(Old) The MMP is the place to be!

Good greets, folks! It’s 28F, with a bit of snow out there, heading to a high of 42F later. NPR news is playing the Sunday Puzzle. The caller was quick, and I didn’t get any of the answers before she did. Oh, well. Hey, It’s Pester-The-Innocent-Rodents Day! Never a big deal on my calendar, but some folks get into that stuff.

Be well, do stuff, and be kind.

Good morning all. Have been out and acquired the Sunday NY Times, was also going to grab a 1/2 gallon of skim milk, but the use-by dates on them were 3-5 February and i don’t use milk that fast. So maybe peek at Wal-Mart later and see if theirs has a better shelf-life. Will be heading to Olive Garden in a couple of hours for a carbohydrate blowout, then maybe do walkies at the gym but otherwise just a quite day. Temperature is 46F and supposed to get near 70 today, so that will be nice.

That is one dream I’ve never had…

I used to love tapioca pudding, but don’t think I’ve had any in many years (does some looking at the Kroger/Walmart sites…hmmmmm).

One reminder that you don’t live in the USA. And you have Five Guys, let the calorie bonanza begin!

boo fae, enjoy your slothage.

FCM, as I think I mentioned, am waiting on Edward Jones as they have promised the tax info by 14 Feb. I think I have the rest, really need to go through the pile at my desk and sort things out (afternoon project). Hope your math works out.

And I’ve had that ‘something doesn’t smell quite right’ too, which goes away after a bit, guess it is just our sinuses growing older like the rest of us.

Hippie, hope the gym works out (heh) for you and your lady. I was a bit surprised at the cost for individual workouts, for 12 times a month it was $452, so I only have it for three months to see if it’s worth it.

???

And need to do the usual Sunday morning internetting then get appropriately attired and head off to my Pasta and salad overload (with breadsticks!!) Take care all.

Happy Sunday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do Sunday chores. Not much else going on here today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Groundhog day.

Punxsutawney Phil won’t be seeing his shadow round here, it’s going to be mostly cloudy all day. It is 37F expected to become 60F.

My lemon tree will go outside when it hits 50F. I’ve got it under a grow lamp but natural sun has got to be better.

Last night, Jolene learned that if she chews on Hubs beard when he’s sleeping, he will push her away so now she has his arm to wrastle with and bite under the blankets. It was great fun for her but a total pain for us because we can’t lock her out unless we lock GG out and he just wails his lungs out when he can’t be in the same room as his hoomans. Tonight I’m going to make him rub lemon juice or bitter apple on his hands. I think we will get more sleep that way.

You always sound so happy when he visits.

Do you have any knowledge about the concrete barriers being put around the White House today? Maybe a clue in one of the billions of memos you’ve been reading this past week?

Do you have Medicare? If so, sign up for their Silver Sneakers program and see if the gym has discounts available. My gym membership is free to me through the program, but charges something like 150/month for membership.

Maybe check again, our statements were available online.

He’s part of the house, change is scary. How’s he liking the job?

I’m glad he enjoyed it, but you already knew he would!

Haha that’s a great story! It’s still medical only here, but it’s very easy to get a card if you live here. It’s a bit of a marijuana wild west honestly. Looking at a map, there are 13 dispensaries less than a mile from my house. There are hundreds across the city. I have no idea how they make money (they probably don’t, I imagine there’s a lot of money laundering or other nefarious things going on).

I think my card is about to expire actually - I’ll set up a $25 virtual call with a doctor somewhere to get the medical form and then send everything in. I’m only an occasional user, but I keep a card just in case because if I ever were tested for work my job would be protected.

Okay so hear me out - I’m also allergic to cats, but I stop being allergic to my particular cat once I’ve had them for about 6 weeks. And then my overall allergic reaction to cats in general is greatly decreased and barely notice any issues at all.

I’m noticing the opposite now about dogs, which I am also allergic to. I didn’t get another dog when my sweet girl passed away about two years ago, and I’m noticing I’m reacting more and more strongly around other peoples dogs.

Don’t look now but the ‘my’ above should have been ‘me’ (…teasing me about…).

