Being issued shit tools at irk is a bummer all around. Getting new shiny ones is always fun. Doubly so since you didn’t have to pay for them.
There are several internationally standardized code schemes where all countries are given a 2-letter abbreviation. In all the coding schemes I know, the United States of America is “US”.
I just went through Discourse’s list of flags and only these 12 use those 2-letter codes:
Everybody else (~250 flags) has their country name spelled out. There’s no evident pattern to which are 2-letter codes and which are long form. Weird.
Sounds pretty darn tasty. And not the sort of thing that lands face-down on the kitchen floor and is still saleable. Next time I’m in Muskegon …
That pays far better than many things I’ve invested in over the years. I’m great at knowing and explaining the rules of the game. I suck at playing it though. Or at least I did for much of my life.
I like the way you think!
Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner! Chicken Dinner!
20 years ago today I started pissing my free time down this rat-hole communing with this fine collection of wonderful people.
Something about here must agree with me. Discourse says I’ve read 425,000 posts, made 38,500 posts, and stopped by about every other day on average. Which is pretty impressive considering I’ve taken two sabbaticals totaling 4 years.
