(Old) The MMP is the place to be!

OK, just contacted Sirius - the chat function goes immediately to a virtual assistant:

Hi, I’m Harmony the SiriusXM AI-powered Virtual Assistant.
This chat will be monitored and recorded by SiriusXM and our service
providers for quality purposes. How can I assist you with your SiriusXM service today?
how much will my subscription rate go up?
I understand you’re concerned about your subscription rate. As a valued
customer, I can offer you a special deal: you can continue your current Music and Entertainment Plan for your 2024 Hyundai SANTA FE at a discounted rate of $5.99 per month for 12 months. This plan includes all the same features and programming you currently enjoy in your car, online, or on the SiriusXM app. Would you like to take advantage of this offer?
Yes
Let’s go over the details of the Music and Entertainment plan offer for the
2024 Hyundai SANTA FE.
If you choose this plan, we will replace your existing subscription with a
$5.99 per month for 12 months Music and Entertainment plan. Your new
plan starts today and you will be charged $3.90 which includes any
outstanding balance on your account. The details of this charge will be
shown on the confirmation that will be sent to your email on file within 5
days. You will be charged $5.99 for the next month and every month
thereafter for the remainder of your promotional period.
When your promotional period is over, your service will automatically renew
on 02/01/2026 and you will be charged monthly at then current rates for an
estimated total charge of $24.98 each month.

So I’ll put a reminder on Outlook for this time next year to do this again before the charge goes up. I’ve done this annually for years and I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than $10 a month. I guess they count on people not paying attention so they pay the increase without noticing. Not me, bay-bee!!!

This just arrived.

[F]ascists… aren’t exactly the brightest bulbs in the Mar-a-Lago chandelier.

The Spousal Unit actually skimmed it before I got my hands on it, and was laughing. She’s come a long way. :smiley_cat: Only 45 pages, so I should resume reading.

Waffle House is a place that serves OK food at all hours of the day. There’s actually a Waffle House index, that measures how bad storms are. If the Waffle House is closed, it’s bad, unofficially used by FEMA. Occasionally the customers get rowdy.
Waffle House fight! White girl got those hands & went Ultra Instinct!
In my time in the south I never saw anything like that, but then I was usually in at 9 am on a sunday.

Whew, I started at post 231 and just finished reading post 323. Here are a few comments:

when I saw this on the news, I immediately thought about you. Glad you are safe but grieve for those that died and were injured.

  1. Kroger is one corporation that is strong in DEI and is not abandoning this policy.
  2. Kroger employs a lot of people in your locality keeping your economy in a better place than if they closed or downsized.
  3. Bezos is now bending the knee to a pathological narcissist and gave him beaucoup $$$, some of which were from products that you purchased.
I now see that you are ordering from a source rather than through the company that treats their employees like total $hit. Good job. I started doing the same about 4+ years ago. I had the kids still do a gift wish list on the Jungle’s website then I would try to go to a local brick & mortar to purchase or if not locally available, would order directly from the manufacturer.
    I use Aveda shampoo/conditioner.

Used to use a Brita filter but now use a Zero Water filter.

And you love him dearly.
That’s great that you were able to snag the excursion that you really wanted. It would have been a shame to have gone all that way and not been able to take that tour.

No, just breakfast. No debate.
ok, well maybe some debate is called for since several people have mentioned that you can brunch at Waffle House.
Brunch is a combo of breakfast and lunch so both types of meals need to be offered as well as some fancy breakfast or lunch items. Additionally, brunch is something you linger over.
Here’s an example of somewhere that you go to brunch:
Avenue Brunch House

if you want to observe the local drunks, just be sure to be inconspicuous in an out of the way place.

sticky so sorry that you’re having issues in your mouth :hugs: Hopefully the new doc will be able to prescribe something that will give you relief.

Whereabouts do you live that you have such warm temperatures? We’re back down in the low 20’s after a few days of high 30’s, very low 40’s which felt wonderful.

And you know this how?

I’ve been wondering as well.
Well, ninja’d again. But happy to get the update from BBBoo. I did not see even one typo. Very good job.

Now it’s time to get something accomplished other than reading the mmp before my Spartans battle the Trojans at 4:30.

Oklahoma - it’s not unusual to have several days in the 60s and 70s sprinkled throughout winter. The temps generally don’t stick around though. We’ll be back in the 40s and 50s later this week, and looks like there’s a couple of chances for an ice storm around the second week of February. Hopefully that doesn’t pan out.

Found a fun birthday gift for a coworker, and had breakfast for lunch/dinner. I had tapioca pudding for breakfast.

