(Old) The Heat Is On - A Heat Wave MMP

I finally got the chickie salad all made. I’m pretty sure ironing ain’t gonna happen.

That had me scratching my head when I first read of the trikes on a boat idea. Easy enough if you have a dinghy davit but no dinghy. Otherwise Karnac predicts severe difficulties.

Good afternoon, everyone! It’s a quiet day at Casa d’Magill. Spike turns 19 today, so we followed the Pentecost service on the YouTube while I made yellow cupcakes. I then made a ganache, chilled it, whipped it up, and topped the cupcakes. Mrs Magill and Spike hung around me so they could call dibs on the beaters and bowl. The cupcakes are now chilling in the fridge downstairs; it’s too warm for the ganache.

I have just finished mixing up some potsticker filling, and the is now chilling. Spike and I will assemble them later. Spike requested we go to the local sushi joint for dinner. I’m still deciding whether I want my usual roll or if I want something like teriyaki chicken.

Tomorrow we have to get up early to put up flags. They’re calling for rain. I hope they’re wrong.

Today is National Escargots Day. Though I have eleven cans of snails in the cupboard, SWMBO prefers I grill rib-eyes and cornonnacob on the barbie.

Last year we had a pair of robins with a single chick visiting the feeder. I bought mealworms for them, and they came several times a day. The chick grew bigger and bigger, and I eventually realised that it was a cuckoo. Apparently they like robins as substitute parents and get rid of any other chicks.

I am surprised you didn’t just get your gun and blow it to hell!

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated with incense. I ended up doin’ double duty and served Chalice as one of the scheduled servers texted to say she was not feelin’ well. I survived however. The service was great and the many acolytes done good with their jobs today. Afterward we went and picked up McLunches and brought ‘em to da cave to eat. Nappage and day drinkin’ then ensued. Now ‘tis stormy out. The temp went from 87 ferrets to 79 ferrets within half an hour. There are big ka*booms happenin’ as well. Think I shall sit on the back porch with a beerverage and watch the storm for a bit and then watch some stoopid teevee.

Being a trawler, we have a mast and boom where we’ll rig up a sling to lift them on and off. Theoretically…

Happy birthday Spike!

'Twas a nice RDOS day today. I made stuffed calabacitas for supper and now need to wrap them for the freezer.

I cleaned, dusted, and vacuumed. I took out the trash and recycling. Spot has alternated sulking under beds, and going full Clockwork Orange style ultraviolence. I’m now watching the F1 race, and having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned.

I’ve forgotten to do that for the last 14,600 days.

Florida Man solution!

:bottle_with_popping_cork: :birthday_cake: :partying_face:HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPIKE!!! :birthday_cake: :bottle_with_popping_cork:

Evening all. The Golden Corral provided ample calories today, so I spent some time at the gym sweating them off. Made it home before the evening rains (should arrive while I’m writing this according to the weather maps) and have no intention of going anywhere but to bed in a few hours. Wore a ‘toe cap’ I got at Wal-Mart and was able to tread the mill for several miles without discomfort, but I’ll keep an eye on it.

Taters, hope you enjoyed your planting.

shoe, hope you’re surviving the Slam…

FCM, glad the second bike made it (and apparently right-side up). Have avoided dumping any Pepsi in the freezer (helps that mine is a side-by-side configuration), but have been known to ruin a keyboard or three due to watching my screen instead of my hands…

Nettie, younger sisters have that knack, apparently in all species…

Pilot, I also have to concentrate on my carrying duties and if my mind wanders, so does the food and drink… :scream: fortunately, not very often.

Nut, I need to check my fire alarms and CO2 alarm, haven’t changed the battery from last year yet, so need to do that. And I hope the neighbors were appreciative of your efforts on their behalf at the former place.

Mollie, Happy Spike day!

Flyboy, I’m with SWMBO on the menu.

2bob, I think Nut lives in Scotland, IIRC, so he’s not likely to be packing firearms like us crazy Americans…  (and for the record, I am American and I do not own a gun).

swampy, enjoy the stormy weather.

And think I will fix a sammich for the evening repast and then get back to some heavy-duty slothing. Take care all.

SWMBO is wise.

Had a fun quick trip to the museum to help un-clog the water feature, even though it’s my day off. My boss needed some help. We really need to come up with a good name for the thing. What to call a stream with cobbles and fossils and fun water moving things?

Dream Stream?

I’m not very good at clever names.

In house we call it “Peach cobble” since one of the rocks is one Ms Peach dug up out of my yard and I brought in to add to the mix of cobble stones.

Yes she dug up a rock and was quite proud of it. It now has a place of honor in the creek.

