In line with the survey above, I believe we need to know if you’ll be donning a brassiere for this expedition. Inquiring minds, and all that.
Howdy Y’all! I did accomplish mowage of the back yahd. Go Me! Plus I edged around the cee-mint pond, driveway, and front walk. Then I showered, had a sammich, and accomplished nappage. Quite the spurt of productivity for moi!
{{{MOOOOOOM}}} hope you feel better soonest.
shoe sorry about the DL and GC.
MetalMouse here’s an idea in case you can’t decide what to wear to Wally*World.
Decided I would have oatmeal for breakfast so made a double batch since that is what Hubs has most days; however, when he finally got up and came downstairs, he said he wanted to go out for breakfast and asked if I wanted to go with. So, I had to put the remainder of the oatmeal in a storage container for tomorrow’s breakfast. As I had already eaten and was washing dishes, I declined the invitation. However, there was one pot that had burned on crud on the bottom and sides and it took not only a huge amount of elbow grease but also the skin on the middle finger knuckle to get it totally clean. Imma have to put some neosporin and a bandaid on now. When Hubs returned, he asked if I could take care of several tasks: 1) fetch the circulars that got thrown into the shrubbery and 2) go bury a mouse that is in the neighbor’s driveway.
The neighbors are in Florida for 3-4 months so Hubs looks after their property, although thankfully they do have a snow removal service. Since he is having major problems walking due to the pain that the Doc determined is because it appears that his pelvis and upper leg bone are rubbing against each other, it would be difficult for him to do these things. So, I’m off to wrangle a mouse. . . . which should be easier than the chipmunk I had to finish off then bury last summer after hunter Bella got ahold of it.
shoe and swampy hope you enjoy the casserole
cupcake glad you’re on the mend
FCM hope it’s not the flu and that you’re over whatever it is soonest
I tried one of the long, skinny, paprika sausages for lunch. It was good. I don’t know if The Wife would like it. Paprika is very mild, but it seems her tolerance for spices has decreased. I also had some leftover cabbage. (Not leftover from St. Pat’s. It was a fresh cabbage… but I did use the leftover broth from St. Pat’s on Monday.)
Feel better soon, FCM!!
It is so nice outside. I knew temps were expected to warm up, but it was supposed to rain all day: instead, at 5pm there’s sunshine and it’s 79°F. Windows are open! Birds are chirping! Dogs and humans are happy!
Last night’s volunteer meeting (of the committee that I chair) went well. I have a good team: we have an outdoor event on 4/1 that I needed one or two people for, and folks stepped up. It’s only a 3-hour thing, but I’ll definitely need help with the tent during setup and takedown – and, it’s good to have more than one person at the table in case one of us gets caught up talking with/signing up a new member. Plus, it’s always important to have potty break coverage!
I have another volunteer meeting at 6pm, but I think it’s only supposed to last an hour. I’ll stay in my home office and pivot from work to that Zoom meeting; I’ll eat dinner/relocate to the living room afterwards. Less moving around for me, and less confusion for the dog. Then I get a “break” until Sunday, when I’ll pick up the branch’s tent and attend a social gathering for another committee.
Tomorrow night I’m going out with some great friends to hear some great jazz in DC. We know/are friends with all of the musicians, and there will be a “hang” afterwards that I’m really looking forward to. Mostly I can’t wait to give the drummer a great big hug: his 32-year-old daughter died suddenly early this month (brain aneurysm). I wasn’t able to make her funeral last week, and I’ve been wanting to see him…even though I’ll have no words, because there can be no words.
When I was a baby and toddler my hair was blonde, but it gradually darkened. In my early teens I begged my mom to let me dye it back: she said we could discuss it when I was 16 (but no promises). Luckily, by then I realized that there are relatively few blue-eyed brunettes and I decided that I liked it. Still do.
I strongly suspect the big glass of milk I had last night. It was about a week past its SellBy date, but it didn’t smell funky. However, it’s the only thing I ingested that was different from usual. I think all the nasties have been purged as I have kept some water down and I feel hungry. I think there are some saltines in the pantry…
I crawled under my electric blanket and I think I slept a bit. Progress. I adked my sweetie ti bring me some ginger ale.
FCD texted me from the gate and he should have his mom by now. They’ll stop to eat and let rush hour traffic subside. Not sure when he’ll be home.
But I should be able to wrangle Tobias tomorrow.
Howdy Y’all! We supped and I finished the last of the Safe Church trainin’. I now know how to behave in church. This means it will be all my fault when I don’t behave. I even got an email sayin’ I passed all the courses and TPTB over to the church house have the documentation. Teh intartoobz continue to fascinate me!
MOOOOOOM glad you’re feelin’ better. Hope there’s no more remainin’ ick.
Cat_Glove ick! You are a good person to take care of the late mousie.
Going to the HOA board meeting tonight because I foolishly volunteered to be on the board. I will not be wearing a bra.
Water and saltines are staying put. I think I’ve purged the nasties.
FCD should have his mom home in half an hour or so. With luck, he’ll be here before 9.
Hey shoe I got some of those massage boots, cuz it seemed like you like them, and a good idea, since my legs hurt after a long day standing on concrete, etc. They make my legs feel better, but they make me pass out on the couch and have weird dreams. And sorry about both DMV and GC.
FCM Glad the tummy woes are abating.
Greetings all!
The floodwaters have not carried me away, but I will say that the winds were quite exciting. I could do without more bomb cyclones, if I’m honest.
