Would they be round things? In my limited experience with humans and their fun bits, round body bits seem to me the most “in the way” and also, sort of … fun, but also very much weird, especially to those who don’t own them.
Fun. Weird. Round. Sometimes squishy. Ah, the fun that is someone else’s human bits.
The bits that always get in the way[1], never got in the way before that I noticed consciously. “Sure, this supine twist would be easier without those guys, but whaddya gonna do?”
Oh.
Once again, I wish I weren’t like this. Maybe, once my greatest critic can accept this for herself things would be easier.
And again, I apologize for making the MMP TH Mollie Magill show.
Not typing it out. Something-something making it real ↩︎
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/48f with a predicted high of 14c/58f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a fucking great day for naps. Followed by fucking naps.”
The best I’ve got is “University regulations” beats what the academic staff said!
I do like watching a good rainstorm but that time afterwards when there’s still a bit of damp in the air and the birdies start coming out to talk about it…that’s my favourite bit.
Welcome back, BBBobbio!
No need to apologise, you’re doing the life stuff, just like the rest of us. Body parts and exercise movements don’t always mix well, I’ve done myself more than one injury that way before now! Mostly I find that I want to go one way, and the round bits want to go the other way.
Yesterday was not a particularly arduous irk day, I had some training videos to watch so I worked through a few of those as I was at home and it was quiet. Logged off and had a bit of sofa time with Blossom before I headed out to the gym. 'im indoors went out to see an old punk band (Subhumans), I didn’t go because I have no interest in them and the gig was in a bar I don’t much like. He seemed to be having a good time though, he sent me a few texts in between bands so I know it was going ok. He said our pub friend South African Steve was there with his son but I don’t think he knew anyone else there.
I came back from the gym, cooked some pasta to go with my leftover chicken and chorizo, gathered up all the recycling stuff and put it in the bin, then hauled the biiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection. I found a short film called “To Walk Invisible” which is about the Bronte sisters so that kept me occupied until it was time to get treats ready for the cats and then head off to bed. Not sure when 'im indoors came home but I don’t think it was very late.
So far today, I have returned the biiiig bin to where it usually lives, fed the cats, cleaned litter trays, had several cups of tea and some breakfast, and put some laundry on. The washing machine has done the thing, and now all the laundry is hanging in the bathroom. Time to get back to irk!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 82 and partly sunny but becomin’ cloudy in the afternoon. TWPTB say rain is comin’ tomorrow and through the week. We shall see. It’s laundry day. I can hardly contain myself. Outside of that we will engage in the usual RDOS sloth. Sup will be ham steak, `peas ‘n carrots, cheesey broccoli rice and rolls. Not excitatin’, but it’ll feed.
Mollie you are workin’ through this and we are happy to be a soundin’ board. Never apologize for that. Just to say, I am right fond of dangly and round bits. I never miss a chance to post sump’n juvenile.
red and BooFae I don’t believe that’s BBBobbio.
doggio was the penguin the contractor or decorator? If so, I am on the penguin’s side.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
If customers read (HAH!!!) stores could post this:
The frequently cited, albeit debated, full quote is “The customer is always right in matters of taste”. Popularized by early 20th-century retailers like Harry Gordon Selfridge, Marshall Field, and Cesar Ritz, this phrase was intended to mean that customers should be allowed to purchase what they want without judgment, rather than literally being correct in every scenario.
But, well, you know…
vbob isn’t BBBobbio, who left the Dope in 2017 and never returned. He still does FB, but for whatever reason, he doesn’t play here any longer.
A whopping 45 Ferrets this morning with maybe some rain before reaching mid 60s. I’ll be accompanying FCD today and with luck, we’ll get the water system finished today. I do wish he’d quit saying he doesn’t need my help when he thinks I want to do other things. Sometimes that man makes me crazy!! You’d think after all these years…
Terrible night last - I was freezing!! It was nearly 1 before I finally fell asleep, but I woke for a bladder break and (naturally) stepped in some cold cat hork. That’ll wake you up, but I did wait till this morning to pick it up - I didn’t want to deal with it in the middle of the night. I wish I knew why I was so cold - I should have worn fuzzy jammies instead of my long, baggy t-shirt.
Checking in from Lisbon airport, got from Downtown Barcelona to the airport free of charge (scored a free train ticket, (probably because I looked so pitiful to the agent) and a free transfer from one terminal to the other. Had to stand in line for about 40 minutes as the flight was late arriving but hey, business class paid off as I got a meal during the 90+ minute flight (cheese pasta, bread, and a chocolate mousse). Sitting in an overcrowded lounge right now, but they have chocolate cake and Coke Zero so I’m happy. Board my flight to JFK in about 3 hours so should be back in the US of A this evening. Got a hotel near the airport booked for tonight and a flight to Nashville around 11:30am tomorrow to end this trek. Looking forward to being home and back in regular touch with all y’all.
It’s 48F and overcast. The day will remain relatively overcast, and our expected daytime high is 58F. Good moving weather.
Metal Mouse, I hope the rest of your travels go smoothly.
I didn’t do much of anything yesterday; the usual kitchen tidying and sweeping, along with a load of laundry. My knees were a little stiff from Sunday’s gardening, but they eventually worked their way loose.
