[OLD] There's a Spring in Your Step - A Seasonal MMP

Today is the first day of spring, and it’s 30 degrees(Fahrenheit) outside. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Talk amongst yourself till I get back.

FIRST! Tis good to be juvenile.

Frozen pierogi are cookin’ up for dinner. They shall be joined soon by bacon’n’onions, as is right and proper.

Gotta go flip 'em. Yum!

Oh, and a correction to my final post in last week’s MMP, these pierogi are the weird, not-traditionally-Polish sour cream’n’chive filled, not potatoes and Cheddar. Still would earn you a side-eye from any native of Warsaw or Krakow, as far as I know, but also still delicious.

And easy.

I shoulda chopped more onion, though. Dang.

Gave into YOLO and chopped up another whole onion to add.

However, I’ve discovered that I am almost completely out of butter. This abomination cannot stand, which means { sigh and pose of woe } I shall have to put on pants, and { faint quiver in voice } go to the damn store.

In all seriousness, I already have a full roster of crap I need to deal with, and - as you can guess - donwanna. This is just one more damn thing to deal with, and I’m tired dammit.

Grrr.

Morning, mumpers! It’s 11c/51f with a predicted high of 12c/54f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Of all the normal, mild, cloudy days, this is fucking one of them.” I’d agree with that, it’s definitely mild out, and cloudy. Can’t get more normal than that around here.

It’s been a busy weekend, and will be a very busy week for me. I have six working days left before I change departments, and still have a lot of work to get finished. It’s also time to do our staff reviews for the year, I’ve done the easiest one for someone who’s been absent for several months so that was pretty simple. I’ve got two more to do this week, and I have to go through mine tomorrow with the boss, haven’t even looked at any paperwork for it yet!

Then I need to tidy up what work I can get completed, and write a detailed handover document for everything else, and a process document for something I’m not even sure we actually have a process for. Fun times!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 32 (BRRR!) Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 57 and N.O.S. Not exactly first day of Spring weather. However, temps will be into the high seventies to low eighties mid week and forward. Weather be weird. Needless to say the big plan is to stay inside and warm. Tonight is men’s night over to the church house, thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. We’ll head over there around four to take care of setup and so forth.

BooFae sounds like quite the bzzy week ahead for you. A process document for sump’n you’re not even sure there is a process for sounds like a fun thing to write. I mean, here is a document for a Schrodinger’s process. It may or may not be there.

shoe hope you enjoyed the ersatz pierogis.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Old business first, from the last MMP:

Sweetie, they all have the same cover …

No - I don’t think our library stocks that stuff. It was by the late Rosemary Rogers. Maybe her other books weren’t as bad, but I don’t intend to find out. She’s on my do-not-bother list.

In this particular travesty, it started out with the “hero” on his pirate ship or some such. Then it was never mentioned again, altho the final rescue scene involved his “yacht” taking them from Calais back to Merrye Olde England. I don’t know. Life’s too short to read badly-written trashy novels. I’d rather read well-written trashy novels.

I used to have a website bookmarked that was apparently all vanity press - I figured that out after trying to read 2 of the offerings. They were so awful, I couldn’t get past the first chapter of either. So that bookmark is gone and forgotten.

My grandmother’s recipe uses potatoes, farmer cheese (I use cottage cheese), and mint. Something tells me every village in Poland has its own pierogi! I’ve heard of fruit-filled which sounds interesting.

25°F here. Lucky for me, FCD finished making the adapters last night. He had asked me (since I wake before he does) to start up his pellet stove this morning so the shop would be warm for him. But now I don’t have to since the blocks are done. So yay! But it’s still stoopit cold. Long-range forecast says after tonight (again in the 20s) we’re not supposed to drop below freezing any more. Fingers crossed…

This is one of the biggest reasons I never wanted to be a boss. I had to write evals when I was in the Navy, which is another can of worms altogether. In our squadron, they had favorites and you had to do the evals accordingly. Which meant everything I wrote had to be re-written since I tried to be, yanno, honest in my comments. Face it, I was born to be a peon, not the person in charge!

Back to the weather - it’s supposed to hit the low 50s today and FCD is hoping to finish running the fuel lines. I’ll go along to help as I can and, theoretically, make the to-do list that I’ve been wanted to do for months. We’ll see how that goes.

I’ll have Tobias on Tues and Weds, then on Thurs, we pick up MIL at BWI - her flight gets in around 5PM, so after we fetch her, we’ll stop somewhere for supper and let rush hour traffic settle. Then I get the kid again on Firday. So a non-typical week ahead. And a promise of 70+° on Thursday.

For now, tho, caffeination followed by emptying the dishwasher.

Happy Moanday

Here in Nashville, it’s currently 22F and I want nothing more than to curl back up under the covers. Unfortunately, this is my busiest day of my busiest week. I’ve got to take Child the Elder to school in town, then come back to take Boy the Younger to school, followed by bringing Verrain to the clinic for his yearly Day of Suck. Then back home, picking BtY from school and CtE from city bus. Thankfully, I have both my phone and plenty of books to keep me occupied during the non-driving portion of the day.

