(Old) The MMP is the place to be!

Have you checked your portfolio lately? My stocks have been going straight down since the election. My money guy is moving things offshore for me, I don’t like what I’m seeing.

My guitar is in my closet and I was looking at the case the other day, thinking I should pull it out and give it a try. but I’m worried about the arthritic fingers. Maybe I’ll take inspiration from you. I’m sure the grands would love it.

Yeah, I’ve got the 'ritis in my thumbs, mostly, but also in the fingers. I figure if I take it easy, the brain activity required is worth a little pain. I never was a shredder, anyway.

Havarti and Muenster are also nice, smooth, mild cheeses worth trying. Make yourself grilled cheese sandwiches with a slice of each~lovely!

ETA: I meant that for metal mouse, to add to your wise suggestions for mild real cheeses to explore. I know you know them. Sorry, I’m afraid if I try to redirect it then the whole thing will disappear and our mouse will never know which daring new cheeses to explore. You know, a short sleeve of Ritz crackers and a couple of slices of one of those cheeses makes for a decent lunch or dinner for a Mumper dining alone. When I’m motivated I add a sliced up apple to round it out.

and Muenster. oops, ninja’d on the muenster. when I make my grilled cheesers, I use extra sharp cheddar and muenster as the cheeses then add in whatever else I’m in the mood for - tomato slices, green onion, sauteed onion and/or red bell pepper, and possibly ham.

Breaking News: The freeze is rescinded.

showered, brought laundry basket downstairs but needed to have lunch first. heated up some broccoli cheese with brown rice soup; also put some frozen chopped broccoli in. ate with roasted vegetable Ritz.

oh, while I was in the shower, I had the thought that I had forgotten to call the pharmacy to be sure that the rest of Hubs prescription was ready. So, I jumped out with soap in hair and called. Yes, ready; the pharmacist and pharm tech are getting homemade cookies next time we go to stem cell transplant clinic. Oh, scrip will be picked up by daughter’s friend who works at the hospital across the street from the Cancer Pavilion and daughter will bring it to us tomorrow morning.

ok, time to get on the dishes, laundry and workout on the NuStep. But first I need to get the veggies into the crock pot with the roast.

oh crap, the @PressSec just put out a message (not sure if on X, or some other platform):

"This is NOT a rescission of the federal funding freeze.

It is simply a rescission of the OMB memo.

Why? To end any confusion created by the court’s injunction.

The President’s EO’s on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented."

So sorry to have gotten anyone’s hopes up.

One of my besties (we’ve known each other since those halcyon days, age nineteen, freshmen in college … ah, to be young again) is now a White House reporter.

Woke up to 12+ texts from her today.

You best believe, shit’s gettin’ real and that’s all the politick I’ll drag into our peaceful place of laundry, dishwashing, puppies, death, taxes, dinner plans …

I am endlessly fascinated by how different cats react to sounds. I had a pair (bro and sis) who would flee the room when I sneezed. Current girl glares at me but doesn’t move. The bro never paid attention to TV, the sis was fascinated by hockey and watched all the games. Current girl gets on the table in front of the TV and listens to mellow jazz but leaves the room when anything at all rockin’ comes on.

I’m glad you’re getting attention from Sadie; that should keep you strumming until your fingertips toughen up.

And how long do babies wear the same outfit in the same day? It seemed like changing baby diapers and clothes was all my sisters did with them!

I’ve convinced Hubs that we would be better off donating the new blankets to the folks at the low income apartments and buying more thrift store blankets. Their apartments all have large sliding glass doors leading out to the balcony and I know from experience that those leak heat all winter long and then let it in all summer.

Hubs only likes one of the cheeses I got yesterday. SCORE!!! If offered the choice between a cookie and a slice of cheese, he would always pick the cookie. That works out great for us because he can have all of the cookies as long as I get the cheese!

Good for you, I hope you keep it up. We all need ways to distract ourselves nowadays.

