(OLD) The Dessert MMP!

I took a walk earlier, but no dog. and it’s now raining.

“I refuse to act happy, no matter how well you treat me.” - Spot(Who likes to snack on dog food, between sucking down cat food)

I suddenly craze pizza.

Yay for Bailey coming home, Oopsie!

Since I didn’t retain much in the last 36 hours, I’m starting back at the beginning of the thread. (Yes, I’m punishing someone. I think that someone is me.)

I hope both the training session and the exercise class went well for you, and that Shadow has meds!

Considering mine has been whatever I can grab in drive thru lately, you’ll find absolutely no judging from this corner!

Oh, I remember those days. I hated those days.

Hubby and the kids use 2 knives to make PBJs. It breaks my brain wondering why they would be making more work for themselves. (Me, I spread the peanut butter on one slice of bread first, then use the second slice of bread to wipe the excess peanut butter on, then get the jelly and smear it all over the second slice. 1 knife, no troubles.)

You’ll definitely deserve a break after all that work. Getting the degrees you need to go where you want to is fine and dandy, but you gotta slow down and enjoy for a bit to. (Says the woman who never got her own bachelor’s, but have watched lots of other people going for advanced degrees. So take my words however you want - including taking them out to the trash heap.)

Yep. Me too. I’ve been very bad of late, stopping at Sonic and getting one of their $2 ice cream sundaes and having that be my breakfast. I’ve really gotta stop.

Proud. Definitely proud.

Crossing fingers and toes that you’ll have everything organized once the shelves are up.

I was again perturbed that it was Monday. Spot and I have more in common than a cat and a fish should have.

Definitely a good feeling. I’ve learned that sometimes, you’ve got to cheer the little wins. It helps keep you going for the bigger ones.

FCM, the boat is definitely coming along nicely! Sounds like there’s a fair amount to do, but I’m just amazed at everything you’ve done so far.

Me too. My dad commented this morning that there was never anything good in the news. I pointed out Tucker Carlson was gone from Fox and, IMHO, that’s some of the best news we could have gotten!

We’re good at listening to funk reasons. At least, I know I try to be. If you ever want to talk out your funk, I’m more than happy to open my DMs. And you are not an unpleasant whiner on the Dope. Everyone has a right to get out whatever they’re feeling. And we are here to listen.

God Bod, that looks delicious! I want to give that a try, but I’m not sure if anyone else in my house would eat it. Hubby and the kids are strange beings that don’t care for cooked fruit. And extra hugs to help with the pain. And yay for the college application! I remember sitting on mine for a bit * mumblemumblemumble * years ago.

Shoe, yeah on being productive! I need to do all of those things… well, not the bill and not the half-killed joint. But the laundry and dishes, totally need to.

flyboy, I’m sorry that the fixing meant having to buy more things. I hope you were able to find the carpet sliders.

VanGo, that sounds like… wow. That’s a lot of work, but well done work from the sounds of it.

Grilled cheese is my “I’m feeling like crap and I need food to make me feel better” meal. So I certainly see no problems with that dinner last night!

SCAdian, I’m both too far south and too surrounded by light pollution to see anything cool. I’m hoping that one day, I might.

JtC, I did some things that were… probably not the best thought out… when I was younger. But that one never crossed my path. (Though I will not confirm or deny that it’s mostly probably because no tazer ever crossed my path.)

Poor Her Ladyship! Is it possible that it’s not food poisoning but some other bug? I haven’t known food poisoning to last that long. I hope she gets feeling better sooner rather than later.

(Belatedly saw that Boo said the same thing I was thinking. But she’s got more cred on that than I do, so listen to her!)

metal mouse, glad you got a chance to sleep in your own bed again! As for mixing Cat Glove and I up, no biggie. If I have to be confused with someone, having it be someone as sweet as her is a good one!

BooFae, a rental cat sounds very cool. We’ve got some cat cafes in the area but I’m always afraid that if I go in, I’ll come out with a cat.

Asprin that sounds really rough. I’m sorry someone else not doing their job properly meant more work for you.

We’d planned on doing that with our D&D group when 3 of the five of us left Nashville, but it never happened. Part of me wants to look for a new group, while the other part doesn’t want to recreate Naivara, my dark elf assassin, for a third time. I am still enjoying writing for my homebrew group from 17 years ago again, so it’s something.