Got back and lager wanted another cuddle. He has moved on to the cat bed.

I do like living in the condo. There are I believe 497 units, so 1000 plus people in the building. There are renters and owners. Various clubs and committees to attend or not. I don’t know if it is fear of missing out or controlling that had me join a few communities. We have a really diverse residential community. It is like living in a small town in a big city. There are other multi unit buildings on the avenue. We think ours is the best. 3 are condos, 2 are apartments. We have a good board and not crazy covenants.

The plane crash is rather far from where I live. The people who have a north view in my building could see the light from the flames nearly at the horizon. For a bit it seemed like: “what else can go wrong”? Not a good start to the year of the snake. Or perhaps the snake is showing its fangs straight away.

The town where I now live is the first one that the town / city didn’t contract with a particular waste service. My complex dumpsters have been known to be overflowing because the garbage trucks didn’t come that week. And yes, the topic comes frequently on the town’s HIP page.

Glad you’re recuperating well boo. You’ll add some on-paws training for the guide foster.

Not to mention, they’re union (UCFW) workers in most locations.

Similar to middle Tennessee. We’ll be up to 70F Monday, but right now, we’re in the 40s and will likely see some freezing temps before the month is over.

Picked up the hardware to hang the clothesline in the laundry room (my locally owned Ace Hardware didn’t have it) at Lowe’s and as usual, Nelson charmed the ladies in the paint department. He got skritches from the guy at Staples too, so he had a pretty good outing. I had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for onion rings, so I stopped at Sonic and fixed a salad to go with when I got home. Now to mess around in the studio.

Good evening all. Spent nearly 4 hours watching or coaching indoor soccer, the seats were not as comfortable as my chairs at home but at least I was out of the house. Got home and over-caloried on mostly frozen stuff I microwaved, with snackage yet to com, so hopefully I’ll add back some of weight I lost. Temperature is down to 47F now, but the Weather Wizards are saying we will have highs in the 70’s next week, so I do have that to look forward to.

Oopsie, sounds like a good course to be taking in these turbulent times…

Sari, if he doesn’t want the Caramel chocolate chip, I’ll be glad to take the off your hands…

BBBoo, thanks for the update and you had perfect composition as I read it, so no teasing is necessary. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

FCM, Haven’t been to Cracker Barrel in nearly a year, I just found that the food, while not bad, just didn’t appeal to me all that much. Maybe one of these days…and may have to try the same trick when my SiriusXM comes up for renewal in April. Of course if I get a new car in May as planned, might just let it expire and see what deal I can get for the new one.

And food has been consumed so into the night…

Up from naptime. Having a Vieux Carré, asian BBQ stir fry, and watching hockey.

He thinks they are bull?

Yay!

It’s a Southern diner chain, open 24/7, 365(They only close for Apocalypse level weather events).

“Brunch without alcohol is just a sad, late breakfast” - Anon

Can’t remember who was looking for negative heel shoes, but Earth shoes have just returned to making negative heel shoes.
I’ve shared a Brand Store on Amazon with you. https://www.amazon.com/stores/KalsoEarthShoe/Homepage/page/924C6F94-71C3-44B8-96FA-FD3DCEED98D0?dplnkId=7c2fe408-6a0c-4d8d-86b7-cdc711c0cb08&dplnk=Y&ref=fs_google&ref_=cm_sw_r_ud_sf_stores_Z8VQR0J9F3VQXFD84S7T

I wear almost exclusively Birkenstock shoes, which are neutral heel, have an excellently designed supportive footbed with a natural roomy toe box, which supports my lofty high arches and wide toes.

I’m a little more confused than usual here. The swirl of MMP names is something I had er, mostly figured out, but I thought BBBoo and Boo fae were the same gal, but I saw both names in one post, so maybe not. Wha? and Huh?

Boo, I was so happy to see your post today, I knew that you were being pampered but started to get a little worried when you didn’t check in.

Dang about the complications, but I’m sure you will recover quickly surrounded by love and cuddles.

I’m really happy their employees are being well treated. That isn’t the norm anymore.

Now, if only Kroger would stock the things I want to buy, they would probably get more of my business. WV is the poorest state in the country, people eat poverty food daily. Cornbread and 7 bean soup is a very common meal around here. The local Kroger sells no packages of 7, 10, 12, whatever bean soup in a bag, and they only sell 10 oz packages of cornmeal.

The produce section is smaller than my stitching room (the smallest of the three bedrooms in a small house) but the ice cream and frozen treat freezers cover the full length of the store.

But that is just me being all judgy and stuff. I spent 30 years in a food desert and was hoping that things would change with “real” grocery stores around. I was wrong.

