Soft too, don’t forget soft.
Back at the hotel, have done nappage and got a sammich and fries from a place called the American Deli and watching Basketball. Probably could have made it home today but would have been doing it while pretty tired so worth staying overnight. Supposed to be much cooler tomorrow and rainy so will do the ‘early to bed early to rise’ routine.
And so it goes.
That’s where a grabber comes in handy. I have to use that to pick up Nelson’s toys when I sweep the floor every day.
Scalloped potatoes with ham, onions and mushrooms!
I took a nap this afternoon after giving up on getting the !@#$ password reset. Supper is a salad and a quesadilla.
Howdy Y’all! Thought I would get in a quick post before I make my way over to the church house for the Vigil. We got all the stuff back in place this mornin’. The flower folk came in this afternoon to do their thing. Can’t wait to see what they did. They always amaze me. It’s stormy all around right now. No rain here but thunder in the distance. Don’t think it’s stormy in the direction I will be headed but one never knows. OYKW has declined to go tonight. I think he reached his people limit and needs to recharge. He wants to lie upon the bed and watch stoopid teevee. I am a little jealous.
OK, need to get outta here in a few.
Laterz!
Scalloped potatoes don’t fit well in our eating plan. I just cooked up the spuds and onions with salt, pepper, and tarragon in a little butter, then tossed the ham on top till it was heated. It was OK - it filled a void.
Well, Mr. Let’s Make A Deal never did get back to me about getting the TV. Guess he didn’t want it all that badly. No big - I wasn’t interested in dealing with him anyway.
FCD got the track all ready for the kids - tomorrow should be fun.
Here’s hoping tonight I can sleep thru.
I was on the 300 Slide today, since they called the Senior Clerk in to do the 100 and 200. One of the 300 slide printers crapped out instantly(the only one that had the Exception Resolution program), so I had to take the Twilight packages up to the front. Then the other 300 Slide printer died. It took forever to find a a sup. It was 3 hours into the sort before I was told that I had to call the Helpdesk. Which was in Costa Rico, and the call quality was so bad I could not hear the guy even when I was outside in the quiet withe my cellphone cranked up and 5 bars. I finally got one printer working by pushing random buttons.
One of the FT Sups got the other printer working, and we finally got everything cleaned up. I got out early, since the Senior Clerk was there to do damages and overgoods without interruption. I had bacon, eggs, and a gin&tonic, and did laundry. I napped. I dreamed I was at my parents home in Durham N.C., and a racoon, a possum, and a random chihuahua bonded with me and started following me around. Now it’s hockey, a Vieux Carré, and black Bean Garlic Stir fry.
I’m sure Maintenance was happy to not have to change 5000 spark plugs a week.
Two words: Stockholm Syndrome

Well, PBR was my beer growing up.
That’s why Spot doesn’t nap on top of me.
Stoopid TV > stupid people
That is always a good thing, but are you having swallowing issues on top of every thing else? That seriously sucks!
Keep working on your recovery, I know that the PT is not a whole lot of fun, but as you know…it will make a huge difference in your final recovery.
Many hugs going your way!

Did he get into your catnip?
I love his fuzzy belly, I wouldn’t be able to resist rubbing it every time I saw it.
For some reason, that made me crack up.
I drink constantly. Coffee in the morning and then about 64 ozs of icewaterwithlemon the rest of the day. Booze in the evenings. As a result, I pee every couple of hours. I’m up at least three times a night to pee and it really doesn’t bother my sleep at all. I don’t turn the lights on, I turn the hot hot water as I go by to the terlit so I’m not washing my hands in cold water when I’m done and I’m back to sleep almost as soon as George is comfy again.
Some of you guys have seriously interesting nights and mine are just nothingness. Once in a while I’ll wake up with the fragments of a dream in my head, but they are gone by the time I’ve brushed my teeth.