I’m not sure about others, but I like to hear about the good things going on in other people’s lives when I’m having a bad time. I don’t see it as gloating but sharing among friends. And if you can’t share the good and the bad, then you aren’t giving as fully as you can.

Oopsie, I was going to ask where in Jersey you were headed (Hubby grew up in Cherry Hill, so I’ve gotten to know that part of the state fairly well.) I’m glad that it was a relatively easy trip and visit. Drama-free family meetups are always a good thing. And yay for the quick removal of Bailey’s bump! I hope she’s feeling better at home.

metal mouse, glad that some of the baseboard can be reused. Saving dollars is a good thing.

wheelie, OUCH! I’ve done those kind of hits before and they are never good. Somehow, they’re worse when you don’t do serious damage. Definitely let Murphy have a couple days of quiet while you heal.

Cheffie, I’d be looking for a new doctor at this point. Doctors that can’t get their act together, especially when they have people on life-saving medication, shouldn’t be given business. But that’s just my 2 pennies.

teela, my Dad is running into a lot of the same kind of “What’s this now?” with Medicare. He’s got something like three different insurances and none of them want to pay for a damned thing. Good luck in getting yours sorted!

I’ll admit, I probably would have done the same. I was driving a rental hybrid and it all just confused me trying to figure out what was doing what.

swampy, yay for wheels in motion. It’s good having some in motion while your primary wheels are not.

FCM, I’m thoroughly convinced, having taught ages 2-4 for Parent’s Day Out, that the terrible twos start at around 18 months and end around… well, CtE is 17… Sorry that Tobias was in a mood today, but glad that you got a little respite from the Angry Kidling.

doggio, still sending out those “Darci, please come home!” vibes in here general direction, wherever that might be.

My day was a bit long. Had to go pick up Dad and bring him back to town for his doctor’s appointment. I messaged him when I was on the way, and he knew that I was coming, yet he was still asleep when I got there. He thought it was still around 4am. But he was able to get dressed fairly quickly, though we had a pause moment when he was listening to his voice mail messages. Apparently, the reviewed the appeal again and disagreed with the initial assessment. So Dad could have stayed in rehab. Saying “You won” a week and a half after discharge doesn’t help anyone.

Talking to his doctor today, it was good to hear someone else telling him that he can’t be skipping dialysis if he wants to stick around, and that he needs to talk to his kidney doctor because between his kidney doctor, his PCP, the hospital and rehab, he’s on far more meds than he needs. He’ll see his doctor at dialysis in the morning, so that’s the plan. The other thing that actually made me feel kinda better, strange as it sounds, was the fact that the doctor told him that if he does just get tired of it all and want to stop, to call his office so they can get him set up with hospice. It may be cowardly, but I’m glad that’s not something I’ll have to do on my own.

After the doctor, we stopped for a little grocery shopping, then I took him home (with a brief stop to grab Micky D’s for late lunch), got his groceries and headed out so I wouldn’t get stuck in rush hour traffic coming through Nashville. I got home a little after 5 and have been typing this up and chatting online since then. Now I’m debating just kicking back, relaxing into my evening with a good book and some Apple Kinky to sip on.

Oh, and ice cream. There’s some in the house, so some must be in my belly. Have a great night/day/whatever-time-it-is-when-you-read-this!

Yeah, we’re leaning that way ourselves.

Heck, Dallas-El Paso is a 90 minute drone in a jet at cruise for Og’s sake. I’m not talkin’ taking off and landing. Just boring a hole in a straight line from 6 miles above Dallas to 6 miles above El Paso or vice versa. And a dismal one-hour drone at that. Plus the thirty-plus minutes it took to get from the Louisiana border to abeam Dallas just to get into position to start the 1.5 hours onwards to El Paso. Shudders indeed.

Texas. It might be big, but it’s also flat, barren, and dusty. And brown. Did I mention brown?

Must be related to you. I can just see him thinking:

We’re burnin’ daylight here folks! Time to get started on Terrible-ing; Lots to get done and not much time to do it! Gramma’s gonna be so proud of me today! [Evil giggle.]

Yaay! Concrete progress on something, anything, is about the best medicine for betrayal.

At my end today was productive with solo Latin American breakfast out and errands early then admin in the middle and slothage late.

Received the tax refund paper check from the IRS for my late MIL’s final tax return. Which enables closing her PO Box. So in the last just over 18 months I’ve closed out my first wife’s life, my MIL’s life, sold my prior residence, sold or trashed substantially all my old possessions and started afresh on a new life in a new albeit nearby 'burb with a wonderful new lady. This tax refund, nominal though it was, was the very last piece of paper from my / our old life. Progress!

Her Ladyship is back to normal today. Eating BRAT gingerly, no queasiness, and sucking down Pedialyte. She has always had a somewhat fragile and slow-to-recover stomach and will take 3 or 4 more days to ease back into her normal everyday diet. Which is far less limited than my diabetic one. She’s just always uber-cautious about the slightest hint of spoilage or under-doneness because those really tear her up.

We just got done watching the animated movie / opera The Nightmare Before Christmas. Can recommend. Very cute, but aimed at adults not kids. And now ominous thunder booms outside.

I am on call for irk Wed-Fri then off Sat-Sun to close out April. We shall see what the future holds.

Cheers all!

Evening all. Repairs are finished, they did a good job and I may find a couple more things for them to do. Now for Thorsday and the Great Carpet Re-stretching. Nappage during the afternoon but did get to the gym for an hour of biking and sauna, so I didn’t feel too guilty eating my normal 2sday Mac-n-Cheese. Now for internettin’ and readin’ for the evening, maybe watch some basketball too.

Geez, keeping up with all you folks is a full-time job.

Real Fish, sounds like your Dad has a pretty good Doc; hope he decides to stick around for awhile yet. And I think you win the award for longest message of the year (so far…).

God Bod, good on ya for sending in that college paperwork.

As for TokyoBayer, some good names here, considering he’s an English teacher in Japan I think the name “Teach” might be appropriate.

Niner, congrats on the almost-there Master’s.

Wheelie, hope the hand heals soon. And amazing how much useless crap we know.

Cookie, I concur, look for a new doc. And if wife seems calm, well remember this old quote: “Beware the fury of a patient (wo)man.”

lucky, Basic Medicare (parts A and B) aren’t to hard to figure, it’s the 'Medicare Advantage" and supplementary plans that trip people up. Good luck.

OK, onward into the night. All y’all take care.

Happy Toosday!

It was a chilly 33 degrees at the park this morning.
Coco dad was there and had a pocket full of treats. Echo was acting more herself.

My son is trying to teach her to get the mail. I think it’s not going to irk, she has no interest. She used to go with Ripple when he got the mail, but nothing clicked in her little brain to get the mail too. She was happy to share the treats though.

I’m looking at puppies and rescues. I’m ready, Echo is lonely, but my son is against it.

Doggio, I hope you find Darci soon.

Nellie, I think I am the chief complainer around here.
I feel like a baby compared to what some of you go through.
If you are in a funk I may as well join you.
I’ve been in one and I’m grumpy as hell about it too.

I got shit right now that is pissing me off, and it means making phone calls.
I hate making phone calls.

MetalMouse, I’m glad you got your water problem fixed, and everything else is getting fixed and I hope it stays fixed.

I hope the rental cat works out for you BooFae

I happy Bailey made it home Ooopsie.
The inflatable collars are nice, much better than the cones.
Ripple was pretty good at getting it off in a few minutes.

TrueFish, like FCM, you make me tired just reading about your day.

Hope all goes well with the insurance and the rental truck Swampy

GodBod, breaking up is hard to do. Just ask Neil Sedaka. Or not.

JtC, you have led the most interesting life. And you survived!

Okay, I’m off to bed.
I’m tired.

