I am Boo, or BBBoo. I found Mumperville after Boo Fae, but she was kind enough to share ‘Boo’ with me because I quickly grew attached to Boo after being named it by my lovely international circle of new bosum buddies. Some of us have more bosum than others but we’re all BBB, beloved bosum buddies. Boo Fae reigns from across the pond so you often hear from her much earlier in the day than from me, a confirmed night owl in Nebraska. She’s also much less cranky than I am. We are both crazy cat ladies, so that is no help.
Boo fae is Scary (‘Boo!’) fairy (a fae creature).
Yep, about 6-7 years ago I had a pipe burst in the wall when it was really cold out and I was gone for the night. Fun coming home to water on/in the kitchen wall. Delightful morning of shutting the water off to the house, cutting out drywall and doing a plumbing patch. Since then I have made it a mental note to leave the cupboard door open to hopefully prevent that from happening again.
I will say that Pex and their fittings is much better than trying to sweat and solder a copper fitting inside a wall.
You are a very wise person. I also try to live a life of gratitude. We live in a land where we can expect lights to turn on when we flip a switch or clean water to come out of the tap. So very many people would give almost anything to live with those luxuries.
No worries about sprinkles in your cottage cheese, but we do need to get our glass blowing class scheduled once the weather cleans up. I understand you folks are getting wet again today.
I used to have pearls and actually remember that I had to wear them on a monthly basis. Then I stopped wearing them and they did get pretty dull before I tried to dissolve them in vinegar. (works, but not right away)
I would have done that, but it’s not someplace I take Nelson in to, hence the visit to Lowe’s.
Evening folks; time for the late-night final. Truth be told, have done little except watch You Tube videos (did you know the least-used Amtrak station in Alabama is Anniston?) and read thew SDMB and Facebook. Will be off to slumberland in a little while.
JtC, a very interesting story, hopefully the young men learned better, like the ‘greasers’ that tangled with Robert Duvall in "Secondhand Lions’ (one of my all-time favorite movies).
And that’s all the ambition I have this evening. Take care and I’ll see you on Sunday.
Thanks for clearing that up about the two Boos, scareyfaerie &BippityBoppityBoo. I seem to have a couple name here myself, and that’s okay. Anything but Nottsy is all right.
… acceptable.
Okay.
He sounds quite dapper.
You didn’t make any … ?
Hell, even if you did, anyone who made fun of you would hafta answer to me.
Y’all are makin’ me miss Waffle House.
You do. not. sass. the waitress, and you don’t question the sobriety level of the line cook.
Just came back from a late-night trip to the Safeway, to stock up in preparation for the anticipated economic dislocation caused by the Trump tariffs.
Been doing the same.
I have a list and will go this afternoon when church is over. The grocery is close to church, so I do the most shopping on Sunday.
Woke up after a weirdass dream where I was pregnant.
@BippityBoppityBoo I only have and admiration for you. Glad you’re healing and have kids, grands and doggie giving you attention.
For those of you with horking cats, if I had grown up with cats, I would appreciate that they are worth it. As I am allergic, I’ll let you enjoy the pluses and minuses of having cats.
This is good to know.
I like to shop in stores so that I don’t have so much packaging coming into my home, plus it means people near me have job opportunities. But sometimes the local store doesn’t have it, and I have to order it online anyway. Fortunately I can then have it delivered to my local store, which means leaving the packaging with them and I don’t pay shipping.
Yum! I suggested making tapioca pudding, but hubby prefers rice pudding. I’m making rice pudding today, because last Sunday’s batch didn’t last very long.
I’m going with the year of the snake is a good time to shed the old and get with the new.
I grew up with beans and cornbread as a staple, with hamhocks giving the flavor. My parents have more money than their parents, but it’s still a tasty meal. We’re having split pea with sausage soup for lunch today. I pulled some dinner rolls out of the freezer, so no cornbread today. Might still make some - I really like cornbead.
Yesterday we took a train ride to one of the outlet malls. We hadn’t been there for two years, but they wise up and put in a Five Guys next to the Subway, so there’s decent food there. We ate when we got there, and hubby got a peanut butter shake, along with the bacon cheeseburger and fries, which we split. After 4 hours of shopping, we stopped at Five Guys before getting on the train and hubby got another peanut butter shake and I got a salted caramel shake. I miss getting good milkshakes, so it was a nice treat.
Hubby wasn’t sure if he should get a second milkshake, but I convinced him he wanted it. He finished his before I was halfway through mine. Next time I might just get peanut butter as well.
Today is paperwork day - mostly virtual. Need to download forms from websites A, B and C, and upload them to website D and maybe E. Income tax is so much fun.
Hubby’s vacuuming and both the dishwasher and washing machine are running. I’ll chill on the couch for a bit longer before going to the office to start paperwork fun. Probably throw in some budgeting while I’m at it.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 42 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 71 and N.O.S. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization followed by first Sunday brunch/chili cook off. TBH, if it weren’t for the fact that this is a fundraiser for the food pantry, we would probably skip it. We are not huge chili fans. A good ninety percent of our chili consumption is on dawgs. Hopefully there will be some other foodstuffs to munch on. I made the cake and we will take some fixin’s as we promised. The afternoon shall include nappage and other RDOS inactivities. Today is Candlemas (I’d post a link with an explanation if I weren’t so lazy) so we’ll do the processional with candles and all that good stuff. I have Verger duty.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization shall commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all! Happy Candlemas! Happy Ground Hawg Day! Eat snausage!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/40f with a predicted high of 6c/42f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Calm your tits, it’s not that fucking bad outside.” I agree, it’s sunny and dry which is good enough for me.