Mornin, all. Up and getting ready to head to the shop. It’s gonna be a busy week. The clients want us to install early, so the software guys can fix the bad game play. It is currently bad. You’d think a game based on music would have you press the buttons in time with the music, but it doesn’t. But my shit works, the buttons react, the lights go on, the music comes out of the speakers. I’ve got to make a list of new cables so’s everything is dressed properly and paint a whole lot of stuff.

Anyway, have a great week, all!

Morning.

Thanks SO much for all the happy birthday wishes you made an old hippie feel special. I had actually a very nice birthday, didn’t do much on the actual day just piddled around, but I had a good dinner, we did the birthday thing the next day on my brother’s birthday. Went out for fish tacos with my folks and my mommy made me a pecan pie cheesecake. And yes, it’s just as good as it sounds. Back to irk today. And I’m trying not to be full of Donwanna. I will try to keep up this week. Love all y’all!

Yesterday, we went with our niece to see the play “Born With Teeth”, which was about the relationship between Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe. A two-man show, and entertaining.

Still only 25F in MPLS, but supposed to start warming into the 40s by the end of the week. I do miss the early spring in Portland, but we’ll get there.

Spring has made a series of brief appearances during March, but we’ve also had days like Saturday when the wind chill was four degrees. This week will be rainy and around 50 (spring), but next weekend will be lower thirties (late winter). March is a very bipolar month in this region.

I just threw out a box of pierogi. I tried doing a couple different things with them and finally decided it was them not me. I don’t like pierogi I guess.
Today may be the first day of my lawncare guys showing up. I resent having them mow the lawn before it needs mowing but they set the schedule and I sure don’t want to go back to doing it myself.
I am going shopping this week to find a replacement dishwasher. I will probably go with Bosch again even though the last one only lasted 3+ years. I hope the supply limitations are gone.

Well great. I have a cold now too. I went on vacation from Wednesday to Friday, and I only felt sick after coming back, so I most certainly got it from some snot-nosed kid there. Ugh. I’ve been miserable for the past few days.

Morning all. 33F here in N. Ali-bama, but getting to the mid-50’s today and into the 60’s and 70’sF later on this week. Shopping-n-sammich-n-Swimming-n-sauna are the major plans for today. Also found out the coordinator in charge of the U6 Girls (I’m one of the coaches) is going to be out this week on business, so I’m sorta of in charge of the pre-season program that starts Tuesday, so need to do some computer work and contact the other coaches on the plan…once I have one, that is. Ah well, will keep me out of trouble.

Don’t think I ever ate pierogi, being the fussy eater I am.

Hivemind (Beesnest, if anyone has a better MMP name, please post it), got a new dishwasher when I remodeled 4-5 years ago, so far it’s working fine (it’s a GE).

God Bod, feel better soon. And I thought you were a snot-nosed kid, too…

VanGo, sounds like a software problem alright (the mushy stuff between the ears of the software guys…)

TruePisces, I’m not sure if you have a MMP name yet or not, but welcome to our humble abode. Like your descriptions of your youth attachments and I presume Verrain is a pet of some sort (if so, pics are necessary to verify… ). Enjoy and stick around some.

FCM, I’m with you, made it to GS-13 and saw no reason to go any farther into management, evals would have been a real pain. Sounds like an active week. I’m re-reading the ‘main’ storyline from the “Ring of Fire” Sci-Fi series, working on 1636: The Saxon Rebellion now (books are about a W. VA. town transported to 1632 Germany in the middle of the Thirty Years War and what happens next).

shoe, good eating and sweet dreams.

OK, need to pretend to be active here, so all y-all take care and have a good week.

Well, now I am. Lol.

The geese are inside the wire

The Whirlpool in my apartment dates at least back to 2009. YMMV. And welcome, HiveMind!

Feel better, *GodBod

It was 30 degrees Fahrenheit this morning. Friday’s high is supposed to be 30 degrees Celcius(86 ferret height). Mother Nature is doing a Sybil.

I’m a poster from long, long ago. Back then, there were a lot of nicknames I had (RealFish, TP, Goddess…) Chose what you will… As for Verrain - well, you COULD call him a pet. He’s my husband, a former poster that I met here on this very board. I’ll have to see what I have if you’re still interested.

FCM, Ive been saying that Mother Nature is going through menopause. Its the only explanation I could think of.

Hear, hear!

I like the latter; don’t think I’ve ever had the former.

Welcome back, RealFish!

42 (5.56* for the furriners in the family) and fair here, with a predicted high of 49 and low of 30. Lowest temp predicted for the rest of the week is 37, so I’m hoping tonight will be our last freeze for the winter.

* degrees, not millimeters :smiley:
