Goooooood morning from the soggy Great Plains. Got up early to listen to NPR’s Weekend Edition. My little brother Tom was the guest solver with the Puzzle Master Will Shorz this week on ‘Sunday Puzzle’.
My brother always was a bit of a ham but he got all the answers (but then, so did I and on several of the clues, I blurted out the answer first so, there, kid!).
I am looking forward to that part. I was still working when we moved here so hubs did most of the unpacking. He’s 12 inches taller than me, I’m sure you can figure out the issue, LOL!
Whoo whoo! How fun, I’ll bet you were laughing with delight the entire time.
It appears I’m having a day of sloth. I’m out of packing paper and just cannot bring myself to go into town. This is a big “go up north” holiday weekend and the 69 will be packed with flatlanders who are used to driving 90 mph instead of the 70 mph the law calls for. (Actually, the speed limit is 65…)
Hubs got out in his bike barn and sorted and cleaned and packed, so that’s done.
When his parents died, I thought he was throwing away things (marriage certificates, birth certificates, school records for that generation) he would want later so I took some stuff and put it in a storage bin in the back of the shed. He was out in the big shed a few days ago and was shocked and happy to find his grandparent’s marriage license. I told him that he could keep or toss whatever he wanted now and he didn’t seem inclined to toss anything so I’m glad I saved it.
He said it was OK for me to give NF his number. She’s not eligible for the distribution, but he still needs someone to come and get eggs. He has 9 laying chickens and they lay eggs according to the sun. Now that it’s summer, he gets up to a dozen eggs a day.
Afternoon all. Have dined at Texas Roadhouse and then came home and stopped resisting temptation and ate the 3 remaining cookies I bought yesterday, so have gone from 0 to about 2600 calories in a couple of hours. Gym is definitely indicated, Sunday and Monday are my ‘bad’ days calorie-wise, but I do try to manage them better. Up to 86F already, might make it to 90F today.
OK, and I did buy a new number combination lock for the gym, so far it’s working well and I haven’t forgot the number, so the key-lock is only in my bag as a backup.
BBBoo, my con-grats to your brother, need to remember to listen to Weekend Edition more often.
Yep, have it on my schedule for Wednesday.
JtC, that was a forward-looking thing you did, glad Hubs appreciated it.
Now need to move this calorie-laden body out of the comfy chair and onward to the gym. And a good afternoon/evening to all.
When my daughter was interning at the Phoenix Art Museum in 2006, I visited her and took a short trip up to Sedona. Seemed like there was NO speed limit on the interstate back then. I was driving between 75 and 80 and people were passing me like I was standing still.
my friend’s hens are the same. So, she kept the very few eggs that they laid during the winter. Supply is way up now so I can have all Hubs and I can eat (or give to daughter when she comes for a visit).
Church was wonderful as always.
Kickball for the young ones, and grill.
I am surprised my hair doesn’t smell like it.
Had one and a half burgers, a hot dog, and now must lie down to digest!
Also brought a burger and dog home.
I’m a carnivore today.
Mrs. L.A. is still/again working on the bathroom. We’ve got the barn door off, and she wants to caulk it and put on more paint. Everything’s out of the bathroom, and she’s going to sand. I think she’ll wait until tomorrow to paint, but I’m not sure.
Me? Ain’t doin’ nuttin’. WatchingThe Dirty Dozen, playing backgammon, looking at the computer…
I worked for a couple of hours. Now I’m just sitting here trying to avoid things. Like, for instance, my mother appears to be mad. I’m not sure if it’s just at the world or something more specific. I’m trying to do better not adopting other people’s problems, but it’s hard.
I’m kinda hungry. Maybe I’ll go figure out what’s going to be for dinner…
It’s rained here most of the day too. I made a big pot of caldo for Sunday dinner and it is hitting the spot. Nelson has been bathed and is now sporting his new collar. It’s amazing how much rolling in the grass will make for a grimy dog.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, got back to da cave, et sammiches and then had quality cee-mint pond time. Now we are inside and showered. I made coleslaw for tomorrow’s Memorial Day menu of dawgs, baked beans, slaw, and apple pie. We gone do us some all Amurrkin eatin’ tomorrow!
Boo tres cool for little bro! Of course you are smarter than him.
VanGo that sounds like me. I will spend two or three days sayin’ I should mow, and then, one magical mornin’ I get up and say “I will mow today!” That’s how it gets done at da cave.
JtC good for you savin’ those memories for hubs.
doggio durin’ my mispent youth I was awakened to head lickin’ from time to time. I’ll leave that up to your filthy imagination.
Coppertone score on the burgers and dawgs! We have a humongous gas grill at the church house and sometimes I am grill master when we do stuff. Always fun for me.
Another day of do-nothing. The biggest effort was breakfast. I made breakfast tacos containing hash browns, scramble and some canned chili. Wasn’t bad.
The wife wanted to go to a nearby art museum to see an exhibit of the works of. . .someone. A lot of his stuff looked like something a six year old would do. I’m not a real fan of museums, and this one makes me feel ill. I mean, literally. There’s something about the lighting in there that makes my brain do weird shit. So we didn’t stay long, thankfully.
Other than watching the T-wolves trying not to fail again later, that’s about it for this Sunday.
Home from the marina. FCD and I blew out the breaker for the dock (oooops!) and after that, we just kinda quit. Daughter brought the kids to swim and they were having a blast. Roxy made some friends and Tobias was climbing out and jumping in - he didn’t care if he went under - the lad is fearless! Fortunately, he had a floaty vest on, and, of course, Daughter was right there. But he’s much braver in the water than his sister was at that age. Both of them need swim lessons now.
MIL sat and listened to her audiobook and she got to visit with a couple of pups, which made her day. And she said a few people stopped to chat with her, so that was nice.
It’s good to be home, tho. Even tho I didn’t do a lot, I’s tahred. We had lunch at Red Robin and none of us are inclined to have supper. Maybe some cheese-n-crackers later? Chillage now, tho.
I thought of you the entire time, with your NYTimes crosswords. He won a NPR weekend Edition mug, a crossword dictionary, new scrabble game and some other public radio swag.
