(Old, thankfully.) Just call it pee-pee ‘cause it’s all your’n MMP

Evening all. Have calmed down considerably, got the message out to all my soccer parents and haven’t heard of anyone showing up and wondering were I was, so that at least went as planned. Defrosted and ate a Cheeseburger for dinner and have been catching up on You Tube vids for the greater part of the evening (5 more to go). Temperature is already below 70F so another night off for the AC. May open a couple more windows to let the whole house air out.

Flyboy, nice pics, never lived near the oceans so never saw that many, but need to make sure I add them to the bucket list. And where did the Mrs. get the pizza from…sounds like a place to revisit sometime soon.

Hippie, nice work, I would never have the patience to do that.

Shoe, sounds like someplace that needs workers…but you seem happy where you are and guessing that management doesn’t mind overworking folks, so maybe not a great match. And glad the kid turned out well, hope he gets through this OK.

We had a very large Play area at the park I coach soccer at. A few months ago they tore the whole thing down and are slowly reconstructing it. Bad part is that it took away about 1/3 of the parking spots and made Saturday parking a bit of an adventure.

red, good luck with the interview.

Real Fish, I’m just hoping I remember how to drive the darn thing… And {{{ }}} to all on what appears to have been a trying day.

Cool Hand, you’re welcome to drop in anytime, and FWIW I got it…after repeating it 2-3 times…

Pilot, shoe, I always go to the same Jersey Mike’s on Monday, usually am one of their first customers and some of the folks know my order on sight, so I always make sure I have cash for the tip jar.

Ok, need to finish up You Tubing, watch a little tackleball and dream of driving my own car sometime soon. Take care all.

I lived in San Diego until I was 15, lived in L.A. County and then L.A. after that, and now we live on the Salish Sea. I’ve never lived very far from salt water.

Sahara Pizza.

Mrs. L.A. said she’s not going to bother with regular pizzas. Their Gourmet Pizza was really good.

Welcome to the madhouse! Don’t worry about wandering topics, that’s normal in here. Mentioning pets tends to earn requests for pictures.

My day was generally low-key irritating, and got worse when I misplaced my debit card during a grocery stop (note to self: take the damn purse and wallet into the store next time instead of putting the card in the pants pocket!). Must call that grocery store again in the morning to see if it got located. Otherwise, I get to spend quality time dealing with the credit union call center I couldn’t get through to this evening. At least there’s no unauthorized account activity.

DH had his little heart set on McDonald’s, so he got to do the fast food run, between my misplaced card, an abnormal amount of trouble getting rid of afterimages after part of my trip home had me driving due west, and my general mood.

Hey, as long as I have your attention, I have a complaint. You have a new puppy and have only shared ONE picture of the lil cutie pie. His adoring fans deserve more!

I love those, they allowed me to work in a government air conditioned office year round.

Absolutely!

I can certainly understand that!

One of the main reasons we can’t leave the state is because our cats didn’t like their dinner time changing twice a year back when we were in CA and I am certain they wouldn’t like it any better now.

The candy binkies teens wear around their necks make me think of going back to my car and getting my cane.

How very scary. Thank goodness someone yelled, I hope nobody else gets attacked. You are a very good friend to go with her.

Spending one of your rare days off in bed is about as productive as you should be. Good rest includes not doing shit just because.

Every time my car has to stay at the dealers for service, they have had a shuttle available to get me to work and back to pick up my car. Is that an option in your area?

OMG, those are fabulous! Of course the 12th one took no time at all, by that time it was set in stone and you could have done it in your sleep.

Try fried or baked cheese snacks, the cooking process removes many of the allergy triggers.

Do not try vegan cheese. It won’t trigger your allergies but the sodium content in just one serving is way too high to be good for anyone. (I know this because I used to make and sell it, horrible stuff from start to finish.)

Well, dang. I am so sorry.

Oh gosh, how fun. The 3-ish added miles will take much longer with all of the extra traffic.

When I was in Okinawa I was able to teach myself conversational Nihongo by watching English dubbed TV and movies and then by practicing it on anyone I could. I can’t read it for shit, but I can still translate full length magna shows.

I don’t think we really need to cross appendages cause I am positive she is going to just nail it, no luck needed. (crosses fingers behind back)

Today was spent porchinating. Coffee was enjoyed and birds were watched. The seasons are changing and the birds have started their migrations. We have a Rufus hummer hanging around and those little shits are so entertaining. We have two feeders and he is just wearing himself out trying to defend both of them.