I plan to drop the pups off at the vet for boarding around 10:00 a.m., swing by Total Wine for a bottle of good champagne, then back to the house to load up the lawnmower we bought for our son as a housewarming gift, and then we’ll head south to help my son move. It’s going to be a long day.
My son started moving some smaller stuff over yesterday afternoon. He sent a picture of himself in the new house. The grin on his face brought a little moisture to my eyes. He’s worked very hard to get here, and he’s done it on his own.
I suppose I should get another cup of go-juice in me and get my day started. I’m not looking forward to dropping the pups off for overnight boarding, but it’ll be best for them so they can eat on time and I don’t have to worry about them barking their heads off in the yard as run back and forth through the dog door.
Good morning! The walking alarm went off this morning, just as thunder rumbled and water flowed down the rain spout outside my window. Mrs Magill and I decided to roll over and grab an extra hour of sleep. Someone, who shall remain nameless, forgot about her son’s concert tonight, and signed up for yoga instead. Those classes are now cancelled and I have to dress like an adult tonight.
Last night was pasta and frozen meatballs[1], and now there are plenty of leftovers for lunch.
Boofae - Once again, you weather app nails it. { Briefly considers crawling under her desk. }
And now I have Phil Collins in my head.
Welcome, vbob!
Metal Mouse - Chocolate cake can make up for multiple sins.
I was in the Mez today, which wasn’t busy. Good thing, because I got pulled to help the 300 sort table twice. There was a late Next Day Air shipment, and I guess the pilot landed in a lake instead of Runway 23L, because there were 50 soaked packages. So a bunch of us stayed after to rebox them for tomorrow. I came home and gave Spot some attention. At least till he got overstimulated, and it degenerated into an eyes closed one handed slo mo swinging fight between him and me.
Just a random unprovoked penguin attack.
I go out of my way to avoid that.
Wouldn’t wood or natural gas work better for warming the house?
Tis sunny, if not too warm today, having been pretty grey most of the day- not that that mattered, as I was invigilating in little gloomy rooms for most of the day. It was OK, though too much sitting still, and students actually showed up. At least in the morning there was only one student, who left early- I get paid either way, and that meant I could just take an extra lunch break. I did get some writing done, and the extra cash will be welcome for what really is exceptionally little work.
Got the bus in and back, and now feeling pretty tired, despite not doing very much.
Just did a little light pottering in the garden- there’s only 3 centipedes forecast tonight, and I no longer have space for all the vegetable plants on the windowsill, as they’re rocketing up in the tunnel so I’ve been having to repot. I’ve covered them up with an extra cloche, and I’m keeping fingers crossed, which makes typing tricky. I reckon I’ll be planting pretty much everything out by this weekend.
This gardening stuff does get you obsessed with the forecast, if not always as sweary as BooFae’s app. Anyway, I should go give the ratties their daily fud. I swear they have a month’s supply hidden somewhere in the cage, but they get so excited about the prospect of more…
I think I would prefer my meatballs heated… < snerk >
Just back from boat labors. Along with getting all but the last connection done in the water supply system, FCD discovered some bonehead used a wire tie to attach the a/c drain line to one of the steering cables. At least it wasn’t tight, but dang, why would anyone think that was a good idea? Then there were assorted not-to-well-secured wires that are now well-routed and secured.
I gave the water tanks a quick rinse, and tomorrow, I’ll fill them. FCD will make the final connection from the tanks to the strainer that leads to the pump and accumulator, and we can run the system and check for leaks before declaring that system done.
We went to Salsa’s for lunch and I’ll have the rest of my Pollo Fiesta for supper (it’s a huge serving and I it very mucho.) FCD will forage on his own. That makes supper easy.
Otis is on The List for dumping the trash can under my desk. Jerkface! It was mostly just papers and tissues - I don’t think I had any food waste in there. Who knows?
This is my third attempt to post. It’s not technical issues. I just end up writing too much and either run out of time or get frustrated with myself.
My nephew with the severe OCD must be out of his apartment by Friday. He found a place online he likes, but it won’t be available until 5/15 at the earliest. What would he do then? He can’t live with anyone due to the OCD. His solution: stay at a hotel. This would be on mommy’s dime, as everything else is, and she’s on a fixed income . It doesn’t worry him a bit because “I can’t help it.”
I doubt he’ll get accepted anyway because his current landlady will tell potential landlords that his apartment is a health hazard. He has a therapist but rarely talks to her about the cleaning issue. Besides–and this is what really irks me–he “probably wouldn’t clean even without the OCD because I don’t like cleaning.”
Actual artist’s rendering of my face:
OK, enough of that. Lessee…Things Ya Gotta 'Splain…Well, teaching teens gave me an endless supply, to wit:
“I have to write a numerical date? January is 1, right? What’s 2, March?”
“Does the sun come up in the east or west?”
“Was Vietnam before or after the Civil War?”
The storms have finally passed by and we’re back to sunny days for awhile. Not hot, by any means, but 50s are better than 30s.
Got the wife to the therapy place this morning, where she was prodded and stretched and given some very mild exercises to do for her upper arm pain. The PT had the same diagnosis that I had: inactivity has led to inflammation of the tendons. She’ll be doing these light exercises at home and returning for weekly sessions at the center.