Bring a bag of frozen cherries and a pint of heavy cream. Pour the cream over the frozen cherries so it freezes inside and around them. Enjoy ![]()
I’m paying much more than I should to see my current dentist. They see me on time and are as kind and gentle as possible. Every room has a lovely orchid in front of the spotless, wide windows. Back when dentist’s grandfather bought the land, he sent teen-aged dentist up the side of the mountain to plant blooming bushes, trees, tulips and daffodils.
Going to see them requires an hour drive which includes going over a fairly terrifying bridge and there are a lot of dentists much closer to home.
I will continue to overpay for something that my insurance covers just so I can look at the calming beauty outside the treatment room windows. It makes such a difference in my willingness to actually keep appointments.
Does Sadie like to sit in the window and bat at the snowflakes? George just stares at them, but Jolene actively tries to kill them.
If you get the time, look at pictures of Monet’s work in chronological order. You can see the progression of his cataracts over the years. He used beautiful vibrant colors in his early years but then the cataracts started taking them away and before his surgery, he only used blue because that was the only color he could see. The cataracts were removed and then he was painting in color again.
Before my surgery, I could not tell the difference between the cream, yellow and blue on this piece.
Hubs will be having churro beans, no cornbread. And a salad. I will try to fix the Alfredo sauce that split when I froze it. If I can’t fix it, I’ll just toss a mini pizza in the oven for me.
The only thing better than a BLT is a BLT with guac. Just sayin’
How long has it been, you need to give them at least two weeks before giving up.
Well, dang. That’s not good at all. I hope the discussions were interesting and that you learned a lot. Have a safe trip home!
I think that is a very good piece of communication. No blame, no shame, but also no chance that you will ever give her money out of your personal account because shes in such a bind. I hope she pays attention, you don’t need this stress while you are stressing about making nooby mistakes at work.
I didn’t notice anything saying that, but of course that means nothing. Sheetz is a pretty large company, they are going to follow the rules about required signage.
If 4X4’s drink it, that explains a lot. That Sheetz was by one of the H&N trailheads, there were a couple of 4X4’s filling up while we were there.
I’ve had my lemon tree outside for the last few days, but had to bring it in tonight. It won’t get that cold tonight, but it won’t warm up during the day and will drop to freezing overnight. Citrus trees don’t like the cold.
What a good wife you are, taking one for the team and all!
I had NO idea how often I would use a grabber before I bought one. They come in handy for all sorts of things!
I prefer mine with sliced avocados.

Thank you. FWIW, she replied that she didn’t know how I left a message, as her phone was destroyed in the flood.
The Spousal Unit pointed out that she’s been handed everything. After being a CNA, she was adjudged mentally something-or-other (she’d form relationships with her elderly patients, and they’d die, which resulted in her mental breakdown), and has been taking Disability since the late-1970s. (She also has spinal degeneration.) She was semi-homeless, but she was still getting ‘free money’ from the government. Once she got back into contact, dad helped her out. When dad won a hundred kilobucks playing Keno, he helped her buy a house so that she would not have to rent space in a garage. (He gave me a share to get my helicopter certificate.) When mom died, she started getting a share of the rent from the San Diego house. I claim the rent as personal income, and pay the taxes on it. So she A) Gets ‘free money’ from the Trust; and B) gets ‘free money’ because I pay the taxes on the income. I’ve given her ‘free money’ in the past for ‘emergencies’. But it’s just not fiscally responsible to deplete what little we have in the house account. Even though she’s been handed everything for most of her adult life, I cannot continue that.
It’s better to dissolve the trust and divide the amounts. Then I will no longer have to pay California taxes, I won’t have to worry about anything related to the property, and I won’t have to deal with her ‘emergencies’. I’m tired of the stress, of the complicated taxes, and stressing every time I hear from her.
I prefer mine with sliced avocados.
You can’t have a proper BLAT without sliced avocados.
I prefer mine with sliced avocados.
I do as well, but when one is making a menu involving already available foodstuffs…guac cannot be turned back into avocado slices.