Factoid: The Aztec warriors were all very fierce fighters and were ranked into 10 (I think) different castes. The fiercest of all of the warriors weren’t in the Jaguar clan, they were in the Hummingbird clan because they knew those little shits were the baddest of bad.

And…hubs just weighted VBC…and she has lost 1.2 lbs in two weeks. If she didn’t already have an appointment on Wednesday, she would be visiting the emergency vet tomorrow. Sudden weight loss is what alerted us when Fred went diabetic, hopefully that is all that is going on with VBC.

I think I’m going to go out and listen to the bats ping for a while.

Thanks all for the compliments

What? You’re still here? I thought I took care of that this morning… < wanders back into the Fog of Brain… >

:woman_facepalming:

It’s because I only have the ones I already posted! Ollie is busy. Busy and practically a full-time job. I look around and realize my entire life has been overtaken by 7 pounds of stomach surrounded by boundless exuberance. And teeth!!

From the new (so far not very successful) grooming arm now attached to my breakfast bar to the badly chewed hem of the t-shirt I’m currently wearing, the selection of special treats and toys fast accumulating in the window nook, the badly abused and worn pink doughnut toy forever underfoot that a dear friend gave the little delinquent just a couple weeks ago, the newly-acquired angry scratch marks on the inside of my right forearm garnered while attempting yet again to clip someone’s toenails (unsuccessfully, I must add), life is now… different.

Aforementioned friend was tasked by her husband to take lots of pics during her visit. She couldn’t do it. Unless restrained, Ollie doesn’t hold still. Ever. If left to his own devices, there’s no throw rug he won’t drag around, no curtain he won’t pull, no tablecloth he won’t tug to try and perform a certain magic trick. Somehow it never works and just upsets the candles that sit atop the little table. Then he chews the candles.

Want to catch Ollie when he’s feeling mischievous? You can’t! Funnest thing ever: Skip, jump, dash and twirl juuuusssstttt out of reach. Bonus points if her face turns red while she tries to catch you!

My life now: I’m either taking Ollie out for a widdle and/or a poo, feeding Ollie so there can be more poos, walking Ollie for exercise in a vain effort to wear him out, playing endless games of fetch with him, attempting to teach him manners and/or tricks (hah!), bathing him, taking him for drives to help him over his motion sickness, trying to get him accustomed to having his paws handled so I can get those @((@@!! sharp toenails trimmed, or stuffing him in his crate for awhile so I can go run errands to keep the household running.

At least he lets me brush his teeth.

Therefore no pics. They’re just blurs.

Ollie is a corker, that’s for sure! Aren’t you glad you asked?

I promise, I’ll keep trying. So far, every time I’ve attempted to introduce a camera, the effort ends within 10 seconds and me saying, “Don’t eat that!”

My very best to you all, who, whether you realize it or not, are always a bright spot in my day.

Thank you kindly!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Welcome!

Then we want blurs!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 58 (BRRR! There may be an iceberg in the cee-mint pond!) Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 86 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. I can hardly contain myself. We must, of course, also sloth, nap and day drink. Sup shall be pepper steak 'n rice, sallit, and garlic bread. Easy to fix and nummy.

Cool Hand welcome to the MMP. You post once, you become a Mumper. Do come back and regale us with all the fascinatin’ details of your life. Or make fart jokes. We’re good either way.

Bright Tree Ollie sounds like three hands full of doggo! Plus we do want to see more pics, or blurs, whichever you can manage.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

My mom hates them, too - she’s always made a “comment” about them, and I know she was dying to snatch them away.

But she also claimed she never had 2 children in diapers at once, which means I’d have been potty trained around 15 months. Nope, sorry, not buying it - not after what I’ve observed. I’ll let her have her delusions, tho.

Woke at 1, read a bit, fell back to sleep after 2:30, up at 6. Good times… Today will be a laundry day since I’ll have Tobias. He can destroy the basement while I listen for the dryer to buzz. I might even get brave enough to take him outside. It’s supposed to be a really nice day - maybe we’ll go to a playground for a coupla hours.

MetalMouse - I’ve been meaning to ask about your trek to the bottom of the world - specifically for wardrobe recommendations. We won’t be setting foot on the ice continent, but we’ll be cruising around the peninsula for 2 or 3 days. What would be appropriate attire for balconatin’ during those days? It looks like our port stops feature average highs in mid-50s, so that’s easy to plan for.

