The kitties pulled down my lovely wife’s hearing aid charger, then shredded the cord. The hearing aid itself appears intact, but isn’t functioning. This may mean it’s broken, or that they pulled it down before it got a charge. Therefore, she’ll be heading to Costco soon.
Oh, pleeeeeeeaaase share. Cough up the good stories!
Does the nifty link not show up for you? Things look different in various styles, but in my Discourse view there was a hinty-hint.
I now have a black cat hugging my kneecaps like Capone’s henchmen are coming by.
I also have been lectured about paying taxes by both parents … neither of whom can communicate with each other reliably, so I got the same speech, ah, we’re gonna say twice.
“Narrator: it was not twice.”
I don’t wanna give the current administration any more of my hard earned pizza money for their silly shenanigans.
Mrs Magill is setting up the swag table for the Band Spring Concert tonight, so we need to get to the school early. Dinner is a quick and easy frozen pizza. Yes - I’m cooking it first.
Ug, I’m wearing leaving the house clothes. Tomorrow is therapy day. I’m not sure what I’ll wear, but it’ll be more fun than jeans and a polo shirt.
Howdy Y’all! Laundry got put through the cleanser and dehydrator then put where it stays until it gets dirty again. Nappage and day drinkin’ were needed after all that effort. Then sup got fixed and the kitchen cleanded up. How do I keep up such a constant pace!
MetalMouse hope the flight has gone well. You may even be in Etlanner by now. Chawklit cake always makes it better.
doggio I have never been subjected to random penguin rage. Guess I should count myself lucky.
Mollie so sorry you had to put on leavin’ the house clothes. My thoughts are with you durin’ this most difficult time.
Cookie glad wife got her PT started. Here’s hopin’ it starts to help soonest.
shoe I agree. It’s hard to fork over money to this current administration.
Lily Oh no! I hope your lovely wife’s hearin’ aid is not broken. I have gotten so use to mine and can’t believe I waited as long as I did to get 'em.
Nellie hope some kind of reasonable or acceptable solution is found for nephew’s situation soonest. I can’t imagine how frustrated you are with this.
Nuts huzzah for some extra cash for very little work!
Hippie this is your year for home improvement is it not!
Taters hope the movin’ goes as smoothly as possible. So happy for your son and his new digs!
We had a pretty big RMD withdrawal earmarked just for this purpose
It’s the tissues. While he hasn’t gone after them in the trash, Nelson has been known to shred any tissues that I leave on the night stand.
Supper has been ingested (92 ferrets, so a salad and a wrap). Got the podiatry / insurance kerfluffle straightened out. Sis and I are going church lady thrift shopping (better stuff than GW or Salvies) tomorrow. Now that I’m back on the road, we can do stuff that isn’t just errands.
shoe - I assumed the link was to a product page, hence my clever retort! ![]()
Daughter and SIL took their spawn to get long-overdue haircuts. Afterwards, Daughter told Tobias “I like your haircut!” To which he responded, with rolled eyes, “Of course you do!”
Little snarker!
I finally booked our return flight from Miami to BWI (after our cruise.) I can’t believe the number of options, ranging from you’ll-pay-extra-for-everything-so-shut-up to “Can I get you a fluffy pillow and rub your feet while you sip champagne?” Our choice was shy of champagne, but we did spring for better options because we’re worth it. Our cattle car days are behind us. So I think all necessary bookings are done. Except for Otis. FCD will take care of that.
The to find something on TV and crochet a bit.
Explaining? Let’s see. I can only remember one at the moment, and that was decades ago. My best friend announced that the little insects we sometime saw in the summer (they were hoverflies) were “baby bees”. I explained that bees were fully formed as adults from the moment they left the hive, and that what she saw were not baby bees. She said that her dad told her they were baby bees, and who was I to think I knew more than her dad? I don’t think I ever convinced her.
A couple of weeks ago I had an episode of tremendous vertigo followed by a marathon vomiting session. This was after a few weeks of tinnitus, ear pressure, and hyperacusis. I went to the doc today, and it looks like I probably have Meniere’s disease. Maybe even Lermoyez Syndrome, a rare variant. There’s not much to be done about it no matter what it is, but the doc wants me to have an MRI again so she can compare it to one I had back in 2023. Fun, fun.
Yup. You know just how it is. Kreinik threads don’t “break” but they have a grain and if you try to work against the grain you will end up saying many bad words. But it is lovely when done right.
That really is the best part ![]()
Our cardinals are now stealing the straw I used to mulch the posies. As a result, I have moved a large planter in front of my glass doors and put in more straw so I can watch them knock it around and entertain the fuzzbutts.
And…a few years ago, I told Mom that if she didn’t make sister start paying at least one bill, she wouldn’t know how to do it when Mom was gone. Mom said she thought I’d do it out sister’s part of the estate and I told her that wasn’t going to happen. It took over a year before Mom figured out that I really meant it when I said I wasn’t going to parent her golden child, so she finally made sister take over paying the electric bill.
They are currently in the dark because sister didn’t pay the bill and ignored the overdue notices. Sister also threw everything away and doesn’t know her account number and is throwing a fit because she just doesn’t have time to deal with it.
Time was I would step in and call the electric company (or maybe APS) but those days are past. This is Mom’s bed to sleep in, she made it all herself.
To answer the OP, I had to explain tipping 1a) why tipping more than 10% was necessary when dining out / going to a bar and 2b) why it got considerably bumped up when you were part of a large group staying through several sets of music. This was a man who was a decade older than I and had lived in Music City for twenty years. He didn’t know that servers could be making as little as $2.35 p/h and if you took up a table for a while, you needed to make up for not turning said table over.
I napped, at least till Spot started yowling, and trampled me awake. I had a Manhattan, and chicken with rice, beans, and corn for dinner. Spot is sacked out somewhere.
