Maintenance”

That describes Spot perfectly.

Also when you do 'shrooms. :brown_mushroom:

“16 year old boy” and “logic” are two circles in a Venn diagram separated by the Known Universe.

Gender dysphoria.

I don’t like typing it out, just like I still haven’t said certain prefixes out loud yet.

Ah.

The T-shirts are unisex and identical. Here’s one currently on eBay.

I’ll respond to y’all later, but about 10 minutes ago a giant-ass tree fell across the road (the top landed in the front yard of the house next door!) and though I haven’t lost power, Dah Interwebz are out. Gotta conserve that data plan.

I usually tackle the ceiling fans and baseboards this time of year. They gather so much dust over the winter that it’s impossible to ignore once the sun starts hitting them directly. Good luck with the windows.

50F at 1330 on Easter Sunday. We always do a nod to Polish Easter, as that’s my wife’s heritage. So breakfast was Polish sausage (fresh), scrambled eggs and baba that she made last evening. I have to say that the sausage is the best Polish I’ve eaten. I bought it at a local Polish/Ukrainian restaurant/deli. The stuff you get in a grocery store has been smoked and processed. This was fresh, so it maintained the herb flavors perfectly. If you’re not familiar with baba (or babka, or placek), it’s an eggy, buttery coffee cake with a filling of nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, etc., baked in a bundt pan.

We have to work on our will worksheets tomorrow in preparation for an appointment with an estate lawyer this coming week. Do we know how to have fun or what?

Your end of MMP Sadie photo: Ear fluff.

Too much food… Mrs Magill made us some eggs this morning to go with the potato and cheese casserole we’d bought at the pancake supper at church on Shrove Tuesday. Then, I misremembered when Squeaky was scheduled to work[1], so I had the ham, roasted veggies, and roasted potatoes[2] ready an hour early. We could only fit in a single slice of ham each. The potatoes were good, but I think I’ll toss in some salt next time.

While I was in the shower washing my feet, I noticed my ankles were a little thicker than usual. Mrs Magill agreed. They’re not at “cankle” thickness, but there is some swelling there. I’ve given myself a calendar reminder to schedule my physical. Between my ankles and… other developments, my GP and I have a lot to discuss.

The dysphoria is acting up today. I’m not sure why. Now that I can recognize it, I can ride it out. I don’t like it, and it takes mental effort to deal with it, but I can bear it.

And now the washer is complaining to me that I haven’t emptied it yet. At least I got Squeaky to do the post dinner-washing up. His mother was processing the rest of the ham for split-pea soup, so I’m reasonably sure it’s clean to her standards and not to sixteen year-old boy standards.

  1. Three o’clock, not two, like I remembered ↩︎

  2. FCM’s recipe - Thank you! ↩︎

UPDATE: for about an hour, HALF the power in my house was out. Like, the outlets on part of my house worked; the other half were dead.

What’s funny to me is I have 2 lights in the bathroom … for a while, the switch closest to the driveway didn’t light that lamp … but the other one (for the light over the sink) worked fine.

Now ALL power is out, and some men are standing around in hard hats, two cherry pickers have been sent out, a couple of fire trucks are blocking the street, and there’s a cop whose job is to .. enjoy the lovely afternoon?

Had some fun texting Meh Dear Olde Dad (who was an electrical engineer before middle management took over his job/life) and he explained that I probably have 2 wiring circuits.

Also, none of the basement lights worked … even the one directly over the electric dryer which worked just fine.

Go figure.

But for now, I have zero electricity, so buh-bye lunch plans involving a microwave, and I don’t wanna open fridge/freezer until { bzzzzt! } starts working again, so … ah, Triscuits for Easter, how festive.

Christ, if I get any more bored, imma hafta call my mother.

Glad you’re okay!

I got a haircut from a new person–it’s good. Now, having eaten our Thai dinner leftovers as Easter lunch, we will bite the ears off the GF DF bunnies.

The ham is in the oven. At 6.5 pounds, it should take a bit over an hour and a half. So… a quarter past three? Maybe we’ll eat at four.

My adult daughters just left. We had a nice late lunch of Chicken Parmesan (veal for me) and a really nice visit. None of us are church goers but Easter lunch is usually a thing.

Still no power to fridge. The lamp that (was) working fine spluttered off, then on, then off again.

Many men yelling outside, plus much machinery. Tree has been chopped into large pieces.

Oooh, lamp flickered on, then off, then on again.

It’s like one of those shitty horror movies.