I know who you meant, and I’m sure @The_Stainless_Steel_Rat appreciates it. Those are also nice smooth cheeses that make delightful toasted cheese.

Most folks who rhapsodize over cheeses do it over sharp and/or stinky cheeses which can be a shock to those who have never had them. The folks who enjoy mild cheeses tend to just savor them for their quiet and unassuming nature.

Hubs likes cream cheese, string cheese, cheddar and jack cheese. He eats bleu cheeses when I dilute them well enough but really doesn’t like strong cheeses at all. Everyone is different.

Hubs changed our dinner plans by requesting spaghetti. As he won’t eat the noodles, that means he wants sauce covered Italian sausages. That’s not a big deal either, I sauteed the onions, mushrooms and garlic in the InstantPot then added the sauces and spices to simmer. It’s a nice day (currently 54F) so he cooked the sausages on the grill. I have some two-year old parm that I will grate for me, but he likes the dried stuff in the shaker can so that’s what he will get.

I’ve already mixed up some salad dressing and chopping things for a salad takes no time at all once I finally got a Mezzaluna and a wood bowl.

So plans weren’t changed that much and stitching is happening. I’m having tension problems, I am pulling my stitches too tight and having to frog things and go back and redo it while deliberately relaxing my grip on things. This is bad, Imma need a bigger pipe.

We’re looking at cashing out our bonds and perhaps moving or cashing stocks. Of course, with the gov’t going after the FDIC, I don’t know if banks will be that safe, either.

That’s why I’m moving our money overseas. Both are risks, everyone has to choose their own.

Today is sunny and warm-ish (55°F!), but super breezy: there’s a wind advisory in effect until 6pm, and I think I read that some gusts are reaching 30 mph. It’s downright loud out there at times. Bailey has a vet appointment this evening for a flu shot: I won’t need a jacket, but will definitely wear a baseball cap!

I am tired today. My dad started wondering if some recent symptoms – that have prompted both neurologist and memory clinic appointments – might have been caused by a ministroke, and when he sent that question to his doctor’s office late yesterday they called him and said he should go to an ER for testing. So he did, at around 7:30pm; I talked with him 30 min later. He wasn’t concerned, and said I didn’t need to make the 50-mile drive up there; he didn’t want my brother (who lives much closer) to go, either. I know that ER visits often take 10-12 hours, but I stayed up for as long as I could just in case he got any not-great results or needed anything: I wound up crashing sometime after 1am and was up again around 2am to pee, then my alarm went off at 7:30am (I had a call at 9am that I didn’t want to skip, plus I didn’t want to start work much later than that). He got home at around 6am, and luckily there seems to be no sign of a stroke! He has a doctor appointment tomorrow morning to review the results of all of the tests he had.

As soon as my alarm went off I felt the lack of sleep – sore eyes, etc. – and then just as one work crisis was getting solved (by the 9am meeting) another popped up. Right now it’s all at my boss’s level, so I’m not immediately involved, but it’s one more thing…it makes for Big Serious Issue #3 just this month.

Bailey’s vet appointment is at 5pm; I’m going to log off work soon to put some “real” clothes on and get ready. I need to put the footwell pillow and a waterproof pad in the car, and in about an hour it’ll be time to put a collar/harness/leash on the dog. Then I’ll have to seriously disappoint her by not taking her for a walk, and – even worse – picking her up and putting her in the car. Heh.

I’ll allow it.

LOL! :joy:

Excellent!! :notes:

I was contemplating going out for pizza, but just looked out the window and can’t see the house across the street due to the snow, so I’ll be staying in. The wind is wicked too. The snow seems to be coming from multiple directions…down, obviously, but also left and right.

The appointment went fine. They’ll submit the procedure for approval with my insurance now that we have something other than Medicaid - who already denied it.

My insurance has some kind of a deal on Weight Watchers if you go through them, so I’m waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting to hear back from them if there would be any discount on my GLP-1 if I get it through them. But, as you can probably tell, I’ve been waiting to hear back from them for several days which is actually kind of odd.

