(Old) Thank God It's Frood Day - A Hoopy MMP

Looks like it’s on NBC now. It was golf when I posted.

And a good early evening to you all. Spent much of the afternoon pedaling at the gym, got several SF short stories read and watched some hockey on the TV’s around, so even with my conspicuous consumption earlier today I should just about balance out calorie-wise. In now and have no plans to move much from the computer for the balance of the evening.

Got a few spots like that here in N. Ali-bama, too. I usually set my cruise control at about 73-74mph in 70mph limit areas and most of the time that keeps me in the right lane, the left lane is where the crazies live.

Oh, and JtC, just wondering where you picked up the term ‘flatlanders’ from? Is it common out there (I learned the term from a Science Fiction series I was fond of; in fact one of the books is called “Flatlander”.)

Coppertone, sounds like a good time (and a good meal) was had by all. A resident right at the entrance to my sub-division has about 3-4 of the large blowup things kids love and a mob of young’ns, must be somebody’s birthday today.

Flyboy, I think you are a wise man letting your wife go ahead and staying out of her way. At least you’re not counting flowers on the wall or playing solitare with a deck of 51…(old geezer reference).

Cookie, not a big fan of Art Museums either, more into Science and History.

FCM, glad you had a nice day out with the family (outside of the &^&^% breaker). And that fearlessness is nice, but going to get the lad in trouble one of these days.

Alright, need to finish the evening internettin’ and maybe get a (small) bite to eat, so all y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Had a bit of family time today. Always good entertainment. This time a new comer was added in.

He held his own and is an animal lover. Bodes well.

I cleaned. I napped. I laundered. I’m having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned while the poke loin cooks. Spot is sulking in my bed, since he hasn’t licked a cranium in 15 hours.

Josef Newgarden, on a last lap pass of Pato O’Ward. “He had a pair of great big ones to try that.” - Aussie driver.

Yay!

Tired. Not even 10 p.m. and seriously considering going to bed.

Heard some fireworks last night - actually saw a bunch on my way home, which was cool - and I can hear the locals gearing up their gunfire dazzling patriotic displays already.

Luckily, everything is soaked & drippy, so while I’m sure someone will blow their thumb off, there’s little chance of anyone’s roof catching fire.

We had a big ol’ frog-strangler mid afternoon (I mean, coming down by the buckets for a few minutes) and apparently most of the locals went, “Screw goin’ to the lake … let’s just order pizza!” Things went from 0 to 90 in a hurry for a while there.

Anyway, Monkey has a brand-new clean poopin’ box - I really hate scented litter, but that’s all they had, dammit - and the biiiiiig bin (complete with former stinky-in-a-different-way box) has been rolled to the curb.

Someone sent me a gift, and I think it was one of y’all, but my dumb brain can’t figure out whom to thank.

So, thank you, whoever you are.

Yep. We watched the race when NBC finally shifted from (stupid) golf.

That must have been so much fun!

Out this way, the speed limits in the interstate are just suggestions. I’m also one of those who set my cruise control for not much over the speed limit and stay in the right lane. If I have time, I like to not get on the freeways at all, you can see so much of the country driving the back roads.

My childhood dog was a Sheppard mix who would PANT in our faces if Mom thought we would be late to school.

Thank you. His folks were the youngest in their generation, so many of the family things got passed on to them. They both died less than a year apart, I knew Hubs wasn’t really thinking straight cause grief often does that to people.

I’m glad that you had a good day, and that the visiting pups made MIL happy.

Oh gosh, I can’t remember when I first heard it, but yeah, it is common up this way and I should probably stop using it. Phx and the metro area is flat. Like really flat and prone to flooding if they get rain. Flatlanders is a rather dismissive term for people who choose to live in the crowded big city at the base of the mountain.

I’m pretty sure I not only read the book “Flatland”, I owned a pulp copy of the Abbot book at one time. It was my favorite romance in all dimensions!

TC friend is a hospice nurse and has asked for the hospital bed we have posted for sale. She did finally pick up her freezer and trike, plus I know that she is going to give the bed to a client so I said she could have it for free as long as she picks it up by Wednesday.

GG is not going to be happy at all, he likes to sleep there in the afternoons so I can reach back for some kitty rubbing as needed.

The excitement continues, clean sheets, and new comforter on the bed. No alarm clock for tomorrow.

It is crazy town here.

Hub’s crazy pants friend used to fire off a home made black powder canon twice a year. That thing was so LOUD that it woke everyone in the town up. I kept telling him to stop doing it because he was going to shoot his eye out.

That’s not what happened, he blew off his right thumb and forefinger.

For some reason, he thought I was quite the bitch because I had NO sympathy for him. Same with Hub’s friend who shot himself in the foot many years ago. I have never had sympathy for anyone who got hurt by FAFO.

Would that be the Keith Haring exhibit at the Walker?
I actually like his style, though there’s a bit of… sameness to his works. I probably don’t need to see a whole exhibition of his stuff in person.

Yup, and yup.