Food vendors at Pride sell those as LGBT sandwiches.
It rained hard a couple of times this evening but had stopped by the time I took Nelson out.
a place with alcohol free gas
World’s most non-fun frat party.
if one is used to just getting the cheapest one in the line up, they might get the 88 octane instead
That’d be me. Thanks for the PSA.
… wait, what was regular octane, in The Before Times?
love his fuzzy belly, I wouldn’t be able to resist rubbing it every time I saw it.
I can rub it & keep all 10 fingers.
You know what’s better? I can blow raspberries into his tummy & emerge unscathed.
Did he get into your catnip?
Stone cold sober. (Him. Not so much me.)

@susan lovely pics of lovely kittehs.
I brought food to work. I brought home the food from work. (Saturday before a holiday, we were quite busy .. go figure!)
So now that Monkey has glued himself to my kneecap, it’s time for snax .. e.g. leftovers, yay - conveniently right by my feet, where I plopped my Bag O’Stuff ™ from work next to my chair, knowing once 1a.) I sat down, and 2b.) I got stapled by the Cat Of Thundering Gravity, I wasn’t gonna get back up.
He just moaned, then hugged my knee and hung his chin over the side. As one does.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. There is morning cleaning and afternoon slot and hockey on today’s agenda. Spot is watching his shows in the sunroom. It’s current;y 65 degrees Ferret Height(18.333 Centipedes). There will be thunderstorms this afternoon.
Good Mornin’ Y’all and Happy Easter! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 78 and cloudy with rain startin’ around five p.m. At least the rain will wait until all the humanlets hunt aigs. The main item on today’s agenda is the biiiiiig Easter deheathenization service. I expect at least an hour and a half one. Then we will head back to da cave for sammiches and nappage. As I mentioned before, our Easter feast will be grilled ribeyes, sallit, loaded baked N.O.T., cheesey garlic bread and DQ ice cream cake. YUM!
Everyone have fun with whatever celebrations or lack thereof y’all are involved in. Above all be safe if you travel.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence. Need to get there in time to fill candles. I have Verger duty as well.
Happy Sunday and Happy Easter Y’all!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/48f with a predicted high of 10c/50f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “This weather is fucking awesome if you just experienced winter, but it’s fucking terrible if summer just ended.”
He keeps talking about how bright the colors are and that he had no idea things were so colorful.
I have heard the same thing from other people who’s had similar procedures. I’m glad everything went well and he is already benefitting from it.
Having fun looking at planes and meeting some You Tube posters who are just as nice in person.
Sounds like you’re having a good time, shame about the lack of seating for panel discussions though. That’s poorly thought out if you’re on your feet all day.
I will remain home to make sure the kitties have a warm surface to nap on.
That is a vital function for a cat parent! I wasn’t able to get out of bed this morning because Cherry was snuggled up against me and of course, I couldn’t possibly disturb her snooze.
I’m tired of the stress, of the complicated taxes, and stressing every time I hear from her.
I think you left her a perfectly reasonable message that gives her all the facts so that she’s completely clear about things. It seems to me that she has come to rely on you to bail her out because you are the fiscally responsible one, and she has always had someone around to deal with things for her. It must be stressful for you, and a strain on your relationship with her, especially if you dread picking up the phone when she calls because there’s always something she wants you to fix. Eventually, you have to start protecting your peace.
Everyone have fun with whatever celebrations or lack thereof y’all are involved in. Above all be safe if you travel.
This! I hope you and OYKW enjoy your day, especially the ice cream cake part!
Just another quiet day at home for me today, we didn’t do much of anything yesterday aside from tending to the needs of cats. I made us a roast dinner in the evening so now there’s a big tub of leftover chicken in the fridge, and I also kept some of the crispy chicken skin because Muffin seems to like it, and I want something to give her as a treat.
