(Old) Stone Cold Vacation A 4/20 MMP

This is standard advice for kittehs who have one paw on the Rainbow Bridge already anyway. Probably elderly pups, etc. too. Let 'em have what they want, and damn the torpedoes ingredients. Canned tuna? Screw the sodium. The anchovies off my pizza? Okay, weirdo, here ya go.

Mrs Magill had to go to the eye doctor this morning and got a new prescription and wants me to drive her dilated butt to the Costco, so she can get new glasses. Hopefully, that will alleviate the Tamifloxin headache she’s had for the last three years - so no yoga at all. Looks like I’ll have to change into Leaving The House pants.

I’m NOT asking for tech help, I’m just grumping. My Outlook e-mail is acting crazy. I was deleting a scad of e-mails, in batches of 24, when it started zipping through them without any action from me. I’d jump out of Outlook and back again, and all the emails were still there, then, whoosh, all gone. We’re gonna get help from Mrs. Nott’s nephew, who knows about this kind of magic.

Due to Parkinson’s, I have difficulty swallowing big pills. Even cut in half, the multivitamin/calcium pills sometimes took two or three tries, with coughing up a sharp-edged pill in between. Today, Mrs. Nott got gummy versions of multivite and calcium pills. I’m hoping that will make med time less unpleasant.

I am feeling better today, with the exception of the lingering cough/congestion and VERY sore ribs from all the coughing. Buddy is a very good nurse kitty.

Not a good morning here. First thing, my friend texted me that his dog died overnight. He said he went to sleep with the dog’s head on his foot, woke in the morning with her head still there, but no dog left inside.

Then I discovered that a mouse has eaten a wire inside my oven, tripped a GFCI, and did I don’t know what damage to the computer in the oven. I’ll be digging into that tomorrow, cuz I just donwanna right now.

VanGo - I’m sorry about your friend’s dog.

Monarch Butterflies aren’t the other?

I’m seeing regular feeder visits now but we don’t have much blooming here so they aren’t hanging around yet.

When we moved, I gave most of my plants to TC friend and she says the Columbines I left are doing great in her yard which makes me happy. I’m glad I gave them to someone who would keep them alive. She also reminded me that I gave her a giant lavender bush and I’m thinking I seriously need another one.

Lavender grows native here and the one I had in AZ was always covered in bees, plus it was pretty.

I watch the migration maps to know when to put the feeders out. I’ve been screamed at in the past and have learned to try to avoid it now

I spent most of my working life wishing for a nanny. Nannies see to your meals and clothes, plus make you go to bed on time.

You are sounding very positive, I’m really happy that it all went well. I’ll bet your healing will go even faster now that you are allowed feline comfort and purrs.

Can you make sure she has plenty of snacking bits of cheese and cold meats? I use a paring knife to make fruits and veggies into flowers or simple birds, those tend to taste better than carrot sticks and radishes. Sometimes easy to grab snacks override the need to bake cookies.

She was so comfortable in her shelter. She was one of about thirty cats in a small house and she was lil miss confident. No hissing or yelling, just doing what she wanted no matter who she got close to.

But that was over a year ago. Now she has established her rule over the kingdom, she doesn’t seem to want to tolerate pretenders.

That’s OK. We will do what is needed to be sure that kitty ends up in a good home and she will be fine in the sink until that happens. She seems pretty content ATM. She has a full belly, kibble waiting and clean water. Nothing bad has happened there and she doesn’t have to defend herself from the resident cats.

So today went as planned except the trip to the library. This branch isn’t open on the weekends and I think it would be better to take the starts on Monday.

James still sounds horrible but he assures me he isn’t dead yet and would like some more soup. He can’t have heating devices in his room so I bought him some wide mouth thermoses and will bring him three at a time so he can have some in the middle of the night if he wakes up.

We just had about half an hour or so of a t-boomer move thru. It dropped the temp about 10 Ferrets, but the sun is now out, so it may rewarm a bit.

I just made 8 sunflower starters in paper cups - we’ll see if they take. The seeds are kinda old, but I didn’t let that stop me!! We’ll see what the next 10 days bring.