My distance vision is coming back more than my reading or up close vision, which makes sense since the artificial lens that was implanted corrects for distance but not medium or close. No correction for astigmatism in the artificial lens because that would have been an additional $4200 I didn’t have. I’m perfectly comfortable with glasses, I’ve worn them since I was 12. Even with the exorbitant toric lens I still would have had to wear glasses to correct for the vision syndrome from the TBI, so meh, mundane artificial lens for me it is. It is at least 4-6 weeks after the last surgery before the optometrist can prescribe new glasses. Til then I can wear my old prescription which overcorrects for distance but gives me some useful correction for medium and reading or the surgeon said I can go without glasses.

TTFN-off to do a craft project with Harriet.

I found mine, but FCD’s Login dot gov account is messed up, so I have to wait to delete it and redo it - they require a 24-hours waiting period. So tomorrow.

And in searching for his account info, I discovered my spreadsheet with all my assorted logins had disappeared. All I can figure is I accidentally scooped it up when I was cleaning up my desktop. Luckily, I’d printed it out at one point. Unluckily, many of the passwords had changed, but I’ve got it all straightened out and I’ll make sure to back it up this time. DUH!

OK, NOW I’ll sit down to read. Finally. Sheesh.

Ground hog Day is the wurst holiday on the calendar.

I dreamed I was fighting the alligator and puma on a bed with no sheets.
Managed to change the sheets and comforter with only a little interference from Spot. He also went into a kitchen cabinet, and Wile E. Coyote-ed himself with a food container(no injuries to either).

What, just because someone managed to screw over close to a billion people in just 2 weeks?

It’s snowing. Not much, but it’s accumulating on the too-loose canopy garage. I’d put some 2x4s up to help the water from pooling, and two fell down. Fortunately, they missed the MGB. I put them back up, but I’ll need to secure them.

Sausages are cooked for ground hog day. They’re keeping warm in the oven until I fry the cackleberries.

Nice. I got out of the van at church.
Black ice. Went down. Back hurts.

I thought I’d take a stab at compiling a current Mumper name list, in alphabetical order by nickname. I know I’m missing the nicknames for Aspenglow (it’s something about a tree, but I can’t think of it!), Baker, Bob_Blaylock, Ellecram, scudsucker, SCAdian, and Taters…what are they? And who else am I missing?? Once this seems to be complete – and if y’all agree – I’d be happy to see about getting The MMP FAQ updated. Here’s the list so far (my use of capitalization is inconsistent; also, while we do have nicknames for some SOs and other recurring characters I’ve only included Mumpers):

Thanks to all who expressed condolences about my BFFs’ cat. :blue_heart: The vet showed up 90+ minutes later than planned – a bit cruel to extend the wait, but I don’t know the reason – and a little while later WifeBFF sent me an “RIP Duke” text. I cried a few times yesterday, and gave Bailey some extra hugs. I sent them each “I’m so sorry; I love you” messages, and asked WifeBFF to let me know if I can bring some food over today. I’m not expecting to see them, though. Maybe next weekend.

In other news, my taxes are done! Woo hoo! I have very simple taxes – just two W2s and a 1099-INT, with no dependents/deductions/credits/itemization/etc. – so I filed both fed and state for free via H&R Block, and they’ve already been accepted. I owe <$200 combined, and both payments will be deducted from my savings account on 04/01. No reason to pay early and lose the pennies of interest I’ll earn in February and March. (:joy:)

I’ve mentioned before that I’ll be attending a vocal jazz conference in June: it’s hosted by an online organization called JazzVoice, which I’ve known about for a while, and the other day I decided to go ahead and join up. They’re offering a virtual welcome/orientation this afternoon, and I’m registered. It’s my only real plan for the day, other than doing laundry.

Oh! Except that I’m expecting a small Lego set to be delivered today. It’s a mini Death Star that was offered as a “gift with purchase” (GWP) for 2023’s Star Wars Day (May 4th). It’s less than 300 pieces, and will take hardly any time to put together – I might even be able to do it at the coffee table – but it’ll be easy to display and I’ll be happy to add it to my other Star Wars sets. I’ve decided that my next big set will be the TIE fighter, but I don’t like the current GWP – offered through Friday – so I’m waiting to see what the next one is (I might not like it, either, but I won’t keep waiting).

