Something about shoe’s spontaneously failing bookshelf (OMG, BTW!) made me wonder about something else: JtC, have you found any mysterious dirt piles/utensils in the house lately??
Bailey sometimes plays with her treats before she eats them; she’ll toss them in the air. I love that she does it – playing tells me that she’s a happy dog – but these days she can’t always track where the treat winds up coming down. Watching her look for it can be pretty entertaining. I always eventually help her, and she’s always so excited to “find” it!
Last night’s Freda Payne show was…good. Clearly the woman was once a top-notch singer, but it’s also clear that she’s 82. Still, there were many solid moments and I’m really glad I went. I can only hope to be on the Blues Alley stage when I’m her age and sounding half as good! It’s a great venue, I got to catch up with some friends, and now I can say that I’ve heard her perform “Band of Gold” live. But I’m also glad that I chose the early show: I was able to hit the grocery store on the way home and still walk in my front door by 8pm.
Tonight there’s a Zoom information session on the summer Vocal Jazz Summit I signed up for a couple of weeks ago. I have a feeling the session is aimed at people who are still deciding whether to go, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to register just in case I learn something useful.
Now to catch up on a bunch of stuff from last week before diving into the current MMP…
Ha, back when I could still drink soda I was the opposite: I’d sometimes pick a place just because it had Pepsi.
The thing with GWPs is that their “price” on the Lego site will only ever be $20-30 but you can’t ever buy them: they’re only available as GWPs. As soon as a set is no longer the current GWP it’s considered “retired,” and the aftermarket price shoots up. So the Books Are My Passion set, “worth” $20 as a free GWP, cost 5x that via eBay (it wasn’t available on Amazon, where I’ve gotten other retired sets).
I do Connections and the Spelling Bee every evening. So do my BFFs, and I secretly love it whenever my single brain outperforms their combined brains!
French is the only foreign language I can listen to when it comes to TV shows/movies: it’s what I studied in school, and I enjoy challenging myself by listening to it sometimes – like with the Netflix shows L’Agence and Lupin. Always with subtitles on, though!
Did you mention to someone at the store that you’d called and asked?
You rang?
KITT!
Awww.
If it’s called a Kindle, it still uses e-ink; the tablets are called Fire (they used to be “Kindle Fire,” which was needlessly confusing). But you’re correct that the newest Kindles don’t have buttons: you have to tap the side of the screen to change the page (however, Kindle screens don’t show fingerprints the way tablet screens do). I like some of the features on the newer Kindles – like colored e-ink! – but I love being able to operate my current Kindle with one hand via buttons; I plan to hang onto it for as long as possible.
HA!