I happen to know that they would have ordered it for you. I used to love our local Ace, the workers were friendly and knowledgeable, plus if they didn’t have it when I was there, they would special order something that I could pick up on my way home from work a few days later.

The one in Logan smells like someone spilled a five gallon bucket of lacquer thinner in the back room and didn’t mop it up until it soaked into the floor and walls. The workers are super nice and the store is clean and well stocked. I get a headache every time I walk in the door and that makes me very sad.

And that is the important part! As long as you are happy, that’s all that matters!

Oklahoma. I’ve driven through there several times, it is pretty. I got kicked out of a dispensary by the nicest guy ever, it was kinda cute to be honest.

At the time it was medical only, but because of all of the signs on the highway, I assumed it was legal for all adults. We stopped at a stoner looking store and I walked in just like I belonged.

I got excited when I heard that he had some of my favorite strain of flower and doubled up my order then started digging money and ID out to hand over. That’s when we figured out that I was an idiot. I think he was more disappointed than me. I had a good stash, I was just buying because I like to buy in every legal state I visit just for the bragging rights.

So my smile memory about Oklahoma is getting apologized out of a dispensary.

It’s supposed to get up to 60F tomorrow, my baby lemon tree is going to go outside for some sun.

I quite liked Waffle House back when I was smoking tobacco, but never saw a fight there. Of course, I didn’t go there drunk, that was what Denny’s was for.

Back when Hubs was Prez of the Leathernecks (a Marine support club, not meth dealers), we liked Cracker Barrel. They knew how to handle unexpected crowds, so when we were doing a club ride, we would often eat there. They would make us wait until they could put enough tables together and we would all hang out on the front porch and scare off their new customers. They would pull into the parking lot, see 30 or so bikers milling around in the parking lot or sitting in all of the rocking chairs and would drive away again.

One fateful day, a table of three very rude young men started making fun of Marines and the military. Some of us asked them to stop being so rude and they got even ruder. The guy in charge of vice (6’ 4", 260 lbs of muscle) got up, pushed his chair back in and went to the booths around the idiot’s booth and quietly apologized for what was going to happen and help them move out of the way.

We all got up and lined up to pay our bills. Most of us just handed the cashier money for our food and more money for the mess and walked out.

The Prez in charge of Vice quietly walked to the jerks’ table, leaned over and grabbed the loudest on and bitch slapped him. Thirty seconds later, one jerk was under the table crying and begging (yes Hubs and I did stand back to be sure that he had it handled), one was flat on the floor bleeding from his nose and mouth and he had the loudmouth by the neck and was starting to pound on him when a waitress quietly asked him to tone things down because he was scaring people.

He gave her money and we all left and got on our motorcycles and never went back there no more.

Oh my.

The Spousal Unit says it will get down to 15º Ferret Height on Wednesday. I plugged in the heat tape on the back faucet, put the styrofoam covers on both outside faucets, and put eyes on the infrared lamp in case I need to put it under the house. And I tilted the hummingbird feeder (which has a small lamp under it to heat it) so the hummingbirds don’t starve overnight.

BBQ poke sandwich for me, and sliders on Hawaiian Bread for The Missus for dinner.

Down to 5 ferrets outside now. Not a fan of that. Must remember to leave the cupboard door open.

???

I haven’t done this, but I assume leaving the cupboard door open under sinks allow warm air to get into the cupboards.

The laundry room pipes are in the wall between the laundry room and the back bedroom. We have an oil-filled radiator-style space heater next to the wall in the back bedroom. But if the pipe freezes, I’ll have to get under the house with the 250w infrared lamp.

TIL, thank you.

I really don’t know much about how winters and cold weather works, but I’m trying to figure it out.

I firmly believe that we all make our own happiness or at least choose to find it in our surroundings. Sure, we all have complaints and things that just don’t go right, but in my opinion it’s our outlook that determines the outcome. We’ve been through a shitload of trouble here over the past couple of years, but we choose to keep going. We recognize that the thing that keeps us going is the love we have around us and the relationships that we cultivate. /end sermon

I don’t want any sprinkles in my cottage cheese!

Amen.

I’ve never been drunk at Denny’s. No one told me!
Ok, I’ve never actually been drunk at all.

BBBoo Glad to hear things are going ok for you!

Spent the afternoon with MusicMan who was a sweet, perfect gentleman who bought me some early Valentine’s candy!

Yesterday I actually wore my good pearls because they get dull if you don’t touch your skin now and then. However, I didn’t clutch them.

Yays and boos as needed. I can’t keep up with you today.