I hope everything sorts itself out sooner rather than later! :crossed_fingers:

You misspelled “Ooooooooooklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin’ down the plain,” which I believe is the state’s full official name.

Ouch!! :frowning:

same here. When my daughter put a specific beverage container on her gift list and Ace didn’t have the exact one she wanted, they offered to order it and it came in plenty of time for Christmas. The workers here are also friendly and knowledgeable.

when it gets down to single digits, we have to open the linen closet door as the tub is against 2 outside walls; also have to open the doors under the kitchen corner sink.

Yes, to keep the water pipes from freezing.

AGREED! When I worked in San Antonio, training after about 2 yrs went on at the firm headquarters in Cleveland. From the guys, (I was the first female hired in that division), I heard how terrible it was so they always only stayed in the hotel or at the adjacent training building because otherwise they would have to go out amongst “the yankees”. Well first time I went to training in Cleveland, I had flown home and Dad let me use one of his very large cars to drive to Cleveland. Each day after training was over, I took the guys from SA and also others who could fit in (about 6 peeps in back seat-ladies sat on dudes laps- and 4 in front) to the track, out dancing, downtown to see the sights and sample the cuisine. They had the best time ever and when they got back to SA and told the other guys about what a great time we had, they were looked at oddly and threatened with men in white coats. But my opinion is you can’t wait for fun to find you, you have to go out and find it yourself.
boo fae is the queen of going out and finding the fun. I love her stories. Oh, if I were only younger.

I have a spreadsheet. I could post a list in the stickiied post at the top of the MAPSIMS.
Well, since I decided to read over and edit my post, oopsie ninja’d me. I look her list over and see if I have any more that she didn’t post

yeah, I buy in quantity when there are specials and to stock up on occasion. Daughter told husband recently that with everything I have in the basement, I could open a bodega.

Happy Candlemas swampy. :candle:

I don’t either, that’s why I only buy a quart at a time.

our Fitness Center just implemented this program.

Was 20* earlier and is supposed to reach a high of 30*. Started snowing shortly after I came downstairs, still snowing but just tiny flakes now. Accumulation appears to be about an inch+.

I’m watching the European figure skating championships. Will go to mass at 6pm; I like Fr. Zbigniew more than any of the priests at my home parish.

Oh Coppertone I’m sorry that you fell. hope you feel better soonest.

< delicate cough > It’s Bright Tree, courtesy of Metal Mouse. Thanks for remembering. I’m here so rarely, no one can be expected to remember. But I read a lot and send good thoughts to all.

I’m pretty sure taters is simply “taters”. Frequently referenced in posts about meals as NOT (not our taters).

I was gonna go to the diner for breakfast, but it was 5 when I woke up, so decided to just stay in the warm.

My friends Patti and Dave lost their elderly cat a few months ago. Yesterday they adopted a 3 year old house panther. She came with the name Millie but keeping that name is up for debate.

I will see Ariel this afternoon. I’m still on the DL but have MRIs tomorrow of hip and hamstring. I see the ortho Wednesday to discuss the results. The ortho PA’s guess is a hamstring tear that didn’t heal correctly.

Ooh a PUPPY!!!

I don’t suppose you can smell all the way to Ohio, but I bought a new (to me) end table and I was noticing last night that it smells like the store it came from. Kind of an odd potpourri smell.

My late boyfriend, Dave, was the first person that I ever met who used that expression. I always think of him when I see it. :purple_heart:

Ouch! Feel better soon!

Today I am upstairs with MusicMan and he’s working on installing things in his music room. I did a little work, but I’m kind of out of steam and I’m just sitting here messing around now.

I forgot my nickname but y’all can just call me Elle!

Added to spreadsheet.
I’d like to ask you a ? but will do it via DM.

Hi, I’m rocking chair, my nicknames are rocker or rocky…

Tapioca and rice pudding are my favourites. The rice pudding can have raisins or not. Today I had ice cream for breakies.

Odd a plane just flew over my building. Huh. We are not on a regular flight path. Huh. It was going up. If we see a plane or planes it is usually further west and landing. We also get the fly by for the home football games. Huh. Wonder what that was about…