I hope everyone is well. Hugs to all.
sari, of course you miss Cerby. You cared enough about him to give him a chance. Even though it didn’t work out, you found an alternative for him. I hope that you and Ripple both feel better soon.
real fish, in my early twenties, I went the whole punk route with the hair. Half my head was shaved and the other half was in a kind of spiky cut and it was whatever color sounded good that week. It was fun for a while.
Glad you are keeping something down now Moooooom. I hope that you are back to your usual self soonest.
That sucks about the DL and GC shoe. Did the DMV specify what you could bring to satisfy their ID requirements?
A little late to the game, but when I eat hot dogs, I like a good beef dog with mustard and relish or Michigan sauce, onion and cheese.
Finished the irk week and am sitting here with a small, reddish dog in my arms (he kindly allows me to type). I’s tah-red! I need to clean up the patio and yard this weekend, since I didn’t do it while the trees were having their orgy. I’m going to wait a couple of more weeks to put out the herbs. I have an appointment to have my taxes done Saturday. After that, Nelson has a play date at Snoop’s. I hope that he burns off some energy.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Have you cleared that choice with the Home Owner’s Agreement?
Which is always good to hear. That all is good, I hope the good news continues. How’s your lovely wife feeling? Is she finally over the plague?
FCM, I’m glad you are recovering and happy that it was something fast.
Listen to shoe, she gave you some really good advice! You are the one who needs to be happy with your ink, so be your own best advocate.
I met hubs while he was a clean shaven Marine and as soon as he was discharged he grew a beard and had it for many years. One day he thought wearing a beard was too hot, so he shaved it off. I hated it and our dog barked at him because she was so confused. The next morning I woke up, glanced at him and then FREAKED THE FUCK OUT!!! I was a happily married woman, what was this stranger doing in my bed?
I got over it. He grew his beard back.
Thanks for checking in! How’s your beloved husband?
The storms have stopped for now out this way too. From what I’m hearing, there wasn’t a lot of property damage. A couple of idiots tried driving their work truck across running water and got rescued. We have a Stupid Motorist (yes, that is the real name, not just something I made up) law that covers this sort of thing. I’m not sure if the idiots are still employed, but know that they are responsible for the cost of their rescue.
Another couple in the Tonto forest wasn’t as lucky, their bodies washed up about 20 miles away.
Don’t try to cross moving water folks. It’s much more powerful than it looks people die stupidity every year.
shoe, dang about the DMV and about GC. Nice kick while you are down
I’m sorry, I had to laugh. I hope they are at least good weird dreams.
Today I identified another backyard bird. We have yellow bellied warblers. I feel like a real birder now! Before I started paying attention, I thought we had sparrows and house wrens. I had no clue what was out there, my yard bird list has 17 names so far. I know there are a couple of other unnamed birds out there but I can’t see them well enough to ID them.
Hi, everyone. Not sure this will be coherent. I’m having severe knee pain. Doc says x-rays show some arthritis even though cartilage looked great 2 months ago. He’s baffled because I’m on prednisone already. Minimal swelling. Fitted me for a knee brace, said to ice it and walk on it, etc., as it’s harder on the joint not to move it.
Holy crap. The pain is so intense, it’s hard to concentrate, even when I’m lying down. It feels like I’m getting knifed.
More later.
Oh, I am so sorry. I wish there was something I could do to help.
Do x-rays show blood clots?
I am so sorry, Nellie that sounds downright awful.
G.C. has the ‘Rona (I’m not surprised, with what he’s told me) and will not be soothing my bruised ego anytime soon. His hurtin’ lungs are what need soothing; last we spoke, he said it hurts to breathe.
I was typing something else, elsewhere, and my phone wanted to auto-supply “Inappropriate Crushy-Poo” and - despite my happiness with G.C. - a lot of old feelings got stirred up. I hope that cute lil cutie is doing well. I’ll probably never know.
I need to distract myself. Oh, looky, half of a joint!
Sorry, Nellie. That sounds awful.
Jane, thanks for asking. My lovely wife is de-crudded. Like Nellie, she has unexplainable knee pain. MRI coming up soon.
I remember it well. I survived my spell of it with ice, high doses of NSAIDs, a professionally fitted brace and using a walker to take some of the weight off of it during the worst of it. Those months scarred me-I live in fear of that pain returning or occurring in my other knee.
If you can get a referral for physical therapy for it, give it the college try. It was what finally brought me out of it without needing surgery. I’ll be holding a good thought for you. Ice, brace, PT, healthy does of naproxen or ibuprofen if you can tolerate it but your first thought is the most important one—keep moving it.
I fear that I just went with your run of the mill blue jeans and a polo shirt. Did get a big jar of Cheese Balls, though…
((nelllie}}. With all the walking you do, I really hope this isn’t something serious and it will go away shortly. Maybe the brace will help.
shoe, sounds like GC has it bad; they say patience is a virtue, but I don’t believe it, just take care (and having inappropriate thoughts is just fine…inappropriate actions, however…
JtC, I usually have a beard but 1-2 times a year I let my soccer players shave it off. Have a (somewhat tamed) Van Dyke right now, we’ll see if it survives the spring…
Sunny, “bomb cyclones” just plain sound scary. Glad you’re doing well…
FCM, sounds like you’ve dianosed your problem; I was wondering if you’d try to ‘soldier through’ and go with FCD to pick up MIL, glad that you stayed home instead. Sleep well.
Oopsie, meetings that actually run on-time are wonderful; enjoy the music and condolences to your drummer friend.
Cat Glove, happy mouse-burying. And Hubs problem sounds painful just to hear you describe it, hope it gets better for him.
Soccer has been coached and Wendy’s provided sustenance (I used to like their French Fries but they have gone downhill lately, so may give them a pass in the future). Off to bed here in a few minutes so everyone take care.