Feel better soon!
He leaves on Monday morning and comes home on Thursday night so the cats have time to adjust to there being just me, or nobody, in the house all day. I’m not sure the girls actually miss him, he’s just one less thing to run away from.
BBBoo good to hear that you’re being well cared for, I hope the recovery continues well.
We had a fun night out yesterday, we arrived at KK’s just as the first band was starting so that was good timing! Met up with some friends, saw some excellent music and had a very good time. Afterwards we wandered back to the Giffard but didn’t stay there long and instead we went to the Posada for a last drink before heading home. Chatted to some folks in there, and fussed the barmaid’s puppy who was allowed out to wander around the pub and make friends with the customers.
We were home before 2am, and I was in bed shortly afterwards. Got up to tend to the critters then went back to sleep for an hour or so. Now I am properly up and deciding what to do with the rest of my day. I pulled a couple of tubs of leftovers out of the freezer so it’s chicken and chorizo for dinner tonight. I think the rest of the day demands slothage, probably with many cups of tea and a good book.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall clean in the morning, and join Spot in sloth, and possibly zoomies in the afternoon.
Dunno. I feels like we are the ASFs in the Year of The Snake < waves at shoe >
You betcha! I’m waiting for our Social Security statements (they weren’t on line yet, but they’re being mailed) and I think I’ll have it all. We don’t have enough deductions to itemize, so I can use the 1040EZ. I’m just hoping I had enough withheld last year. The rules and rates keep changing and we always end up sending in a bigger check than I’d intended. My goal is to be ±$100, but it hasn’t worked out that way. Maybe this will be my year… yeah, right…
Weather is being stoopit again. It’s in the 20s and we might see 40° today, then be close to 60° tomorrow. Sure, why not! I don’t think I’ve got any plans for today - we’ll see when I’m more awake.
Yesterday evening was weird. It started with me dozing on and off in my recliner when trying to read - all because I had a short night, so the dozing was expected. But when I was finally fully awake, I was smelling something odd and I couldn’t identify it. FCD didn’t smell it at all. I thought at first it was the book, since it was a used one, but that didn’t seem to be that case. The only way I can describe it is that some people’s houses have a particular smell for whatever reason, and this seemed to fall in that category. It wasn’t floral or food or musty - just odd. I even got it into my head that maybe I was having a stroke and my brain was messing with me. I tend to overreact since my seizure, thinking my brain is betraying me. But all is back to normal this morning, so who knows??
I had set the new night light on red, and I don’t like it - too bright, I think. I’ll try the dark blue next - it seems to be closer to what we used to have in there. Yeah, I know, first world problems.
Tobias left his slippers here and both kids left their toothbrushes. I think I need to do a more complete sweep of the house next time they stay over. Not a huge deal - they have spare toothbrushes. So must remember them next time I’m headed that way.
As it happens, Daughter brought the Polish sausages I’d asked my mom to get me, so I think supper is planned.
Happy Sunday!!
We have rejoined the local gym. We stopped going during Covid. It has taken us a bit to get started. We were given three free sessions with trainers, all of which were very good other than the sales pitch. They were pushing for two forty dollar weekly sessions each. They did not seem to get the idea that we, as retired seniors on a fixed income could not pay $640.00 a month on top of our $140.00 dues.
There are numerous locations around town. We live between two. One has been very nicely remodeled. The other looks like it hasn’t been updated since we were going there pre covid, and it was pretty shabby then. The nice gym doesn’t seem to be full of the hard core muscle guys and their gym bunnies.
We are slowly getting to incorporate the gym into our regular daily tasks. Today will be my first opportunity to spend an hour swimming laps and I can hardly wait.
Good morning.
It’s 32F and partly cloudy here right now. We’re expecting snow showers between 9:00 a.m. and 12:000; after that, any moisture that falls will rain. Little to no accumulation is expected and our expected high temperature is 40F.
Some snow fell yesterday, and we had a white skiff of snow on the ground for a bit, but it was gone by afternoon.
Die Capacitrix, knowing where you live, it’s always kind of jarring to read about outlet malls and very American chain restaurants. When I lived in Germany as a wee girl, that stuff didn’t exist then, but of course, that was many, many years ago. I know American chains are practically in all nations, but it’s still weird to me.
BBBoo, I’m so happy that recovery is going well. I’m glad you could check in with us.
I think I have all the tax documents I need now, so I should probably do my taxes sooner rather than later.
My son stayed overnight and will probably hang out long enough with us to finish his laundry. I always encourage him to bring his laundry when he comes to visit so he won’t have to use the apartment laundry room. It’s always lovely when he visits, and he and my husband have a great time hanging out together and playing virtual and computer games.
Of course, the pups are in nirvana when their “boy” visits. They love him.
Other than enjoying the time my son will be here, I don’t have much on the books for today. I took care of my laundry yesterday. I might run the roll suck around and vacuum the stairs. I noted dog hair where the riser meets the tread, so I need to get that up.
Boo Fae, I’m glad you had a fun outing. I can’t remember the last time I got home from being out at 2:00 a.m.
Alrighty, it’s time to finish my coffee.
Take care everyone.