Apart from deciding what to pull out of the freezer for supper, my day is pretty much set.

Happy Tuesday!!

Mornin’ everyone.

It is 51F, dark and cloudy outside. The expected high temp is 68F with partly cloudy skies and occasional rain showers in the overnight hours.

nellie, how scary! I’m glad you could be there for your neighbor, but now I worry for you both! I hope they catch the guy! Also, hurray for drop-in visits from the kiddos!

That’s very nice work, hippie!

Good luck with the interview, red!

When I was little, my mom would say pee-pee, but she has a German accent, so it sounded shorter and more staccato.

Work was the usual, but I survived. First thing this morning, I need to craft and send an email to my boss and the SD explaining lease issues and progression at two different office sites. One concerns parking, and the other concerns where we are in the process of either moving or staying at a different location. There was a bunch of hurry-up and sit on these meetings, outlining our needs, signing documents, etc., and then nothing at all happened. No communication, nothing. After several emails to the leasing people there is now a bunch of hurry up and sign this, delineate that, and we’ll get back to you.

That was just a very small part of yesterday.

Tomorrow will be another in-office day, but I plan to get out of there on time because I got out of the office later than usual yesterday, and the commute was pretty bad because it was right in the middle of rush hour, and the traffic stops on I-5 for no reason at all. I then have to hop off onto a state highway, which is even worse than I-5 and is almost always congested with stop-and-go traffic. It’s part of the reason I leave so early in the morning because I don’t want to fight all that in the morning, too.

I need to finish my coffee and load a couple of dishes in the dishwasher and then run it. After that, I’ll log onto my work laptop and start the day. Who knows? Maybe today will be smooth! One can hope.

As an added bonus to the detour to town, it means that my street is the designated detour route.

Unfortunately no, this is a local garage and not the dealers, so I’m on my own.

Since you’ll be staying on the ship, you won’t need the extensive coat and boots and gloves my cruise provided. Most important advice I can give is wear layers of clothes, bring the best mittens/gloves you have, and try to have some water-proof outerwear (for boating people like you and FCD this should not be hard to come by). Might want to consider a set of thermal undies/longjohns if you’re going to be outside for extended periods. and of course face protection. The biggest problem being outside is the wind chill; besides the wind, the ship is moving and that can lower the factor even more. That said, the temperatures when I was there were usually in the 10’s and 20’s F, so cold but not ridiculously so. I would note that since both of you are sailors, seasickness shouldn’t be a problem, but the Drake passage will probably be rough, even on a large cruise ship. And I’d guess your cruise line will probably tell you all that, but since you asked…

VanGo, hope the traffic doesn’t inconvenience you to badly.

Bright Tree, your comments are the reason while I love dogs, I would do badly as an owner of one. Just have to pass out my skritches when I have the opportunity.

JtC, best wishes for VBC; could it be an effect of GOC’s passing?

Nettie, hope the card turns up soonest.

Well, stuck at home until I hear from the auto repair shop. Hope to have the 7 year old soccer practice tonight if I get the car back soon enough. It’s 70F outside and only due to get to 82F, so Fall may finally be arriving. Grass will need mowage sometime this week, but not in a rush for it. No rain in the forecast for at least a week, so may have to do one more yard watering before we’re done. Outside of that I will emulate swampy and work on my slothing abiliites.

Have a good 2sday all.

ARRRRRRR! It be Talk Like A Pirate Day! And much loot was heaved. Tis time for slumber, followed by grog. Unless the ship’s cat continues with the across deck zoomies.

Green sea turtles are making a comeback south of Los Angeles : NPR

MARGOLIS: Scientists have been surprised to see this many of them here. It’s something that they still need to study to better understand. But they think that this highly developed area might be kind of a strange sort of turtle oasis. There’s lots of algae to eat. The concrete walls seem to keep the water warm, and…

FAHY: An area like this that is relatively quiet other than the freeway noise, that doesn’t have vessels, that doesn’t have people with hooks and line, is actually a really good, protected area.

MARGOLIS: And as their population expands and waters warm due to climate change, the turtles could keep going further north, giving scientists an opportunity to study these resilient animals in totally new habitats.

Q: Why don’t pirates shower before they walk the plank?
A: Because they’ll just wash up on shore later.

I hasten to add to my previous account that I live in a pretty safe neighborhood. In fact, yesterday the dispatcher hadn’t heard of “our” park because they never get any crime reports here. My friend decided not to give in to fear and walked her usual route yesterday evening…but she carried mace, a whistle, and a small knife.

I got a surprise visit from Ms. Dog and her person yesterday. Once again, Ms. Dog dragged her over here. She got a biscuit and a drink of water and lots of scritches. (Ms. Dog, not her person.) On my way to the gym , I ran into a neighbor who has a sweet pit bull who loves to give hugs and get scritches, so I got my Vitamin D(og) yesterday.

Pacifiers II: Did you know that the opposition to pacifiers began when a researcher decided–on no real evidence–that pacifiers led to, uh, self-pleasuring? I’m not opposed, and the current research is that they’re beneficial: they not only soothe discomforts; they Academy of Pediatrics recommends them at nap- and bedtime to prevent SIDS. But while my daughter was a fan, my son was not. I wish he had been. A binky might have helped the worst case of colic in history.

As for teens and binkies, I just roll my eyes. No matter how sophisticated they may be (or try to be), most teens have one foot firmly planted in childhood. If I flipped through channels to get to the news and passed SpongeBob, students would beg to watch. I put scented stickers on A tests (longish story), and the other kids would plead for some. I had regular bandaids and Snoopy, Hello Kitty, and Spiderman varieties. I never ran out of the plain ones, but the others required regular refills. No hangnail was too small, no paper cut too shallow. Growing up is scary and more complicated than they’d thought. And hey, at least they’re (mostly) not wearing pacifiers because they’re using Ecstasy or meth.

Taters, I don’t know how anyone does your job without smacking people upside the haid. I hope today is smooth as silk.

MetalMouse, that’s insane about the repairs and having to spend $100 to Uber home. And why did they call you before they were done doing a final check? Hmph.

Bright Tree, your puppy sounds so sweet and so exhausting!

Question: what does “shiver me timbers” mean, exactly? That is, what timbers are we referring to, and how does one shiver them?

Hah! Best one I’ve heard yet! Also, glad you’re here.

Well, a day slaving over a hot computer sums up my time so far. But good news beckons, they are doing the test drive and hopefully in about 10 minutes I can Uber over there and finally reclaim my car…and in time for soccer practice.

Nellie, ended up paying only $35 for the Uber, I checked when 2-3 flights had arrived and the demand was high. 20 minutes later it was much lower and the prices were more reasonable.

Need to go get dressed properly for going to an auto-repair shop. Take care all.

Well, it turned out I’d picked up a screw with the right front tire. I was afraid of that. $215 for a new tire. I just bought all four a little over a year ago. Better to find it now than to have the tire blow out on the freeway, though.

I read “brats” as horrible kids rather than tasty sausage. It brought some very disturbing visions to mind.

I think if I’d taken away BtY’s thumb, I’d have been in trouble with CPS.

We had a gorgeous one in one of the parks here. Huge, wooden, all sorts of different bells and whistles and places for parents to sit comfortably. Then they tore it down and replaced it with a plastic monstrosity. I hated it.

Immersion is one of the best ways to learn. I just don’t have anyone to speak with or correct me. So i can read and understand s fair amount. Maybe ib need to find some subbed Polish shows.

Oh yeah. CtE still has the pillow they’ve slept with since they were around 18 months and sleeps with it nightly. BtY had strings that used to be good pillow that is his safety self- soother. Those I don’t plan on ever making them give up. And both kids still regularly ask for plushes for birthdays and holidays. I’m glad my kids still get to be kids for a little while longer.

Today has been both busy and slow, great and frustrating. I had to bring everyone in because we’re still iffy about the car. Hubby needed to be on campus today, as did I. I had a study to participate in at 9. I sat in the van, listening to Critical Role and playing on my phone. When the study was done, I moved the van and sat outside and enjoyed the sun while drinking a mango yuzu from Panera. I also found out that the guy that keeps insisting he wants to spend time with me was again canceling on me. 4th time in a row. So that got a bit hard.

I was scheduled to give blood today - O- and CMV-, so I try hard to do give whenever I’m eligible. I thought everything was going to go well but my blood decided that it needed to stay in my body just after I had started to fill one of the bags. Which didn’t count because it wasn’t a full pint but counted enough that I can’t donate again until November. I’m disappointed, but I tried.

Now I’m just sitting outside again, waiting for Hubby to leave work so we can head home. At least it’s a gorgeous enough day that waiting out here isn’t a problem.
