(Old) Stone Cold Vacation A 4/20 MMP

Enjoy Barcelona!

A lovely day, sunny in the low 60s F. We took a slow neighborhood walk of over 2 miles. Lots of redwings, a female bufflehead, a bald eagle, swallows, and crows, evidence of beavers, black squirrels. Now I will sit quietly and eat protein.

Chloé came with us to the Tractor Supply to get the new bird feeder. Since she was a good puppy (and no other reasons whatsoever) we swung by the Sonic for strawberry milkshakes. The good puppy got the whipped cream.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated (me twice, OYKW once) got back to da cave, had sammiches and then achieved nappage and day drinkin’. For reasons unknown the Altar Guild folk did not set up Communion in the chapel for the first service so da Verger had to get that done first thing. Good thing I know how to do stuff. I mentioned it to the AG president, not to get anyone in trouble, but hopefully a reminder will be sent out about setup for both services. I lived, so there’s that. Plus the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Now I feel the call of trashy teevee and chawklit pee-kahn pie.

JtC I am sure kitteh will find a good home post haste. Good for y’all for takin’ care of the vet bill. The fires are in southeast Jawja, so a hunnert and some miles east of da cave. If I were to go to our Diocesan conference center I would drive very close to the fires. Needless to say I will not be doin’ that. That was definitely fog this mornin’. It lifted whilst I was enroute to the church house.

BooFae glad y’all had such a good time at the concert. How nice of that person to turn up with a houseplant as a thanks. You brightened her day with the tickets and now she has brightened yours.

Lily yay for gettin’ out of the house! May the healin’ continue to be fast and easy.

Taters sounds like son’s move is for real now. Hope it all goes smoothly.

MetalMouse sounds like you are havin’ a fun choochoo ride. Roman day sounds like it could be fascinatin’. Lots of weird things come to mind.

red while I do not like the idea of someone bein’ kicked out of their residence, seems like this might be the only resolution in this case. Hope it settles down soonest.

Mollie that’s my favorite Waffle House breakfast. Chloe looks very chic with her new haircut!

Notty I went to the race in Talledega once durin’ my mispent youth. Cars went round and round and round whilst copious amounts of whisky were consumed. That is my one racetrack experience.

That’s similar to our old one. This is what we got. I like it because the birds can get to the seeds at the bottom. The old one had a space under the lower access ports, and old seeds just sat there, untouched and eventually rotting.

I must do the same. I accidentally hit the old one with a chuck-it ball and broke the glass tube. I have a whole system of the feeder suspended on a thin wire with big discs of plastic to prevent squirrel attacks.

Awwww…does your Sonic put a mini milkbone on top of the whipped cream?

We take our cats to the Army vet detachment on base, so I’ve no idea what vets out in town charge. But this is Connecticut, so it’s probably more than most places do.

Have you read Arthur Hailey’s Hotel? There’s a bit where it says that by law every place that has pay toilets has to have at least one free stall – and bar owners would give one of the local drunks a bottle of wine to just sit in there all evening.

I remember one day a few years back when we drove down to NYC and stopped at one of the rest stops along I-95. (It used to be a tollway through western CT, so you can’t just get off the highway at the next offramp to use a loo.) I noticed there were three or four coaches in the parking lot, but didn’t think anything of it until I went to use a restroom myself. There was a long queue coming out the door to the ladies’, so I smiled as I strolled past them and directly into the men’s – where I found at least four women who’d decided to skip the line next door.

Used to ride the C&NW commuter train – all cars double-deckers – down to Chicago to visit the Field Museum and the aquarium.

Which reminds me – I’m three weeks late for mine.

I cleaned, dusted, and vacuumed. I cleaned Spot’s box. I took out the trash and recycling. Tonight’s dinner is poke loin, sweet N.O.T., and salad. Plus a Wisconsin Old Fashioned. Thus ends my Sunday(and my vacation).

Yeah.

Awwww.

I found a Bic lighter by my feeder. Looks like Onan is upgrading from throwing things to arson.

We scrape the whipped cream into a tray. She sits in the footwell and enjoys her treat while we enjoy ours.

Bladen county problems require Bladen County solutions.

Have I reported yet that the pathology came back clean? No cancer!

W00t!

Lily HUZZAH! What fantastic news to end this week’s MMP!

Lily, that is fantastic news! Very happy for you.

YAY! That’s good news!

What great news! I’m so happy for you and your whole family, kitties and lovely wife included

She certainly will if the rescue has anything to do with it, she’s already listed on their facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Fixdferals/

Poor lil girl must be so confused, her whole world is upside now.

Those always wear me out too, but yeah. Its good we don’t get that horrible headache so many other people do.

I’m really surprised that the squirrels haven’t found my feeding station yet. They run around on the fence rail or zip across the lawn but they don’t seem to want to get close to the glass doors. I’ll bet they are afraid of George. Maine Coons are known to be fierce hunting cats and are certainly big enough to take on a fat gray squirrel or two.

So it was nice at the capital, sunny but not hot. The drive was lovely and the neighborhood around the capital building are full of blooming flowers and bushes. Nobody I talked to believed that this “assassination attempt” was any less staged than the one where he claimed to have been shot. I thought it was another Epstein distraction so was rather surprised that it was really for his ballroom.

Hubs is getting excited, there is a new Diablo IV expansion opening tomorrow and he’s ready to go. We have been playing this game since it first came out, I know how openings work. Everything will be a mess, the servers will be overloaded and laggy and there will be annoying bugs. I also bought my copy of the expansion a while back, but I’m not going to bother with it for a few days.

So, that’s about all the news here. The windows are open and the house is getting rather chilly, but we like it cold when we are sleeping. I want to do some stitching before bed, so I should probably stop messing around online and get to it. Have a great night everyone!

Or he’s taken up smoking crack.

Yay!