We ended up watching some films in the evening so it was another late night for us. I got up to feed the cats and then went back to bed for a bit longer, at which point Cherry decided to snuggle up with me, so of course I had to stay there. Finally up and about, drinking tea and contemplating what to do with myself today. I am definitely erring on the side of slothing the afternoon away on the sofa with a book. ‘im indoors is cooking dinner today, he said he’s making mac and cheese, which means I need to stay out of the kitchen while he manages to create absolutely chaos!
Bring a bag of frozen cherries and a pint of heavy cream.
She won’t eat cherries either. Or apples. Lessee, her fruit choices are green grapes, navel oranges, applesauce, maybe canned peaches. Did I mention she’s a very VERY fussy eater?
Speaking of avocado, to me it’s absolutely flavorless. What’s it supposed to taste like?
I brought food to work.
Since pizza is your work life, has your desire for it changed any? Do you crave it or wish never to see it again or is your attitude much as it always was? I’m not sure how I’d feel if I was around it all the time.
Today starts around 66 Ferrets, going to maybe 72 with on and off rain allegedly starting around noon. At least that’s what accuweather says. FCD and I will be leaving around 10 - my sister lives near BWI so we’re looking and a 90-minute drive. And we’ll head back here around 2 or shortly thereafter so we’re home before SIL brings the grands back from his mother’s.
It strikes me as odd - she’ll have the kids over for a few hours, or maybe overnight, but Daughter and SIL never seem to go there for a visit or for supper. I think part (or the main) reason is her husband - I’ve not met him but FCD says he’s a bit of a jerk. I also notice when they need any kind of help, they come to us. And when SIL wants a family dinner, it’s always with us. Somewhat telling, methinks.
Anyway, apart from a few hours with some of my family, we’ll have the grands this evening so they can see and play with the slot cars. I’ll make up some boxed mac-n-cheese for supper. I doubt FCD and I will want to eat much, but SIL lurves it as do the grands. And that’ll pretty much be my day.
I’m pretty sure old Ziva is stone death. I’ve noticed she jumps if I touch her before she sees me. She doesn’t react if I enter a room and her back is to me, nor does she respond if I talk to her. I’m wondering, too, if she’s going blind. Poor girl will be 18 if she lives till June. Geriatric critters can be a heartbreak.
Thus begins the day at FairyChatEstate. Happy Easter and Happy Sunday!
And when SIL wants a family dinner, it’s always with us.
Must be because you’re so nice, dammit!
Good morning, everyone.
It’s 43F and mostly clear outside. The morning sunshine is expected to convert to afternoon cloudiness, with a daytime high of 68F.
FCM, it seems you and FCD provide the family SiL craves. I think it’s a compliment to you, but sad that he doesn’t experience that with his own family.
Metal Mouse, it sounds as though you enjoyed yourself, and it was worth the trip.
A couple of weeks ago, I purchased a corned beef pack at Costco from Snake River Farms. Snake River Farms is the company I use when I send Waygu meat to the kids. I haven’t ever tried their products, but the kids love the steaks and brisket I’ve sent them. At any rate, yesterday I prepared the corned beef by slow-braising it in an oven in a Dutch oven with the usual suspects, using Guinness and beef broth for the liquid. I also put in a cinnamon stick. My goodness! It was delicious! It wasn’t a very big hunk of meat, barely three pounds, and my husband pretty much destroyed most of it last night, which is fine.
I’m not sure what today’s plans are. Maybe some yard work, maybe not. We might see 70F tomorrow, but that’ll be the warmest day of the week.
I suppose I should get my day fully started. You all take care.
I’m wearing a Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park T-shirt. Wahine asked, ‘Do you know where my shirt like that is? I can’t find it.’ I searched through my folded T-shirts and found it, and she put it on to wear while she coloured her hair. A little bit ago, she said she thinks I’m wearing her shirt. I see a few streaks of bleaching on one sleeve, and that my be from her hair colour. Also, the shirt I found was deeper in the stack, and the one I’m wearing had been higher. She must have put her shirt in with my clothes, and I didn’t notice the difference.