That is so nice of you to say; not sure it’s entirely true but I do have my moments. Which segues me into:

So where I’m working now there are 6 men and me, the main crew, and more staff have been hired and will start working when we open for the season. The manager is the young one, the rest of us in the main crew are retired and working part-time. Young guy is getting married next week Saturday. So, I asked the other 5 men if they wanted to go in on a gift for the manager and they all said yes. I bought a card and asked them to sign and put in their free will amount. Yesterday I collected the card and the money. I had found the bridal registry so now I knew that I had $125 to work with. Macy’s is having a big sale this week. So, I went this afternoon and was able to buy products that retailed at $232.14 for $123.00. I shopped at Dollar Tree for the card and wrapping paper so the total amount that I spent was $124.86

Also went to the Fitness Center and worked out on the NuStep. Then made coleslaw and sizzler steaks for dinner. Now working on filtering water.

And only has scrub trees, more like just bushes.

Plugs are cheap. I did get the sliders. No way to make them stick (I tried double-sided tape), but they work well. I’d rather have casters because… Y-chromosome.

Texas is a big state. Visit Austin; you’ll see a lot of really big really old really beautiful trees.

Well, dang. Did you use plastic to pay for them? Sometimes the POS saves that info so the clerk can look it up for you.

Our maters seem pretty happy and the pomegranate has little leaves at the base so it will stay in it’s hole and I will pay someone to plant my mulberry elsewhere. The mesquite is starting to green up as well, so hopefully the light from the junction will be blocked by the time it’s nice enough to sit out late at night.

At least we never grew up, right!!! Sometimes I am amazed that I survived to retire.

You will be happy you were with her during this important time and can be with someone who loves you. Have a good flight.

We have found that the very best way to find our glasses repair kits (yes, that was plural) is to go to the DG and buy a new one because we couldn’t find the old ones. Once the glasses are fixed, hubs opens the tool cupboard and puts the new kit right on top of the stack of old ones. And then we laugh a lot.

There must be hope.

I’m glad you had a good trip. I’m a biker and I always get nervous when I’m surrounded by a large number of bikes because if one of them makes a mistake and bikes start tumbling, I don’t want to kill anyone with my car. I usually just get off at the closest ramp and drive around the block before getting back on the road.

I am a font of useless information as well. Probably because my mother bad influenced me so much. The trivia teams try to steal her on a regular basis.

Seriously? How is that even possible in this world of smartphones and text messages? I agree with the others, fire them and get a new doctor.

Once Steve got it, it was carved into stone. Being the best cat in the world, he also figured out that the bacon had to cook until the eggs were cracked into the pan and once he heard that happen he was right at his placemat, purring so hard he was vibrating.

Fud of the Gawds indeed!

You might want to wear a bra as well. People notice such things.

Back when I was doing graveyard shifts, we knew all the bars that opened at 8am and served burgers and fries. It was normal.

Our lil Crabby Old Cat likes to lay across my foot which makes me a lil crabby because I can’t move without disturbing him.

Go you! I sure hope you are feeling better today. Betrayal sometimes takes time to get over. I’m better at it than you, but I’m much older than you so I have a lot more practice.

Nods. You are still young, though…

Just for fun, imagine a bunch of leather clad, gun and knife wearing bikers standing in line to get tazed.

Pretty amazing when I think about it!!!

I think you need a puppy for what it is worth.

WOW!!! Good discount shopping.

My favorite part is where they’re queued up in a nice, neat, orderly line.

Usually people think of bikers as “Mayhem! Anarchy!”

(Sons of Anarchy!)

It amuses me greatly to picture burly, muscle-y, bearded, scary dudes in leather vests, with their slab biceps … all lined up neatly & politely…

… for their turn to be tazed.

Beers were held for that part.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Earlier:
Me: < is cooking >
Spot: < stares at primate in kitchen >
Me: “We can share the kitchen.”
Spot: “mew
Me: “No, seriously, I pay rent, I do chores, it’s my kitchen, too.”
Spot: “mew
Me: “Really, dude?”

Been there, done that.

no offense but get one if you want you do more for him at his age than most parents do for their special needs offspring at the same and if he doesn’t like it well you could mention he could look into paying rent and such at a place of his choosing

Actually, he does pay the bills.
Well, he helps to pay the bills. I handle all the banking, including his paycheck.
Sometimes I feel bad about taking his money, but his name is on the mortgage/house, and it will be his when I die. So, I guess he could help pay for it.
Then again, he would inherit it when I die without paying anything.
Then again, if he wasn’t living here, he’d have to pay rent somewhere else and the entire mortgage payment is about half what he would have to pay in rent, so he has a good deal.
Both of our paychecks go into the same pot.
Bill paying is probably about 50/50.
Housework, I probably do more, but he does all the heavy stuff, like vacuuming and mowing the lawn.

