This second grader did know mythology. I loved the Greek myths, and Norse, and Roman. Prometheus is my favourite. Being Medusa was an awesome choice. I just went with Athena in 4th grade. This season of Star Trek strange new worlds did have a space butterfly looking thing. It was really pretty, very destructive, but very pretty.
This morning I had a bit of aiiee! when I thought I left the notes for today’s meeting in the office. I wouldn’t have time to get there and back before the meeting. Luckily I did have them in my backpack. They are now in my meeting bag.
It’s 55°F and steadily raining. The rain is expected to continue falling until the afternoon, and a wind advisory is also in effect. The expected daytime high is 57°F. Seeing as how, once again, it’s so dang soggy, I cancelled mushroom foraging for today. We’re going on Monday, instead. I also don’t want to be in the woods with high winds and soggy ground. Trees tend to fall…often.
I also loved mythology when I was in second grade. I remember poring through my parents’ encyclopedias, looking up mythology stories, and then asking to visit the library to borrow books with more mythology stories.
VanGo, I’m so happy for you and the job status! I’m sorry about the kitty, though. That’s very sad.
Shoe, I’m glad you survived the night, and I loved the pic!
No TorT’ers here either. Our lights were off, and I didn’t hear footsteps or giggles either.
So, the bikes and other stuff were supposed to be delivered to the bike shop yesterday. They were not. They attempted delivery at 7:00 p.m., when the shop was closed. They’ll try again on Monday. It’s FedEx, so I’m not surprised. The stuff was on the truck at 4:00 a.m for delivery. Even dumber. I have a feeling this is going to be a saga.
I’ll be heading to the store in a bit to pick up a pork roast. I promised to make a pork roast today, along with potato dumplings. That’s about the extent of my plans, other than the usual sweeping and tidying. Those dogs shed non-stop!
Alright, on with the day! Take care of yourselves!
FCD changed his mind and we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. It was surprisingly empty. We were debating whether it was because there are so many other options now (Bob Evans used to be the only other place - now there are at least 3 more within a couple of miles.) Or was it continued backlash over the logo kerfuffle? I don’t care - I was happy to see that they have the breakfast sammich available again. That was always a favorite of mine.
Anyway, I’m looking for stuff to do - maybe finding things to transplant to the newly landscaped hill.
It’s FedEx that managed to send my friend’s bags to the wrong country as well. International incomepetence.
I just gave the rat cage a thorough cleanout, including taking out their favourite sleeping site (it’s a hanging fluffy tunnel things and it smells- I have a brand new replacement to switch out while I wash and dry the original, but it obviously doesn’t smell right yet).
I’m getting some very accusing and disappointed little ratty looks. The treat dispenser has betrayed them.
I initially read this as doggiotraining today and thinking you were taking on a lot for a retired person.
I did too! The school librarian actually allowed me to check out books from the full library, as opposed to the little kids’ side for grades 3 and under, so I checked out Bullfinch’s tout suite.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The only thing solidly on the agenda today is a load of towels. RDOS rules!
1962 to 1968 there was a TV show called The Saint. Classic feel good tv.
… Simon Templar is the Saint. He robs from the criminally rich and gives to the poor and deserving – while keeping a nice percentage for himself. His strict moral code makes him target those who got their wealth through nefarious means - corrupt politicians, warmongers and the like. His criminal activities put him at odds with the law, but his wit, charm and intelligence tends to keeps him one step ahead of the police…
Is that what he did? I watched the show religiously because I had a big crush on Simon Templar and enjoyed the action scenes (and hated the make-out scenes), but I don’t think I ever actually knew what he was doing. Besides being handsome, I mean.
Adding to the FedEx pile-on - yet again they left the delivery against the garage door where it could conveniently be run over by FCD’s car backing out. And, as usual, I happened to hear the truck, so I got the box.
So far it’s been hard to get good pictures, because they’re kittens and they’re always on the move. Here’s what I have so far.
Ash looking introspectively out the window:
Ash looking relaxed:
The only picture I’ve gotten of Hazel (she’s the adventurer):
And for those who are imgurless, here’s a picture from the cat cafe, when they were Bubbles and Fizz. No adoption post yet, so you’re spared my ugly mug for now:
A really slow day here at The Home. 41F at 1100, so a bit chill for a walk. I may go anyway. Dinner will be leftover soup. Visitations tomorrow from daughter and niece.
I did a really dumb thing last night. I prepared Sadie’s nighttime food and then left it on the counter. So she had nothing to eat all night. I couldn’t figure out why she was being so restless until I walked into the kitchen in the morning and saw her dish. Head smack.
We’ve got a new dog bed coming. Tracking estimated delivery says it should be here by now, yet the online tracker has no updates since tuesday, when it was still in California.
We dog parked for an hour this morning. She had fun, lots of running and dodging other pups.
I need to do work on the front of the house, but it involves getting out the ladder, which is buried in the garage. And it is chilly outside, so donwanna. Fucking squirrels.
I was on the 100 and 200 Slides today. Except for the hour and half I was loading. Which is when both slides got slammed. Everything went out. Literally at the last minute. I stopped at Teeter for an onion, did laundry, and now I’m watching hockey.
Happy Half Priced Candy Day!
And you didn’t stab anyone with a pizza cutter. Or at least that’s what we’re telling the cops.
< offs up more prayers to the Shipping gods >
Didn’t mess up Pike’s hair, though.
Me too. And Clash Of The Titans and all the assorted sword and sandal movies.
red, cute kitty – hope the opening gets sealed up without drama. And enjoy the meeting with your father.
Van Go, congrats on your permanent status! And I am sorry about Brian.
FCM, the grandkids’ costumes are adorable and very beautifully made! So cute.
Yeeks, I forgot about GG’s love of water for a moment. I can understand why that elevates the urgency for a quick repair.
swampy, I can’t think why. Enjoy your game today.
Thank you, metal mouse. You’ve put a fretful old lady’s mind more at ease. I hope it turns out to be no cause for concern. Hope the soccer finals are not too stressful.
fly boy, Findus looks like he is already asserting his authority. He’s precious!
Great photo of you and SM. You hide your suffering well!
I must have the only nice FedEx delivery person in the country. Deliveries almost always come when scheduled. And the delivery fellow comes through the gate, down the long driveway and leaves all packages under the eaves out of the weather, leaned against my front door. He’s a very nice man and I am grateful for him!
Both so cute! Glad you caught some that were sharable.
“Restless” is so polite. Ollie would have figured out how to hold a knife to my throat if I’d overlooked any meal of his. And used it if I didn’t follow through.
doggio, enjoy the hockey. And Spot’s attentions.
Halloween passed as uneventfully as I expected. Got a good night’s sleep – I’ll take it!
It’s currently howling down with rain, but the temperature is warm – low 60s. A little weird.
Looks like a nice day to put on a simmering beef stew and bake some bread. So I’m off to do that.