I put fresh sheets on the bed and all the laundry is put away. A rather productive day, all told. We shall see what the morrow brings. Tonight brings chillage.

I went out to the airpot to watch the flights for a bit. I stopped at the ABC store, then came home and did laundry. I napped. Now I’m having a pina colada, Greek seasoned cod, orzo and onion and cucumber salad.

I guess that’s the cat version of “you need a prior authorization for this treatment.”

Reverse pissing contest.

Yay! And double yay for Nurse Topaz.

At least it wasn’t throwing feeders like Onan does.

:frowning:

Sink-o De Meow!

Howdy Y’all! Duties got done and I got to sloth about a while, so good day. On my way back to da cave my vehicle swerved into the Pubic Sto’ parkin’ lot. Next thing I knew I was back in it with a chawklit pee-kahn pie. How weird! Sup got fixed and et. I outdid myself even if’n I do say so myself.

Lily glad you are startin’ to heal and can have kitteh company.

VanGo sorry about your friend and his dawg. Also ick about the mouse and the oven worries. Hope the fix is not too bad.

JtC hope James is on the mend. I agree about the chikin soup. It’s good for what ails ya. Are you sure kitteh has not already found her forever home?

Cookie glad the wife is goin’ to start PT. Hope the A1C gets under control soonest.

Nuts never got a PhD, but I found screamin’ into the void to be helpful when I was workin’ on my masters.

Notty I am lucky I have a friend to talk me through computer woes. Most of the time he can talk me through with texts, but he is willin’ to come take a physical look when I am confused. He gets homemade cookies from time to time.

Mollie guess that humming bird told you! Hope the new glasses help your wife with her headaches. Puttin’ on leave the house pants for someone is a love language.

Warm.

Lady SCAdian’s little sister has three orange-and-whites – two males and a female. Lovely little critters.

He went to sleep with his best friend. I can’t think of a better place.

I’m feeling old. I’m watching Rock ‘n’ Roll High School… on TCM. Yeah, it’s a classic now. As a teenager, I had the hots for P.J. Soles.. I looked her up, and she’s older than my sister! :astonished: And the Ramones? Joey, Johnny, and Dee Dee are dead. Only Marky is still alive. Aside from that… The music! They don’t make it like that anymore. (FWIW, my newest CDs are from 1997, I think.) So yeah. I’m a friggin’ geezer. :frowning:

Someone at the drive-thru window had the cyoooootest dog - picture a cross between an Eewok & a teddy bear, but also with enough sweetness to give you a cavity.

Me: “Oh, Imma take that dog home with me.”

Alternate Manager: “I don’t think your cat would approve … ?”

Me: “Screw him, he doesn’t even pay rent.”

Alternate Manager: { giggles approvingly }

Me, much later, dragging carcass back home: “Hey. You are one lucky monkey.”

Monkey: “Uuuhhhhrmahgawds you’re home … Ilurveyousooomuch … canned fud?”

Me: “How much for that doggie :musical_notes: in the window?” :musical_note:

Monkey: “CANNED FUD DAMMIT HYOMAN!”

Me: “Oh, looky, a preroll & bed.”

I like monarchs, but we actually have orange 'n black butterflies that migrate long distance up from Africa, though they are a bit smaller, less dramatic and less famous. Monarchs are more of a slightly cooler variation on what we already have, while hummingbirds are just totally different.

Having a very lazy start to the day. It’s all overcast and gloomy, after being pretty much sunny all week, so going out isn’t all that inviting. I should probably get on with some defilthifyin’, seeing as no-one else is gonna do it, but that will take effort…

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I shall do laundry at some point. Spot is napping on his cat tree. It’s is currently 59 degrees Ferret Height out(15 Centipedes)

Well, I’m a landlubber again. Been exploring Nice, France (the hotel is holding my luggage until I can check in at 3pm–it’s 12:45 now). Nice is… interesting, been wandering around using the city tram as my hop-on hop-off ride. Big veggie market, a DaVinci exhibit and soon cool looking places. Am currently at the epitome of French cuisine…5 Guys… Will do a little more exploring then a nice rest in nice before my train trip tomorrow.

I have been reading of your lives but can’t retain much, so keep on keeping on and I’ll be back for the next MMP (Wednesday if all goes to plan).

Also,
HAPPY PERFECT DATE DAY!!!

I’m still mad my parents wouldn’t stop at the McDonalds in Munich when we visited.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 16c/60f with a predicted high of 20c/68f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s fucking overcast from where you’re sitting, but if you were in a fucking plane, you would say it’s fucking undercast.”

I’m sorry to hear he’s been ill but glad he is on the mend - medical science clearly hasn’t reckoned with a good pot of chicken soup!

It’s a good plan, but I know her too well. It’ll just shift her focus to something else  Our local union rep let me know that a disability focus group going on (Troublesome Minion has been involved in it) were now looking for line managers to include in discussions and she thought I’d be interested. Instead of a group, I had a personal meeting with one of the researchers and had a very detailed discussion with him about various disability issues, and some of her particular ones! It’s not really within the scope of his research group, but he’s going to send me some resources that might help in the endless fight to keep her happy.

I agree  When mum was alive, I would take her shopping and we’d buy a sweet treat to have at home afterwards. She was always saying that she shouldn’t really have it, it wasn’t good for her, and various other things. My reply was always, “you’re 80-something, what’s the worst that could happen?” Obviously the worst was that she had lung cancer and died from complications, but I don’t think one sticky doughnut a week would have made much difference. Of course, if you have a medical condition that requires stricter monitoring of things, you’d have to be careful, but for most people there comes a time when you should be living your life instead of worrying about all of that.

I am so glad to hear that surgery went well and recovery is going well too. Topaz has the makings of a fine nurse!

Nuts just look forward to the best part, when you leave the room after your viva and they open the door to invite you back in…“come in, Doctor”!

VanGo I am so sorry to hear about your friend’s dog, but kind of glad they were together at the end and she passed peacefully at home with her favourite human. Grrr about the mouse though.

Does it taste any different to 5 Guys at home? I often wonder about that, but haven’t bothered to test the theory (mainly because I have a grudge against Maccies, and I was deeply unimpressed by 5 Guys).

Yesterday was a busy day - I spent some time in the morning unpacking my personal stuff in the new office, tidying up a bit, taking labels off other stuff, and then going back upstairs to the old office for important things like rubbish bins, bin bags, sanitising wipes and a couple of electrical items that didn’t get moved. Then I had to do some prep work for a meeting in the afternoon, and I still managed to get out of the office 5 minutes early to get an earlier train home.

In the evening, we had volunteered to help out at a Little Paws bingo night. I hadn’t been to one before and had dragged 'im indoors along too. We didn’t have too much to do until the end when they needed help clearing up and packing stuff back into cars. It was fun, haven’t got the total amount raised yet but it’s usually around £600 (which goes straight to the vet bills).

Today I have already been to the gym, had restorative cups of tea at home, put some fresh colour on my hair and tended to the needs of cats. I need to get some lunch and scoot into town to do some errands, then we need to get dinner very early (old geezer time of day!) and be back out again soon afterwards. My favourite band in the whole entire world are playing the last night of their tour in my home town, I’m waiting for confirmation of stage times as I want to see the first band, don’t care for the second, and cannot possibly miss the third! Last week, doors opened at 7pm and Collateral were on stage at 7.15pm so we need to allow ourselves time to get fed, tarted up, uber ourselves to the venue and get through the doors by 7pm  Not that I’m keen or anything…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and sunny with a predicted high of 83 with a chance of much needed rain later this afternoon. Not much planned for the day like that is a big surprise. I am goin’ to attend Evensong at six p.m. at the downtown Episcopal church. They are celebratin’ their 175th anniversary and this one of the things they are doin’. There will be a reception afterwards. Sup will be leftovers from last night. Much sloth will be accomplished in the mean time.

MetalMouse hope Nice was nice. I assume you are on the choochoo by now.

BooFae enjoy watchin’ your favoirte band of all time!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!