And, just for fun, it’s a no good, very bad day for BMS. It simultaneously feels like someone has stuck a thumbtack in the right side of my tongue and every time I eat anything, it feels like I’ve swallowed barbed wire.:rage: I’m going to send a message to my primary doc to see if there’s anyone he can refer me to other than the one that did the tongue biopsy, because I wasn’t really thrilled with his bedside manner.

As far as all the things I wanted to comment on…

JtC, I also like cheese!
{{{Taters}}}

And that’s all I can remember and the format is wonky so I can’t go back and look at the thread.

I went to bed early. Phone woke me. Went back to sleep. Woke once to wonder why my whole lower arm felt sticky. Fell asleep. Woke again to discover that I’d somehow dislodged a scab on my arm in my sleep. (It didn’t bleed that much originally.) I laundered sheets again. Yippee. I’ll head to the gym shortly.

I’m also a Marx Brothers and Addams Family fan. I watched the Munsters, but they didn’t seem clever or funny to my little girl self. I don’t know why. It’s not like I had good taste.

flyboy, prayers have already commenced for the anonymous Doper and family. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Oh, those are the people next door, who (knocks on wood) have been quiet for 10 days. These people were in the apartment upstairs, the one that was being used as a B&B. I think they were moving stuff out, as there’s been no further movement up there. I hope I don’t get new neighbors up there soon. My downstairs neighbors are quiet, so there’s that.

Dang it, JtC, now I’m craving bleu cheese. After the gym, maybe I’ll walk to the store to get some crumbles. I need eggs anyway.

Taters, your forecast is for snow? Brr!! We’re getting rain starting tomorrow, and it might or might not turn into snow over the weekend, but only overnight. Also, I’m so sorry about the shitty state of things at your job. Since the OMB issued a sorta “Just kidding,” I hope today has been better.

Oh, and to clarify and without getting political, my “baffled” comment was that I couldn’t find any info on the reasoning/motive behind the freeze and couldn’t think of a reasonable one on my own.

Have Ziva bring in the mail and change her own litter box. [Dusts off hands.] Another problem solved! Hire Nellie for ALL your sticky wickets! Creative nonsolutions for everyday problems since she can’t remember.

Klonopin tacos would make someone a lot of money.

Today sucks.
I sat on our downstairs bench last night, as did my neighbor.
I came up, and my scalp felt weird, burny.
So this morn I go to urgent care
Yes, he sees nits.
No one touches me and I keep my coat and hat on when I go out.
Of course, the treatment isn’t covered on my medicaid so I go and get Walgreens brand as Nix is twice the cost.
Then 6 dollars for three loads of laundry.
And there goes my money.

Heh. I’ve been on Xitter since 2016. (Actually, I forgot that I’d signed up for a few years.) Look how popular I am:

Six! I have six followers! You can just call me Mr. Popular from now on!

So why am I posting about this? Because keanu reeves followed me. Hey, I’ve heard of him! It’s funny that he doesn’t have a verified account, and only has four posts since he joined in December 2024.

Well, anyway it prompted me to make a post. Or take a xit. Whatever you call it.

Gosh, Coppertone, that’s lousy, literally.
While I’m on the wordplay, I was thinking about the FFOTUS’s memecoin, $trump. If you used one of those to buy a dog, cat, or bird, you’d have a $trumpet. You might look up strumpet before doing that.

I am sure there are drug cartels out of Mexico that could arrange that.

It’s sounding good to me , unless I could get some Columbian coffee infused with Klonopin. My older but-definitely-not wiser-brother is an investor in a small coffee farm in Columbia but I’m sure he won’t do it for me, he’s always been a stick-in-the-mud.

I hope that you’re feeling better soonest.

WTG godbod!

{{{taters}}}

Me too. They tended to be wittier.

I like both of these.

Irked, came home in a lovely 67f afternoon, walked Nelson, et and messed around in the studio. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