“ATTICA! ATTICA! ATTICA!” - Otis
Oy.
And hope the nephew gets things straightened out.
You have no idea(NSFW)
Squeaky and the rest of the Band did a fantastic show. The honors band performed On An American Spiritual and Give Us This Day.
The swag table raised over $400! Every little bit helps.
I’ve mentioned this before, but I bought TWO “teaching clocks” for work because we all got tired of 'splaining that “you have a fifteen minute break, come back at such-and-such” got really difficult when folks disappeared for .. more than fifteen minutes.
It’s like there isn’t a timer function on their Tic Tok smartphone.
Kasya attacks innocent tissue boxes and pulls their contents out for chewing and shredding.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/47f with a predicted high of 17c/62f and mostly sunny. Weather app greets this information with “Some people think fucking mild weather is perfect. Those people don’t fucking know shit.”
We usually get a good uptake on requests for invigilators, it’s easy money as mostly they just get to sit in a room with one student (if they show up) and I tell them to submit a timecard for the entire duration of the exam whether it happens or not. I reckon they need the money more than the uni does, and they’re expecting to be paid for that time.

That is a much better diagnosis than it could have been, hopefully the light exercises will inspire her to continue.
That sounds horrible, I hope you’re feeling better now. I had a friend with Meniere’s disease, she was able to manage most of her symptoms but sometimes it did lay her low for a while. Fingers crossed for you.
Difficult as it is, you are right to leave them to fix it themselves. Your sister needs to learn to be responsible for things, she won’t have a parent around forever and you don’t need to be taking on that kind of thing when you’re enjoying your RDOS life.
Yesterday was a relatively quiet irk day. I logged out on time and went to make campus food, then since I was in the kitchen already, I made chicken curry for dinner so it sat on the stovetop until we were ready to eat it. We watched the last two episodes of Gen V after dinner, then it was bedtime for me.
Today I had a relatively straightforward commute. The bus was a bit late and was quite busy, I missed the 7.28am train but the much nicer 7.36am was back on. It disappears off the timetable now and then, no idea why but I was pleased to see it back again. The new office is busy today, pretty much everyone is in which means it will be noisy and concentration won’t be happening. Fortunately I have 4hrs of meetings and training stuff to be at so I’ll be unavailable for most of the day. Tonight might be pub night, might not, haven’t decided yet.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and drizzly with a predicted high of 87 and cloudy. We got rain overnight with the promise of more tomorrow through Sattidy. We need the rain, but more importantly it’s supposed to rain all over southeast Jawja where the big wildfires are, as well. We will procure provisions later this mornin’ and get fried chikin plates for today’s main need to feed. The rest of the day is reserved for RDOS sloth as is our wont.
Hippie we did that in 2018 to make a bunch of improvements on da cave. Lot of inconvenience, but worth it in the end.
Lucky Meniere’s disease is no fun at all. I know a Priest who has it and manages quite well most of the time, but there are times when it lays him low for a few days. If this is what you have, I hope between the med professionals and you a plan to deal can be figured out.
JtC I think you are doin’ what you have to do re your mom, sis, and the electric bill. Sis must figure out how she is goin’ to manage on her own eventually. I know it’s tough not to worry about your mom, but as you said she is the one who has enabled sis all these years.
Mollie glad the concert went well and huzzah on the money raised at the swag table.
BooFae sometimes irk meetin’s and trainin’s can be a blessin’. That looks to be true for you today.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
My brother has it, and I think all of my sisters deal with vertigo. So far, I’ve been spared.
I had a decent sleep last night, I think partly because I wore my jammies instead of just the sleep shirt. Being warm makes all the difference for me. I hear ads for cooling sheets, mattresses. and pillows and I don’t get it. Sleepy time is for warm and cozy!!
My next-to-the-youngest sister turns 65 today. Baby sis will be 61 next week. When did we all get so ancient??? Anyway, I remembered to send an e-card.
We got our last (for the moment) bill from the marina and it was nice to see so many fewer numbers than the recent invoices. Partly it was because we didn’t have to pay the haul-out fee since they had to fix something they messed up. It’s good that we’re just about done with them doing work - all of FCD’s inheritance money is gone and any more work is on us. So lots less will be done (not that there’s a lot left anyway.)
We’re supposed to go back today but for the life of me, apart from filling the water tanks, I don’t know what I’ll do. Maybe the last little bit of painting in our cabin and head, I guess. I don’t really feel like going today, but FCD will be crawling in the lazarette which means I should be there to hand him tools so he doesn’t have to climb in and out multiple times. Maybe we can make it a short day.
Forward!! Happy Wednesday!
And, naturally, the plans changed. FCD has gone to the boat alone since there really wasn’t a lot for me to do there. Before he left, we brought the dinghy into the shop and I’ll be disassembling it so we can refurbish it. For the moment, I’m waiting for the pellet stove to warm up the shop - it was 59 Ferrets, which isn’t all the comfortable for me to work in. I’ll be heading out as soon as my drill battery is charged - goodness knows I don’t want to unscrew a bazillion screws by hand! How prehistoric!!!

Red, “DMC metallic thread” somehow prodded my old brain into remembering Aerosmith sharing a music video with a rap group that may have been Run-DMC. Yeesh, I need some more coffee!
Some guy is now in trouble for posting a picture of seashells on a beach. It sounds like a flimsy case to me. The judge said it was “vengeance masquerading as justice.”
Willie Nelson was born sometime close to midnight 93 years ago, so he celebrates both days as his birthday. Hats off to you, Willie! Woo-hoo!
It’s somewhat warm out today. I intend to pump the tires on my recumbent trike soon, so I can ride around the neighborhood with all my flashing lights blinking. Now, where’d I put all those chargers?