Howdy Y’all! Thought I would sneak in one last post before the new MMP. It’s been rainin’ steadily since my last post but the ka*booms have stopped. I foresee a soggy Memorial Day. I also have to remember to take the biiiiiig trash can down to the road tomorrow for pickup Tuesday.

Mollie I meant to wish Spike a happy birthday earlier.

Flyboy my thought was why not escargot as a starter.

VanGo how cool that Ms. Peach’s rock is a part of the water feature!

MetalMouse Waffle House is a good place to get breakfast out. WH at ten a.m. is very different from WH at three a.m. Chairs are much less likely to be thrown and fights are pretty much non-existent durin’ daylight hours.

I’m home from the capital (It was very soggy) and was planning on reading and updating but the hummingbird wars have started and I need to go sit out on the front porch and watch.

We only eat half of our steaks as it is. Would have been a bit much. Last Christmas, I made the snales Christmas Eve instead of before Christmas dinner.

Given your CDO, I would have guessed that you were ironed down to your drawers..

Pebble Creek?

Sharing a bowl of popcorn with Nelson, his lightly salted, mine with berebere seasoning mix..

So for anyone interested, if you get arrested for weed in Idaho you WILL spend at least two weeks locked up before talking to a Public Defender. (I was pretty surprised that Mom didn’t write a check, but she’s always been very firm about not bailing anyone out.)

The mom, Jackie, still lives with Mom (at almost 62 years old) and usually throws a fit when told no but is also kinda pissed off at her daughter. Jackie is a convicted felon (pot and meth) and thinks that her daughter should know better than to talk to the police.

Oh well, not my circus. I’m just enjoying the schadenfreude from afar.

It was very damp today with bouts of hard rain. I think I am going to have another Handmaid uniform made, some of the seams in my current one are showing stress and it wasn’t made to be worn at least once a week for years. OK, not years, only a year anna half, but you know…

Remembers that very early morning at WH when I followed a rather festive woman to the restroom. She made it to the stall and puked into the toilet. Then she came back to her table and finished eating her food. I always wondered if she washed her hands afterwards. :face_vomiting:

See, I was wondering why that name had gotten lost/forgotten. You have a working name, why change things?

Did you get paid for you time or do you just love the job that much?

I do miss GC. We used to visit the one in Prescott Valley and saw so many entertaining folks. And kids being allowed to stick their hands in the chocolate fountain. :face_vomiting:

Stealing this because I’m too lazy to code it myself.

Yes, Happy Birthday Spike. I’m glad you survived to be an adult. (I was a kid once, thinking back on it, I’m amazed I survived the experience.)

I would have used a ladder and a hammer but I have no respect for malfunctioning alarms no matter who owns them.

I have read about them and at first I thought that was horrible, but they are part of nature and have their own place. We have cowbirds here but they don’t kill the other chicks unless their own egg has been moved or broken. Then they break all of the eggs/kill the chicks and tear up the nest. Despite their parasitic behavior, they do care for their chicks from afar.

Hubs spills coffee on the kitchen floor almost daily. Not a lot, just a few drips that he doesn’t even notice. I notice, it is white tile!

I once and once only spilled liquid on my needlepoint. I have been using adult sippy cups so long that open glasses always make me pay attention.

That sounds like tomorrow’s breakfast, thanks for the idea!

Do you have frogs cheeping at night? We do here and I thought they were weird crickets for almost a year.

I hope your night went well and that you made lots of tips!

Leftover tuna with sweet ‘n’ sour jalapeño bits for me. My lovely wife is off on a ferry somewhere. Therefore, I hosey all the tuna.

Be sure you identify the Eject constellation before you need it or hit it accidentally.

Best of luck! I came home to the infernal beeping. We have individual alarms, and I was able to find a 9V battery. I had to walk the stepstool to that room because it weighs over my allowed limit, and my lovely wife can fold it up, which would take more abdominal strength than I’m supposed to exert.

Oh, god, I loved my mother’s ganache. Mocha buttercream ganache on a cake with apricot filling.

I thought about that, but decided on the tuna instead.

That koshka is a grahzny bratchny, but he knows his way around a chasha of moloko.

Topaz was desperately in love with a small stone I brought back from the beach and hadn’t rinsed yet. I have let her lick it.

Save yourself! Those guys are terrifying when they get up in your face.

Shiso loves it, but then she farts all night.

We have Pacific Chorus Frogs. I love hearing them in the night.

As for me, I have indulged my addiction for buying backpacks. I want to see if a well-shaped 24-liter bag will hold what I need and balance well. And, uh, I bought a pair of waterproof socks. Uhhh… I bought another pair of waterproof socks. But these are intended to be worn with water sandals, so they won’t be too hot when I’m hiking! And I had almost enough points saved up, so they were almost free!