But, yeah, I do things for him that he should be doing himself, like driving.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN
‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and cloudy, with a predicted high of 80 and cloudy with a chance of rain. We shall see. Today we shall procure provisions and get fried chikin N.O.L.s from the Pubic Sto’. I shall also continue to deal with twuck woes. There will be sloth and general overall uselessness as well.

GodBod yay on the college app! Shall we keep appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed?

Niner congrats on completin’ the coursework! I walked for my undergrad cause the ‘rents wanted to see, but not for my masters. They were cool with just gettin’ a pic standin’ beside me as I held up the diploma. I even wore a suit for the pic.

Darci come home!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Such bother!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Frankly, the customer service desk at our Lowe’s is not the most efficient - it’s just not worth trying to deal with out-of-the-ordiinary stuff there. I’ll eat the $11 just to save the aggravation.

Threats of rain later today, so I don’t know if it’ll be a playground day or not. Guess we’ll see.

I just heard the sound of pills spilling in the bathroom and FCD moaning “Oh no!” I’m staying clear - he can gather them up . But I do wish he’d keep them in our bedroom rather than the hall bathroom. It’s a battle I can’t win.

Weird things one notices when a pet is gone - I can leave doors open without fear that Taz will bolt or get somewhere he’s not allowed. Ziva doesn’t explore - she hides behind the couch, come out to eat and poop, then hides again. So I can leave the door at the foot of the basement stairs open, I can throw dirty laundry down without fear of cat pee on it, I can go out on the porch and not have to keep opening and closing the door. It’s a new paradigm.

SIL didn’t get his license till he was mid-20s, but he seems to have adapted to it quite well. I don’t know why he was reluctant - maybe related to his anxiety issues? Anyway, there’s hope…

OK, time to start my day. Happy Wednesday!

Do you still have said pic? What did you earn your degrees in?

Looks like no chance of rain today so will walk to work. Hubs texted that he wants me to go to Einsteins and get him a toasted onion bagel with veggie cream cheese and then I can pick whatever I want for the 2 free ones. Wrapping of the wedding gifts is also on the agenda.

Hope your morning is a sunny one, figuratively or literally. :sun_with_face:

Morning all. Woke up to some rain showers, which are supposed to clear out in about an hour, so hopefully things will dry up some. 49F now heading for 67F later today, so an average spring day here in N. Ali-bama. Nothing much on the agenda, may try to do some rug cleaning in the great room while the furniture is pretty much off the carpet, but don’t want to get a machine because the carpet is not fastened down and is lacking the padding for 70% of it, so not sure if that would affect it or not. We’ll see. Also due to referee a youth soccer game at 5:30pm, we’ll see what the weather allows.

In the continuing 'where in the world is my package" that others have contributed to in the past, I bought several books on Amazon. They got shipped via something called OSM Worldwide (apparently has a deal with the US Postal service) and according to the tracking, they went from Secaucus, NJ to Glendale Heights, IL, then Grand Prairie, TX, and finally got turned over to the post office in Birmingham, Al, and will be out for delivery today. Weird routing though.

Sari, son has a certain level of responsibility in him, as noted by his working and sharing costs, but you’re still ‘the boss’ and if he can’t tolerate that, he needs to buckle down and do adult things. IMHO of course.

Cat Glove, that was a nice thing to do for your manager. Guys would have thought about it but maybe not taken charge like you did. Hope they enjoy your stuff.

…raises hand…

FCM, I doubt that “oh no” was all FCD said when the pills spilled. Been there, picked up that.

OK, need to get some sustenance and be about the day. Put my jeans in the washer early (only have 3 pairs due to my waistline shrinkage) so need to get them out and drying. All y’all take care.

Not knowing any better, I bought a FireTV for the basement. I hate it. It is very user hostile, plus it periodically deletes my logins. But it’s too new to replace. So I have to deal.

We’ll see if Tobias is in a better mood today. So far, I got an unsolicited smooch full of graham cracker crumbs. :kissing_heart:
